Thank you to STaR for the gvgs. My guild had a great deal of fun tonight. STaR is an honorable opponent and BS has great deal of respect for them. We were nervous about our fight tonight and had several members practicing their builds.

As for our “team composition”, we are small so we don’t have much of a choice. We had 17-18 people online. However, I did make a conscious effort to bring all the necros and mesmers online along with all their boon stripping skills. Everybody else rolled with whatever classes and builds they are best at.

I also offer an apology for whatever trolling my guild did during the gvg and whatever they may say in this match-up thread. BS is full of jerks (including yours truly).

I counted at least 10 banners on their 20v20 with DI.

We call that kiting back. It’s strategic. That’s how we win battles.

I thought NSP had good small man roaming teams. What happened to xoxo? spca? There are more but I forget.

Yeah. What BL’s do you tend to roam? We mostly hit ET BL and some AR BL, whereas I’ve noticed BS seems to really like Dh’s BL lol.

We’re nearly always enemy Bl (from our perspective) so we’ll hit DH BL & AR BL. We’ve been on DH quite a bit in the past few days.

We occasionally do EB and some solo roamers will do ET. I did ET BL late last night and it was a snooze fest.

Both Jeknar and I were in the fights the other night at the camp between Bay & AR spawn when we repeatedly skirmish with both Evil & Anbu. Granted, neither one of us were there the entire time as various BS jumped in and out but I do recall whispering Assassin X several times.

I’ve been trying to set up a gvg with Anbu all week. I’ve made multiple attempts only to be met with “everybody is on vacation.” If you want to settle this like real men, name a time and BS will be there to merk you in a fair gvg.

1. Please understand my points. My issue isn’t with the fact that you use legendary guards, but instead what you do when they’ve killed someone. I don’t like the legendary guards bit, but it’s not the point.

2. Anbu does not have a problem with you, so what do we have to settle? Are you saying you’re so petty that you’re trying to create a problem with Anbu by being disrespectful to our members? So far, only one Anbu has mentioned having a problem with you, (me).

This is exactly my point, instead of trying to settle things like a reasonable, decent person, you resort to demanding a gvg and asserting you’ll “merk” us (I can only assume in an attempt to goad us into combat). You’re proving my point, BS is full of people who just act trashy.

Regardless, I’m not the leader of anbu. It’s not up to me to set up GvG’s. You’re PMing the right person already I do believe, and if he says no, it’s no.

1. We do not claim to be classy. We revel in being disliked/hated etc. In general, Basic = a bunch of jerks. We have a bad rep and grow it with care.

2. We love gvgs. I was told Anbu was interested in a gvg. I do not see anything wrong with challenging Anbu to a gvg and trying to add some extra “motivation”.

3. I really have fun being a forum warrior but I see you aren’t of the same perspective. This is one of the parts of the game I enjoy the most. Fighting on the field and then chest thumping in the forums. This is not something personal. I consider this part of pvp culture. Ah, Anbu, attack us at spawn with 20+ people and expect our less than 10 people to NOT use legendaries.

We like to throw siege on your thief since he is 1.) bad and 2.) cheap since he likes to stealth and gank people at 25% health. 1v1, we merked him everytime but he needs to hide behind the zerg to win.

I once set up a 5v5 and mugi was part of the makeup but mugi fell asleep and was never heard from again. I was sad.

I love how the only responses are from t1 and t2 when they asked for mid tier. I think mid would be more like tiers 4-6

SF = king of locked threads.

AR = runs set builds = difficult to kill on my necro (because of lack of stability)
DH = runs random builds = easy to kill = has a lot of numbers.

My personal experience.

I’d say http://www.gw2wvw.net is the best option. I enjoy reddit but I have banned myself from going to that website as somehow 5 hours of my day disappears every time I visit. It is almost as bad as tvtropes.

The cat herders of our server have had enough of the cats. Thus they sound demoralized. The rest of us are having fun this week. My guild is much happier this week as the last two matchups have essentially been dead.

