I’d prefer a new food rather than change an existing one because someone doesn’t like it.
New food is cool but the problem is that seaweed salad is so much better than every other power DPS food that any comparable food would similarly leave everything else in the dust.
And? A suggestion was made to have food that gives a 10% damage boost if your HP is above 90%. There’s no reason that it needs to replace seaweed salad.
…And having dozens of foods with only 1 being viable seems intuitively to be bad design? There are a lot of different high tier DPS foods but none of them even comes close to being as good seaweed salad. Sure you could introduce lots of new food at a similar power level as seaweed salad so that there are many options, but it seems easier to just move seaweed salad down to the power level of existing food.
I mean if you want to look at that suggested food specifically, it would be irrelevant because seaweed salad can easily be kept up 100% of the time, so if you ever drop below 90% health then it is worse. Although that food would be strictly better than every single other food for power DPS, it is strictly worse than seaweed salad, and so just like every other non-seaweed salad DPS food it would never be used (unless it were cheap, but that isn’t the issue).
There’s a difference between viable and optimal.
I’m almost done with Central Tyria. I just need 4 mastery points to be finished. But there is no way to get the kitten things.
I don’t have the money to buy all the cultural armors, or the resources to get all the fractal skins or ambrite weapons, etc.
I can’t get a WvW spoon to drop. Thanks for tying that to RNG.
I’m nowhere near world completion and that’s only 1 point anyway.
I did all the fractal ones already, except the dolphin one which, now that they fixed the bug that let you get it for doing darkness and then going backward out of the boss room, is impossible without a full party on Voice Chat.
I did teq and triple trouble already. Why don’t the other world bosses have mastery points with them? At the least for the shatterer and claw of jormag, since they have their own achievement sets.
I did the karka hunt in Lions arch, and the queen karka, and the skritt queen, and the diving.
I have no interest in doing LS2 over and over and over for hours on end. Can you even switch characters, or do you have to do the story once per character before you can get the achievements with them?
I can’t get the legendaries to appear on the Silverwastes. No matter how much is at tier 4, not matter that we get the vinewrath going, the legendaries never appear. Thanks for more RNG.
If the stupid silverwastes weren’t all RNG, I could be done, but instead all I can do is spend all day in the map for no results.
If you write off so many of the available MP the. Of course you’re going to have difficulty getting them.
Also, the dolphin one in FotM can be done solo. You do not need to have a group on TS to do that.
For SW, the easiest would to put up a LFG for what you need.
I tried LFG for the SW stuff. Simone joined just long enough to tell me to stop, because, rightly, no one is going to join since it’s not something that can be triggered. All you can do is go to SW event maps and hope things show up.
It’s not about triggering it. It’s about having a LFG up so people know to invite you to their map. This is one of the ways that many people got this completed.
Which comes to about two weeks of spending maybe 30 minutes of the day in order to get an ascended ring where you can choose practically all stat combos. Twice that for the backpack. And this is if you only mine the nodes and don’t do the events or dailies.
Gating also gets players to play content on the maps rather than blow through the story and be done with it.
They may establish a base camp in the next episode that has an Asura gate.

Eleven new Mastery Points? I can only find 7. I thought the max went from 163 to 170.
Regardless, what difference (OP) does it make how many Mastery Points are added? One is not required to acquire them, if one does not wish to. Options are always a good thing, would you not agree?
The max MP that could be consumed towards masteries was 169. The current LS episode only added one mastery that requires 1 MP. I’ll have to recount to see the max available MP but I’m fairly certain that players can now max all Masteries without having to touch adventures.
No. They’re harmless as they’re in the upper banner on the screen.
No cap on the rubies themselves that I am aware of.
Should be roughly 30 nodes. Not sure if they fixed the bug where if you get an extra swing on a node, it counts as a separate node.
You just need to do the /yea emote. It’s best to do it once she reaches the camp and starts her dialogue. Just keep spamming it.
I’d prefer a new food rather than change an existing one because someone doesn’t like it.
I see nothing wrong with adding more MP as it’s something a lot of players have wanted.
One thing I would like to see more burning fields. Guardian already has access to them so it’s not like it’d be a stretch for some symbols to offer that.
