There are less tier 6 wood nodes than metal nodes.
So basically we need to be bumped up to the next health value of 15k.
What?! Better be a bug…
Stealth updating the patch notes to add that statement after the fact just goes to show how shady and misleading this whole process of removing MF has been.
Advertise the change one way, implement it another, then go back and change the notes on how the change was supposed to be.
So unprofessional in my book.
Pretty much this. I had a set of MF gear that I would of course no longer use ready for my alt. But of course it stayed soulbound because Anet flat-out lied to us, then retconnec their notes.
The whole concept of a ‘daily’ is horrendous.
Not even Dragons seem to have the power to prevent Ghosts from haunting an area where their traumatic deaths may have occurred. …this seems to tie in with the Mists and ‘the Rift’ itself. There’s a chance we might get more answers on it if the Thaumaneuva Reactor actually gets some rich back story to it, but I wouldn’t hold your your breath on that. The Living Story team seems more interested in hawking cash shop items than selling us reasonable explanations and plot.
….Bear in mind that we’re not even Ascended heroes or chosen and we’re definitely not Weh No Su in this new continuation so all the Phantasmal entities we see are manifest through their own means, not ours.
That’s a good point. Kind of makes you wonder what’s the Mursaat up to these days.
Only 3 Mursaat survived the onslaught of the War in Kryta, and it’s unlikely that they reproduce, since they aren’t sentient beings. Chances are they’ve all died off some way or another by now, or all 3 fled to the Isle of Janthir where they originally came from.
What?
They also throw Ninja Stars… Just like in Naruto AKA the first ever depiction of Ninjas ever created ever….
The ninja stars are called shuriken.
Also, ninjas and fiction depicting them were around way before Naruto, which is a crap representation of them.

Half an hour, and a guide, to complete the easiest bits. What happens when you get to the more difficult stuff? Right, you die more. A lot more. And if you are an Oceanic player? Constantly.
Oh and you think 15 minutes extra is enough to do TM without a guide? Lol…
Also, with how bad GW2’s code handles oceanic ping…
I thought that was called “SONAR”?
I couldn’t help it. I probably could have, but not this time.
Heh :P
Did you just say ‘following guides’? Well, there goes your argument.
You pay, you gain an advantage. You have more time to attempt SAB, and more leeway for deaths. It is that simple.
I do not mind that SAB is pay to win, but the fact is it IS pay to win.
Also, with how bad GW2’s code handles oceanic ping, it is pretty much a necessity for oceanic players who want to do everything.
You pay, you save yourself time and energy. It is the very definition of pay to win. Stop trying to justify it with ‘oh but you can farm blahblahblah’, when the coin skips all of that.
The definition of pay to win is that you “pay to win”, not “pay to save time”. Or you don’t use waypoints and travel on foot, because it’s paying coins for saving time?
Pay to win does not actually mean you pay, then you win…
You pay, you save yourself time and energy. It is the very definition of pay to win. Stop trying to justify it with ‘oh but you can farm blahblahblah’, when the coin skips all of that.
It is pay to win. Stop kidding yourselves.
Only women named Alex should be allowed to wear them.
Celestial is bad for ele if there is no MF to compensate. Toughness is bad, condition damage is bad, and healing power scales like kitten .
We needed the break.
Do ANY of these 5%/10% more damage traits work on Condition Damage?
No, only direct damage.
:(
Do ANY of these 5%/10% more damage traits work on Condition Damage?
Such an analysis only provides a narrow view of the overall problem, because it considers too few variables. In your analysis you forgot to take Protection into account. Boons define the elementalist. Some build can keep permanently protection up, giving you 0.33 damage reduction. Protection influences the effect and the optimal value of toughness. Ironically, protection reduces the marginal damage mitigation effect of toughness.
Not really. We can see how bad toughness is without massive amounts of vitality.
Advent is correct. You cannot crit Teq, so Berserker is very bad for attacking the dragon itself.
and that’s if you can actually get Balthazar to open to get you some Obsidian Shards if you don’t have any Frac relics/laurels
Orrian boxes.
Good luck with that droprate…
Sooo, you think they’re hideous, but you bought 8 of them anyway in the hopes you’ll be able to sell them one day? Speculation is a double-edged sword, my friend.
I said SKINS not weapons. The skins dropped from the Gauntlet bags.
Do you need to be level 80 to get the shards from the JP chests?
I believe so.
Nice work, bro. Keep it up.
These things are hideous, and I have 8 sitting in my bank. Will I be able to sell them to the masochists out there any time soon?
You need multiple 80s for that…
So everyone turns a blind eye towards the massive increase of critical damage on celestial gear i guess….
Yes, because all that critical damage is useless with the critical chance that this set provides.
Which you can bypass by simply having a spec/class that either can force crits (ele/thief/ranger) or have vit/tough to precision conversion and/or precision boosts. (warrior/guardian/mesmer/ranger)
orrrr just slot everything with sigil of intelligence. (especially good with ele or kit engineer)
That is horrible advice…
Unless you are a guardian or a power necro, do not bother with Celestial.
$600…wow.
Wish I had a few of them.
Don’t do what Donny Don’t does.
Yep. I am getting this as well.
You need a ton of t6 mats to craft the exotics to get to 500. Once at 500 you don’t need them nearly as much. We’ll also have more supply inc with people salvaging every blue/green for account MF (this will take far longer to cap). The prices will drop but it’ll take a while.
http://gw2crafts.net/artificing_400.html
http://gw2crafts.net/huntsman_400.html
http://gw2crafts.net/weaponcraft_400.htmlAs you can see, you really need a LOT to get to 500.
So much for making and refining ascended mats to get levels…
It is just the Bloodstone Dust. You only need 500 for one weapon, yet many people will get 10 times that by the time they actually craft anything. The dragonite ore seems fine, although it might also get out of hand eventually.
Warrior would be the cheapest profession to level.
He did not say they are buffing them in the future. He just said they are not against buffing them in the future. So it is an option, only.
And yet my full Lightning Hammer DPS build with exotic and ascended berserker gear, was killing slower in the gauntlet than most other classes.
@OP: Did you forget to consider that maybe Ascended weapons aren’t something that they intended for you to have on every single slot? Kinda like how you’re not expected to have 1-4 Legendaries on your character?
ANet fell a long way from their time of GW1 then.
“Sorry guys, we don’t expect people to have BiS items any time soon. GW1 was too fair and skill based you see? We want it to be about who is the biggest farmer”
Looking at the OP, I think people are rushing a bit too much to the Ascended stuff.
Colin has literally gone on record saying that Exotics were too easy to get, which ended up not matching their idea for BiS stuff.
Looking at the OP’s numbers, he’s got a total of 5 weapons and 32-52 hours of gameplay for the Empyreal Fragments. If he doesn’t buy Empyreal Fragments and Deldrimor Steel Ingots from the TP, he’s looking at a minimum of 6 days per weapon, for a total of 30 days. Getting 32-52 hours of gameplay within 30 days amounts to 1-2 hours a day.
Compared to various other games, being able to get BiS gear within a month and by playing as little as 1-2 hours a day is amazingly low.
You cannot buy Empyreal Fragments from the TP.
My bad, I meant Spiritwood Planks. So long as you don’t circumvent the timegating by buying them from the TP, you’re looking at a bare minimum of 6 Deldrimor Steel Ingots and 5 Spiritwood Planks per weapon, for a total of 30 and 25 for the OP’s proposed 5 weapons.
Surely you cannot say that the OP’s calculated 30-50 hours in a month is too much for BiS gear?
Different weapons require differing amounts of Deldrimor Steel and Spiritwood. The staff, for example, takes 3 Steel, but 9 planks. Elonian leather is also used for bows.
Yeah, Anet needed to offer a full refund on Celestial gear. Removing a primary stat with no compensation was very weak of them.

