Highly Over Powered Explorers [HOPE] – Desolation EU
Confirmed! I was wondering why I heard other characters when there was nobody near me. Then I quickly switched to my character’s face and sure enough, my female Asura Elemenatlist was actually moving her lips and yelling stuff like ‘RETREAT!!’ ‘SAVE YOURSELVES!!’ ‘FOR GREAT JUSTICE!’ ‘HELP ME!’ in all the other races’ voices.
Please fix this as it is VERY disorienting; especially in WvW.
You have no idea if Mesmers do get another main hand or even a second offhand. Please wait before you QQ about it, because this could all be for nothing.
I’ve waited for two years so my faith in ANet is currently at an all-time low. If I don’t remind them about my wishes now, it will be too late and I can suck it up for another two years.
Unless they give us a Mainhand Pistol and a Shield, I call foul. The other classes get twohanded weapons with 5 skills and we get the shaft again with a 2 skill gimmick weapon.
Shield is stupid. Mainhand pistol is what we need. Who in their right mind wields an offhand pistol but can’t wield it in their main hand.
FotM – 5 Pristine Relics
WvW – 1000 Badges of Honor
PvP – Mordremoth Reward Track
To me that would be a perfect solution for everyone.
Still bugged. The Mordrem just don’t respawn often enough. Seems they only spawn once when the event timer is almost gone! And the other time they don’t even spawn at all for the entire event.
So there is no chance of completing the event (or the achievement).
I was waiting there from 8mins left with no mobs at all and suddenly with 30s left on the timer 2 Mordrem showed up; allowing me to get just one sample before the event failed.
Next time I waited the entire duration, but not a single mob spawned. And after the event failed, the next event never started up again.

