It fires you in a direct path. I really only used it at the start after you get up that giant hill, and there’s a spot where you have the glide forever shortly after that. Then the long skinny branch that is completely straight, and at the end.

Oh, btw, when you click #2 you click it again to stop early. Took me a few tries to notice that. I’d suggest making it all the way without #2 then adding that in. Bronze is totally achievable without it.

Well, for every uphill jump I used the #3 skill and for all the straight shots I used #2. I figured out via a video you can open your glider AND use #2 so that was a huge time saver. I actually put about five failed attempts into it, then I took it slow to learn the path and got bronze. I then watched the video and was able to get silver. The failed attempts were all relatively short as I was perfecting the first minute or so.

  1. was pretty much used on CD.

This ones a tough one. I actually tried it out for the first time earlier today and I made silver by 3 seconds. I said “yup that’s enough of this for awhile.”

I’m basically going through all the adventures and getting at least silver unless gold is possible with minimal effort.

The only issue I see is the fact that hardmode would have to give increased rewards to make it appealing and this would still gate the casual community from “unfairness.” The hardcore community wants increased difficulty but they also want something to show for it. Raiding would be a hell of a lot less appealing if there were no achievements or rewards. The same would go with a hardmode server and I believe this would increasingly sever the casual community from this game.

I think the larger issue is the amount of time a casual player has to put into this game, but then again, how do you design an effective MMO that doesn’t require endless amounts of time? It’s this lack of understanding that drives me crazy when casuals call for nerfs. The casual player needs to understand that if he can only put in 30 minutes a day then he will be severe disadvantage when comparing to the player that puts in 5-15 hours a day, and this is the way it should be. This game (Or any online game) would not be appealing if the player who plays 30 minutes on average a day was rewarded the same as the person who lives in his mom’s basement and plays 15 hours a day. You can’t punish the dedicated gamer.

That is an intriguing idea, I wonder if this game has the population to support that. That would be so much work on their side.

The content in GW2/HoT really isn’t even that restricting to a certain play-style either. You can pretty much use whatever weapon you want with whatever stats you want and get away with doing 90% of the content. Meta builds and optimization is really only important when aiming towards raids/high-level sPvP. Even the builds and classes you bring to raid compositions can vary so much which is rare in a 10 man group.

I agree, when you play a game you are suppose to gradually become better. If you refuse to play then it will not happen. If you are on a limited schedule then it will happen slowly, but it should happen. The skill ceiling is extremely low in this game when comparing to other MMO’s. (Excluding raids/spvp)

I would absolutely love to see someone who finds HoT challenging to try and play through GW1.

As a general response to this thread – I think one gaming became casual when gamers grew up. There’s a point a lot of us reach where we still love gaming, but feel like we’ve gotten as good at video games as we need or care to be, and don’t enjoy anything that demands more from us.

I understand and agree. I’m still in my 20’s so I’m not quite there but I can understand not wanted to dedicate 3-6 hours a week to raiding. This is the only thing I see though when it comes to content that is too difficult. When I see threads calling for blanket nerfs over HoT because content is just “too frustrating!” and the entire OP is written in horrible grammer/spelling/structure I can’t help but think that it’s some kid whining. Everything is possible and relatively low challenge in this game given time. Time is the factor and nerfing will not fix this.

It may just be bad RNG with server placement but usually they close when the population gets too low… Sometimes they close when they shouldn’t :P

I understand what you are saying though and it’s simply luck if you are able to accomplish what you set out to do with only 30 minutes to play. They upped the reward of HP’s so I understand why they upped the difficulty. I would still think you’d be able to get map competition eventually though. It took me about 10-12 hours so that’s kitten near month for you >.<

I disagree though that you can’t just log on and play. There’s a very small window where there isn’t some Meta event starting. You can find the timers here:

http://dulfy.net/2015/11/09/gw2-hot-maps-timer-famme/

Besides that there is a lot of other content to do which could potentially be completed in 30 minute segments. It is honestly not realistic though to play this game for that short of a time.

I don’t have a problem when the game first come out, maps are full of people, and I have 10 hours a day to burn.

