What happened to team work?

in PvP

Avatar Rage.4369

First off I am not the best pvper, not the worst by far, but not the ub3r l33t legendary player. So I know how to play. I pvp on profs that I am good at and understand. Far from a noob but not Legendary.

So here is my problem, since the start of the pvp season I developed a problem with high ranking players (or at least formerly high ranking players). Players who want to take charge and take none of the blame. Players who want to lone wolf it and ignore the team chat or give up on a match that they don’t want.

Players who claim to be the best in the matches I have been in have only dragged us down. Refuse to play with others and lashing out at their team. I have lost so many matches due to behaviour like this. These people really suck the fun out of PvP and I have never won a match with a player like this on my team.

So a friendly reminder; this is a team game. Communicate with your team. Discuss what your build can do during the ready up time. Work as a team. Learn from them, adapt and most importantly have fun.

GW2 Needs Profession LORE!

in Lore

Posted by: Avatar Rage.4369

Avatar Rage.4369

I think what we are looking for here is Elite Specialisation Lore not Profession Lore. There is a lot of lore for the in game profession. You get a little chunk at the character creation screen.

Honestly if A-net just stuck some throwaway lines with some scattered NPC’s throughout Tyria then I think this would be a largely acceptable means of building lore for Elite Specs.

For example we know that the Scrappers get their name from Charr scavengers. There could be a Charr NPC in the Black Citadel talking about how their Vigil friend was asking them about the drones they have been building or how they use a hammer to beat back threats.

They don’t need to be sign posted as an important NPC ro even sign posted. They may have say the armour piece of weapon of the Elite Spec. This does not even need voice acting.

Honestly I don’t think this lore is that important, but if it is to be done I think this would be sufficient.

Just a few suggestions

Avatar Rage.4369

Hey I have been playing GW2 since launch and with the influx of suggestions lately I thought I would throw my hat into the ring.

1.BL Weapons

Black Lion weapons are both among my favourite things in the game, but also my most hated. They are a measurement of real world wealth and luck over in game achievement. But I like them, I like that they are valuable skins worth a lot money on the TP. Not to mention most look really, really cool.

My problem with them is two fold. First of all A-Net, please stop putting weapons linked to the story steps in as BL weapons. These skins had the potential to be neat memories about at good old days. Instead they are just another BL weapon. Which is kind of sad.

Second, making some of these skin sets seasonal would be amazing. Maybe even lowering the BL ticket cost for a week or something. I know this happens for the Halloween weapons, but maybe the Luna festival ones could pop back to the for front during the Luna festival and stuff like that.

2. Racial Cities.

Why don’t any other racial cities get any love? Adding some minor activities and NPC’s during the main festivals could bring a new perspective on Festivals like Wintersday (Holbrak would be great to see at Wintersday given what happened in GW:EN). This happened a bit with the Black Citadel at Halloween and it was pretty fun and great to see people going to normally pretty empty areas of the map.

Having smaller racially specific festival would also be nice. Just a few that come to mind:

Norn claim Dragon Bash to raise moral and rally against Jormag. Numerous events centred around the Sons of Svanir trying to ruin the celebration.
Charr have begun to open up to other races about with their Iron Legion day. The date would correspond with the release of GW1 and celebrate how the Charr reclaimed Ascalon. Activities based around learning about Charr lore past and present, while keep human celebrators calm.
Asura, I could think of something fresh here, but let’s face it, everyone loves SAB.

Things like this makes the world feel more alive and less human focused.

3. Gliders (this one is a hypothetical suggestion)

I love gliders. I love that gliders can be used everywhere. They are cool. But I do have a minor qualm with them and a slight worry about the future. My qualm is that they are only obtainable through the TP. My worry is how these TP only skins will be affected by any newer tools that are released in the future (if they are released).

On some level it makes sense that gliders are TP only considering F2P players can’t use them. There is nothing worse than getting a drop as a F2P player and realising that you have to pay to use it.

What will happen if there is a new expansion that makes gliders useless? It would be pretty useless if there was an underwater expansion, or one that lacked verticality (crystal desert). So my suggestion here would be to make glider skins into all purpose tools. You buy a glider skin and it morphs into a sail when you need it or something.

