i grind endlessly
i hope its gonna be worth the virtual item youll get after 500h of grinding…
good luck, keep grinding! you can do it!
/cheer
the wvw jp is absolutely amazing.
im kind of hoping for more “pve/pvp” mix content like that.
to answer the thread;
jumping puzzle is my “fun time”.
and levelling up character, not feeling forced into endgame and laurels and all that.
just going at your own speed without feeling the pressure of endgame is the most rewarding experience.
the game was designed, by keeping in mind that everything would be on the wiki/internet.
that i think, is smart.
because obviously people will eventually check out the internet or a game this big.
so might as well design it as such.
go check your receipes online! no quest nor npc will teach them to you.
might seem ridiculous, but in fact its smart to avoid spending time writing down receipe when everybody will google them anyway.
indeed.
1 to 80 is kinda lonely.
unless you do story mode dungeons along the way.
but endgame content, for what it is, is mostly social; wait for dungeon group or waiting for temples to open.
guild missions might also bring “social” content to the game.
i like to split my time between social stuff and more single player experience, i m actually happy that you can do both!
^
i tried to tell them, but they dont listen, they keep complaining that it’s unfair!
again;
melee is superior in most cases, but harder.
ranger is easier, but less rewarding. (aoe is debatable.. ranged toon with a lot of aoe are kind of op too!)
OP, i think your opinions doesnt make sense;
gw2 is bland: “but make roads to tell me where to go”
gw2 combat is staying there pressing the same buttons over and over; “but im not good enough to solo events in the game, i get destroyed” (btw, all non group events a so easily soloable if you play good)
i think the problem is that youre a bad gamer.
or very very young, 12-13y old maybe.
the game give you a LOT of opportunities.
but it doesnt take your hand that much (but it still does in some ways).
so, be smart, and start to think.
if it isnt the type of thinking for you, too bad!
you can go play pvp, theres no vistas and no need for roads.
but i just think youll get destroyed and come back crying here.
my guardian is almost all berserk gear.
greatsword and mace/focus.
(actually mace focus is for the blocks, give you that little for the cooldowns to pop up)
and greatsword is simply op…
melee toons have ranged weapon for that 20% (i think its less but anyway).
and running dungeons without melees, is hard.
and in pvp amd wvw ? melee arent suitable also ?
and for pve, melee is often better than range, if you play right.
and i agree, range is probably easier.
but not better.
imo, subject alpha is a boss that you should melee.
well, i feel 200% more comfortable with my guardian with only melee weapons for 95% of the content. and that means; i die less.
dunno what else to tell you.
im into “hardcore dodging”.
trait for it, get some stamina, make it heal you, drink your protein shake, and youll realize melee are clearly not at “disadvantage”.
(edited by Avatar.1923)
i think theres some video of a greatsword warrior soloing lupicus.
google it.
and to all guards and warriors who feel “kitten” by playing range; l2p
(edited by Avatar.1923)
geez, and i thought game was kind of easy.
^
true.
“gear” does matter i guess! whatever they said in their manifesto is bullkitten !
heh
cannot be a sandbox.
its all about anet releasing better/harder content.
grenth is a good step.
i dont care for double sigils.
greatsword is op.
the game doesnt help the newbs with the terrible keybord config at start.
thats the only excuse possible!
do fractals, or jump puzzles, or dungeons, or temples (grenth is a blast at least).
good melee practice; tank vet karkas, or champions 15-20 lvl below.
make sure your keyboard is well configured (no double tap dodge, or 6-7-8-9), dodge on mouse button is best i find, if you have 2 xtra mouse buttons, use dodge and attack 1.
good luck.
or use ranged class
i play guardian.
and i dont use range weapons.
only for the few encounters here and there i might take the staff.
learn to dodge, use your gap closers, aegis, regens, etc…
and you can melee everything.
true, im a very good player, but still
i tank grenth. dodge between his legs hit him where it hurts!
there ya go, fresh out of the oven.
“farming” is killing mmos
the guy above who mentioned “rewarded for your time”… lol at that!!
thats the future, and gw2 is a tiny step in that direction.
farmers and compusilve looters and all this bunch, are killing mmos slowly.
ultima online was right.
lets get back to the root of a virtual world.
its a gear grind.
