in this game you dont “melee” the boss.
unless you can get in and out quickly/unaffected. (aegis, teleport…)
its ok.
but i can expect bosses to have stronger mechanics.
imagine a 3d battleground, with ledges and bridges and staircase, and a boss that can fly (and actually does fly once in a while, shoot some fireballs, then dive on a player).
its a quesition of battleground/ability mix, i think.
it aint easy for groups to coordinate right now, and the game doesnt encourage that.
its an all out zerg fest on most champions.
im ok with it, because the game is more “action” than “tactic”.
but anet can definitely improve was for players to play together.
as this will be the way to make the game last.
as of now, playing together feels like playing with npcs.
nobody have the time to type things to do/plans/call outs.
i dont have a solution, but it definitely should be a point of focus for the creative gameplay designers.
and… what is there to learn?
that, my fellow players, is my only grip with GW2.
it really feels like a single player game.
as the game keep us, by design, unnafected by the other players. mostly.
in the dungeons?
and you feel its nice cooperative fighting? or still feeling like soloing with npcs all around ?
hmm, yeah. nobody have a solution.
but, i am almost convinced that smart team fighting will be necessary to raise GW2 above all other big fantasy mmo.
anything over 30h a week is definitely hardcore.
and 40h+ is a full time job
first, I love the game.
that said, i think fighting alongside other players can often feel “lonely”.
because, you can’t really see what the others are doing, you can’t really jump into their combo field.
really.. you cannot set up “team tactics”.
ok, im a guardian and my greatsword swirl will remove condition
but hey, dont ask me to time it or anything, it happens when im ready to pop my combo.
anyway, i would be happy if the devs can find a way to make team fighting more easy, or more obvious/planned.
as it is now, i feel that it is like playing dragon age but without pause button, and with many different brains.
that makes it chaotic..
unfortunately i dont have a solution.
45h lvl33 20days played.
gosh… more than 5 hours a day 7/7?
am. shocked.please help yourself and explore real life
by the way, more than 20h a week cannot possibly be called regular player.
thats half a work week!
then put girlfriend, housework, kids, friends and what else… 20h of gaming to 1 game is a lot…
^
and what else do you want?
you played like a beast!
in average, i hope people play for less or maximum of 20h per week.
game is out since 1 month.
so thats an average of 80h.
include maybe pvp in there and wvw.. the average player aint “far” in the game yet.
you superplayers are really a minority.
at that point for you guys, you have to enjoy the gameplay.
because the game cannot boost you more, youre already about maxed out!
You blew through 300 hours of content in 3 weeks? And you paid how much for it?
its not 300 hours though, its more like 100 doing it effeciently.
and to the previous poster…. that list is rubbish.
i am doing things “properly” and after 40h i am level 30, with 10% map completion.
and that is without any pvp.
the only way to get to 80 that fast is if you teleport everywhere, skip text, no social, no enjoyement of the world and arts.
but at that point.. youre a d3 player
try to do an other toon maybe ?
as a guardian level 28, this was faceroll before the patch. i did it yesterday.
not even endangered.
barely taking dmg.
jump in the fray with my greatsword, call the
flames, whirlspin of death, and thats it.
all k.o.
all in all, i am very surprised by this patch.
agreed 100%
but here its an addict zone.
they crave for more.
in a way, they will push anet to better themselves.
i mean, players like that that can dish out 100h a week are valuable tools.
^
they are “wower”.
they like repetition.
are the dungeon fun to start with ?
(put aside the “reward” part for a second).
and really, every game gets trashed by the no-lifers.
ALL the games.
these people playing more than 30-40h a week need to get checked.
if you dont like the gameplay of pvp,wvw or the dungeon, then just walk the plank.
^
lol
do what you want.
ill do the 100% completion and the dungeons.
wvwvw queues ARE a problem.
and anet is too quiet about it. over 2h?kitten thats my gaming session time!
but aside from that and a few nicks here and there; great game!
love it.
^
the cap is hit so fast?
you mean about 80h total at a regular pace ?
game as been out for 3 weeks.
so thats about 25+hours per week.
well, yeah.
the problem isnt the game, its you maybe?
what game did you play for like over 500h ??? and why?
man, i have 40h in 14days. im level 30.
and i think i abuse!
seriously i am shocked by the amount of no lifers..
i expect wvwvw to get some love and being more organized maybe. eventually.
and it could be big.
dungeons will be your “raids”.
but let arenanet balance difficulties/rewards first.
gotta be careful with the amount of players that are already at 300+hours and all the cheaters.
once it is stable, they will open it up!
otherwise, there are other games out there, and you guys are like too much for me anyway.
in EVERY games with an economy, a small group of no-lifers and pro farmers and what else will be ahead.
you cant stop them from playing too much.
and you have to come to the conclusion that youll never be the best
at least you have a life, and different activities!
game is great!
only some boss/champion events are a bit messy because too many players gang bang it.
everything else is nice!
hey guys! tell us how it plays and if i should switch to mac from my current bootcamp or should wait a bit.
i can handle a few bugs here and there, but i dont want to screwy
game experience (im only lvl 30).