4. Unarmed combat.

People chime in with this from time to time, but might I suggest a simpler solution that trying to balance an unarmed slot? Make a new weapon, gauntlets. A one handed universal weapon that lets the player have unarmed attacks. There could also be an empty skin for it to let the player use it as just a fist.

So what do you guys and gals think of this? I am just alone, crazy and rambling or am I on to something with some of these?

Necromancers: Minions and Society

in Lore

Posted by: Avatar Rage.4369

Avatar Rage.4369

Racial differences aside (I think everyone else has covered that nicely) there is a general hard rule for good necromancy and bad necromancy.

Good necromancy uses minions like what the player characters use. These are puppets made of dead flesh and bone. So they are basically empty shells, with no soul and an extension of the necromancers will. (Note the gameplay mechanic that you do not control a minion like a ranger controls a pet, the move and hit. That is pretty much it.)

Bad necromancy brings everything back. This is when necromancy tampers with souls and such. Verata, Khilbron and Zhaitan, seem to all use this. In game if you see ghosts, skeletons, Risen and other “non-minion” based undead, these seem to all involve a soul mingled in there.

In GW2 necromancers also seem to lack the need for a body. To me this seems to indicate that the necromancer is actually manifesting their minions, possibly calling on the powers of the Underworld (this is speculation though).

So while the complete creatures like skeletons, zombies and mummies could be considered the result of “bad” necromancy (containing a possibly enslaved soul). While necromancers (the player class) build there minions as tools and weapons lacking a soul, so this is considered “good” necromancy (fleshy meat puppets).

The Return of Human Gods

in Lore

Posted by: Avatar Rage.4369

Avatar Rage.4369

The Six Gods left the world of Tyria because of the damage they do when they directly involve themselves. A civil war between them turned an entire sea into a desert, and a verdant coastline into a poisonous wasteland.

They also want humanity to stand on their own, and the best means to do that is non-interference.

It would be nice to see plots related to them again – particularly Menzies and Dhuum need to be handled – but I wouldn’t expect them to just up and return to Tyria. Seeking them out on the other hand…

I would love to see them build on Menzies and Dhuum in the absence on of the Six.

How did 99% of the Mursaat Die?

in Lore

Posted by: Avatar Rage.4369

Avatar Rage.4369

Super quick summery for those clicking on here and freaking out at the masses of text.

Mursaat were/are super powerful mages that hid in the mists. They gained control of the mists either during or before the last rise of the Elder dragons. Their control of the mists allowed them to use powerful abilities like Spectral Agony.

During GW1 they were brought to the edge of extinction by the player character. This was done both directly, by killing them and indirectly by releasing the titans.

Lazarus the Dire brought himself back by tricking the player during an EotN quest line. The Mursaat that survived the initial attack where killed in the first Battle of Lions Arch.

I enjoy watching them for a while. Thinking it fills the world with more life than any NPC could.

Sad is just that, if you interact with them, they ignore you. Even if they walk on a road in Dredgehaunt C. … and you walk towards them, greeting them as you slip through (as an Asura).

I am glad other people like seeing them around. I considering talk the bad things I heard about the RP community dying out.

And that is a little sad that you got ignored. I used to RP on some other games so I know from experience that some RPers will avoid none-Rpers so that they don’t have to break character. I never did this myself, usually people who approached me wanted to test the waters.

Avatar Rage.4369

If any recruiters have questions for me or think I might be a nice fit for your guild feel free to drop me a message. Below is a bit of an outline of my preferences.

Server preference: EU, Seafarer’s Rest. Open to switching home server if nestle in to a new home guild

Play Type Preference: PvX. I play a bit of everything. Oh and I am also open to joining an RP guild as I am growing curious of the RP community in GW2.

Player Style: Mostly casual.

Active Time: I play most evenings (apart from Saturdays) for a few hours.

Voice preference: Open to voice chat, but only once I have gotten to know the guild better. Oh and I only speak English

Social preference: I am looking for a friendly guild where I can get to know some nice new people. I do not care about size or overt activity level. As long as there is usually someone nice and friendly online I will be a happy camper.