But now when I play 30 minutes a day, I log in, hard to get any thing done, get frustrated solo, can’t find people, and log out.

Are you sure? I’ve been playing for the past three hours on Auric Basin and Dragon’s Stand. When I started off in Auric Basic it was about 40 minutes prior to the challenges and the map had two tags running events and another running a HP train. Stayed there till the meta then immediately went to Dragon’s Stand about 12 minutes prior to the Meta beginning. There was already a squad there with about 50 people grouped up waiting.

Yesterday evening (about 3 hours from now) I was on Verdant Brink (about 30 minutes prior to nightfall) trying to complete the Adventures. Map chat was alive and there was two separate groups getting the outpost metas done.

I’m going to be real with you though. I think the major reason you are finding unhappiness in this game is due to the fact that you only have 30 minutes a day to play. Nerfing content won’t fix this. That sort of schedule does not really work with this game and it really won’t work in any MMO. MMO’s are very time demanding with the assumption that when you play you play for at least an hour or two. It’s extremely difficult to develop content that caters to the player who has less than an hour to play.

What defines easy v. hard? Failure chance? How does ANet address the fact that failure often generates conflict (blaming)?

Where on the skill continuum must the line be drawn? If a given player is at the 98th percentile in skill, where does the line have to be for the event to be hard for that player? If the line must be at his/her level, does that exclude 97% of the player-base? ANet “likes” large-scale content. In order to foster that type of play, most of the rewards are behind that kind of content, which means that a large segment of the player-base wants both to take part and to succeed.

I would say success/fail rates do play a major role in the definition of challenging content but it is not a game producer’s job to baby the players who are blamed for failed content. I understand that “safe spaces” are a huge things in the world with the Internet being what it is but people need to get thicker skin. If you are not failing then you are not learning and knowledge is everything. If you mess up, correct it. If you are unable to complete a mechanic then figure out why! I wouldn’t say content is gated by anywhere near 98/97%. In this games current state I would speculate that the vast majority is able to complete everything outside of high level fractals/raids. In this game’s current state the only thing that is really gated behind challenging content is the speculation of legendary armor, and I agree this shouldn’t be a thing, although there needs to be an exclusive reward system for raiding. Like a said above I believe a nerfed down raid difficulty with massive reward nerfs would be a fantastic compromise.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m fine with the existence of hard content. However, the design considerations are more complex than some posters seem to think they should be.

It goes both ways and this is why I decided to start this thread. People seem to complain without knowledge of what they are actually talking about. They put 10 minutes into Verdant Brink and they call for nerfs. Dudes, figure out why you are unable to complete content that hundreds of thousands of players have completed before you.

My take on GW2 with regard to challenge is that the open events should be geared towards the 50th %ile, and raids to the 90th. There’s enough room in open events for some players below the 50th to succeed if there are enough above. I’m disappointed, though, that raids are as accessible as they are. I think they should have been the scratching post for the challenge itch, not just the poster child for marketing.

The thing is, the open events are literally geared towards 100% of the community in its current state. You would have to be completely new to MMO’s to not be able to participate in HoT meta events. I could of easily did this when I was 12. What does this say about 40-50 year olds who are complaining. I agree with raids and I think the only solution is duel difficulties where the harder difficulty provides much higher rewards.

This is the monster you’ve created.

Will you continue to dump more and more resources into extremely short lived content for what appears to be a significantly smaller player base?

You have to know there’s no such thing as permanent content for hard core players.

I believe the opposite. Content that is challenging will last longer than content that is hand delivered to you in a basket. What causes a game to be “short lived” are the massive nerfs that the minority is calling for. Stating that this content appeals to a significantly smaller player base is made-up speculation. People with complaints are usually the loudest voice while people who are content are quiet. Game forums are never a good gauge to view how the community feels about something.

Even casuals will run out of things to do once everything is achievable and then eventually quit. Players who stick around will typically lose this casual feeling as they become progressively better at this game. What nerfs do is cater to the temporary community that is short-lived while the people who have been participating in Tyria activities since 2005 feel screwed.

