Remember, remember, 15th of November

It doesn’t matter to you.
Oh, no, that’s a pure math. If group B doesn’t care either way, then it simply doesn’t count in that calculation – after all, not introducing ascended gear would not make them unhappy as well. What does count is whether the change kittened off more people than it pleased. From what i can see, it did – there are far less ascended gear defenders than opposers even now, when a lot of people that didn’t lik its introduction have left.
It’s pretty clear by now that, had they known GW1 PvE would’ve become that popular on its own before they started building it, they would’ve added long term vertical gear progression before it even launched.
And the irony is that if they did that, it would not have become so popular – most likely no more than Aion now is. And, as a consequence, GW2 would have never been made at all.

No. It has been stated that any ascended tier gear will be account-bound. Whether that means account bound, or account-bound, soulbound on equip, remains to be seen.
Interesting point is, that legendaries will also become ascended-tier as far as stats are considered. This may mean them becoming account-bound as well.
I dunno, I think the third group (“we don’t care, we’ll get it if we need it”) is bigger than both combined.
It’s quite likely true – but, as i said before, it doesn’t matter. While that group is not protesting against introducing ascended weapons, they would also not protest against removing them. As far as the ascended gear is concerned, they don’t count.
I’m certain of it. For good or ill, Anet tries to include something for every segment of their player base. What happens is that pleasing group A will kitten off group C, while Group B doesn’t care either way. Group B is generally larger than A + C, so overall the game itself and the players are not affected by any of the changes.
Again, group B does not matter here. What matters is the relation of group A to group C – and from what i see, group C (anti-ascended) is significantly bigger than group A (pro-ascended).
If done right she can show that Sylvari can make their own path without falling into either “Yay Mother tree” or “Evil cackling Nightmare” camps.
We are dealing with a race that, from day one, is ready to start impacting the world. There’s no childhood, there’s no growing up into adulthood and then they alter the world. There’s just pop out of the cocoon and boom population explosion if it wanted to happen.
The two things that are holding back the Sylvari are their tenants and fears. They either have to listen to Pale Tree or risk the Nightmare as if it was a religious decision.
Scarlet’s plan to reject both will throw a wrench in the Sylvari mindset, ultimately changing how they could shape the world if this works.
And yet, for all her claims and protests, she acts very much like your “Evil cackling Nightmare”. Including the evil laugh part.
But why Sylvari so need this dream and connections? Other races live good without.
Because they skip the childhood and basic learing parts of life. It is the dream that imparts that needed knowledge in them when they are grown.
And of course Sylvari as a race are not a group of Sylvari (as individuals) – you do have to include the Tree in the equation. And while Tree can exist without her Sylvari drones, the drones cannot exist without the tree.

There is a problem with play like you want in this case as one group is stalling the progress of the other
Again, untrue. Killing aethers does not slow down closing portals. Not closing portals does.
The only thing really stalling the progress of the event is lack of enough organized completionist groups. Farmers move in large zergs, and thus never do more than 2-3 events at the same time – leaving all other events for completionists to do. With enough people willing to do the event, it will get finished regardless of what farmers will do.
Nothing in GW1 or GW2 says the gods didn’t create magic. Perhaps they did.
The story of magic is the story of Tyria. When the Giganticus Lupicus walked the world, magic was said to be “wild”, and was practised by the elder races of the world with impunity. When the Elder Dragons awoke, they began to consume everything around them, feeding on the magic of the world. The Seers gathered up all the magic in the world that had yet to be corrupted and sealed it within the Bloodstone, and the surviving races were concealed by Glint, who had shaken off the yoke of Kralkatorrik – all except the mursaat, who, having discovered a way to slip beneath the skin of the world, betrayed the other races, keeping their magic. The Elder Dragons eventually ended their rampage for reasons unknown and returned to slumber, and the races of Tyria re-emerged……
Many years later, the Six Human Gods arrived at the Artesian Waters from across the Mists. They weren’t even on the planet until after magic was being used willynilly. How many times do I have to point out the retcons? They do it a ton.
Wait, what? Bloodstones got retconned as well? And how exactly did the Seers manage to seal the magic within bloodstones before arrival of humans to tyria, if bloodstones were made from king Doric’s blood (thus their name)? Or is it no longer true as well?