In WvW the Mesmer currently only has two uses:
1. Veilbot
2. Portalbot
That is the extent of their effectiveness in WvW.
Now if only phantasms weren’t nerfed back then into suddenly requiring LoS.
First a house, then a garden
Yeah, it seems as if only 1 server is causing severe lag issues to everyone. I logged off and went for some coffee, came back to another server and no issues at all. Then I had to relog a while later because my sound was gone and was dumped back in lag-central server.
So it’s definitely on ANet’s side where 1 of their servers is causing lag issues for everyone that is unlucky enough to get dumped into it.
Here’s a picture of the available stats on the dropdown menu. I’ll also list them below.
Available Stats:
Assassin
Berserker
Carrion
Cleric
Dire
Knight
Magi
Rabid
Rampager
Shaman
Soldier
Valkyrie
I purchased the Mistforged Trident for my elementalist. But when trying to set the stats there was no option for Celestial.
Is this a bug or intended that we can’t choose Celestial stats?
The Primeval chestpiece might look pretty close to Sin’dorei armor.
I would also be in favor for adding some actual ponytails to human/norn females.
Regular and braided please!
ANet doesn’t care, so long as people buy the next shiny thing in the gemstore.
Waste of time. ANet doesn’t care unless it’s about $$ for the gemstore.
Just like those invul/fly/zoomhack programs used by people. You can report all you like but ANet doesn’t care. Just today there was a Silver Knight openly hacking towers and under the stairs at Hills lordsroom just laughing at us as he killed the npc’s; being completely invulnerable and instabuilding siege whenever he felt like it.
In my opinion ANet needs to stop with this temporary content and focus more on adding permanent content.
Now if only ANet could have (FOR ONCE!) allowed us to get the Chaos of Lyssa recipe from the event vendor for 1600 tokens and Favor or something.
I mean, come on it’s only for the RECIPE! It’s still going to cost 50g in runestones and 15x Damask/Elonian/Deldrimor to make.
But no, that one has to be tucked away in a specific gauntlet box at 0.00000001% chance so maybe 15 people worldwide will get it. >_<
Now if only we could have bought the Chaos of Lyssa recipe from the same vendor for 1600 tokens and Favor.
But no, that one has to be tucked away in a specific gauntlet box at 0.00000001% chance. >_<
I don’t think that one counts for Dive Master.
I did Dive Master just a little while ago and of all the locations that were listed on Dulfy; the Zephyrite one was not part of it.
A real shame too as I’m now stuck and will never get the Dive Master because the last one I need is in the ‘Not So Secret’ Aetherblade JP which is impossible for me.
Someone linked [Indomitable] in chat and several people yelled not to mouse over it because it would crash GW2.
Naturally, I moused over it and sure enough it crashed GW2 instantly!!
I only hope we will finally get that merchant for those stacks of Blade Shards.
Cool! Thanks for the tips
1k healing power imo is to much, i imagine this being for WvW, also Pure of voice is way more important with those runes.
Oh, I figured that I would need some healing power and I’ve seen some entries of 1200 being the ‘magic number’ or something. So I tried to keep it close to that but not at the complete expense of defenses. What would be a better amount of healing power I could aim for?
I must admit that Force of Will (or any other new GM trait) is overly spectacular so I can see why Pure of Voice would be much more important.
Hmmm, alright. I’ve been trying to fit together a build. Partly based on your recommendations and partly what I felt was decent. I’m was wondering what you guys think.
Thanks for everything you guys have posted so far, I really appreciate it!
Your best bet would be mixing Sentinel and Cleric gear. For traits there are a number of different routes you can take. 0/0/6/6/2, 0/0/6/4/4, 0/0/4/6/4, and 0/0/2/6/6. Just don’t expect to kill anything because you are pretty much giving up all offensive options for survivability and support.
No worries, I was mainly after survivability and support. :P
Hey everyone, I was hoping some of you might be able to help me out.
You see, I’ve been looking for a build that would be practically unkillable in WvW and support their allies during the fight. Kinda like what commanders are supposed to be, either running at the front of a zerg and able to live through a clash with an enemy zerg or support the troops from the rear with mighty blessings or just to /laugh at the pathetic antics of a thief spamming backstabs to no avail while I just keep on going.
Unfortunately I don’t really know what would be best to take. For gear I was thinking that full Sentinel might be good for surviving, but then again something with +Healing might offer more benefits to groups.
Is there anyone who knows of an extremely durable support build that can survive and provide support in a zergfest or laugh at thieves with their cheese builds? :P
Thanks!!
I’m using Fire and Ice
Monsters should hit weaker and more often, that’s one simple and useful adjustment. You won’t be able to dodge it all – tough/vit/healing suddenly become needed in the team.
THIS! I am so tired of Champion Undead Chicken #5432 shooting you from out of nowhere with several 20k damage eggs.
Ah, alright. Such a shame that it doesn’t work when using Tornado.
Thanks anyway guys, I appreciate it.
I was wondering if the new GM trait Stone Heart also works when using the Tornado elite while you’re in Earth attunement. Or does Tornado remove any attunement for the duration when used?
Thanks!

I’m glad to see there are so many people who apparently never spend a dime on GW2. If I bought all the character slots and inventory space I get standard with a subscription game that alone would equate to $15/mo. in the gem store. Thank god I’m not a mini collector.
Also, nobody said ESO is the next big thing. They said they’re bored with GW2 and at this point other games are looking tempting. Anet’s frankly been really lucky throughout 2013 because they didn’t have any real competition, but this year they have ESO, Wildstar, and WoD. Even if those all have subs, they still offer a completely new gaming experience (less so for WoD). New races, new classes, new zones, everything you’re not getting with GW2 right now.
I believe the key difference for a lot of people (myself included) is that in GW2 I can choose to buy gems (and you can do it with ingame gold too). But even if I don’t ‘spend a dime’, I always retain access to all aspects of the game. In any other P2P MMO you do not have a choice but are required to pay or you lose access to all aspects of the game.
So effectively:
B2P – don’t want to pay, you still get to play
versus
P2P – don’t want to pay, you don’t get to play
At any rate, I wish anyone who wants to play ESO the very best and hope they will get lots of enjoyment out of that game. But after SWTOR (I was a C€VIP) I swore to myself never to fall for a subscription model ever again.