A little about myself: Hi I have played GW2 since launch, but I have recently took a short break from playing regularly. So I thought this would be a nice opportunity to join a new guild and meet new people. I am an alterholoic so I play literally everything (apart from mesmer). I am also a cautious player, although I like to meet new people I like to get to know them first. So I like to use guild chat before voice chat until I become more comfortable with the guild as a whole. My schedule is also pretty hectic so if you so some days I will a lot of time to play, while other days I may not be on at all (real world stuff, sigh).

Side note for RP guilds: I used to role-play a lot on other MMO’s but never in GW (which is odd because I main GW since the original game). I am quite interested in learning the ropes of the GW" RP community.

So after a bit of a dry spell I have started playing GW2 again. Catching up on the new content added, farming gold, you know the usual things you do to get back into the swing of things.

But I have been noticing something, something that makes me smile. I have noticed more role-players lately.

I don’t know why but I think it is nice to see this part of the community more and more lately.

I love seeing role-players wandering around Tyria and I am curious whether it is just me noticing them more or if other non-role-players have noticed too.

Oh and if you are a role-player, has there been a boon in the number of role-players lately? Or has that LFG tool been the reason?

I also think it would be neat if these butterfly style back pieces could be used a gliders too or even make it so that the old molten backpack has a glider animation.

I am a casual play too but I think that the expansion is fine.

It is more difficult than some other areas but these are level 80 areas. They are on par with some areas in Orr or Drytop. They just have less safe zones.

A lot of the HPs have been turned into vets already too.

Honestly I don’t see where all the negativity is coming from, at least in terms of difficulty.

But to those out there who are claiming it is too hard, take a moment to think. If the expansion is not for you then either adapt or go back to the core world. I know it sounds harsh but A-Net cannot win either way.

The Dragons Seem Too Weak

in Lore

Posted by: Avatar Rage.4369

Avatar Rage.4369

The Elder Dragons are powerful. On par with other God like beings like the Human Gods and the Spirirts of the Wild. In a straight up fight our characters could not win. In both cases we fought dirty.

In the Zhaitan fight we injected him with what is basically poison. That giant lazer hits the Dragon with a corrupted magic that he could not feed on. Then the canons just finished the big guy off.

While with Mordremoth we attacked his mind. We literally killed his brain and prevented it from moving on to a new host in its death throe.

But in both instances we have not battled the Dragon in the final fight, but rather we right them every time we fight their minions. Every grunt and Dragon Champion is an extension of the Dragon’s will. There is also evidence to suggest that the death of a Champion wounds its master.

We don’t just smack them, we weaken them. Once we have made a big enough hole we strike the weak point.

Fun Fact we already know the Kralkatorrik is physically weak to it’s own scales, and is also mentally vulnerable.

I like this idea though more chance of it happening if it cost gems to buy the skins.

I assumed that would be a given. But feel if this where to happen racial reskins should be purchasable in game.

Other reskins, like I don’t know a foefire effect that turns flames blue, could definitely be gem store gubbins.

I have been thinking lately (dangerous I know). Specifically I have been thinking about racial skills.

Racial skills at launch were a bit of a hot topic and have died off lately but when HoT came out I made a Revenant. Revenants do not get any racial skills, not one. This is not a problem really. They are weaker than class skills and many are almost useless. So my Revenant experience has been unaffected in terms of gameplay. However I began to remember why racial skills are in the game.

Racial skills exist purely for flavour purposes, a little skill based wink to why a race is cool. Some skills can be quite useful, like “pain interver” can give a necro access to confusion, while others are pretty pathetic like the norn forms. But overall players are not meant to use them, they are designed to be weak.

So now that we are all on the same page I can get to the point. How can we get the flavour of racial skills without having skills that are so weak you won’t miss them? My solution does not involve making them stronger (I know some people want this), but rather replace them.

I was thinking back to some really old posts from when the game launched and there it was the answer to the racial skills dilemma: skill reskins.

How would this work exactly? Well racial skills would be no more, poof, gone. And in each city there would be a racial skin vendor, you would purchase a racial reskin for your class at the cost of karma (let’s say about the same price as a T3 weapon). Reskins would have to be bought for each profession separately.

