Hey I have noticed that newer players across the forum seem to have a set idea of what they want their character to be, but are somewhat unfamiliar with the lore.
As such these players seem to struggle to chose or regret their choice in the opening bio, so I had an idea to help out my future Charr: pair up some professions with the Legions.
Though please note this is not a rule set but a guide line for people who want that particular style or theme (maybe for an RP character) but are not too familiar with the law.
The magic professions will be included here too.
Blood Legion: Warrior, Ranger, Guardian, Elementalist (on the front line giving the Flame Legion a taste of the own medicine), Necromancer (here on popular demand )
Iron Legion: Engineer, Warrior, Guardian, Elementalist (could use there powers to aid in forging)
Ash Legion: Thief, Ranger, Mesmer, Necromancer
If you disagree with any of the match ups leave a comment and a reason and I will edit accordingly.
Thank you for reading and I hope someone finds this useful at some point.

I will give Cornelious Softpaw a 10 on the adorable meter but a 2 on the Charr meter, does not strike fear into the hearts of your foes.
Garm Rageclaw, named as such because well he is angry with big old claws
I had the same feeling at first, but with certain armors you get a very nice contrast between the leafy-ness and the metalness
But then what is Logan Thackery suppose to shout to shout? :P
I kid of course I don’t really have a problem with the skill. It is functional and useful.
I would say they are fairly equal racially, the victories on both sides I believe would be down to the individual. Individual strengths, training, fighting style and personality play major parts in both races cultures.
I think the real question is why do humans swim like Charr? :P
they are fun but the main two issues i see are.
1. they lock you in the spot when you attack
2. 30 second usage is just terrible it should be 5 mins or permanent, they arent overpowered at all and 30 sec is far too short…..Engineers get permanent kits etc which are far more deadly than the norn were forms..
I agree completely
1. The forms are very clunky, which is a shame because the movements in this game are very fluent.
2. I feel like the the Norn forms should replace the timer with a counter. i.e “x” amount of attacks until your form disappears.
Make masculine versions to go with the girly looking Legendary's for us men please

How about you just don’t get that legendary?
Honestly before I deleted my Norn ranger I was going to go for Dreamer, because there is nothing manlier than unicorns and rainbows!
but you hate the model not the class so there is a new twist on an old tale :P
Honestly I don’t mind it, the event is all in good fun and it is funny to watch all this huge norns break down into madness over falling down so much.
“Add a “Gourd” setting to the locator? =)” explain please : < n00b here
A gourd is the vegetable family pumpkins belong to
I have been running an Axe/Warhorn build lately. Honestly loving it, love layering on vulnerability while using it in combination with a couple of wells. I don’t think there is a set build for Axe’s just experiment and see if it is for you. I am still tweaking mine atm or I would have posted it.
Yakkington was a brave soul who survived the Searing and traveled the world with his pet human Nicholas. They went on to have many adventures throughout the GW world
IIRC, each class has starter items that cannot currently be reproduced once they’ve been deleted/transmuted. Necro face paints, the thief hood, the guardian glowy Ankh shoulders, or the Ele’s attunement gems are all examples.
I would love if there was a straightforward option to reproduce those items. If they could be made into something similar to the HoM items (self-contained transmutation stone function), that’d be even better.
Thank you you made it much much clearer than I did. Would love to see what my necro looks like with different pain styles or what my Guardian would look like with a helm.
The “starting” items that you get when you first login to your character have the same model as a lot of other armors in the game. Often the ones you can buy from vendors.
even with mesmers, elementalists and necros?
Axe is a good intermediate weapon that can pile on vulnerability. If used correctly you can get at least 10 vulnerable on an enemy. Which may not sound like much but when you are grouped it really starts to show. Basically it is for people who like to play in groups and target bosses.
Hey I would quite like to see profession starting items available from a vendor.
Even if they had no stats like HoM items. It would be nice to at least have the option to see what my char could have looked like at the beginning of the game.
Love the way this is just trolling Logan :P
My only gripes are bugs and that there is no real synergy for mixed builds (traits and utilites feel set up like forcing you to get the full line and at least 2 more of the same type of utility).
yes yes a thousand times yes
The minions are undead, In this Fantasy realm, raising a corpse so that it still looks like a corpse is incredibly offensive.
So what do necromancers do? They reshape the flesh so that it forms different undead constructs to do different tasks.
They are not demons, the removal of the corpse mechanic was for practical game mechanic reasons and isn’t canon, They are reshaped, Mindless, Corpses.
Pretty much according to guild wars lore the raising of actual undead (skeletons, etc) is forbidden.
I would quite like to see an elite that changes with your attunement “Master of Magic” maybe?

