same for me.
but hardcore farmers would disagree as it wouldnt be “totally balanced as some other harcores would farm them more than them depending on radomness”.
imo, make it random.
much cooler “world events” than a chest on timer.
im a hero, not a farmer!
what do you mean?
we know precisely when the events start.
theres no random….people use “event timers” found on the internet and teleport to where the next event will start.
The “window” period gives it a element of randominess. (It’s 1.15 window for jormag and 30 minutes for shatterer and teq, obviously shatterer is the more specific one since it has a short pre event but that’s also a lower level event). To implement a completely random timer would make it unfair for certain servers on certain days since one day you could only have 1 spawn while another server may have had 10 spawns.
dont talk about unfair here, its not much worst than rng
and over time, average will win.
the idea is “stopping the people from doing events in chain”.
as it is the whole server farmers + guests are going at the same
exact spot at the same exact time, to play in facerollable “free loot giving” event.to me, thats total failed design.
It’s not win because not everyone is farming events as an “average” thing. Some people may have time to play the game for one particular day but only to be hit with a bad ’rng" of event. Besides, another rng for events would just trigger another huge public outcry on it. So here we have many people complaining about rng and suddenly there are more suggestions of more rng. Why not make the chest account bound as I suggest? I think this is a perfect solution. Why bother touching other things that work when obviously this is a people are so concentrated on farming dragons now event.
I don’t see how this is free loot either. You spend time waiting for an event, playing for an event, and you get rewarded “once” on that character with a minimum of a rare as oppose to previously where you have to hunt it 3-5 times to get a rare.
So now we have people who complained how bad the loot is and now we have people saying it’s too easy? You just can’t please EITHER side can you. There is no middle line, it’s either too hard or too easy for people, not JUST the right amount (because this DOES NOT EXIST) If you wanna say its faceroll easy, everything in this game is faceroll easy, fotm is a joke, cof is a joke, arah is a joke, nothing is really that challenging (for me) anyways, but you dont’ see me complaining about it because this is a matter of personal skill and opinion. Other people do not share the same thought as me or are at the same skill level as me.
Final note, if these world events were so easy, why do people die in the masses a lot during these events, think about it. (even before the lag, so don’t argue with lag please)
i have no clue how they can die :/ i would have to make an effort to die.
your solution is good too.
the events would only be clogged at prime time.
i just think randomized would make it spicier; people would have to communicate more and it would remove the camping, maybe, which is boring.
and even if somebody doesnt see jorma one day, he can see another one, he ll eventually see them all if he wants to.
i just think making these bosses as “obvious farm spots” isnt that good for the game.
its boring, server demanding, and rewarding; ugh.

heres your endgame;
it needs to be much more random. +/- 2 hours maybe.
people use “event timers” found on the internet and teleport to where the next event will start.
(edited by Avatar.1923)
imo, pvp and wvw are necessary endgame for hardcores.
after 500h he will have reached the pve plateau.
depends how much he plays.
aside for a “legendary” items, farming isnt that rewarded in this game (yet most people do it anyway).
^
the “timed respawn” are the problem imo.
yup the game is awesome!
but people who play 1000h expect a designed PvE “endgame” that have no end.
and there is a lot of those people. and they are very vocal.
for random jack the rpg lover, the game is just mindblowingly awesome.
smart solutions;
1-make the world event respawn on random timers, making them far less predictable (no more campers/farmers)
2-make guesting only available if you are invited by someone from the server (makes playing with friends possible, which is the original intent of guesting, but discourage some abusive world switchers).
“thinking”…
is a big part of the work.
^
people who set themself as a goal to “farm non-stop” for a legendary are not people who love the game, nor people who will stick with the game in the long run.
people who do a little bit of wvw, little bit of pvp, some alts in pve; are the players who enjoy the game the most.
guesting isnt the problem;
overly rewarding facerollable open world events on timers are.
its time to start thinking guys….
put the world event respaw on random timers.
+/- 30 mins.
voila, no more campers, no more people who check timers.
im that smart.
op, make friend with other people that are less good in combat, group up, and do orr.
but leaves us our challenge :/
and the game is really combat oriented, almost 100%.
we have to be realistic here. theres no sandbox elements at all, its just exploring and combat&loot.
^
yup.
for a random build, game can be much harder!
imagine a guard with spirit weapon
^
lol
kind of true.
dont you think that having them on randomized timer would create more “oh kitten, hes here now!” type of sudden gameplay/grouping and make things a bit spicier ?
they just feel bad right now, major reason they are getting fought, its for the chest.
so; make the rewards very good,
but make them spawn more randomly.
thats a tough call to make.
gimping oneself is also not everybody’s cup of tea.
its a question of finding exactly the right balance.
btw, i think its not so bad as it is (after improvements).
world events are too easy, imho.
but a lot of content is fair.
enjoy the pve “farming” endgame.
thats the problem.
wow had hardcore challenge with epic loot.
gw2 have facerollable farmable events and boss or scrap to salvage.endgame will work if the gameplay is worth it. now, in pve, your hero is a farmer.
see it how you want, not every player is ok with that.
it does get boring. In GW2 it’s the PLAYERS that are epic.