Not every reskin would be created equally, but would change the aesthetic of certain class skills. Some examples I can think of are as follows:

Asuran necromancers summon golems instead of minions.
Norn take an animal fomr when undertaking certain form changes, like Bear with Rampage or Raven with Lich Form.
A norn could summon minions based on reskinned versions of their animal spirit (from your character creation)
Turrets could change to match the active racial skin, plant turrets for sylvari, asuran turrets for asura, iron legion style turrets for charr, etc.
Banners could also look more flavourful to their summoned race.

Why should this replace racial skills? Because this could only feasibly implemented in PvE, just like racial skills. Costing karma would also give more a purpose to a somewhat dead currency. Not to mention these could be offered for elite specs separately from the core professions.

What do you guys think? Am I on to something here?

Review of HoT: The Good, Bad and Other Stuff

Avatar Rage.4369

Final section these are my closing thoughts and personal suggestions for the future.

Is it worth the money?

Yes very fun, a solid expansion. I have played expansions that have had less content spread over more area or space. HoT has a nice comfortable mixture of content that should have something for everyone. But it won’t change peoples opinion on GW2 if they felt it was not for them.

How do we move forward?

New innovative ways of getting around. People like mounts, but gliders are just as good. If Arena-Net can keep this up in a couple of future expansions, like a diving device in an underwater expansion or some form of sled.

Saying that, it can be disappointing to walk around the core content and not have glide. I would love to be able to use my glider in the main maps, obviously being locked out in “no-gliding zones”, near jumping puzzles and such.

Disappointing amount of gem store-ness. I get it, it is cosmetic but hear me out here. Every Glider skin is obtained through the gem store, it would have been a perfect opportunity to use The Holographic Wings or some other back pieces earned through in game content. Some special little gliders made of things earned rather than bought. Alternative have a glider crafted from some of the disciplines.

Finally the Living World, I feel like HoT is relying too much on the Living World to finish things off. Big risk but I am looking forward to seeing the results. HoT fit in very nicely with the last season, so there is a potential of greatness here. Fingers crossed.

Thank you to everyone who has read this and thank you Arena Net for such a fun expansion.

Other stuff

Okay this is the where I am going to discuss things I have mixed feelings about.

Story. Pacing aside I felt that the story was quite good. Not amazing, but quite good. The reason why it is not in the “Good” section is because of how it seems a bit wishy washy at times. New concepts are thrown in very quickly without delving too deeply into them. But there are very cool set pieces with some great voice acting. Much better than the implementation of the core games story, but still not perfect. This feels more like Arena Net are just finding their stride, hopefully the next expansion will have a better quality story. But for now it is a little bit disappointing, only a little bit though.

Activities. These are fun, but I can’t help but I feel like keeping them in the HoT areas was a mistake. Some of these could be placed in the core of Tyria like the infamous shooting range in Divinity’s Reach. Granted these could be added at a later date but this seems like it could be a neat way to wet the whistles of a specific group of gamer. “Oh, you want more activities? then maybe you should invest in the expansion”. A missed opportunity here in my opinion.

The Revenant. This is a really fun class but unfortunately this falls under the category of “buying power”(at least to me). Despite this class being pretty balanced (at least from what I have experienced) it has a unique play style that could provide an advantage. However considering the fact that this fills the niche of the 3rd heavy character, this probably won’t happen again, so I can look past it.

Interaction with the core game. I can’t help but feel that the interaction with the core game was very limited here. This is a tiny and personal thing but being able to visibly show off things to players who don’t own the expansion is limited to “Look a Revenant!” or “Look and Elite Spec!”. Having more things to show off is always a nice way to convince other players.

One last section left….

Review of HoT: The Good, Bad and Other Stuff

The Bad

The unexpected effects. Tomes of knowledge are the best example of this, they are fairly useless now unless you want to level alts. Kind of sad but I understand why. Making some of these changes clearer, earlier would have been helpful. Developers in general should not assume that every player downloading the Expansion have been following the game for months or watching and reading every bit of news. As a players I have had to teach some friends about some of the changes made to the game. Bad job on foresight.

Padding could be managed better. Padding can be fine and can extend content in an enjoyable way. But some of the Masteries required for the story content come out of the blue. A little bit more focus would have been nice. Bad job on staying on target.

I know this section was short but the next is the big one so stick with me here.

Thought I would share my thoughts about the expansion.