+9001
(would be pretty neat as all I can do is /laugh or /shrug atm)
I only hope they won’t remove the 25% movement speed from Traveler and Speed. Reason I’m worried is that for instance Monk seemed to have their original 6th effect replaced by something else entirely (10% Heal Effectiveness instead of AoE Aegis on Elite use).
Pure Longbow traits in Marksmanship:
Eagle Eye (Master)
Piercing Arrows (Master)
Remorseless (Grandmaster)
Read the Wind (Grandmaster)Other useful traits for Longbow in Marksmanship:
Spotter (Master)
Signet of the Beastmaster (Grandmaster)So, a total of 6 useful Longbow traits, but only 2 slots to put them in. Rework this or you won’t be making any progress by adding Read the Wind. 5 traits are already competing for 2 slots, now you’re adding a 6th.
On a side-note,
useful Longbow traits in Skirmishing:
Quick Draw (Master)That’s a total of 1 useful skill competing for 2 slots.
Combine Piercing Arrows and Eagle Eye, move spotter to Adept. That’s all that would be needed to fix this. Then the only difficult choice will be which GM to take, as it should be.
I fully agree with this.
You guys think read the wind is bad huh? You think rangers are godly now? Well just wait till the finalized patch notes come out.
Anet: " We thought full zerk longbow power rangers were hitting too hard, too easily from max distance with little to no associated risk, so we made an adjustment to the base arrow velocity."
Longbow – lowered base arrow velocity by 50%
Added: Read the Wind (new GM trait) – Longbow arrows fire twice their base velocity.
That’s what I’m worried about as well. Present this new GM trait and doing a stealth nerf on the base velocity at the same time. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see them ‘accidentally’ removing the 25% they added a while back (just like that ‘animation fix’ on shortbows). But this reduction of the base velocity would only be for the Ranger longbow ofcourse; not the one Warriors are using (that one will probably see a stealth buff by at least 25%).
New GM Skirmishing trait:
“Master of Roots – You will no longer get rooted when using a sword”
That trait being in skirmishing is making too much sense. Make it a GM beastmastery trait since we really like our traits being all over the place.
True, so ‘Master of Roots’ will become our new beastmastery trait. Let’s see…
“Reaching Talons – Your pets will now be able to actually hit their enemies instead of playing air-karate”
But that one will probably be listed under Nature Magic.
“Endure – Your pet will take 5% less damage from AoE”
There we go, that’s probably a worthy GM trait in ANet’s eyes.
My god, we need trait COMPRESSIONS. I’m not ok with four longbow traits.
This.
We already have a few traits for the longbow in the markmanship line.
IMHO the trait eagle eye and piercing arrows should be merged together and both moved to master trait. After the patch, the new GM trait will conflict with eagle eye or piercing arrows. Many of us know that if you play longbow you have to take both traits in order to make the weapon actually useful.
And lets be honest, merging those 2 traits would really not be op. Remove the 5% damage modifier if you want and there we go.
Merging Eagle Eye and Piercing Arrows would go a long way towards helping the sorry state our longbow is in currently. They could even remove the 5% damage modifier as you suggest and add it back to Read the Wind. Although, for a GM trait that only affects the longbow I would think an added 10% damage modifier would be better.
New GM Skirmishing trait:
“Master of Roots – You will no longer get rooted when using a sword”
The only thing I really wait from the patch is pet responsiveness fix… For the rest (ranger-wise), I don’t even expect real good surprise…
(nota: all keep in mind that they had no time to consider ranger CDI in that patch… pretty much everything have sure been in devs test servers for some time, surely… they won’t mess with it, even if they had time, to incorporate ranger CDI ideas)
they said they were gonna fix Sword AA too. They werent sure it would make it to this patch (i think it was this patch they meant), but if dodging during sword AA, Pet F2 and LB hit rate is upped. Then atleast for power builds, rangers will be in a much better spot.
Working pet would be a quantum leap in terms of “viability” across all modes and builds.
Don’t hold your breath. For all we know this will be the new GM Skirmishing trait.
“Master of Roots – You will no longer get rooted when using a sword”
Instead of flaming Anet, I’m going to say this:
The ranger was originally described as an unparallelled archer. This was later changed. Even though the definition of ranger is not about “range”, rangers should still be more professional with ranged weapons. Rangers ususually have a bow because they are woodman and they hunt. Each trait listed changes something unique to the class and more or less global too. The Read the Wind trait changes one thing on one weapon. It would be much more welcomed if it increased the speed of every projectiles, or at least the two bows.
Even more welcome would be if the trait was paired with extra fire rate and double projectile speed for both bows.
Have to agree here. At present time ‘Read the Wind’ feels very lackluster in its present state and would be more suited as an Adept trait or merged with Eagle Eye or Piercing Arrows. It would have been a lot better in my opinion if it would increase projectile speed on both Longbow and Shortbow and increased firing rate. That might have made it worthy of a GM trait.
(edited by Aveneo.2068)
‘Read the Wind’ should have been an Adept trait or merged with ‘Eagle Eye’ in my humble opinion. It is nowhere near GM level in its current state.
I seem to have missed this, but can someone give me a link where I can read up about these suggested changes? Thanks!
EDIT: Ah, found it