The range definitely needs to be toned down at least to where we can see the knights. But really anything over 1000 units is still too far imo
One potential issue with this solution is the impact on player glider attacks. I noticed the auto attack skill has a 2500 range, dealing more damage the closer you are. I haven’t unlocked any of the others just yet, but one possible explanation for the seemingly excessive range is that range values that make sense on the ground may be inconvenient in the air in practice?
Just a guess. This is too new for me to wrap my head around just yet. I at least need to unlock the new skills and play around with it more. Right now I feel like I’m at quite the disadvantage in the air and utilize stealth far more than I do offense!
Forgot about the whole thing with triangles and distance while you are in the air :/
In my head I was thinking 1000 units distance counted as if you were on the same plane. So you could be 5000 units up in the air and still be hit by a knight that is technically 5099 units away from you, but he would only be 1000 units away from your location on the ground if you were to drop suddenly. I still think 1000 is too big a number, but I had forgotten about the third dimension here so I guess a more elegant solution would work better
I think 1000 is more than fair considering a large amount of ranged attacks are at 1200. Based on my observations, the range is consistent in a 360 degree radius or however you want to call it. I personally have no issues with the existing range of the rock attack. It’s annoying but there are always to mitigate it.
I think the #4 skill was an evade too although shorter.
Edit: New skills and what they do.

Some experienced players could lead inexperienced players through the escort of wing 3. That or open up the raid to trio. This way players can get this initial boss kill and progress the raid mastery line.
Here’s the latest Dev response:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Blood-Ruby-Band/first#post6263222
stating additional stats are coming.
I saw that & am thankful to them for the quick response.
My concern remains that the rings you purchase from raid vendors are NOT unique, whereas the ones you can buy in Bloodstone Fen are.
Still wondering if this was intentional or an oversight.
That may be the next step where they just remove the unique attribute assuming it’s feasible.
Ah I see, this is about farming.
There should be a portal so you can take all your toons there to farm currency without having to do the story.
There is an item that you can purchase with 1K of the currency that let’s you permanently port characters to the map without them having to do the first two LS instances. This currency is fairly easy to obtain.
Why do you want to take your other characters to the new map yet don’t want to play them through the story?
I like playing different classes and characters but the story has zero replay value.
The two instances required to reach the new map is also 99% standing around waiting for NPCs to finish talking and occasionally walking around to press F.
The new map has zero replay value. I haven’t taken every toon to Dragon Stand as I don’t intend to play my unloved engineer there, I run it pretty much every time on one toon. I also love playing classes and characters but they don’t all need to do the same thing.
Zero replay value?
- Farm map currency for the vendor items such as a couple minis and I think there was a tonic.
- Farm the map for rubies and map currency to buy ascended trinkets with some stat combos which were previously only accessible in the raid.
- Farm the events for salvage items that give random tiered materials.
It really has no less replayability than all the other maps in the game.
Currency is easy to obtain by getting the blue orbs in the air. When you’ve gotten all of them on one IP, hop to another.
How could you reach her without using the exact same method to break the shields on the mobs earlier?
Some people cannot connect the two together.
Whilst I did eventually figure it all out on my first playthrough it did take me a while. The Bloodstone Elementals in the section before can easily have their shields drained by accident, purely because of how close they are already to the bloodstone shards, which I think is what I must have done.
You are taught to destroy the first 4 Bloodstone Shards on your way to the Elementals, and then all of a sudden, the game changes.
The only instruction comes verbally from Marjory right as you approach the first elemental. It’s dialogue that it’s easy to miss in the heat of charging into battle, or if the music is playing loud. She could do to have some repetitive dialogue to reinforce it, that’s all it should take. “Hey Poo-bah, pass the Elemental’s shield through the Bloodstone beam!”
Immensely satisfying in the Adrienne fight when the penny did finally drop though. It’s great to see more new non-skill based mechanics being utilised to make fights more interesting.
… and by the way, is Adrienne a Norn, or is she a “Norn” because they wanted a “Larger than normal Human”? Was susprised to see a Norn White Mantle.
Maybe an easy fix would be for them to flash that tip on the screen when fighting the elementals.
So let’s review:
Marauder’s – No
Magi’s – No
Zealot’s – No
Assassin’s – NoWhy?
Edit – Also, these rings are unique? Really? We can only equip one?
Other than marauders, the rest are not HoT stats. Not to say that I’m against these trinkets having all stats combos.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
The glider #5 skill helps some.