(albeit a very very good one!)
only UO got it right…
Good lord, same fking thing. Stop giving me your anecdotes, all requires doing some kinda farming/playing PvE or have been acquired thru gold accumulation after a long time.
I have my exotic gear by farming TA exp ad nauseum, now I want another set for another build with different stats. I don’t want to farm again for it. If I play normally (WvW every other day for a few hours), I will get it in 6 months and that’s even a maybe. And that’s silly.
So you don’t want to “farm”, you don’t want to wait to get it by playing normally.
What do you want then? This is the game, these are the ways one gets stuff by either setting it as a goal to get it fast or by normal playing whether it’s in PvE, WvW or PvP.I already know you don’t wanna hear this but if you want what you want and want it now, buy gems and buy your stuff.
It’s very clear that each of us plays their own way but (and sorry for saying this) you sound like a kid in a store whose mom told him he could not have candy now but later after dinner…
The wait to play normally is fine, it shouldn’t have to take 6 months. I’m playing sparsely now because I would only get poorer or I break even (WvW).
I see the awful grind for what it is. This isn’t the first thread about this game having no rewards. If you’re going to drop crap loot for everything, then drop some decent silver so I can eventually get stuff off the AH.
Playing alone should be enough to fund basic needs, like to get a new set of exotic gear (which is I guess the norm) at a decent pace, a month tops. The game needs to drop more gold.
you… cant get a set of exotic in a month of play if you focus on it?
im sad for you.
imo anet is keeping all mindless farmers in cursed shore.
they are happy there, cursed among the cursed risen.
when i go there i cant tell the difference between players and risen.
on a more serious subject;
thats why “tokens and laurels exist” for you to gear up.
and to answer to your point 1.
no they werent wrong in “other” mmos.
but they are wrong in gw2.
it aint a farming game imo.
^
thats what i talked about earlier “fun”
but people dont really care here, its about rewards and getting it now.
what do you prefer to do with your level 80?
if its pve, well then, it have “small” progression.
not having the amulet right away wont slow down you getting dungeon tokens or finishing dailies..
and if you do fotm, the rings are so easy to get. and if you are at lvl like 30… then by all means, youll have the amulet.
so
have fun
if its wvw, well, here is the thing… wvwvw aint fair.
the stronger the toon in pve, the stronger he his in wvw.
but by such a small margin.
and if you want “everybody” to be equal in wvw… then its spvp.
now, just sayin since you asked for it;
you dont need the amulets.
now, ill flush.
Problem is that they don’t need to fight for customers, because there is not other mmo that could cause danger. No monthly fees, why would you try to make the game attractive for someone who already paid his money?
I am seriously sick of this easy content. Not to mention reward will be same kitten like now.
right there, you are stating no other mmo could beat gw2.
right there, you just said its the BEST ON THE MARKET RIGHT NOW.
take your pill, i hope this sickness will pass…
the game tries to make it “difficult” for farmers and grinders to break the economy.
and personally, i’m very happy with that.
the amulet after 30days, thats a reward for your time played, not a grind.
and by all means, really not “necessary”.
lol
true…
well said.
^
doesnt matter the amount of time he plays.
his statement is right.
currently getting “fully equipped” to be on par with highest stat doesnt require farming gold.
^
it actually promote you to tp everywhere on the map to get it done.
which is kitten.dailies should be like an “event chain”, “mini quest”. not some random choirs.
This is what dailies were in GW. A specific boss hunt or mission. A small difference in accessibility is that you could reach lvl 20 in GW in a good day of play and just run (or buy a run) to the areas these things were at if you didn’t have them.
In GW2 the world is huge. And it takes a lot longer to get max level. So an event chain or mini quest would be out since not everyone could do it.
The nature of dailies are that they are just a superfluous thing that rewards you for completing specific activities. These can be completed by anyone, of any level, in nearly any zone.
There are already chains and events in the game, and most of them will complete the majority of your daily. Rikiti, Reactor, Plinx, Centaur Shaman, Shatterer Chain…the list goes on an on. Any escort event or any chain event will do. So just pick one and go do it.
Are gamers in general now so dependent on developer’s holding their hands and leading them along that they get totally lost in this because there isn’t a big icon on the map with flashing lights and an arrow that says “Daily here”?