The problem here is that you want your Acended weapon naow. Is it intended to take some time to earn instead of like all the gear up until now that you can obtain with little to no effort at all?
I hope so.
I already have my ascended weapon ‘naow’. The problem is in the lame way I had to acquire the crafting mats, and in the poor 450-500 levelling system.
(edited by Avatara.1042)
So far i have 250 empyreal fragments without trying. I don’t grind either… All i do is play a bit, do a dungeon, kill a chest boss world event, do a fractal etc etc. I’m working on an ascended staff, but i’m not in a hurry. Seeing me at 250 fragments means that the fragments is the least of my worries.
It would be a good idea to play this game, and explore other features this game has to offer instead of whine here and avoid more difficult content.
Also i hardly doubt that anyone would really feel a disadvantage if you don’t have an ascended weapon. It’s only 1 ascended item out of many. So the points difference is so tiny, it’s neglectable. It’s another story between full exotic armor/weapon/trinkets vs all ascended once armor comes out. But right now, it’s just too tiny, unless you were too lazy to neglect your trinkets and didn’t bother getting ascended.
If you have 250 fragments ‘without trying’, then you run a lot of dungeons.
Also, a weapon upgrade is not ‘neglectable’. It is quite large.

You mean per level 80 character…
The reset is also 24 hours on those chests, which is really annoying. They should either reset with the daily, or reset every 23 hours.
Yeah, these shards do not drop enough outside of dungeons.
where can you get the celestial recipes (other than the TP) now that zephyr’s sanctum is gone?
Only the TP, unless you have some boxes saved from the Bazaar of the Four Winds.
For an elementalist, I would say it is not worth it. I just banked mine after they killed the MF on it.
TOO MUCH BLOODSTONE DUST GOD SAVE US ALL.
Eles might be fine if you restrict the discussion to a specific build (30 air GC) in the least-played & therefore least-significant part of the game (sPVP). In every other way, Ele is pretty kitten underwhelming:
- conjures still a joke
- glyphs still a joke
- signets still considerably weaker than cantrips
- high arcane, high water still required (noone roams/zergs/GVGs as 30 air GC)
- focus still sucks
- D/D has basically disappeared
Please consider the majority when dropping wtf-bombs like “Ele is OK” as this is sure to further the (noticeably already high) level of resentment of players towards yourselves.
+1.
Agreed on the shaving + making sure we don’t overdo it with big hits to the classes.
Also good points about making sure that we don’t take away the things “holding down” some of the strong builds. I think Mes and Ele are probably ok for the most part, as long as we tone down the conditions output from some classes, and bring the S/D Thief in line.
Ahahahahhahaha…eles are probably ok….ahahahahahaha! Good one!
Oh wait, you were serious?
For folks not into running fractals, you could try doing a tour of the chests dotted around the PVE zones – I hit maybe 70% of the ones listed on the wiki, and came away with 114 fragments. It is small numbers though – between 1-4 fragments, so together with jumping puzzles it will still take a few days to gather 500.
Do you have a link to the specific wiki you are referring to for these PVE chests?