I found replayability by:
- Farming map currency for vendor rewards
- Farming map currency and rubies for ascended trinkets
- Farming events for salvage items to get mats for T7 materials
That would most likely be the safer option Ayrilana, but what if I’ve already registered my account with non-GW2 specific email address. If I create I new one dedicated solely to the game (as you’re recommending I do), will the able to then re-link to my new address once created? Can I request this from the GW2 Support Team?
I don’t know if you can. Just be careful not to use the password for your email address anywhere else. You just want to keep your email as secure as possible which having it not used for anything else tends to help.
The debate has strongly shifted since the beginning. The question was not to know if there would be story in the raid that is tied to the world lore, it was more to know if this story was mandatory to understand what happens in LS.
And the answer is NO.
The events of chapter 1 are independent and the circumstances are well explained. The main villain we are chasing in the story is not a villain from the raid. We actually did not know that this very character was in the position of leading this group.
And the final appearance only happens in the story, not the raid. Actually after the raid the question on the survival of this character was basically in the same state than after GW:EN. We only discovered he is alive yesterday.
We also discovered yesterday that things were not as smooth as we thought within a certain group of enemy. To me, raid story was as promised : a spin off of the main show. If you don’t see it you still understand the main story. If you did see it you get a bit more in touch with some character because you know where they are coming from…. this is exactly what happens in the PS when you are not sylvari and meet Carys and Tegwen or when human player were so happy to meet Riot Alice in Dry Top while I had no clue of who she was.
This is what I’ve been trying to say for months, but couldn’t until the LW content was released. Thank you.
Except that it isn’t just a little more. I experienced a similar thing when I started season 2. Because I missed the introduction of the group members, instead just having them show up out of nowhere, it completely ruined any emotional investment that I was supposed to have in them, and no, the recap and explanation didn’t help with that either.
The fact that it was done with the Destiny’s Edge members and the racial starting stories doesn’t make it a good thing either. How little you do see of them does weaken the attachment you get toward the ones that you didn’t play through with. The reason that the Priory/Vigil/Order mentors were so beloved in comparison was because we got to play through with them and because we gained a personal attachment to them.
There’s a world of difference in our levels of attachment toward a man that we personally met with and aided in their time of need, and someone that we just happened to come across afterwards.
Something that people don’t seem to be getting is that storytelling isn’t just about whether or not you understand what’s happening. It’s an emotional experience. I would have still perfectly understood the main story from just rushing through it, but stopping to talk to every character along the way, exhausting every piece of dialogue to get to know them as I did so heightened the emotional impact and sense of protectiveness toward them, and is what made the otherwise quite generic source of Orr one of the greatest experiences I’ve come across in a game so far.
Speaking of which… what did happen with the NPC interactions in Heart of Thorns? So few of the Heart of Thorns characters had anything to say outside of the main script.
What happened in the raid story had no bearing on the LS though which is different from not playing LS1. If you completely removed the raid from the game right now, the LS story would not be impacted. It can refer to that raid story as how the pact members got there, and even about the tests the enemies were doing, but it was just a side plot.
The new zone is tiny and offers no replayability once you’ve finished the achievements.
It depends on what you look for in replayability. I’m responding in case you missed these and the chance that they may interest you.
- Farm map currency for collector items (e.g. glider skills, mini, etc)
- Farm rubies & map currency for ascended trinkets that have HoT stats
- Farm events for salvage items that give random tiered mats
So let me be clear from the start: I absolutely love this new release. The new PvE map, the story, the new big enemies (freaking awesome)…
But after this eternal content drought we just got an episode of the same length of the ones in LS2 but with no achievements tied to the main quests at all. All we got is the usual achievements of the new map …. and that’s it I guess. I will be done with all of them by tomorrow probably and they already stated they want to focus on less releases, aiming for one LS release every 2 or 3 months. I’m really dissapointed with the low gameplay hours we just got, and if this is the new standard the new expansion must be really HUGE to justify this sad situation.
So where are those old achievements to make people replay the episodes doing specific (and usually difficult) stuff to get some AP and ascended loot?PS.: I’m not forgetting about Chaos Isles and Capricorn, I love those as well. I’m just talking about of a regular PvE point of view.
The bolded part is incorrect as there are achievements tied to the story missions. You may not have noticed them as Anet has listened to player feedback and made them obtainable on the first playthrough.