Fact is this game needs something that takes a bit longer to achieve than what we’ve got now.
It doesn’t have to be stats. in fact, it shouldn’t be the stats. Horizontal progression offered so many options – vertical progression kills all that variety for a simple stat grind.
A shame.
Ascended gear has 8% higher stats than exotic, not enough to make a difference when only your trinkets and weapons have that 8% higher boost. When you factor in that everyone still has exotic armor, overall your stat boost only becomes 5.2% higher, essentially the difference of using consumables versus an equal opponent who doesn’t use consumables.
The estimate done once in one of the first ascended gear topics, which was later adjusted for the other trinket stats, ended up with about 20% damage increase for the zerker stat set, due to compound effect. That estimate did not take in consideration increased base weapon damage, so the end effect will likely be greater.
You have no more reasonable basis for saying “most of the players do not care” than we do for saying they do.
Oh, i actually agree with that points. Most of the players do not care – but it doesn’t matter because those players will never get ascended gear anyway. What does matter is whether the number of players that want ascended gear is bigger or smaller than the number of people that are against it. From what i have seen so far, it’s the second – there seems to be way more people against ascended than those that want them.
Should new players start at level 80 with a full set of exotics and crafting professions at 500 fresh out of the character creator? I’m not sure what you’re saying.
We all started at level 1 with 0 crafting professions and gear. I’m not sure where the disadvantage comes into play.
When we started the game, the amount of time needed for levelling and gearing up was dependent only on the effort we were willing to put in the game. Now, there’s a time gate put between new players and us. That is something that cannot be overcome by anything.
Wrong. There is a time gate for everyone. Not just new players. Are you suggesting anet should make their content with people in mind who aren’t even playing the game yet?
Yes, they definitely should think about players that will start playing in the future. If they won’t consider them, they run into a distinct possibility of getting no new players at all.
If there was an actual majority of players speaking out against Ascended gear for the 10 months since it was first introduced, do you really think that Anet would alienate most of their player base by continuing to move forward with plans to introduce something they hate?
Considering that the ascended gear from the very beginning was aimed at a tiny “dedicated” minority of players (mostly locust content that already left the game) and offered absolutely nothing for the playerbase this game was originally designed for? Yep, they knew they would alienate a large part of their playerbase, but either didn’t care, or thought that they can afford that because that part of the playerbase currently does not have anywhere else to go.
Also, the whole RNG box mess clearly shown, that Anet does not have any problem with introducing things that most of the community at least strongly dislikes, if they think they can get away with it.

Why are people making up stuff and saying the infusions would replace sigils? Are you just stirring up kitten and trying to find reasons to hate this patch?
How come everytime i see your name you are hating on the OP?… Im just saying that other ascended items dont have normal upgrades so i am asking if thats the case here.. im not trying to hate the patch…?
Except other ascended gear does have normal upgrades – it’s just that they are already added, so some people don’t notice them.
If kills are what reduces the twisted bar, is it based on the number of enemies that spawn or is it fixed?
From what i have seen, it seems that it’s not killing individual mobs that depletes the bar, but rather mob waves. With few people at events it can be 2-3 mobs per wave. With more it can be like 10 mobs per wave. They still seem to deplete the bar all the same (so no, upscaling the event to get – and kill – more mobs will not get the bar to move faster).
The one point in the invasion where farmers actually may cause harm is when aetherblades spawns are still up, when when their event bar has been completed.
That doesn’t cause harm. They simply don’t help. If other people can’t do the events on their own, they wouldn’t be able to do it either way if the farmers decided to go farming elsewhere.
I’ve seen events fail with 25 minutes on the clock for the final wave, because of farmers.
Farmers doing aethers do not slow groups doing portals at all. And you don’t need a lot of people to do those events – 5-man team can easily jump from event to event closing portals and advancing the wave. 2-3 such groups could finish the wave in 25 minutes themselves. So, if you couldn’t do the last wave having 25 minutes left (or was it twenty? not sure what you meant), it’s not because farmers farmed, but for a much simpler reason – because noone was doing portal events.
There’s also another way to advance the event fast, if you want to put the effort. Find the aether events that are not close to waypoints and go at them with small group. You will be able to wipe them fast and advance aether bar – and once that bar hits 0, farming practically stops.