The Good

These are what I will whole heartedly praise Arena Net for one reason or another.
First off is the Open World. This is the best part, lots of content, lots of events, lots of new enemies. The map wide meta events are all very fun and very epic, and they work well with the new gliders. It is great seeing the community pull together on a map wide scale. Commanders and Mentors keeping everyone moving and have been a testament to the community. Good job A-net and good job players.

Next up is the loot. New weapon and armour skins are cool. This is going to give me a lot to work for in the future. And best of all I have not saw a lot of people using the new skins so for the time being they have at least some prestige. Good job on the shiny shiny.

Gliding and mushrooms, Kind of linked with the Open World but deserves a mention none the less. I was not expecting to enjoy the new movement modes so much and having a couple of the old back pieces appear as gliders did get me excited when I first entered the new areas. If adding new modes of movement is Arena Nets answer to mounts in the future I would be quite happy, indeed. So Good job for thinking outside the box.

Elite Specialisations, I think we can all agree that this was the best bit. Giving each class a new way to play was a smart idea and although not all are created equal there is something there for everyone. I know I will be playing some of my least played classes just to try the new Elite Spec. Good job for skill points.

Next up is the Bad

Sylvari court, dream, mordrem not explained

in Lore

Posted by: Avatar Rage.4369

Avatar Rage.4369

The relationships between all the Sylvari sects just hit Neon genesis Evangelion level of wtf.

When you start as a Sylvari you face the shadow of the dragon in the dream which is clearly portrayed as related to the nightmare.

Then we find out that the court isn’t related to the dragon at all. The nightmare is never explained and the story never touches on the important mechanic that causes Sylvari that join the nightmare to “become evil” and never be able to come back.

What is the Nightmare? Another tree? I had assumed the Nightmare was an extension of Mordremoth’s will. I mean it corrupts and there is no coming back.

Then you have scarlet who went crazy after looking into the eternal alchemy and hearing the dragon call to its minions (which the Sylvari are). The relationship between the eternal alchemy and the dragon were also unexplained.

When this all wraps up the revelations are too slow, too cryptic, and too complex for me put together.

What about Malyck and the other tree?

Righty let’s start off with the Shadow of the Dragon. This can be viewed in three ways:
1 This Dragon is Zhaitan.
2 This Dragon is the Mordrem Champion for season 2.
3. This dragon represent all Elder Dragons.

The Dream and the Wild Hunt are often open to interpretation by many Sylvari. So not having a definitive answer, but rather a few interpretations is adequate and acceptable from a narrative perspective.

The Nightmare is considered to be the true form of the dream by the Nightmare Court. They use the suffering of Sylvari to corrupt the Dream. We now know they are not a part of the Mordrem but may have accidentally tapped into some of the Dragons power/influence. There is no mechanic to joining the Nightmare Court, at least not really. Joining the Nightmare is when a Sylvari turns it’s back on the Pale tree and focus on negative emotions (hate, anger, greed, etc). Most of this can be found in the early Sylvari story and in their starting area.

The Eternal Alchemy, according to the Asura, is related to all things. Everything is a part of the Alchemy. It is like the Force in Star Wars or the concept of Chi in some Eastern Philosophies.

As for Malyck, I have no clue what happened to him. I don’t think we where ever told we would find out more about him.

The Mystery of Countess Anise

in Lore

Posted by: Avatar Rage.4369

Avatar Rage.4369

I am just gonna throw my hat into the ring here and share my theory.

Anise is both Queen Jennah and Livia. Livia and Anise share a few personality traits with each other, strong, determined, deceptive, etc. This is what most people jump too when they link Anise with Livia and it is understandable why they would. But the problem I see here is the complete profession shift.

So throughout the GW2 lore we are reminded that Queen Jennah is a powerful Mesmer. Yet we see nothing of her powers in terms of combat, they are usually in the form tricks and deceptions for her foes. What if Anise is just another one of her deceptions? Even through all of these tricks she is still considered to be honest. This strikes me as a bit odd. Why would such a powerful character hide her strength? well maybe she is hiding it in plain sight, where all can see.

Livia is hundreds of years old in GW2 and it would be strange to have such an ancient figure in the public eye. Jennah could mask her and act through her, Livia acts a conduit for Jennah’s power, in terms of her combat prowess. She does not shatter at the touch of others because the illusion is a mere mask and not a true clone.