If dailies are changing the way you play, then you are doing it wrong. They are something that should be completed as you are playing. If you have to aggro and dodge low level moa in a field because you can’t manage to dodge ten times in a dungeon or high level events with your guild while just playing the game…you are doing many things wrong.
then just give out dailies after you get x amount of xp.
simpler, and more natural.
if they put these little objective, its because they should be fun.
not stuff “you do along the way without noticing”, that would be xp.
are the current dailies “fun” ?
thats the question, and really, that probably all that matters.
defend tower gates is nice on a guard.
and, in zergs; try to soak up dmg and die first in zergs so that others can dps, do that by being flashy and disturbing, but hard to kill.
if everybody gets exotics in chest, they wont be worth much.
im always happy to see a dye.
but imho, they are being careful with drops, to keep the cash shop active with some staple items like ressurect/repair stuff, transmute stones etc…
its something we have to live with.
gw2 needs that cash shop.
which, probably makes loots a little more boring.
chores!
sorry, frenchy here.
@raf
exactly my point of view.
best stuff is token based mostly.
i dont understand all those people crying over loot willing to stay 1h around halla.
but hey, to each their own.
^
and another tp for laurel vendor
and maybe another for aquatic slayer
^
zergs are gw2 achilles heel.
^
it actually promote you to tp everywhere on the map to get it done.
which is kitten.
dailies should be like an “event chain”, “mini quest”. not some random choirs.
thats why just giving dailies after x amount of xp gain is “the best solution for anet saying they want us to play the way we want”.
i dont think these dailies are the best solution to bring back people in the open world.
sure didnt do it for me.
i just end up tp at the same places to get it done.
lets see how new dailies and guild quest are going to improve this.
actually this “daily format” as is, stayed there for a month only, probably.
salvaged rares will give you ectos.
anyway, if you have difficulty gearing up in exotic stuff in this game (a 3-4 hours per pieces at max) then you need to buy the hint book
This is not a problem, ppl are making it a problem. LOLOLOLOL
There are NPC’s everywhere to get your dodge on???? Why if someone kills one is it a big deal?? Run to another one like 20 meters away??Sarcasm
I say just make the daily:
Log in for 5 minutes
/sarcasm
This would solve all problems.
make the dailies an ammount of xp gain.
thats the best.
+ special dailies for xtra bonus.
its a “rush” to the dead npcs!
the new kill steal is dead corpse stealing!
i didnt do a survey,
but i think there is 3 types of players who could be interested im gw2 long term;
-fractal runners type of players, hardcore pve.
-wvw tactical mass pvp players.
-pvp players.but right now the focus is on the open world.
its great, but its hard to nail…
and hard to create talks and such.
as it is, its the single player part of the game mostly.
i dont think its great for an “mmo”.
but i could be surprised after seeing the guild
missions. How did you come to that conclusion? I like all three of those play-styles and then some. I’m sure I’m not the only one, too.
I enjoy clearing dungeons, I enjoy teaming up with my guild for large-scale tactical PvP, and I’m guessing the third style is meant for the structured PvP? I also enjoy that.
I am pretty excited about the future of Guild Wars 2.
And yes, I think we’re in for a surprise with guild missions.
thats allright to fit in all 3 categories!
question is; with your level 80, do you still do a lot of open world aside from grinding dailies and going to dragons “for a chance at precursors” when they re up?
case closed.
how “hard” can they make it in open world??
instances are easier to be made challenging.
some higher level fractals i find are quite demanding, doable, but definitely not “faceroll”.
i jus think open world engame is… too uncontrollable.
that would be a “mmo revolution” for me, the day a thempark can make the open world as challenging as you can handle, progressively.
as it is now, open world endgame is for farmers only.

teleporting to a dead npc zone everytime is kind of… so so.
but i still do it.
cant wait for the new choices to dailies!
i dont think gw2 is “loot driven”.
why do you need the loot for ??
ascended and laurels is where its at, and they arent loot based.
dungeons have token too..
loot..
loot is to gear up in exotic gear, mostly.
and i find its no so hard to do…
people who complain, i dont get it.
-commander 100g was designed with the idea that “your guild should help you to pay after you worked your kitten in wvw”.
-legendaries are for obsessive compulsive people.
and everything else is fine.