Coming from a raiding guild’s perspective from other MMOs, the only purpose of raids in GW2 is to sell the game to that audience. Back at launch, without raids, people simply didn’t know what to do, so they quit. ArenaNet’s trying to tap back into that and it did work for a bit. I doubt making multiple versions is worth the resources, because the goal is to provide that content at a minimal cost. I also wouldn’t count on seeing more than 1 raid per expansion.

To be fair, even GW1 had raids although they were less “formal.” I am 100% for raiding and a week into HoT I made it my mission to find a raiding guild. Two weeks in to HoT I got a full clear through wing one. The vast majority of MMO’s have some sort of raiding even if it isn’t labeled as that. It’s simply been defined by the MMO community as PvE end content.

I was simply saying for people who only have interest in easy content a good compromise would a sort of LFR raid where composition and skill really doesn’t matter. Legendary armor becomes obtainable to those who are complaining although I believe it should take a tenfold amount of time it would take to participate in regular raiding.

I will admit raiding is not “casual friendly” but this isn’t the purpose of my thread though ^.^ I’m simply tired of seeing all these “I PRESS 1 A LOT AND CONTENT IS TOOOO HARD” threads.

Hey guys,

Edit: First and foremost if there is any content that people are struggling with I will be more than happy to answer questions here. This is a response to all the threads calling for nerfs without speculation on the impact this will have on the game or even a real understanding on how this game works. It is absolutely absurd to me that people find this content to be difficult so discuss, ask questions, but please do not be rude or you’ll have to answer to me. If you are struggling seek the resources you need to overcome these challenges. Blatant complaining is backwards progressive to yourself and the community.

It’s my opinion that all HoT content is simply way too easy. I hear claims that maps are empty and that events can not be solo’d. This simply is not true. Maps are alive with constant activity and if you even have the slightest clue as to what you are doing you will find it is really no trouble at all. People have this expectation that casual content is equal to mindless content and this is simply not true. Casual content means it is content that you can do at your own pace. There’s no rush, literally.

It is true, that HoT is against solo players… but let me ask you this: Why are you playing a MMO with the intent of being 100% solo? This has nothing to do with being “casual.” I mean what else in Central Tyria is solo-able besides the outdated exploration? With the addition of HoT random mobs we’re given mechanics that you NEED to pay attention to. If you stand still while fighting snipers with a giant target over your head…. You’re going to have a bad time. I’m sorry if you consider this “not casual” and had the expectation of spamming 1 and literally destroying mobs.

If you think the meta events are too challenging you should definitely check out some of the pre-HoT meta events such as triple trouble. HoT meta events are literally the most mindless events I have ever seen. It’s nearly impossible to fail. I can understand if you refuse to use an outside source timer such as dulfy’s timer though and you end up missing every meta. I mean why would someone who is casual do that?

Let’s talking raiding. So, you’re playing a MMO yet you don’t want to associate with others. You can’t be bothered to actually learn how to play your class to its maximum potential. I mean, you’re casual of course! So, let’s look at the options. I can think of three off the top of my head. You can opt out of raiding, losing out on rewards such as legendary armor that is nonexistent and entirely speculation. You can do an hour or two of research and apply to a few guilds searching for raiders. Or you can come to the forums and post a thread on how raiding should be removed immediately despite the little effect it has on your own personal gameplay. I’d personally suggest one or two, but you know, the game needs to stay casual friendly.

Let’s talk sPvP and how it has become “e-sports.” I really don’t have much to say here. So, they decided to add in some in-game recognition where basically every casual alive can achieve diamond rank, but those who can not be bothered to learn strategy or play their class correctly seem to struggle. Rather than asking for advice, or seeking outside resources they opt to come to the forums and complain about their reality check. I mean come on! Shouldn’t the max rank in sPvP be rewarded to everyone??? I thought this game was casual friendly, not e-sports! /cry

What’s the point of gaming when everything requires thought processes and critical thinking! Isn’t the main point of gaming to instantly blow through content on the easiest settings? If you play Elder Scrolls and you’re not turning the difficulty down all the way then you’re doing it wrong (sarcasm.) All you asking for nerfs, do you really think this will help with the longitivtiy of the game if everything can be achieved instantly? I bought this expansion around three weeks ago. I blew through the story in two days. I got 100% map completion before week one was over. What is not casual about this? I do not understand. Y’all need a little more challenge in your life. GW1 was solid gold for its time. This… this is brainless content with the hopes that they will release something somewhat challenging.