I’ve enjoyed most of it so far. The only suggestions would be more story content included as this release feels like the size of the specific episodes of LS2 which came with DT and SW but with a few QoL features.
You added a new fractal map and PvP map but I don’t see you being able to maintain that cadence with the LS releases based on a Reddit post yesterday that the fractal took 5-6 months to create if I remember correctly.
It’s only been one episode but it feels like we’re getting the amount of content that we got in LS2 but with releases further spread apart.
The raid story is just a side story to the living story. It’s pretty much inconsequential to the LS. The overall story starts before the raid story did if you read the journal pages on the new map.
It also helps to use an email address specifically for GW2 and nothing else. Also have a unique password to that email as well.
Most of HoT can be done solo except for half the HP’s, group events, and anything with elites/champs. This is based on the average player. More skilled players can accomplish more.
There is a hot-key for it. I understanding not knowing that if you’re not a raider, but it’s the ‘special action skill’ in your key bind options. It’s – (dash) by default.
I’ve rebound mine to middle mouse for example. Makes it much easier to use.
Ah. I’ll have to move it to a better key then. Thanks.
I would have preferred a way to hot key that new skill. I tend to end up dying quickly if I don’t have my cursor hovering over where it pops up.
Sky is Falling is done in the story instance. Read the text for the achievement to get more details.
There’s a Reversal of Fortune achievement tied to a boss outside of the story instances. Some people say it’s bugged but I’m thinking you just need to break his bar based on that I have yet to see a group manage to do that. Probably one of those ones I’ll just need to wait to end up on an empty map so I can break it myself instead of it being scaled up by dead weight which won’t use their CC.
I was in a map with a bunch of people who managed to kill his breakbar a couple of times. We never got ported up.
Then it’s likely bugged. At least the meta achievement gives you an option to skip one.

Can’t find a good one for HoT.
How could you reach her without using the exact same method to break the shields on the mobs earlier?
Some people cannot connect the two together.
Well you technically haven’t completed masteries so there being a reward track afterwards would not really help you anyways.
You can’t buy S1. After the release window, you will have to purchase the episode with gems.
I get, now, why the you guys pulled back on dungeons being profitable and didn’t want to develop for them.
The whole idea was to make fractals the ‘go-to’ for 5 man content. Fractals have all the carrots to make you want to keep doing them, they’re profitable, and (i know this is subjective) more fun.
My only thought here: If you guys would have tried to communicate the overall plan, from when you made the announcement about dungeons, up to today, you could have saved yourselves SO much flak here, and on the reddit forums. I know ANet had said this, but when they made the announcements, it wasn’t really too clear. And in the minds of the players, it was really looking like the intent was to kill a source of income for a lot of players.
I definitely think FotMs is the way to go. I enjoy them more so than dungeons, and i think the Agony system was a really nice touch to the whole thing. I think the changes made today, were just to bolster this system and make it better. But…if only you guys had found a way to tell us this, without giving it all away, so that we would be patient, and believe in your idea. >_<
They were pretty clear. Players just didn’t like it.
I predict a new map.
Would they really be good items if they were easier to get? Unless you were planning on using them, they’d have little value if they were common.
I don’t get why you play games that might cause danger to your health. Just delete it. Forget it. There is milion other games to play.
I don’t get why people drive which might cause danger to their health.. Everything has risks and there’s no reason for someone to avoid something because it may pose a risk.
Driving a car while having health problems like OP says may result in driving into a bus stop full of people, killing them and is mostly forbidden by law and if not then your common sense should tell you not to…
Also cars are real things that let you have a job, transport things and people – they make your life, job and living easier. That’s a great payoff as for the risk that is taken while driving a car.
Game get you what ? Job? Food? Help you move from one flat to another? Go and get you familiy from airport? No. There is no payoff as for risking seizure and damage it may cause

There is a huge difference between driving, perhaps to work in order to afford to feed one’s family, and a pass-time, one game among thousands.
I mean, Russian roulette is just a game with associated risks, right?
You both are going too far into the specifics of the example rather than the point I was making. I was comparing two things that have risk. Do they have the same risk? No but that doesn’t matter as it wasn’t part of the point I was making.

It’s actually the destroyers below the city that are tunneling and getting ready to strike.
