Well I don’t find any use for the boosters so please remove them as well. In fact, remove any item that can be bought from the TP.

There are players who appreciate those tomes of knowledge even if there are other ways to obtain. them.

The boosters are at least not obtainable from other sources without paying gold/gems.

But I find them useless therefore they should be removed. Unidentified dyes should be removed because you can get them from the laurel merchant and some loot bags. Transmutation charges should be removed because you can get them from map completion and/or re-rolling a character to farm the town map completion. Crafting bags should be removed because you can get the mats by playing the game.

Isn’t that the entire premise on why you don’t want ToK in the bl chests? Whether or not there are other sources doesn’t matter.

No its not the entire premise. You cannot obtain thousands of those other items easily in the game simply by playing.

Wrong. You can obtain them at a much faster rate than you can obtain ToK. Many players find ToK useful either to level up characters or for the spirit shards. They may even find them more useful than the boosters. Why are you thinking that what you find useful to you is the standard on what should and shouldn’t be among the rewards in the BL chests?

I don’t care anymore so long as any character that uses this will forever be unable to earn gifts of exploration.

You mean as long as any character can still get the gifts of exploration? That’s why I only suggest it for waypoints not for full map completion.

No. If any portion of map/world completion is automatically completed for you, the rewards should be forfeited.

Hey folks,

It’s been a while since we’ve commented on leagues, so here’s a brief update.

There’s definitely room for improvement in the league system, and it’s safe to say that it’s the team’s highest priority now that we’ve signed off on everything going in for the July release. It’s still a bit early to talk about specifics, but I do think we can talk about some of the goals we have for the changes:

  • Improve match quality
  • Make divisions more reflective of player skill
  • Make leagues feel more rewarding after you’ve placed in your appropriate division

We’re still determining the scope of the project, but I do want to be clear that it’s unlikely that these changes will be in for S4. Once we get a bit further in the dev process I’ll see if I can give an update on our thoughts/direction.

-Grouch

Please remember to also take any changes you do make into consideration when doing the achievements for the next backpack.

Players had a couple months warning that this was going to happen. There’s no need for every player to have been able to summon the vendor one last time.

That “warning” was ONE line of text buried deep inside of a 40 page long patch note.

Also, prepare to have this thread merged and buried in the WvW section in 3,2,1…

There were threads on the forums/Reddit about it as well as practically every site that covers news about GW2 mentioning it.

No, players did not have a warning. There was a message hidden in the WvW section for the description of one of the lengthiest set of patch notes. And it merely said this change would happen …eventually. It gave no date, only that it would become unobtainable at the same time the reward tracks came out of beta. There was no warning before that specific event happened.

I don’t have a problem with ANet changing the requirements so that obtaining the Gift requires active WvW instead of passive. I don’t have a problem with it being moved to a reward track (although I think that particular reward track will remain relatively anemic even after adding mystic clovers etc).

I think these changes are, ultimately, good for the game and good for WvW.

I just don’t think anyone should confuse a “warning” or “announcement” with a buried mention of a vague time in the future. ANet gave people “one last chance” to take advantage of karma buffs on karma consumables in similar situation; I’m saddened that ANet decided not to give one last chance for spending badges, too.

(I suspect, though, that it’s just more effort than they’d like to put into backtracking. I can’t blame them, even as much as I dislike their lack of communication on the topic.)

Whether there was a date mentioned or not doesn’t matter. There was a notice about it and you could’ve gone straight to the vendor and bought all of the gifts. It would’ve taken less than five minutes. If players decided that they were just going to procrastinate to the last possible minutes then that’s on them. Looks like it didn’t turn out so well.

People really should read the patch notes. Chances are if they don’t read them, they probably don’t read any other thing from Anet. Also, there’s always a thread or two on patch days that highlight key changes and such. This announcement was one of them. I remember seeing in on reddit too. Unless you think an in-game mail would have been sufficient but even some players don’t read that. Massivelop website even mentioned in in one of their articles as well as tentonhammer. Actually, practically every website mentioned it including some vloggers

Whether it was intended or not, ANet has allowed it for almost a year now with no word saying it wasn’t allowed. Can you imagine the backlash if they banned it out of nowhere? I don’t think its going away.

Almost a year? The AB loot farm didn’t pick up until a few months ago. Actually, it may have been the April update that indirectly caused it to become widespread. There being backlash is no reason not to resolve it.

