Thanks Gaile, but good luck. This one is a little different compared to GW1. For this one we only have a limited amount of time to obtain an ungodly amount of specific seasonal drinks that have a chance at dropping from a specific seasonal box. As such 10k drinks feels very over the top; especially compared to the other prerequisites that just have you do something or kill something 3 times.

2500 seasonal drinks consumed would have been a lot but doable, 10000 drinks simply is not and a clear indication that ANet just wants me to forget the holiday cheer and just fork over cash for gold. And I do not intend to spend $100 of my Christmas holiday funds on gems for an online game just to get enough drinks from the TP so I can complete a collection that already cost me 3g just to unlock.

So please give the person who came up with this 10000 requirement a nice bag of salt as he does not deserve a present this year.

At first I thought the achievement was for 1000 drinks, which seemed alright given the time Wintersday is running. But I failed to see that it goes to Tier 5, which is 10k drinks!

That’s just insane! Especially when all the others have you win 3 times or beat Jormag 3 times and some items from the MF that take 50 of certain ingredients.

If I had known these shoulders would cost me either 600g or take 10 years of excessive ingame alcohol consumption I wouldn’t have bothered with this collection at all.

We wanted to do the Guild Bounty today but the bounty targets seem to be bugged since the Wintersday patch.

Poobadoo is just standing still and cannot be interacted with
Trilla Midwell also standing still and cannot be interacted with

Also seems to be a locational error as for me Poobadoo was standing in a different spot than the one reported by a guildmate who was standing several hundred meters further up and reported that he was also standing to Poobadoo.

UPDATE: After popping the bounty mission a third time (Poobadoo again) we found him once again stationary in the water. We were just about to give up when he suddenly started moving again and I could interact with him. My guildmate reported that he was in a different spot on his screen though and couldn’t be interacted with.

The ‘hide/unhide’ checkbox keeps unchecking itself whenever I change maps, use my glider or log out/in.

I would appreciate it if ANet could look into this issue.

Not sure when this started happening, but it seems to be a pretty recent issue.

Can reproduce this issue 100%:

Go to Hero Panel
Go to Miniatures
Check the checkbox to make mini appear
Glide of a small ledge
Checkbox gets unchecked automatically and stays that way

Or if you mainly plan to use your Revenant in PvE you could go lazy mode like me:

Mix of Zerker gear and Zerk+Valk trinkets. Grab a hammer and go Glint. With Fury active I’m sitting on 100% crit chance and 226% crit damage and around 19k health with mainly exotic gear, ascended trinkets and an ascended hammer.

Keep Facet of Light and Facet of Darkness on passive at all times (consume Light when low on health and anticipate an incoming mega-hit). Use passive Facet of Elements for perma-swiftness when running around and use the consume for AoE on mobs. Consume Facet of Chaos only to look cool or when you really need an awkward AoE knockback that takes too long to cast.

Rotation: do whatever you like and have fun without a care in the world as you shouldn’t run out of energy unless you really try.

id just like to say the floating crystal idea is amazing and would require little work to implement using textures that are already in game with some color changes. The ground art doesn’t bother me too much but it looks very weird now that people have been mentioning it. Like it honestly makes very little since why we have projectors built into our armor to shine on the ground also if the effect is triggering peoples migraines at least add a way to turn it off for those people. Again i do not dislike the ground art hugely i just think some one actually offered up a brilliant solution to something a lot of players do not enjoy.

Well, ANet could even offer us both options if they are willing to add something to our Hero panel or Options, as a ‘Hide/Unhide’ (or in this case a Decal/Crystal) option might be a good way to satisfy both the decal-lovers and the decal-haters. And because the floating crystals effect is already used ingame, it should not take a lot of time to implement at all with some minor retextures for the different colors.

I personally would love to have different color crystals floating near me instead of that wierd hologram. And it would make sense too as Glint is all about crystals.

Far better than the kitten we have+the model is already ingame. What we waiting for?! Yeah.. somehow i doubt it will go away anyone soon along with that sound..sometimes i really want to scream by that sound with no way to turn it off.

The only way to deactivate the ‘chiming’ would be to go into your sound options and reduce/deactivate the Player Instruments. That should mute the organ sounds; although you’d also lose the ability to hear people on their vuvuzelas (which isn’t a bad thing most of the time). :P

Did the event twice, once for North and then for West. One gave me a commendation while the other did not.

North Gate: My map succesfully protected Tarir from the Mordrem assault and I got the North Gate Commendation from a special ‘bouncy box’ at the corner of my screen.

West Gate: We were able to bring down West and East but the other lanes were not succesfull. Did not get a commendation, just the standard participation box.

So I assume that Tarir must be saved in order for you to get the commendation; not just a succesfull defense of your lane.

EDIT: Just did East Gate. We got North-East-South down but missed West just barely. No commendation, just regular ‘consolation prize’ loot.

If maps were not layered and some stuff not so ridiculously hidden, I would have nearly no concerns with HoT at all up to this point. My moaning and groaning will start again when raids are implemented.

In my personal opinion, Frogs were massively underated in the beta and smokescales way overrated. I especiall like the big frogs with the belly flop attack. The only mobs I loathe up until now are the rolling dinosaurs, not fun at all to fight them.

They did mention (on Reddit of all places) to be working on getting the HoT map completion rewards fixed though, but that was likely because they locked collection related items needed for achievements behind map completion in those regions.

Southsun and company never had map completion rewards at all prior to the release of HoT. It was never “broken”, there just weren’t any rewards for discovering everything there. I’m reasonably confident that rewards for those maps will be fixed when the HoT maps are, since they’re the same bug.