This post is sort of a joke, sort of not. I simply do not want to see the future of the game I’ve been playing since GW1 Prophecies release nerfed into some hello kitty island adventure.

The one thing I can agree on is raiding. Raiding is not casual, but it is not unachievable. It requires effort. A solution to this would be the release of a easy-mode raid with massive reward reductions. I enjoy raiding, I am glad they added it into the game, but every reward needs to be accessible to noobs. No need to call for the removal of it though. Trust me, more than 1% of the player-base is able to down these bosses.

Thanks, and remember, this is mainly a joke regarding all the threads calling for nerfs. The goal is for GW2 to gradually increase in difficulty, not decrease.

I understand your frustrations, I was trying to get some shooting gallery in last night. I waited about 30 minutes for it to open up and I had enough time to give it four tries before it closed back down. That’s approximately 8 minutes and I’d have to wait another 45 minutes or so for it to unlock again. Not to mention shooting gallery is absolutely absurd.

Anet mentioned something awhile back about working on the availability of adventures via the April “nerf-all-content” patch.

I didn’t read this thread, I just couldn’t… but thanks for the laugh!

Also thanks for dropping a raid review the day before a new wing was released and basically said nothing besides how usual raid mechanics work, and that you did not like it.

I give you an S for satisfactory on the elementary scale.

Edit: I did some more reading (I know I lied to myself) and what Thaddeus.4891 said was pretty spot on. An easier mode with less rewards would be fantastic for casual players. Emphasis on LESS rewards. I am a bit skeptical about balancing every possible role a class could play due to the fact that this would be near impossible. Every class has a clutch spec that outputs the most damage. It’s simple math. This is present in every MMO that works in this way. I think this game does a fantastic job on allowing for diversity when you compare it to games such as WoW. You really are not tied to a certain group composition although, obviously, some compositions will be more optimal than others. This is why class diversity is important. You need to know how to play multiple roles if you want to be involved in raiding.

Also, there are DPS meters you can download from outside sources. Google it. The thing is hardcore players have already done the math from a loooong time ago. This won’t help you figure out what is best. If anything metabattle will do that.

Also, Harpers response was pretty spot on.

Why bother nerfing after 6 month and many people quitting in disgust. A little too late!

Do you really think nerfing content would make people stick around longer? That’s like complaining that a FPS shooter took you 3 hours to beat but you played through it on the lowest difficulty. People would become extremely bored and leave.

Challenging content requires thought process and critical thinking. Why am I dying here? Why are other players successful? What can I do to become successful? Asking for nerfs will simply reduce the appeal of this game, as it would with any other game.

As for maps being empty. This is not true even to this day. If you find yourself on an empty map then this is probably because you do not have a full understanding on how meta events work.

Last Reply,@Barbra. See I can do these things too.

You have me confused with someone else. I have completed this fight. As I said originally, I merely chimed in to confirm the apparent bug others have experienced but you, apparently, have not.

I guess my question is: How did we manage to mess up this complicated maneuver of simply running right into the updraft that’s right next you?

I must of been confused by your usage of “we.”

As evidence: You are only able to activate the updrafts by jumping off of another object and gliding through them. I was also able to reproduce this. However, I was also able to hit my interact keybind while standing in/near or running through the updrafts to activate them. This worked every single time I attempted it, without fail. However, I noticed that there was no interact icon to indicate that this was possible (I expect that’s why you went through the trouble of jumping and gliding rather than simply walking up to them and interacting).

So what you’re saying is this bug isn’t game-breaking and I am right. It isn’t worth coming to a thread and posting nonsense once a month. (Referring to the OP) Thanks.

So, to sum up: There appears to be some variance in how these updrafts function. Given that, it’s likely there is some sort of bug in play here. Your premise that I am whining because I can’t complete the fight is ridiculous because I have completed it, easily.

I’m not referring to you, although you made it seem like you were having trouble yourself. I’m referring to the OP. Try to stick to the subject of a thread when you post.