If all you want hovewer is to shout at others that they should do the events for you, thn you will get no sympathy from me at all.

“But I reject that call. I reject the notion that that I must choose the Dream or be lost to Nightmare. The forces that push us this way or that can be redirected. They can be set against one another to the detriment of both, and now I know how.”
Any ideas what Scarlet can (but obviously she can do nothing with game) do with sylvari and what happens with race without pale tree and court?
Considering that Sylvari are barren drones, and all are being grown by the Pale Tree, without the Tree they will simply die out (*). End of story.
Which gives me an idea
(goes to pack an axe and a lot of flammables)
(*)There might be other trees, but the same applies for them. Sylvari as a race simply cannot exist without their mother trees.
If you don’t get to Scarlet, it does not count as a stopped invasion. You can fail on Scarlet and it counts but you have to get there (i.e. clear all waves).
Untrue, even spectacular fails (failing when still during halfway of phase two) will still count for achievement completion.
If that’s what they’re making modern day Cantha to be, I say “YES PLEASE!”
If that was really the picture of current cantha, then it would mean we wouldn’t be seeing it anytime soon. We wouldn’t want Canthans to show up in tyria and just nuke all the remaining elder dragons in first battle, would we?
It’s hard, man.. I don’t like a lot of the lore changes from GW1 to GW2. The main ones are the HUUUUGEEE retcon on the gods.. they went from the gods that created tyria & everything on it to semi-powerful beings that only the humans even talk about & they aren’t even in the game any more.
I think you need to brush up on your lore before you start making criticisms.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Gods
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Exodus_of_the_Gods
The gods did not create the world of Tyria. The creation of Tyria by the gods is a human myth. As for the gods no longer being on Tyria, this has been the case since before the events of GW1. The gods left Tyria a very long time ago.
They officially decided to stop interfering at the end of Nightfall, after Kormir’s Ascension to fill the Sixth position.
yes. Apparently it was Kormir’s idea and she managed to persuade all the other gods to accept it. Proving, again, that nothing good ever comes from her involvement.
Korea, China, and Japan all have major issues with each other. While stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, we were always told not to talk about China or S.Korea with Japanese Civilians. Basically, they all dislike ( putting it lightly ) each other because of past war crimes, namely in WWII.
And this doesn’t happen in Europe, since we’re all a big loving family with no past incidents on the scale of WWII… oh wait.
I never implied that at all. Please, don’t put words in my mouth. Was Europe the inspiration of the Factions campaign? No.
But prophecies (and lot of gw2, or MMO’s in general) do run on such european cultural mix. I just don’t buy it that this is not a problem, but doing exactly the same with asian cultures somehow is.
Yes, it will be replaced by a Twisted Scarlet Fountain. Soon. Very soon.
Ironically, the aether mobs at frostgorge are the most dangerous, and can sometimes cause mass wipes of a whole zerg with a lucky stun spam/grenade spam combo – lower level areas do not even come close to that.
I get more loot succeeding the event then farming it.
Highly unlikely, unless you put a lot of effort to farm badly.
If every single recipe was given to every single player… then the entire concept of recipes would be obsolete.
Having all other different stat sets obtainable with discovery (before celestial gear was introduced) somehow didn’t invalidate the concept of recipes at all.
And yet what do you have to do to make exotic versions of those stats items?
Buy recipes.
Only for exotic insignias, inscriptions and jewels. The items themselves are learned through discovery process. Except for celestial gear, for some reason.
What would your method be? How do you think you should get the new Ascended gear?
As fast and easy as possible. I do not enjoy regearing.
If every single recipe was given to every single player… then the entire concept of recipes would be obsolete.

- Every map will be invaded at least once per day, probably twice. In some cases, three times.
- Builds do not affect the rotation.
- The rotation is the same across all servers.
- If you play at the same time every day, you will see all 13 maps by the end of the Clockwork Chaos release.
This isn’t correct, since you’re not factoring in Overflow maps.
What overflows have to do with what Anthony said? Rotation is the same across all the servers and overflows.
It is because Logan can’t think clearly when Jenna is in danger. Which is not a good thing if he is supposed to be her protector. Anise’s job is to protect the Queen, above all else. Since Anise can’t trust Logan to keep his emotions in check, especially when the Queen is in danger, she has been trying to slap some sense into him this LS.