-exploration 100% map
-mastering combat (it is very difficult to be good, and nail all those cooldowns, being able to react to real time action), to go in pvp and wvw.
i try to try different configuration and weapons, see how they play out.
-coop dungeon.
seriously.. i have at least 300-400h hours before starting to lose interest, and by then, anet will have added stuff…
seriously.. i have at least 300-400h hours before starting to lose interest, and by then, anet will have added stuff…“where the game is headed”?
hmm id like the game to offer titles and or something to godly players, so that they get “reknowned” within their server. this way you know who the server greates heroes are. some kind of fame.
and, id like to see duels being possible in pve. to cooldown the testosterone AND incite social interaction
talking about that, would need to find a mechanic to help social interaction too..
maybe after killing a boss, time stop for some players within a radius, for 1-2min and they can say stuff.
dunno..
its more of a suggestion thread.
but very fair.
it isnt random bashing like some random people that dont get laid enough do.
agreed on the wvwvw.
2h queue is too long, especially since i game for about 2h at a time.
obviously Anet MUST make guild partying much easier.
you should be able easily to go rock wvw with your guildies.
and some guild vs guild could be cool too.
organized wvw events?
meet the other best guildies on the field and pimp out the best spvp team?
start a gatherer / crafter business and own the trading post?
lol, funny OP
gw2 is huge, give it some time to stabilize.
anyway, did UO have an endgame?
honestly, i feel GW2 endgame is doing groups and organized Dungeons and PvP.
if you want to stay solo, youll be a failed hero
let the game “stabilize” before dishing out some
endgame stuff.
make sure the “freak players” dont burn everything and ruin it for the 90%+ regular/sane gamers.
i think most if not ALL people complaining about lack of “endgame” are the no-lifers who play too much.
and no game right now can deal with them.
i say they can quit.
come back later, the door will always be open.
i have pity for them.
they really are the ones hurting themselves more.
and then saying the problem is the game? after like 300h in 3 weeks.
anyway.
GW2 is amazing, huge, and perfectly fine for a gamer who will spend 15h a week in the game. (thats normal, right?)
but dont get me wrong;
the game is Wonderful.
and its hard to “patch” stoopid players that have nothing better to do than bot or abuse a game for a few dollars.
it is a great game.
but gaming is plagued by weirdos, bots, pro gold farmers and what else…
its breaks the experience to arrive a an event just to see 10 toons standing there and shooting endlessly in all directions waiting for the even to start.
humans are lame.
and i mean, real life humans!
bots can ruin events.
sometimes a game stop being a game, when money
is involved.
ridiculous :/
i dont care for gold seller, i just block them. but bots, ruining events, this is a major problem.
i like the game, its like skyrim on steroid with a jrpg feel.
there is other games out there…
a game by itself cant replace your life.
one thing
interesting would be DUELING in pve (with both players consent).
to cooldown these kids testosterone.
ok.
ENOUGH, with that “endgame” talk.
do PvP, or start a guild, organize dungeons or arrange WvW nights, become a legendary crafter, start a guild to rule the AH.
honestly, there is no “endgame” to LIFE itself… !!
start doing something.
the
game
does have the possibilities
(edited by Moderator)
i would eventually like the game to allow no-lifers to take slight control OVER the game.
such as being lords of some fort (being able to set some rules).
or being master of some forge (being able to craft some unique items).
or protector of some part of the land (being able to set some rules and npc behaviours)
in a way that they get reknown in their server for some particular service maybe.
attracting followers to heir cause, much like guilds but in a more world changing way.
i would have to think about how to intgegrate that, but maybe some kind of players voting could be interesting.
and if these god players can give out some kind of quests.
something like the corporations in eve, its an interesting concept.
giving forts or something to god players. with rules the can set.
but obviously your only a god if you have followers
its gonna be hard, since its an action game, to have “efficiency stats” and stuff like that.
its difficult to know “whos the king of kings”.
a game like “eve” made it possible because the world is ruled by the players, mostly.
if anet can find a way to make some players “known” in their respective servers for whatever exploit.
and maybe give these players the ability to give out quests to others, or having some “server unique” recipes for crafting (only them can craft it), or i dont know, but a way to make “god players” getting known in the world.
and its just a game.
it wont replace your real endlife.
but really, on a more positive point.
this game is quite difficult to master.
the combats are viceral and there is a lot of powers and combos to do.
about dungeons; witout teamspeak it could be difficult, as everybody is going powpow and hitting all their cooldowns once ready.
but it would be far more efficient to use strategy, thing is… it aint easy because its tuff to communicate and it is an action style gameplay.
itll take tons of hours into the game for people to come up with strategies and post them on youtube to educate people .
its not even been out for 1 month.
i think there is a ton of strategy and combination and cross class effects and battlefield strategies.
but as it is now, at least for me, game is too quick, i can only really just focus on my toon.
dont try to make me do a combo finisher in your field or reflect projectiles going at you.
maybe ill get better after tons of hours.
as a guardian, i still have a hard time to put my aegis up on time.
gosh, so many buttons on that keyboard.
i seriously doubt people that say the combats are shallow that they have mastered it.
but then again, how much can you master them? its a big and fast firework fest most of the time, not easy!
still fun!