This allows Livia to serve the Queen and remain in the public eye. With the Queen acting as a relative pacifist, taking defensive actions and using here powers as a super megaphone (see Edge of Destiny). It allows her to look defenceless in the face of danger, with an Anise mask as a weapon to strike with minimal blame directed at here. Livia also serves her purpose and remains in her position with a new face and guise.

Of course this assumes that Anise is not just Anise, which is actually just as likely.

I am going tot go with the whole, “all good things must come to an end” cliche. I like here, she was a pretty fun antagonist, even though people turned against her quickly.

PvP reward progress removed so...

Why are you getting rid of the finishers? I think that’s stupid. It motivates more then half the players in PVP to PVP. That was one of the biggest motivators in GW1 HOH (Hall of Heroes). I took me a long time to hit Rank 13 to get my Phoenix emote. As I’m working for it again now. Taking this away is stupid.

I could not agree more. I am primarily a PVE player but seeing some of those finishers in the tower of nightmares really motivated me. But now that I know I will never get this finishers that motivator is gone.

Removing Ranks?

A lot of people are misunderstanding what is happening. People who have earned their rank emotes and finishers will get to keep them as they are.

If I understand what people are saying, and I may be wrong, many people are treating ranks as more of a lifetime achievement. That is certainly something to consider in regards to the future reward system replacing them.

I have saw some posts on other thread along the lines of this. I would love for the ranks and their finishers to be converted to achievement ranks. I mean these are really things that some players are aiming for in pvp, especially since finisher became useful in areas of pve as well.

Personally I’m not working towards the finishers, but I can see that a lot of people are for quite a while now, to obtain a specific one. I would find it unfair to remove that in the future.

Why not simply keep it? Keep ranks for that purpose only, it’s nice to have one thing that shows how much time a player has spent playing the gamemode. Alternatively you could tie rank-finishers to sPvP achievement tiers while removing ranks.

I am totally for this, removing these from the game and potentially taking them away from new players. Their removal is the only thing I am really against with these updates.

Please A-net find a way to keep them in for new players and those who have not quite achieved it yet and linking them to the achievements would be a great idea.

I mean I never knew how cool they were until the tower of nightmares when I saw a shark finisher being performed. My mind was blown by how cool it was and motivated me to look into the pvp section. But now that I know they are going away that motivation is kinda gone.

I actually have not problem with it. I mean how many necros will you see running about with a fire skin.

Despite not going to buy it anyway I feel Anet should have stuck to their guns and kept it in the game

As long as the legendary armor is also really hard to get, im totally fine with it. Maybe like 300g per piece of armor, or maybe even more.

I feel that it would be best to have them both skill and grind based. You collect 4 pieces from various means, possibly following something that resembles a traditional quest. Those parts combine into a single piece. None of it is trade and each armour piece has different requirements.

I honestly don’t like the way people can just buy a legendary now, it has caused them to lose their sheen. This way you know some one has earned there armour and not just bought it.

Personally only a fraction of the people dislike Scarlet. but those are, as always the people who speak out on the forums. I absolutly love the character and think she is truly a job well done.

So definitely not signed.

I must day I agree with you. I really like her. Lore is not unwritten here just expanded and that has always been something that has made Guild Wars so great.

So yeah definitely not signed

I really like this post. Great creativity.

The only thing I’d say for legendary armor is that I really hope ANET doesn’t go too artsy and random with the designs. By that I mean, don’t make really niche armor that only a small number of people will really love. I would stick to really basic symmetrical designs that have really great polish, potentially particle effects, or intricate details.

I think you’l just disappoint the player base if you go too “out there” with the designs like this one: http://www.gw2armor.com/human/male/named/heavy/display_looks.php

I think every single class’s Heavy T3 Cultural Armor is exceptionally done. Keep them visually appealing, but not really eccentric.

I completely get what you are saying, but going on the legendary theme, they are all pretty over the top, not to mention if they change depending on profession no one really gets left out. Which means more will be motivated to get the armour. I mean look at the way necros complained when they first saw the legendary staff, sceptre and focus.

Though yeah I think I may have gone over board a little with the light armour.