Name:Joe
Main Character: don’t really have one just a bunch of alts, but atm I am playing mainly on my ele Thornir Snorrason
Server: Seafarer’s Rest
Interests: Meh a bit of everything, mainly pveing atm, helping out in low level areas. And crafting
Active: Whenever I can really. I am pretty busy in RL so yeah I tend to play during downtime.
Additional comments: Bit of a lore hound. I am a UK player (thus the EU server). Made my own guild, (linked to a gaming group I made a while back) just getting it up off the ground. I am also very interested in gaming as a whole and well making it a better place for everyone, which is why I made the group the guild and posted here :P
Hope to hear from you guys soon, also mindless, obligatory self plugging go! (link to guild and gaming group)

Nope my Norn is pretty small
My Norn is an Ele. And I am loving it
So basically you don’t want GW2?
Necro minions, are pretty much shells they deliver a basic function and are made from bits and pieces. This is fine in GW terms, but when a necromancer brings back the souls of the dead and attach it to a skeleton binding it to its will that is wrong. Grenth is not happy with the second one.
Pretty sure they marry their equals. Then they build their honor with their spouse
It is the Anglicized version of the word. So you literally say it Joton. The “Yoton” pronunciation comes with the “ö” character so would be spelt Jöton.
It is not a Norn word or a Tyrian or fantasy word but an English one.
As a rule of thumb if a J is followed by a ö character then say Yo, but if it is followed by an o character then pronounce it as you usually would.
They seem to have a whole lot of skills that are blocked from underwater that have no reason being so. Most notably signets, why the balls are there signets that don’t work underwater with active effects that affect your target? Unless a skill targets an area(and even then you could make them auto cast a sphere on your target or yourself depending on the skill) there’s no reason to disable it.
I agree completely. A-net did put a lot of emphasis on UW combat but a lot of classes get skills locked out, while others receive virtually no penalty. Seems a little imbalanced.
I am a little, would not have minded a consecration elite skill, that deals damage and provides a buff.
Or maybe an elite spirit weapon, no clue what it would do though.

Oh, gods, yes. As a necromancer, it’s eye-gougingly frustrating that so many abilities are locked underwater.
On a side note, I DO like how Mantra of Agony has no verbal component underwater. I don’t use mantras, otherwise, specifically because I can’t stand listening to my character repeat himself like a broken record.
It is not just a necro problem but I feel the seem to be hit the hardest. I mean the Ele gets an under water elite so why not other classes. We should not be limted to one elite underwater.
I vote Tengu I am curious to see what is behind the wall
I don’t mind it but it seems a little bit out of place with the sylvari. Would have liked something a little different but hey I can live with it.
You could have it so you can’t change during fight, just like with skills.
Before Guild Wars 2 came out the nice people of a-net really bigged up the underwater combat.
The combat itself is really fun, but I feel that the amount of skills that get blocked out by going underwater gets a little bit silly. I mean look at the necro, they get all of their well moves blocked, and only one close range elite for UW combat. This is only one example but it is something that has been bothering me across all classes I have played (with the exception of my Warrior, he seems fine underwater).
It would just be nice to have equivalent skills for UW combat instead of just locking them out, especially with the Elite skills. How hard would it be if Flesh Golem was replaced with an animated Giant Armour Fish, still with a charge ability, nothing really has changed just the skin. This is just one example though off the top of my head.
I often find myself avoiding combat underwater because of how I am often not speced for my elite skill (or even some others) UW.
What do you guys think, more UW equivalent skills good or bad?
So other classes get auto attack but not necro? (lich form)

Not just Lich Form, any form change disables auto attack, including engineer kits, and guardian tomes.
Ah reincarnation, very necro of you
No mounts please, there is no real need for them other than “look what I got :P”
The game is not designed for mounts, it is designed for walking and waypointing. Don’t wanna walk? Then waypoint. Don’t wanna waypoint? Then walk.
I actually really like this ear thing, it makes them seem a little more real
Would be nice as a purchasable skin on the trading post.
Not for everyone, but just as a little bit of flavor. So if you like you turrets in the default style, then feel free to keep em that way. Plus then you are not limited to the style of your race.

The Charr see the gods of the other races as powerful entities to be conquered. Nothing more, nothing less. The Charr no longer rely on the powers of others to fight, and to do so in Charr society is weak, the Flame Legion for example relies on outward powers, Titans, Destroyers, etc. This is not the Charr way. Charr are strong because they made themselves strong.
It is not that Charr don’t believe that these Gods exist, just that the Charr don’t need a God to worship.
The Charr nearly did but the human pushed back. The Charr were beaten back in both Kryta and Orr. It is only now that the Charr are beginning to regain their former glory.
Same problem here, even re logged
My charr Warrior is Garm Rageclaw, of the Blood Legion. Thought it was fitting
I love the bomb kit, running round with my crazy little asura, exploding everything!
I purchased the emblem upgrade for my guild and despite loosing the influence the upgrade never finished
Guild: Generation Game
Tag: GG
Server: Seafarer’s Rest
Same here even happens in PvE
Same thing is happening to me
I honestly did not like it at fist, but after doing AC with it I never want to un-equip it again. Takes a fair bit of timing and tactics to use but hey, that’s the point of the game. It may not be as long range as other staves but it have a fair bit more versatility.
I think that the jagged horrors need to tweaked, at least enough to make them viable in combat. They cannot even move from one fight to the other.
As for the voice over thing. I like it, but can see how it could be annoying, maybe an option to turn off in combat VO’s would help.
