My apologies i think i mistakenly derailed this thread. I was trying to bring the perspective of someone who has transferred and that my feelings post transfer are so strong that i wouldn’t consider my “home” server a fit place for me to be anymore. I wasn’t trying to call out any servers, i wasn’t trying to discuss what properties of a server warrant someone to transfer i just wanted to make it know that people don’t transfer to break WvW match-ups they transfer because they are looking for somewhere better for them than where they are. My apologies to anyone on GoM if you’ve taken issue with what i said, i should have never mentioned the server i transferred from. For the record i transferred the first week of October…. in 2012.

You could not force me back to GoM with a gun to my head. Everyone who transfers has a reason and almost always it is because they seek to gain and improve their experience by moving. No one leaves a server that is best for them. Population stacking is a problem and one that should be addressed by Anet and the players who are leaving for poor reasons, but it is never so great a problem that players should move to servers that are bad for them. Because players on another server suffer for my leaving is not reason enough to suggest anyone should feel bad about looking for greener pastures, perhaps if more servers were inviting there would be less stacking.

First place in each league are the only ones that get a finisher. Gold league 1st gets gold…silver league 1st gets silver and Bronze league 1st gets bronze.

This is how they were rewarded. 2nd and 3rd in gold silver and bronze leagues do not get finishers.

I can tell it’s Waypoint Challenge Friday for TC, where players all across the server compete to see who can open their map fastest and quadruple-click the nearest WP marker when faced with an even fight.

Bonus points for 180 degree turn to whirlwind —> rush --> bull’s charge while doing it.

Have to work on our cardio, hard to get the endurance that the runners on Mag have <3

The rewards for everyone should have been better and the finisher should have been permanent for the season.

Do you want even more non-WvW players in WvW chasing rewards?

Do you play WvW for the rewards or for the game mode itself?

First we complain about too many PvE players chasing rewards and then we complain about not good enough rewards. There is no right answer and so we the WvW community look like a bunch of whiny jerks and then we wonder why Anet doesn’t want to give us more attention.

I agree the rewards are lame but I honestly can’t think of anything that would have made me excited that would NOT have also had a more detrimental effect in filling WvW with more rally-bait carrot-chasers.

My point is – no matter how correct or justified you are, know what you want to accomplish and be constructive towards it because right now we’re just solidifying our place on the back burner.

You realize there are multiple opinions within the WvW community right? I for example never bemoaned having more PvE players in WvW and i am devastated that the rewards for the season are so insulting. Others hate that pve players came into WvW and don’t care about the rewards. Which one of us is a true WvWer? The answer is both of us. This community is made up of individuals with varied and at times conflicting opinions.

Would i make ANY effort to complete them judging from the rewards this season? No, absolutely not.

except for the minor changes that didn’t do anything to promote actual sort of balanced competition and the GvG area. nothing has changed.. gameplay is still boring and tedious. the maps are still unimaginative and made out of stock. (i know jumping puzzles that have more active gameplay and more imaginative design thenWvW ^^)

Add the fact everyone has his or her warrior leveled now and are all running the same exact builds makes this even more tedious.(except maybe when you outnumber your opponent then its all gravy and you wont hear those people complain much )
so yeah, people are still running hammertrains.. are still playing the same maps.. are still doing the same old conquest based gameplay.
40% of the time people are running around, another 40% of the time people are either waiting on gates to drop, waiting on buffs to expire, waiting for a cap or waiting for enemies to show up.. the other 20% is combat.. and that is a grenerous estimation..

so to answer your question, has anything fresh and new been introduced to make wvw interesting? No.. come back in 2015…

I’m talking about three servers here,

Blackgate
Fort Aspenwood
Henge of Denravi

Although their coverage and WvW participation are in different leagues, they all won 7 rounds undefeated. Besides the first week match with BG/JQ/SoR all of the matches that these 3 servers had were blowouts, the competing servers never had a chance. The players on these servers are not to blame, they all should enjoy the rewards they earned, however I think it will be unhealthy for WvW in the long term when some servers have a monopoly on winning. I’d like to see more competitive matches in Season 2, WvW will be more fun for all of us if that happens.

And I’m from Dragonbrand, I’m not sore about anything, we never had a chance at 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.

Every server has the same opportunity to get the coverage they need… HoD, BG, FA all put in work to get to where they are at right now.

Im trying to decide whether this guy is new to BG/WvW, purposely twisting these things across multiple threads because he was asigned and job or truely believes what he is saying, also the tags are interesting, PPT is still king in some peoples minds?

PPT is the point of the game for still a great number of players. As with any scoreboard system people can’t help but get agitated when it doesn’t look as they think it should. I think fewer and fewer will end up caring about ppt, but i hope Anet does a work over of the scoring system to promote it is something important and something competitive rather than how it typically is now.

I disagree with pt 3. Trebs attacking gates is one of few ways to deal quickly with massive zerg rushes and alpha rushes on gates. If you remove more defensive options all you will see is more blobbing- which was certainly the case with the cata splash damage removal.

TC may be of interest to you.

WvW wise TC has grown gradually and stuck fast over the past year. We are continually improving and have a community receptive to all sorts. We don’t spam queue maps when we are losing but even when times are tough our core and our militia are out there forwarding the Glory of the Toast. We have karma trains, raomers, ppt- centric guilds, gvg-centric guilds, you name it and it is on TC. We have meetings to coordinate reset and server wide forums for WvW postings. We also have a server wide mumble. If you have to question whether or not TC has fight in them look to our match-up last week where we got out there every night to eek ahead of SoR for the week.