:/
mmmk
…
op, do easier regions.
a lot of player need a bit of challenging open world not to fall asleep on their keyboard.
rewards are sexier with a bit of challenge.
to be able to guest, you sould be invited by someone on the server.
this will allow friends to invite friends, and discourage players who change world simply to abuse or because they are bored or simply being kittens.
the best solution i found is to randomize the respawn timers.
so players wont “check the timers and camp the event”.
i think that if the boss spawns on random respawn (+/- 30min) its gonna create a better mood for the fight/ event, discourage guesting, an discourage lazy farmers.
keep the rare in the chest
thank you.
^
make boss event start on randomized timers.
the most rewarding farming done without any danger/challenge is not good for the game. not smart.
are fun the mission ?
enjoy the pve “farming” endgame.
thats the problem.

make the world boss spawn on random timers.
anyway, people willing to endure crappy faceroll gameplay and lag tells a LOT about how the playerbase is simply there for the loot, and not the game, shame on the players, shame on the design.
Why should anyone have sentimental value for rare (yellow) equipment? All a rare amounts to is an ecto lottery ticket..
and you need ecto to “infuse” your gear.
and for legendaries.
which are both endgame gear stuff for now.
anyway, im disapointed with the gear grind in the game.
i know i dont need to participate, but just seeing most people in the hamster wheel, farming rares and scrap to salvage on world bosses using timers (make them spawn on random timers!!) makes me really, really sad about the deepness of the game.
these bosses should be on a more randomized timer.
to discourage camp farming.
faster more efficient on high pop
vertical progression isnt the culprit for me.
camping/farming is.
i welcomed laurels, guild merits and ascended stuff in general because they cant be farmed.
infusions on the other hand :/
I’m not saying one group or the other is wrong; I think they’re both right to like what they like and want the developers to give them what they like, it’s just that a LOT of people would have given no notice at all to GW2 if they’d been told the truth about it.
Yes, I am one of them. I really, truly believed that this game was better than a gear grind…had I known all this then, I’d never have purchased it.
i would have been ok with a gear grind…
but a “farming” game ? that makes me sad.
so unepic.
the same toon as you in evil version.
crafting and all white/blue/green item loots are totally unecessary.
basically, bag fillers so you think you have a phat lewt.
and farming… omg…
and people complaining that farming doesnt pay enough… omg…
why are you farming? for a sword with a fire effect that youre gonna use to farm and complain your way to the next item?
i feel i have one feet out of the door :/
i dont care about the reward.
are the missions “fun” ? somewhat challenging ?
worth playing for somebody who doesnt care that much for numerical rewards ?
the model is old school and, honestly, barely revolutionary; but it sure does make money
^
dont tell me you like everything about halloween and wintersday if you dont like platforming!
(btw platforming rocks!!!)
If you dont like the way its going on bosses dont go do them simple as that and the folks who like it go do it .
I am kinda enjoying finally getting some good loot myself.
true and sad.
keep zergin..
it could be skill related.
lets say hit lvl 100 fractal ?
it could be rng, like wow.
it could be a lot of things aside from farming…
btw, what event timer are you guys using?
guildwarstemple.com?
relax guys.
we can definitely agree that the game cannot revolve around people looking at the spawn timer for world events, and then server zerglag the boss, right?
so something is gonna change.
aside from all the rant, anybody tried those?
is it dungeon level of fun, or jormag level of yawn&loot ?
^
and make the events fun to play.
grenth is cool most of the time.
but facerolling jorlag ? ugh….
anyway, you get my point.
^
i dont care for the speed of progression, but about the “fun” of progression.
and right now, to progress is to get gold/ectos to infuse my backpack etc, and its BORING, farming these events, facerolling to a chest.
Just wanted you guys to know that these are also available as guild mission rewards as well. You can get them as random rewards from completing missions or from the commendation vendor.
That’s good news. Although it really makes me wonder how you guys came up with this price as a valid equivalent to a guild mission. I seriously doubt you expect 6 guild missions to be as difficult as acquiring 40 laurels and 50 ecto.
It’s partially related to the time it takes. Personal rewards for guild missions can only be claimed once per week per mission category. Therefore if your guild only has guild bounties unlocked, it will take you 6 weeks to claim one of these accessories from the commendation vendor (assuming you don’t spend your commendations on anything else).
When the developer is ok with each piece of BiS gear taking 4-6 weeks to acquire…then I’m going to have to say no.
So much fun to be had in this game…all overshadowed by gear that has to be farmed religiously to obtain. In 2012, a brand new person could take 1-2 weeks to catch up to someone at launch. Now, a new person is shafted.
if the guild missions are fun, i have no problem.
i played mario kart a lot…
so far there isnt a general vibe/critic on the internet yet.
lets wait and see!
@KOLZ
probably not, but as long as there is farmable open world content, we risk the same boring gameplay and performance issue that turns gw2 into a pale shadow of itself.
@pope
very well said, maybe farmers will even be able to understand it !
cautious?
geez…
put at least half a page of text if you dont feel like putting encounters.everytime i reached a refugee i was like; hmm hello. heres some token. cya *lights fire.
this aint a story!
Cool story bro.
I am enjoying it so far, though I would have liked seeing a horde of survivors running away from a horde of attacking foes while everyone screams of anger, pain, fear and being lit on fire.
moral of the story; dont do what you re engine/game cant, itll look cheesy.
its a bit too late already.
legendaries shouldnt have been implemented as they were.
they are a burden the game need to carry right now.
the “endgame goal” is farmable… quite sad.
urgent redirection of the mass farming movement of risen players out of the world events.
cautious?