Assuming that everyone is able to activate these updrafts via the interact keybind as I was, all we really need is to place an interact icon on the updrafts as they do with virtually every other interactable object in the game. That would be my suggestion on this one, to avoid confusion and frustration in what should otherwise be an enjoyable, albeit rather easy boss.

Sure, this is a quality of life fix. This isn’t a game-breaking bug as you, others, and the OP indicate. I was easily able to figure out a work-around on my first try two weeks ago, the second day I picked up this game, from around the release of Drytop. The question is, Is this thread really worth the trouble, or should the OP perhaps… oh I don’t know… try something different.

If you’re wondering why I’m rude in threads such as these it’s because I really despise posts following the parameters of “This doesn’t work, Anet sucks, Anet will never fix this because they fix nothing.” NO, fix yourself fool. Again, this isn’t directed at you. Either give a recording, post it under bug reports, open a ticket, or I don’t know… maybe rethink your strat rather than necro’ing your own post.

It keeps new players from accessing high level fractals instantly. AR is gained through fractals. Why doesn’t this make sense? I don’t want to see some guy with a personal level of 3 coming into a 90+ fractal. There’s a fine line between daily grinds and grinding tools to make difficult content accessible.

Let’s take WoW for example. You don’t just hop straight into mythic raiding. You grind LFR and dungeons to get low level gear. You then move to normal/heroic raiding. When you are in full heroic gear you move on to mythic raiding. Guild Wars has never been about gear, so they chose another route.

AR makes perfect sense to me.

Well, I “only” encountered two (and a half) problems with the gliding phases.
1) after the initial jump, there’s a small delay where you can’t open the glider. If you press space directly after jumping, it won’t work. I usually try to tap space 2-3 times to make sure. (That could lead to insta-undeploying the glider again, but it hasn’t happen to me during my 7 Mordremoth fights).
2) Mordremoth spawns this circular AoE that sucks you into the center (the only place where you don’t get damaged) – sometimes this AoE is bad timed and stays during the start of a gliding phase. This will suck you towards the ground even if you’re in the air at that moment when you’re flying above it…
3) I didn’t try it often, but Braham’s shield doesn’t seem to be very helpful. However, I’m not sure if this is a bug or not. It would be a bit strange if you could simply skip all gliding phases just by joining the NPCs.

PS: I saw a developer on reddit a few days ago, and he mentioned that he’ll look into some Heart and Mind story bugs. Maybe this will fix the most common problems.

Hey there,

So one thing about the gliders I’ve noticed is while you are going vertically up your glider will not deploy. You have to wait till you are descending. I also noticed that in order to deploy your glider you must be at a distance that is vertically higher than jumping. I didn’t run into the problem you mentioned in #2 but if I recall correctly, while gliding I never went directly above modre. I didn’t bring Braham with me either so I can not answer that question unfortunately.

Alright big guy, you’re all talk. Let’s see some actual proof behind what you are claiming. This ongoing “bug” that has prevented the OP from completing this within the span of months.

I am a skeptic. Question everything. There is a fine line between unable to complete a mechanic and an actual glitch with the mechanic. Seems like the majority of the community does not have this issue. What is causing it for specific people? When I say specific I mean a tiny miniature portion of the community that is claiming “bug.”

If you’d like I can give you a tour of this “bug” and show you what you need to do to avoid this mechanic… Oh oops I mean “bug.”

Notice how this thread got so many hits prior to the necro. It must of been a huuuuge deal. In fact, take notice on how it’s not even posted in the right forums.

Add me, I can certainly help you. Im assuming the numbers are way up there seeing as the majority of players are pretty up there on the mastery points at this point in the expansion. Also, according to an IGN article GW2 hit 7 million accounts in august. I think my estimate is a very safe estimate. The point I’m trying to make is maybe this isn’t a bug. Maybe it’s an issue that can be solved by trying something else. I had issues with the updraft mechanic but I got past that.

Can anyone tell me what the definition of insanity is? Would it correlate with the OP necroing his own thread to state he’s doing the same exact thing with the same result? Seriously, add me and I will help you finish this mission.