i can go on but ill leave it at that.
Yeah, it is best that you do. Your post was a prime example of stating a personal (biased) opinion as if it was fact with pointless ‘yeah, that doesn’t count’ arguments. Deny all you want but I have shown that this game has seen more content than some would like to admit.
But if you don’t like it, have fun playing another game.

I have to agree that the spore events (big towers with Toxic Alliance guards) seems a little strange. Personally I think these should be removed entirely.
And then for those still hunting for spores you could still have those little patches of seedlings in Kessex Hills here and there as remnants of the event. That way people can still obtain spore samples.

That you seem to be okay with paying over and over and over again to enjoy something you already bought is your problem.
You don’t pay over and over for the same thing. You pay for it to be monitored, fixed, balanced, updated and expanded.
How much permanent content has this game seen in the past two years? What is the amount of new items that were not put into the gem store? How many bug fixes, gameplay features and balance patches got rolled out and with what frequency? How long does it take to contact a representative when you have an account or in-game related issue?
There are no free rides. You’re not forced to pay anything more than the initial box price and that reflects on the quality of the game. Guild Wars 2 has the foundation to be an exceptional product but it lacks solid, constant funding and has to count on the unpredictable gem store revenue that might be sky-high one week and almost non-existent the other.
Uhm…
Fractals, new pvp map, updated WvW maps, EotM, new dungeons, new skills, new weapon/armor skins, monthly balance/content updates, ascended gear, ascended crafting, seasonal events (not permanent but recurring), new areas, guild missions. And this was just off the top of my head. Also, the game hasn’t been out for two years yet.
So far it seems that Guild Wars 2 has seen a lot of permanent content next to the temporary living story; all without you being forced to pay a monthly fee. And while some may hate the temporary nature of LS, it does give a sense of playing in a living, breathing and constantly changing gameworld.
Here’s an infographic that shows us roughly everything that was added in the first year because it seems some people are apparently choosing to ignore them.

Someone probably forgot to change the exit marker for that portal. It’s a simple thing to set up but equally simple to miss one (and that portal was probably easy to overlook)
You might wish to put this in the Game Bugs section though.
It should still work normally, but only within a city as Khisanth already mentioned. I used mine yesterday at the Dead End bar in Divinity’s Reach.
Well it’s not like hair in reality is a chunk of solid wall. Could just pretend it’s flowing around it.
Yeah .. i also had that thought when i previewed it
And also .. i would never ever rant about clipping if they just give us THAT hairstyle, that is apparently not in the game because of clipping problem
I must say that female hairstyle is amazing! A shame they never put it into the game
It seems as if there is something wrong with how these new minis render in.
When viewed from the furthest distance they look blocky and lowres and only by zooming in will the actual model render in properly.
Now I’ve only tested this with the Mini Sylvan Pup and the Mini Hazmat Suit but both have isssues where at max range they render in a lowpoly model and only transition to the real model when zooming in (and subsequently show the lowpoly model again when zooming out).
I also compared them with minis from the older seasons yet none of those seem to have these lowres rendering issues.
