guild mission; cant wait to try!!

ac; did path 1, and yeah, much better, especially troll and spider.

living story; bad… cheap encounters designs. item/pixel search is just wrong design and done by most player using google. nothing epic about it so far. i would have been happy with 1 or 2 cool encounters, but i understand how it can be tuff because of the open world zerg problem. still, not excusable.

farming content should require solid gameplay.

but as it was before, its cheap encounters.

and world boss, pretty, but, you can still dance and auto attack your way to the chest.

“nothing is required in this game”.

that doesnt cut it, laurels ARE “required” and right now you can only get them with dailes, killing raccoons and fish and let the npcs die cruely just to rez them.

i also am a bit disapointed with reward oriented content instead of gameplay oriented content (that can be rewarding too).

but i havent tried guild missions yet.

the fractals were a reward grind, but it was cool enough for me to put 30+hours in it!
aside the fact that the fractal lore was… non existent. gameplay wise they are fun.

because thats where they “send” their endgame players.

facerolling a few invaders (cheap encounter designs btw), farming them for the achievement and picking up 2 object on the ground.

you do it, because its the “next thing to do”. but in your heart you go like “ugh, this is kitten boring”.
and too many of these and you eventually move out.

Meh. My reward after a long day is playing the game. The reward for completing the daily is just “extra.” I don’t get the mindset of people who insist on turning a past time into a job or a grind and calling it progression. You gotta wonder if they’re capable at all of turning down the usual mmo carrots (aren’t they tired of them yet?) and enjoying playing for the sake of playing? GW2 is a beautiful vibrant world. It’s a shame that people insist on fussing over playing dress up with their virtual dolls and stressing over a bunch of 1s and 0s.

thats what you call “endgame”.
beautiful/vibrant world is the exploring/leveling up, bu eventually, youll start “repeating content”. and that where no mmo but WoW got it right (at first): just give them impossibly hard content at endgame.

thing is.. im happy with the new content and what the game does.
my biggest gripe is probably the encounter designs…
those “invaders”, arent they lame ??
thry could arrive on a ship, thats also a mini jumping puzzle or special encounter terrain.
i mean, a pick up truck with a few mobs you can destroy with a “spin it to win it” greatsword move?
cheap…

I have played MMO’s as much as the next guy, and my experience is, once people are reduced to logging on to just do dailies, they already have “one foot out the door” and when the NEXT game comes along they will be done with GW2

People wouldn’t be reduced to daily tasks if progressive, meaningful content was released each month instead. New fractals, new dungeons, new sPvP maps (they got this one right), and WvW upgrades.

Wasting resources on revamping old content (AC), temporary holiday events (Halloween, Wintersday), and one-time events (Karka) isn’t helping GW2’s longevity much. The Living Story has been a bust so far, consisting simply of kill X things and collect X things.

lets see how guild missions play out.
revamping dungeons is always good, better than put out new brokable content.
living story; major fail so far, MAJOR. i “grind it with a walkthru” but its not fun.

unfortunately for anet, they didnt understad the “endgame/farmers/mmo mentality” very well at first.

Your innocence makes me smile. I think a lot of us may have become a bit jaded but that statement just won’t fly.

please, i meant; understanding a concept as in being able to give a solution.
in gw2; there is no solution to farming aside from DR.
if you think that is a good solution….
i dont think so.

actually the game is healthier now than it was a launch.

the “problem” is that the hardcores who played the first 6 months broke the game on many aspects.

unfortunately for anet, they didnt understad the “endgame/farmers/mmo mentality” very well at first.
i think they’ve learned a lot.
for sure, we might lose some hardcores because they are kitten because of dr or nerf or this or that.
imo; “farming” mentality need to be changed in mmos.
the next big game will not make it easy on farmers.
the next big game will have more randomized content/world boss (like dragons in skyrim everyone??)
the next big game wont have levels.
the next big game will have an infinite quest generator.

and maybe other things too !

what you doing when you don’t farm?

I made few tries and found: I hate most of dungeons + they got nerfed too.
I can’t play WvW as I dc when many people are next to me (and if I’m alone I have nothing to do).
Exploration is done, even if it was slow, grind, not fun experience to me.
Make alts? Done few, very boring.

So what else to do if not farm?

are you saying everything in this game is boring aside from “farming”?
or are you saying you love farming in gw2 so you play it for many hours per week?

i didnt know such player as you existed.
now i’m all confused.

There are two types of people responding to this post…farmers and not farmers.

Farmers are kitten because they can’t mindless run between two points and make bank. That’s how they want to play the game.

People who don’t get farmers don’t like what farming does to the rest of the game. I’m with those people. Farming isn’t something that’s your “right”. It’s not something you get to do. DR was added to stop people from messing up other people’s games. It has to do with inflation, it has to do with the marketplace price of certain items. It’s not just about your phat lootz.

Anet did what Anet has always done. Made it harder to farm, because farming is YOUR game, but it’s not THE game.

I hope this drives farmers away from the run. Of course, they’ll only turn up somewhere else, until that’s nerfed too.

Why can’t people just play the game?

totally agreed with you; dont catter to the farmers. its really ruining the gameplay.
worst comes to worst, jampack them all in the same mindless facerollable farm spot than you can put on the other side of tyria (or in a dungeon like wow did).
open world “mob farming” need to be kept to a minimum, if not totally discouraged.

or make these “farmable events” real tough, like grenth.