A lot of people are PvE rangers. PvE is easy mode. PvE rangers go to WvW = perception that rangers are bad.

A good ranger is very valuable in a smaller fights. In zergballs, they don’t have enough group utility to bring to the table.

I love roaming with great rangers. My guild’s ranger has saved my kitten many a time.

Scenario about GvG ethics.
15v15 scenario

Guild A: Has good class comp, runs the “guild perfered” builds, Listens to one commander/driver, very experience group in Zergbusting and GvGs other guilds frequently.

Guild B: No class comp, running their own roaming builds, No one drives them and tells them what to do, very experienced solo-roamers/small scale players and are considered the best roamers of the that entire league.

Fight begins, Guild A gets aced by Guild B. Guild B wins and no one is downed out of all 10 rounds. Guild A tells Guild B not to GvG anymore because using small scale tactics is considered bad manners because it shows no player cohesion/team skill. Reason why Guild B won was because unlike Guild A, They were very spread out and easily kited bursts while consistently applying so much pressure that Guild A couldn’t back off to blast water. Instead of the typical ball vs ball where you have them bursting and pushing and running out to recover, Guild B ended up surrounding Guild A and everyone that fell away from the group was stomped while the rest where just being bursted then kited to death.

Was Guild B in the wrong for not having a “comp” and basically accused of “Cheesing” the GvG? Or are there set rules to where you have to have some standard?

I read this and went “Wow…this is the story of my guild”. We’re Guild B exactly as you describe. If you are a representative of Guild B, please, please tell me if we ever face each other in wvw. I would love a gvg with other roamers. I’m on Eredon Terrace.

I’m in agreement with the posters above. Guild A probably has players that do not equal the skill level of Guild B. I find that roamers dodge better and generally survive better in fights than people used to grouping up.

Evil from AR, would you like to gvg?

I suggest picking the mid-tier servers that appeal to you and going through the gw2gvg list and checking out the gvg guilds listed on those servers. Most of those are also wvw guilds.

Guys, Guys. ET is the Kingdom of roamers. As a roamer, I only use siege as tombstones for my fallen foes. That may be why you see bad siege placement everywhere.

We had a great 4v4 GvG with TV today. Thank you for the good fights and being good sports.

I wonder at the rankings too. I just lost 3 tpvp matches and went up 100 ranks. I was wondering if there are very few people playing tpvp so almost everyone is top 1000…..

Light fields are soooooo last week. Smoke fields are the new it combo field.

Eredon is about the same state except we’re only High pop. (Gais it is 800 gems cheaper u shud tottally transfer to et. we r pro i sware.)

I would love transfer to be tier based as well since lower tiers generally means lower WvW population. It would be nice to get a bit more population on the lower tiers because it is getting harder to find people to fight right now.

I save myself a headache by never buying a commander tag. To the commanders out there, I salute you!

I see your build as lacking in dps. I used to run this build for the lolz of all of the fear but it’s rather gimmicky and countered if you run up against stability (which every class who has it brings).

From the picture, I see that Necromancers are a good class to gank.

If by gank, you mean zerg down, then you would be correct.

Thieves are generally easy to kill if they stick around. My problem is that they stealth and run away then come back and I can’t really chase them down. They come back later to try to gank me when I’m out of life force.

I do wish there was a better way to counter stealth other than stealth traps. :P

@ Styx, does your guild want to gvg? I need some material so we can get our thread locked one last time before we lose this subforum.

This is my quick and dirty evaluation on the cons of roaming on different classes.

Guardian = slow, relatively low mobility (versus warrior), few cripples/slows.
Necro = no mobility, either win or die.
Ele = probably good for both roaming and zerging
Mesmer = boring to play in zerg. Relegated to veil and portal machinese. I would rather roam on a mesmer since it would be more fun.
Warrior = Anets favorite class. Just give them portal and they’ll be able to do anything!