That means he’s not the right man for the job and should be replaced with someone competent. Keeping him in position but cutting him out of the loop is the worst possible solution here.
I’ve done 9 separate events and got credit for 8——————because (1) FAILED————even though you get a “reward” for all events entered, you don’t get credit for any that failed (for the achievement)
that’s completely untrue. You do get credit for failed events as well. You just need to be there for the whole event (joining after 10 mins, even if you end up in main/correct overflow seems to disqualify you for achievement credit) , participate in it (in portal events, not only in aether/molten farming), and do not get disconnected. DC or switching overflows (or overflow to main) also seem to disqualify you – most likely the game sees this as the same as joining late.
I feel bad for Logan. His character himself isn’t bad, but he’s suffering from the same issue with Trahearne’s writing where EVERYONE orbiting him are dumb-aholes.
You’re telling me Logan couldn’t know about the invasion? That just makes Queen Jennah look like a shrew. Especially considering, y’know… Logan sacrificed Snaff to save her life? You’d think she’d show appreciation? But no, the dang shrew STILL lies to him and acts condescending!?
Actually, him saving the queen has absolutely nothing with it. It’s a much simpler matter. If the queen cannot trust the commander of her army, then she should really pick someone else for that position. Because it means he’s either not trustworthy enough, or not competent enough, and any of those is pretty much disqualifying.
In my opinion, players who do not attempt to go to an event as soon it pops on the top of the hour do not have a right to complain when they later go and don’t get in one. This would actually seem like a feature to prevent those who think it’s their right to farm event completions without putting in any of the effort for the event.
I won’t argue against that. This design, however, really should have been introduced with a mechanic that would allow people to easily rejoin their overflow in case of disconnect, and such disconnects should not cause the event to not be counted for achievements (as it’s currently the case).
Timberline was on yesterday (some 28-30 hours ago).
I am surprised to hear that there is a rotation instead of it being pretty much random, as i don’t see any reason why any such rotation should include the same zone running twice in a row.
I’d also want to know when the Fields of Ruin will be on next, because i seem to keep missing it so far.
(hey, there’s another villain “cuz I’m evil” sue – Shiro Tagachi).
Did you actually play through the campaign looking at the cinematics? He really wasn’t the (standard nowadays) “for the lulz” evil type. All his action – though undeniably very evil – had a very straithforward and easily understandable motivation.
He just wanted to live and he had no problem with resorting to mass murder to get what he wanted (which is also understandable, as being good at killing was his primary characteristic, and the reason why he ended as the Emperor’s bodyguard in the first place).
He wasn’t a complicated character, but he was believable.
Scarlet isn’t.
Well, Greatsword is the biggest weapon in the game by a pretty decent factor.
Yes, exactly. GS-es are biggest and coolest looking weapon in the game. Hammers are for some unfathomable reason usually smaller, and a decent hammer skin is much harder to come by. Why is that?
And at least hammers got Genesis and Entropy lately. Some of the other weapon types can’t even say anything like that.
From what I understood the new craftable ascended gear will not be account/soul bound but will be time gated as to not flood the market with them so them retain their value to make it worth while for the high level crafters to make them.
You understood wrong:
Ascended weapons and armor will remain account-bound like other ascended gear.
(that’s from https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/ – “Crafting taken to 500” part)
Some of the new crafting mats will be timegated but not account bound. Some other crafting mats will be account bound (and partly time-gated as well, likely).
Can we expect to lean Scarlet’s motives or are we to assume that she’s just crazy and is doing this for the lols?
People will learn more about Scarlet’s motives in time.
Still, for the moment, she seems to be a completely generic Maniacal Evil Laugh type villain no 12673. I know, that this type is currently in vogue because everyone wants to copy Joker, but offhand Joker is the only villain of that type that was ever done right. At the moment it’s just very hard to treat Scarlet seriously – if she’s to be a more permanent villain (instead of being a monster of the week), then she really should not have been introduced that way.
The fact that she’s a villain sue, backed by some very cheap and overdone tricks (like those asuran colleges and “everyone knows of Scarlet”) doesn’t help.