People have changed since the update

i dont know if people have changed, but the game have changed.

im on jade quarry, and right now some maps are super crowded because of “living story” or “world boss”.
its a joke, people camping, waiting for invaders, then facerolling them in 30 seconds to grind their achievemet points….

the open world multiplayer gameplay is simply badly designed for endgame toons.
or if that really what they want… im personnaly disapointed by the CAMP/ZERG feel to the persistant world.

my opinions; for endgame toons, do stuff like guild missions and special content, but dont make the world event rewarding for high level toons; because they become farming spot and the experience/gameplay is totally ruined.

As a member of a family “guild” of 5 people, I fully expected to be unable to play the guild-specific content, specifically because of the “Guild = Many People” concept that is built into the game. Guilds with lots of people get more done faster for less work per person, small Guilds take longer, and take more individual investment.

It doesn’t mean that I’m not dissapointed, I think there should be content for smaller guilds proportional to the larger guild offerings, without the smaller guilds having to shell out ‘extra’ gold in order to have the same rank as a larger guild, but I wasn’t expecting to be able to play like the big kids.

dude! your guild is 5 people! its a party size! the WHOLE GAME can be 5 man….

As i said in another thread,

A.Nets strategy -

Target the 5% of hardcore players and make them happy while royally screw the 95% of the casual player base

its actually the opposite.
screw the hardcore and grind addicts by giving them infinite grind.
while 95% are having fun doing what they feel like.

Yeah, since I’m only doing around 1 or 2 dailies a week now, once there are full ascended sets of armor and weapons to go with the jewelry, there will be no catching up. lol

Also, I see a price pattern here.

30 laurels for an amulet
35 laurels for a ring
40 laurels + 50 ectos for an earring

Perhaps it will continue:
45 laurels + 100 ectos for a helm
50 laurels + 150 ectos for shoulders
55 laurels + 200 ectos for chest
60 laurels + 250 ectos for gloves
65 laurels + 300 ectos for legs
70 laurels + 350 ectos for boots
75 laurels + 400 ectos for (weapon of choice here)

Yeah, this’ll keep some folks plenty busy…

just do what you enjoy
you like exploring and stories? do alts.

or try shooting for some achievement points!

i answered his question!!!

ill make it simple for simpler brains;

i dont mind vertical progression if its minimal and have huge time sink requirement.

Problem with vertical progression is that it can be minimal only in the beginning. Since by it’s very nature it never stops, eventually the difference stops being small (mind you, what we have already is definitely not minimal). Of course, by then, since it is so horribly time-gated, you are hopelessly behind and will never catch up.

Unfortunately, that means that even if you do not care for that eq, you need to get it, if you plan to continue playing for a longer time (because waiting for the problem to really affect you is like waiting to press the brakes until you are already hitting the concrete wall).

they will probably be easier to get as time goes on.. classic vertical progression “cure” for new players.

salvage the rare gear you pick up along the way.

Salvage it with what?

any rare lvl 70+ you should salvage with a mystic salvage kit (wiki to see how to make the kit)
you have a random chance at 0 to 3 ectos.
or 0 to 5 for exotics i think.

anyway, overall i find i get in average about 1 ecto per rare (sometimes 0 sometimes 3..).

whatever float your boat would be;

gain x amount of xp = daily done.

if anet doesnt do that its because they kind of want to give some icentive to do this or that.
but all in all… you can still dungeon, daily, pvp, wvw… i mean. game is still wide.

and hopefully, the daily direction will eventually create some fun stuff (i think it can)

so why do you care that much for the ascended gear?
it doesnt stop you from doing any of the content.

As I stated, I was planning to get it so I’d have something to work toward. Because I like having something to work toward in a game. However, I do not want to buy ectos on the TP and I don’t want to buy BLSK from the Gems Store. Therefore, I have decided not to get ascended gear.

Nobody said anything about “caring for it.”

salvage the rare gear you pick up along the way.
youll get ectos.
by the time you have 40 laurels, youll probably have 50ectos (or very close to it).

actually, what type of content do you enjoy doing the most?

Why introduce it in the first place if ascended items serve no purpose as per your stance?

i answered that in one of my many earlier post to Raine;

because a large portion of the paying customers need the gear/stats vertical progression to keep playing.
my opinion is that anet is doing a decent job at incorporating it.
and we could go further and discuss about how to make it as best as a verical progression can be to keep the majority of players happy.

you guys “only” do wvwvw?

Yes.

I have done:

1. Personal story quests.
2. One story mode dungeon once since beta.
3. One brief stint of crafting (for gear for WvW — bad idea, should have just found a crafter).
4. Miscellaneous Snow Troll grinding back in the day (for gear for WvW).
5. Some random sPvP for kittens and giggles.
6. Rest of my time in WvW. E.g. 95% of my game time.

PvE was a useless waste of time / content / energy / pixels / electrons. The story quest was entertaining because of voiceovers and overall story (until Trahearne, but I still finished it because I started it; kitten Trahearne btw).

There’s a joke thread on the WvW boards of “You are a WvWer if”, and the responses was along the lines of “have 200+ hours played, 30% map completion, no fractal tokens, bought gems to upgrade keeps because you run out of gold, etc”.

Yep.

i agree with you.
wvwers “only” type of players dont have the full experience/potential.
rewards in wvw should be slightly higher and there should be a possibility to obtain ascended gear.
march is your month, you think so? i mean, hope so?

anet have to be careful to not put too much in wvw, otherwise more people will flock to it and the lag/queue would be awful!…

im curious to see how they will resolve that, and im curious to know what percentage of the player log in wvw more than 90% of the time.