Edit: From reviewing videos I notice people are instantly launched in the air. This was not what I did. I actually glided slightly off the ground into the updraft mechanic which then launched me. I didn’t know it was as simple as stepping into it to be honest.

There have been many many complaints about this quest not just 1 or 2 isolated players. So, your sarcasm isn’t warranted.

Sorry, let me put this in perspective. Hundreds of thousands of players have completed this… But by all means the issue you are having over MONTHS must be an Anet issue. I’m sure all these other issues regarding “I can’t complete this mechanic therefore it is bugged” are soooooo true. It’s easier to complain rather than figure out where you’re going wrong. Thanks for your opinion though.

I personally had an issue with the updrafts. Then I discovered you needed to either hop from a slightly higher location or get a running start. Nearly caused me a death. Still 1-shot that underpowered boss though. What’s my point? If it’s not working, try something else. Gliders never open on even ground.

None of this even pertains to the OP… I don’t even know why I’m bothering but I am…

Fair WvW
No more Server vs. Server, make things fair, the teams should be the same size, because some servers is low poppulation, some don’t like WvW, you know the “your map is empty, join another”, use this system, “your team it’s too big, join another and receive a bonus.”

This would completely destroy WvW. This is why servers are based on tiers. It’s not completely balanced but it’s pretty close. If you find yourself on a server such as Anvil Rock and you are looking for serious WvW play then I would suggest transferring.

Loading Screens
The amount of Load screens is too —-— high, add a lot of arts for the same place, we know arena net have tons of it; Let us use the menus like Hero and Inventory; And low down the Lion Arch loading, I know it loads everything because the first time you enter, there is an animation, and then on, everytime you enter, all the city is loaded.

I don’t even know what to say to this…

Legendary trail look like drops of poop.
Make look like an real trail.
I have an Asura so, my legendary doesn’t apper and the Norn 2-h Sword waves on 50% of my screen, while my axe look like an dart, so make the weapon size become the same size for all races, that’s fair, and they won’t magically chance size between characters. And it’ll be funny to see an Asura usa 2-h weapons

It would make zero sense to give a Norn and Asura the same size weapon. Are you playing on low graphics? Why did you make a legendary if you don’t like it? Zzzzzz

Cloth and Leather skins looks like dresses.
Seriously, all dresses, even for males.

This is so freaking far from the truth it isn’t even funny.

Update the visuals for old content.
The older spells most of time undershines, did you see the necro and ranger pets? Most of horn and focus skills? And the Engineer turrets? Look! I have an old photograph tower! So ugly!
The area damage from opponents as a red lined circle. <- this!!!

I’m still convinced you’re playing on the lowest settings possible. Great suggestion though they should definitely put all their focus on this…….. Zzzzzz

Keys Stash – CASH chaching $_$
Writs of experience, stuff from spirit shards shop, doubloons, black lion chest, fossilized insects, vision cristal, agony infusions, boosters, anything that our stash character is holding.

I don’t even know what you’re talking about here.

Usefull NPC have priority to “say” NPCs.
Try to use an NPC, like shops, mystic forge, profession table or the auction house and there is a “hello” NPC beside. /kick the “hi” NPC

Do you run into this problem often? lol

Fantastic post though, I’ll give you a 1/10. 1 for participation.

Some of the excuses here boggle my mind. Last night, the PvP room I frequent was empty for the first time. My wife cannot get a full map anywhere to get her legendary done. And certain areas are now all but ghosted.

Yes, a certain and new MMO is drawing attention away, but the writing was on the wall long before that came out.

Is HoT fail?

. . .

Can anyone ask that question with a straight face?

Weird, I was PvPing last night and HotM was popping. When I run metas there are several full servers. I assume you’re talking about the new HoT maps. Certain areas that are “all but ghosted…” I assume you’re referring to the maps that no longer pertain to max level users which has nothing to do with HoT profits.

Is HoT fail? I say not to the length you guys are stating. It nearly doubled its profits from Q3 to Q4. Did you expect HoT to launch gem sales into oblivion? The majority of the game is still vanilla GW2. This isn’t an expansion to the length that most other games deliver. If anything your post is fail.

If you guys want the game to die out so badly… why don’t you just leave? Why make pointless speculation on matters that none of us can truly argue for or against.