TC is also the unofficial role-playing server for the NA region. Being a role-playing server means we have a diverse and active community that leads to an active PvE side of things. We typically have server wide events organized by players and guilds, ranging from races to trivia, scavenger hunts to beauty contests. LA is often plagued with a short queue or close to it and it is not uncommon to find players in almost any zone doing any dungeon or even running temples, etc.

I guarantee you we saw ACs at least 3 times in open field fights last night. I know, because we focused them and the people on them first. It was still fun fights the whole night, but it totally happened.

Edit: I should add that it was never VR people on the ACs, but it was in their fights.

No, you are supposed to blame a PuG for the AC. How are you going to keep the “we too L337 for siege” image going if you just claim there wasn’t one when they saw it.

Also I’m fairly sure it wasnt AoN, but vulture type of play from them is believable. They’ve stood off and jumped into fights before. Go as far as to spawn camp and then run away as fast as possible when they get even number fights as well. Either that, or they’re just kiting, which they seem to be the kings of. We all know what happens to [NOPE] when you run 8-10 men. From our end, it becomes a guild-wide challenge to see how little CDs we have to use during the fight.

Any T1 server or TC will have a strong PvE presence and community.

Most servers will have some server wide community events.

TC has additional RP ontop of server events.

T1 will be the easiest to get used to in WvW, really competitive, you won’t get stomped in any week you play in so you can just hook on for the ride. If you are interested in learning to fight and punch above your weight class go to a T2/T3 server such as TC,SoS,Mag, SBI, or FA.

I’ve had the most fun on TC from the servers i’ve been on, but i don’t think you can go wrong with the top 6- just really about what you are looking for.

I remember there being siege events in pve where npcs fire siege at you, and the dulfy encounter in fractals has the same so it should be something not too difficult to implement

I implore you to make the simple changes now and get to work as soon as feasibly possible on a squad management ui.

Get new commander tags, new colors for tags, new supplyinfo, new suppression changes out ASAP. These changes will be a QoL change that will get momentum in the right direction.

Get to work on a squad ui with raid calls, group management, health bars, etc.as soon as you can. this would be a huge boon for organized WvW.

I can accept loudmouths but SoR for the longest while has been much much more than that. If the attitudes i notice was confined to 5,6,7 people? no biggie, but in this case it is held by many many more than that.

This rather funny considering all I have seen from TC is huge blobs without much organisation that continually got wiped by zergs with half their numbers.

Plus TC is known by those servers below them for doing nothing but blobbing.

I am from SoR and from what I have seen lately I dont think we are going to do much next week… I dont see the big WvW guilds in good numbers anymore… I do not know if any guild left or why SoR is not showing as it did in the past but the fact is we are not fighting as before.

If TC gets the second place for this match the third place of the season is theirs, they will certainly win their last match and SoR would have to win the last round against BG and JQ… and I cant see this happening.

Event if we can get second today TC will tie with us, I do not know what ANet will do with ties.

We had good fights during this season, it was fun and brought some new challenges in WvW… unfortunally SoR could not get the place I expected, I just hope the big guilds will not transfer because of that, we have a very strong community here and it would be sad to see it breaking.

But in regards to fighting 60 with 35 being fun, it’s not fun at least not to me. I actually find it excruciating and boring to fight a battle that I know I am going to lose 10 times out of 10.

Thanks for the fights this last week, seeing tc coming out so strong was in all honesty pretty surprising but SoRs slow start to the week can probably attributed the game that shall not be named. No doubt SoR will come out guns blazing next week. Good luck for your next matchups SoR and tc.

I play on SOR and I don’t really care. The fights are good and we will beat the crud out of TC when they don’t get helped by JQ. I have to give tc credit for the win. However, it’s kinda sad to see groups of thieves from both JQ and TC roaming and ganking together without fighting each other.

I love this game. I have been here from the beginning and need some help from the devs. I play on a T1 server (Black Gate) and exclusively WvW when I login. The issue I face is that when I get home, login, there are hours of queues to get into the borderlands or EB where fighting takes place.

I know that new overflow maps are coming, but I really wanted to get this meta ache done (since our server will rein number one after the season).

I find myself loggin in, seeing the que and just logging out again. I havent play GW2s in a month for more then a few mins because of this.

Anet, I love this game and love supporting it, but I don’t think I’m alone in this.

Let me clarify a few things:

1. There is no morale superiority in not working overtime. It’s just the way SOR in general wants to work.

2. The focus is ALWAYS 1st on winning the fights, the 2nd priority is winning the ppt. PPT is important but it’s 2nd priority. We will want to win but looking at how EU has evolved, we recognize that some guilds want to focus on winning the fights 1st vs watching objectives/ppt for other time zones and we want to grow that type of community. So yes, we are still looking for guilds to field our time zones that we cannot cover because we want to win but not at the expense of working overtime.

3. I did some checks, the reason why we are gaining PPT is because quite a few of the guys and girls are back from ESO, nothing more.

Exactly, dont you know, they’re going to pull more 15+ hour shifts to catch up, then brag about beating a T2 server at the end of the week like they’ve been known to do in the past…. or maybe SoR’s a changed server, which would be awfully nice, and appreciates how actually close this matchup has been.

Are you sure? SoR is (generally speaking) not known to pull off crazy hours. The server known to pull off crazy hours is BG because their primary goal is to win. SoR has always been more about fights, rather than winning.

This old line again? Look, I respect SoR as a server, I really do. You guys rose up from a lower tier and have been excellent competition over the past 6 months of coverage wars and other BS between the big 3.

However, SoR is like any other T1 server in that you really want to win, if you didn’t want to win, you wouldn’t be in T1. That’s not a bad thing by any means, but stop trying to pull the moral superiority card every time your server is having issues.

Yawn, excuses excuses excuses. SoR refuses to just admit certain things and this is what tarnishes my opinion of them most.