Searched the forum and found nothing on this so throwing this out there.

We know the A-net want to do Legendary armour and accessories so I just thought I would make a post with my suggestions for the aesthetic of them, how to obtain them, etc.

Aesthetic: Light, medium and heavy armour sets all have a default look to them, but when the full armour set is worn then parts of the armour change according to profession. I feel this would discourage people from dismissing the armours on an aesthetic basis alone.

Heavy armour- basic design a rusted and worn heavy plate armour.

Warrior: Scarred battle armour that glows with the adrenaline of the the wearer. As adrenaline builds the cracks and scars in the armour glow. When the burst skill is used then the armour emits a flash (when it has ended).

Guardian: The armour is somewhat pristine and has particular visual effects corresponding to what virtues you have as a passive. Courage wraps the armour in a kind of spirit armour (vanishes with the Aegis), Justice causes blue flames to appear on the eye sockets (and maybe in gems and certain decorations), while Resolve causes the wearer to give off a light (kind of like the moot but bluey).

Medium Armour: basic design- and ornate trench coat
Assassin: Has many zipper pockets throughout long, hooded, tench coat. When an item is stolen a pocket becomes zipped up. On high levels of initiative knifes and other tools can be seen on armour, they are shed once the initiative reaches certain thresholds.

Engineer: Semi-mechanical trench coat, items on coat change depending one what is equiped in the tool belt. Turrets adds a wrist device, elixirs add bottles around the belt, gadgets cause gears and springs to move on armour, kits cause poaches to bulge.

Ranger: Sleeveless trenchcoat. Trim of coat changes depending on what pet is currently out. Furry creature have fur trim, scales for scaly creatures (drakes and sharks, fish), arachnids have spider legs sticking, pigs have a boney tusk like trim, devourers have a trim made of large scorpion tails, jellyfish have a bubble trim and birds have a feather trim. Player leaves a trail of fur/feathers etc, behind as they move about and a burst of this effect occurs when changing to shroud the transformation. The trail/burst is replaced by bubbles underwater.

Light Armour- basic design – robes that contain “magical” glowing veins throughout armour leading to orbs on key points of armour.

Elementalist: Glow of veins change depending one attunement. Fire=orange (lava effect), water=blue (orbs freeze over), air= no colour instead lightning shoots up these veins, earth= no colour but stones spread throughout tethered by a magnetic effect. Other attunement base effects dance around key armour points.

Necromancer: Veins glow green, cloth on armour is tattered. As death shroud bar fills shadow effect begins to dance key points of armour.

Mesmer: Veins glow pink/purple. Butterflies flutter around mesmer spread from key points the more the illusions he or she has. When ever one is shattered a layer of them explodes in a flash of pink lightning.

Obtained from: completing certain in game challenges in far off reaches of tyria, in a variety of different locations. Each challenge ranges from jumping puzzles to completing certain events, each one rewarding the player with a certain item that corresponds to a certain armour piece. Once 4 parts to a certain armour piece are collected they are placed in the mystic forge.

What do you guys think? Do you think this would be lame? awesome? some where in between?

Mad King Thorn is a pretty blatant one with some awesome lore. One of my favorite characters really.

There is not a lot about the the way the landscapes are based on but the are a fair few characters. Not to mention a lot of charters in the Underworld, and the Realm of Torment are based on dark, sinister and apocalyptic things. I believe there is a four horseman reference somewhere.

This would go great with GW1’s furry ears.

I actually don’t see a problem with the current system. I feel some traits need tweaking but other than that, nothing.

There is a bunch of builds designed to heal and provide a lot of support. The problem is that people don’t want to use them because they tend to be very specific in either the situation or in terms of skills\traits.

I got my main elementalist to level 80 a month and a half ago and still have not gotten an exotic drop. Wvw has done me nothing, champ and world boss events have gotten me nothing, and fractals have done me nothing. I have 56sh magic find (last time I checked but that was a while ago). Someone donate me there exotics because I want my kitten globs already.

A decent way of doing it is by combining weapons in the mystic forge.

4 blues = 1 green
4 greens = 1 rare
4 rares = 1 exotic

Not a 100% reliable way of doing it but you can sell the ones you don’t want for some quick cash and buy one too.