While it may have been my laptop being slow, the lines at the bottom of the screen seemed to be out of sync with the voices, the voices would come first and the text a second or two after.
Same for me, and i don’t think it was due to the my system’s specs – at the fullscale zerg invasions it was working just fine at highest details. Also, seemed to me that some subtitles were out of order (that might have been just a feeling caused by them being out of sync with the voices, though)
Scarlet has locked the arena down and is in there now doing mean things
If you help Vorpp reverse engineer the portal you can go in and kick her out, which will let you get back in to the arena proper.
You might have remembered to add to the previous info (about Gauntlet being accessible throughout the Speech story) that it will be a conditional access. I know that you might not have wanted to spoil the story, but it was still an important infomation.
Yep nothing happening here.
Then again i remember the Karka event, man that was a total mess as well.
It had a definite advantage over this one. Something was happening. You might not have seen huge parts of it due to culling and latency, but it was there.
Same on gandara
It is 100% my belief that I’ve read psychological studies at some point during my research that said straight out that given a choice, more humans by percentage will complain about something than compliment it. That much I remember. Finding those studies now, at this point in time, that’s another matter.
Nothing to do with what you were claiming.
It’s also not my belief that many many people left that other forum I moderated because of the amount of negativity they had to deal with.
Anectotal evidence. I have a lot of anecdotal evindences to the contrary. I’m not going to use those, because they are worth about as much as yours (meaning – not much)
The people who don’t want to play, those not enjoying the game, have a place to vent here.
Those people mostly don’t vent here, for the simple reason that they have left this game long ago.
Those enjoying the game have less reason to stay here and argue.
This, the core of your argument, is the unsupported belief i was talking about earlier.
And even here, people have contacted me to tell me they’re not going to post as much because they’d rather be playing and enjoying the game.
Again, anecdotal evidence that doesn’t actually prove anything. As you are very fast to point out anytime someone mentions their guild friends that are unhappy with the state of the game yet do not post here.
Definite proof? Surely not. A decent reason for an educated guess. I think so.
Yes. You think. Belief again.
Basically, if you are going to shoot down everyone that bases their assumptions on their feelings and what they seem is an educated guess, then you should not base your arguments on equally unsubstantiated claims.
Everything you have stated there is just your belief – even the “logic would dictate” part. It’s exactly as (un)supported as every other claim you attack on basis of no evidence. Please, use the same measure for your own posts as you use for the posts of other people.
Most who come to forums, come to complain.
Not to be nitpicking, but that is also an unsupported assumption. You don’t have any data about the reasons why people come to those forums.
A better description (in game!) would prevent many players from doing this particular mistake in the future.
Removing the Unique limitation (which at the moment has absolutely no useful function and is good only for annoying people) would be an even better solution.
Have you done fractals before? There’s no way he’s past level 15 without ever having a vial drop.
Oh, that’s definitely possible. I have seen much, much longer streaks of no vial (glob etc) drop. That’s the “beauty” of RNG.
They need some make SOME ascended backpacks available other places, definitely.
You are able to make ascended back pieces in the forge, just check wiki, the T3 frac capacitor is a symbol of hard work and respect for the both the person wearing it and the place in represents. imho.
Please, do explain to me how are you going to MF that backpiece (or any other currently available ascended backpiece) without visiting fractals.
Hi the boss can be done.first rule never use aoe if you aoe you will probably cant finish it you need to dodge when the boss shakes or the spiders will respawn and if you melee it will be lot more faster
You need to double dodge. In synchro with all of your team. Good luck to that. Good luck if you happen to have a ranger in your party, too.
in 15 fractals you should have at least one Vial of Condensed Mists Essence. Take that and follow the mystic forge recipe on this page.
If you don’t want to do fractals for it then it only costs, 24 skill points and some gold to buy the rest of what you need from the TP. Toss it all in the mystic forge and you don’t have to step another foot in a fractal or level any crafting profession.
This is all pretty much irrelevent if the OP has not dropped the Vial yet. Which i believe is what he’s been talking about.
Frankly, vials should have been added to the fractal merchant (either normal or pristine tab) long ago. I’m not even going to mention that the backpacks should be accessible through other means, like other ascended gear. Also long ago.
Oh wait, i did mention it.