Legendary Armor - raid bound

Avarice.2791

You transmuted a legendary? You are nuts. That makes zero sense lol why wouldn’t you grab ascended.

Here’s my opinion. Legendary armor should not be gathered through sPvP. Why? Because armor plays no role in sPvP with the exception of transmog. It wouldn’t make sense to offer something as prestigious as legendary armor through WvW either. Why? It is literally the most mindless content unless you are commanding. That would be like throwing out legendary weapons for HoT meta event content.

I would not be against legendaries being partially gained through high level fractals (75+) but this is the way MMO’s go. If you want the best, you need to play the best. Raiding is really not that difficult in this game. Optimize your character, find a guild/group, clear content. Sorry buddy, looks like you’re out. You can only buy so much of your “soul” with real life money. Some things in this game need to be earned.

There needs to be rewards in this game for clearing high level content. You are essentially quitting due to transmog.

Also, MMOs aren’t exactly strategy games and reactionary combat doesn’t require thought. If you can /follow a target and press a 1 button macro, you can be a hardcore raider in WoW.

It’s pretty clear you’ve never played WoW, or you’re exaggerating to make some strange point. One button, really? Are you sure you aren’t describing this game in the particular situation the OP is describing? If you’re capable of following a target and pressing 1 in GW2 you’ll be just fine in the Zerg mentality. The OP is complaining about open world content in this game as a Ranger. I was able to solo most of the champ HP’s as a Ranger.

It’s also clear you didn’t play GW1. That game was solid gold and entirely strategic, as is this game… as is every game. Strategic you ask? Well look at your build, your gear, what rotation you’re using. You strategize what you want to accomplish then you execute. If you’re running around as a zerk ranger with melee weapons against this open world content…. you’re going to have a bad time. Sorry, I completely disagree with you when you state MMO’s aren’t strategic.

Sorry I don’t want this game nerfed into the ground because a couple of people are struggling…. with easy mobs…. You don’t even need so associate with people to get credit for meta content… Just show up and do the right thing…

In WoW for example, if you’re not good enough, you simply get better gear to compensate. GW2’s equivalent is actually bringing more people since the content doesn’t scale 1:1.

You do realize they buff up new zones to accommodate for the next tier of gear given, right? You don’t scale in that game so eventually content becomes outdated while competitive content remains fresh.

I really don’t understand this. I bought the expac, and completed the entire living story without associating with one person. Sure, there were hundreds of other players present while I was completing objectives, but I wasn’t forced to group up and talk with them.

Don’t nerf a game when it isn’t broken. I will continue to fight for this because I don’t want to see the game I love transformed into some hello kitty island adventure. Look, if you don’t want to associate with others, why are you playing a MMO? That makes no sense to me.

Is the expectation here that you can pull 10 mobs and instantly solo all of them? Or, like most MMO’s do you have to be strategic about how you clear content, pulling the least amount (Or however much you can handle) of mobs at a time.

Lastly, I agree that if no one is around then soloing some content is near impossible in this game, but the good news is that this will pretty much never happen unless you are attempting to complete something that isn’t worth working on. The servers are flooding with people. Some content in MMO’s is simply not meant to be solo’d. I would recommend finding a good RPG if you can not cope with this.

Actually this also happens for the Octovine Event as well. And I know it’s not my setup. It is random as it doesn’t happen every single time, more like about half the time. Error reports sent every time. It’s very frustrating. Maybe a refund should be in order for those that cannot enjoy the product

That is a major bummer and I agree this is something that needs to be addressed, but I don’t understand how it isn’t your setup when it’s not happening to everyone. I haven’t experienced this either and I have done the AB meta well over 30 times, both on mac beta and bootcamp. Does your system run at a decent temp? Have you tried uninstalling/repairing?

I wish they had cookie recipes, but yes… This was the tool that eventually made me understand HoT fully… a week or so in. I took a break from this game a year ago and decided to buy HoT about 2-3 weeks ago now.