Ah, my mistake then as I never got any rewards there on characters that had 100% map completion but suddenly got it when I ran my Revenant through.

Still hope they hurry up in fixing this so I can get my rewards for my 100% characters though. At the rate I’m going through these maps I might run out of bag space with all the supposedly upcoming rewards piling up in a backlog.

You probably had 100% Tyria completion before? That’s what is causing the bug and why map rewards are not given. Same problem with HoT maps.

Mentor tag is fine, stop complaining or offering crappy ‘solutions’ like that. There is no solution needed because there is no problem with the Mentor tag. The only problem I see is individuals who spent a bit of gold on a Commander tag and feeling entitled.

I’m tired of stupid thieves talking crap in say chat that I only killed them because I’m using OP DH. And it definately isn’t the thousands of hours I have on guardian, and it’s not the fact a stupid thief decided to 1v1 a guardian.

So you killed them because you’re using guardian* and not DH? So it’s just Guardian OP to thieves? (I’m not saying this, but that’s what you last sentence kind of implies)

I think any class that they can’t kill with their oneshot macro is OP to them.

I would have preferred something less intrusive like small crystals hovering near you for whatever facets are active with each having a different color based on the facet.

Yeah, same thing happened to me. Once I got the reward for killing Mordy in under 20 minutes I saw the Exalted vendor offering the item with which I would unlock a tab.

Then the next day it was locked again.

Having to pay 100+25 tokes just to get 10 different tokes makes those 3 extra tabs pretty much useless.

Killed her twice now during the dragon fight but no achievement. Maybe the achievement was only added to the legendary version and ANet forgot to attach it to her triple champion split-up stage at the end?

The legendary ‘journey’ feels like it’s more like Korean grindfest mmo’s with its ridiculous requirements. So I took a normal journey to the trading post and got Leaf of Kudzu for 550g.

Avarya Lightbringer – female human herald with a hammer. Love the permaswiftness and permafury on demand. ~90% crit chance and ~220 crit damage is also very nice and I’m not even wearing ascended armor yet.

Meh, I’m lazy and just stay in Glint all the time while putting the hammer down like Thor. But then I’m just doing HoT events and don’t care about ‘maximizing dps’. Already I have ~100% crit chance and ~220% crit dmg; that’s good enough for me. :P

While I am very happy that I can now run around the rest of Tyria without having to turn my facets back on every few hundred meters; I was hoping for a bit more.

Like how several of our legends still don’t have underwater skills.

Bring 7-9 people and Swiftness. Calling out target on the menders (CTRL+T) also helps for your party to quickly target the mob in the sea of trash.

Location of the spawns is random, so you either get lucky or you don’t. We went after Gilded Hollow and Lady Luck smiled on us by placing all new spawns around the center area. Although Gilded Hollow seems to be a bit more compact and less vertically oriented. :P

We are also a VERY small guild (3 active members), but we had 4 people from an allied guild join in. With the 7 of us we nuked every spawn with time to spare and the end boss was a joke.

Just bring (zerker) AoE and running shoes and hope luck is on your side with the spawns.

I was wondering if ArenaNet would be willing to make a tiny change to the following Mastery abilities and include the bonus being applied when inside the guild halls as well:

• Pact Mentor: Your party now has a permanent 5% swiftness bonus in major cities and guild hall.

• Supply Line Management: …and increase your party’s swiftness bonus in cities and guild hall to 15%.

• Advanced Logistics: …and gain a greater swiftness bonus for your party in cities and guild hall.

Including the guild hall in this swiftness bonus would be very much appreciated!

Thanks Zaoda. Together with kiki’s suggestions I went to experiment with Antique Bronze, Spring Breeze and Fern.

Fern seems to match the metal parts better as it is just a tad lighter and Antique Bronze feels a bit too dark (but it might depend on the armor used).

Antique Bronze was perfect for the ‘filligree’ on my armor though. And then I used Spring Breeze for the cloth shirt.

Only issue I had was with my Dwayna’s Bracers (from GW1) as they take colors differently (especially the wings). But with Spring Leaf seemed to get it close to the energy color from the weapon.

Just confirming what others have observed. When I’m in a level 80 area like Verdant Brink I don’t see the issue. But when I’m down-leveled in one of the core Tyria areas and working on map completion the facets shut themselves off all the time.

I can confirm as well. While I was gathering Hero Points on my Herald in Verdant Brink and Auric Basin all my facets stayed on (unless I ran out of energy ofcourse).

Then I figured I’d gather some Hero Points in the Human and Sylvari starting areas and all my facets kept shutting themselves off every time my character was transitioning through areas where my level was dynamically adjusted.

I’m really hoping this will be fixed soon as I like the Herald’s facets (especially the perma-swiftness while exploring) but it is getting beyond annoying having to reactivate them every few hundred meters in every zone under level 80.

Hammer seems to be the only viable weapon at present time. The rest all feel like crap.

If anything the other weapons need a buff. Then again ANet seems more in the habit of doing kneejerk nerfs every time one of their balance devs got beaten by another class in sPvP. JP on his signet warrior getting punted by a guardian’s spirit hammer? Nerf spirit weapons! That’ll teach them!

Sounds like the old Tyrian legends came from a time of grunting cavemen.

In my opinion ANet should have left the runes as they were and simply not have them available in PvP. But once again … nerfed because of PvP.

ArenaNet fighting symptoms instead of the cause since 2012.

Has anyone found a good matching dye to use with the new Auric weapons or is regular ‘Gold Dye’ the best option?