I understand that it may be annoying if you are exploring and the map resets but this is simply because every map aligns up with each other. It makes sense to me. What I can tell you is once you get exploration done this will be so little of an issue to you that you will look back on this post and laugh. I would advise doing the Meta three times. One in each lane and take all the poi’s you can. Once you clear the meta there are three HP’s you need to get which two of them have giant red arrows on the map pointing to them. Another requires increased glider endurance at least and is the one right by where you fight Mordy. Some poi’s require poison lore too btw but are easily gotten while participating in the Meta. This may take you a few times but trust me, you will get everything. I believe in you!!!

To get in the meta, just look at those timers and arrive in DS 5-10 minutes early. If theres a squad join up on it and wait. Most of the time when the map resets you’ll be ported in with the majority of the squad, or a well populated map. If not, quickly look at the LFG panel and search for a taxi, you have a few minutes to find one. I’ve had to do this once out of about 30 times. I’ve never missed a DS meta I showed up to on time.

Spirit Vale AoE Effects not displaying

Well all my specs are solid for this, but obviously there’s no dedicated GPU.

I’m running this game on:
OS X El Capitan
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)
Processor 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris 1536 MB
Social Security Number… Just kidding

I guess the question I would have for any Mac Beta users or anyone who has had a friend go through this, will running on bootcamp solve this? Is there anything I can do specifically on the mac beta? Does anyone runt his on the Mac Beta and not experience these problems?

I mean I’m not running this game on high graphics obviously, but it even states in the minimum system requirements that even Late-2011 macbook pro’s should work for this granted this somehow includes a dedicated graphics card? Is it perhaps the graphics card that is the issue? Maybe I just need to go test it out on bootcamp before I ask all these questions but I would greatly appreciate any personal experience stories regarding this.

On VG the occasional green circle would not be visible.

On Gors I was not able to see eggs and occasionally the big AoE orange circle where you have to hop into the updraft would not display.

On Sab the arrow indicating the fire wall is not displaying properly. It’s extremely faded and lasts pretty much a fraction of a fraction of a second, IF it shows up. That’s the major killer for me…

Anyone else experiencing this? I’ve been told it’s a Mac beta issue. Anyone raiding on the Mac beta?

WASD for movement
QE for strafing (this is important idk why people unbind these)
1-5 for weapon
Default for weapon swap
Shift 1-3 for utilities (control on Windows)
Shift e/q for heal/elite (control on Windows)
Shift + 4 for raid mechanic
Mouse button 3 for pet skill
Mouse button 4/5 for heel/attack pet skills
Shift + R for astral form
Shift + F for pet swap

With Windows you are able to lay your palm on the control key. If you don’t like that then just roll with shift since your pinky is often free. The ranger specific utilities apply to other classes as well. This game doesn’t require a lot of key binds so I would recommend keeping keyboard turning (a and d) as default since those are nice in casual situations. You really don’t need to go that hardcore.

You can get one very easily just by taking a level 10 character through the first tiny bit of Eye of the North. You’ll just do the mission where you meet Ogden and Vekk, run to the Eye of the North with your heroes/henchmen, meet Gwen, and then get a tapestry for basically doing just that.

+1

I ended up running all my characters to EotN for the free monument tapestry. You talk to the Norn outside the first city you arrive at after the underground part. Then run to EotN, go to the HoM, then talk to Gwen and view the prophecy through the scryer thing. Sorry for my usage of names… It’s been awhile xD.

First, you probably spent about 90 minutes and missed out on around 200k XP and a couple golds worth of rewards. It’s not the end of the world. Second, that sucks but it is probably an issue with your personal client. You should post this in the bug report forums with your computer specs/game specs/error report.

I mean I run this game off both Mac and Bootcamp and I’ve never had this happen to me once. You’ll get no help here, if it consistently happens I would open a ticket or try bug report forums/the Internet for advice.

Run it again, see if this is a consistent thing or a one time deal. My two cents.

What helped me understand the four new maps instantly was staring at a HoT meta timer. Google Dulfy’s HoT timer. The maps are literally alive and changing based off the meta events occurring on each new zone.

Other then that simply explore. I went for all the waypoints first. You can run allll the way to Dragonstand. Nothing is stopping you. I bought HoT around 2 weeks ago so I can sympathize a bit.