Today (screen below) i got 12 clovers out of 60 1x recipes, which gives 20% chance (which is not enough for “mystic clvoer” recipe, but kinda ok for “random kitten from mystic toilet” recipe).
So, i want to call it again. Give us straight Mystic Clover recipe for mystic forge, that gives 100% (one hundred percent) chance to get Mystic Clover.
Thanks for attention.

33% is still not enough for recipe that calls “mystic clover”. 33% is exactly enough for recipe “get 4 items into the forge and get random reward from the lsit below”.

Leather farming

Another issue is that so many players use the copper fed salvage tool which has a 10% chance of salvaging that leather.

?

One of the methods of getting the leather is through salvaging. However, T6 materials are rare salvages depending on the salvage kit used. If players want more frequent T6 mats in the long run, then they need to use better kits such as masters or mystic which give a 25% an increased chance.

If I’m not mistaken, a T6 leather isn’t a rare material, but a common material, so type of the salvage tool used doesn’t matter.

This was resolved in subsequent posts. It does impact your chance at getting T6 but not at a rate high enough to bother with. Also, read the full description of salvage kits. It’s “rareR” and not “rare”.

I’d say AB. Doesn’t take forever like DS, gives good loot on it’s own, even better if you join a multi-loot. Plenty of events prior to the meta which give XP. DS does give a lot of XP BUT you have to do the whole thing otherwise it’s a waste of time cause you don’t get the end chest and I don’t exactly like running in circles in 15minutes if the map snowballs at the towers.

You get like 99% of the XP prior to the towers.

Keep in mind that that I only recommended this because they spend close to $37 a month (based on their average given). If you don’t spend that much then I wouldn’t recommend it unless you could justify it in some way.

Also don’t forget that if you plan on buying that many gems in the future, you’re technically not losing anything. Yes the ROI can be upwards to 8 months but the gold that you get every 28 days can then be converted to gems (or kept as gold) as if you had bought the gems with real life currency.

If you have ~21 minutes to spare every day, you’ll benefit more in the long run by buying extra accounts until you have 30. You’ll get over 2K gold every 28 days which comes to about 6.4K gems every 28 days. That’s roughly an $80 value.

30 accounts at say $30 each would be $900. It would take a full 11 months to break even at that rate. For a lot of people $900 is a fair amount of money to spend on a video game where it doesn’t start paying off until you have logged on every day on 30 accounts for 11 months in a row without fail.

You can still get some for about ~$20. Please notice that I said that it was better in the long term. I didn’t include that by mistake. There are also other ways to speed up the ROI considerably.

21 minutes a day is more work than I’d like to spend on a game.

The problem isn’t the first week or month or even year. It’s that over time, each time I don’t login feels (to me) as if I’m wasting money. (Plus: what happens if ANet changes the price on Heavy Crafting Bags to 2 laurels?)

So, you’re absolutely correct: for those willing to invest that much time every single day, buying a lot of accounts is a great use of their RL coin. But for those who just want to play the game… not so much.

People typically spend more than 21 minutes when they’re farming. They haven’t hanged the laurel prices yet so I see now reason to assume that they may in the future. It could happen but unlikely.

I could see 150 LI if there were a plethora of interesting and different raids to do, professions actually had good roles to build and play, difficulty settings were implemented, build savers/slots/whatever were put in…, but this 150 requirement means you have to tediously beat up these same bosses 150 times…

Which there will be other raids to do and earn LI in. Anet could have just held back legendary armor until there were 3-4 raids available so that those complaining about the “grind” for optional equipment would have less to complain about. The number is likely balanced in regards to the longterm.

Is there any reason to assume that future raids will even drop legendary insights? I’d say it’s more likely that a new raid would have a different ultimate reward altogether and that the current armor will remain tied to the forsaken thicket.

Anet does have a tendency to balance things for the long term (e.g. magnetite reward upon release), but I haven’t seen any evidence suggesting that this particular legendary armor will be obtainable in any way outside of the forsaken thicket.

Anet has stated that raids will have themed legendary armor. This was before release during one of their live streams. The insights are pretty generic so there’s no reason to assume that they’re just for this raid only. This particular armor will not be able to obtained outside of this raid due to the raid specific collection.

Yes, in another year we may have 1 more full raid according to release schedules…

The number is “balanced” only to extend the life of this 1 raid as much as possible due to lack of raid content. I’m not judging, but this is the Anet way of doing things.

It only seems that way when looking at it in the short term which is how most players tend to look. It won’t be the case as they had more raids. We very well could see the first wing of the next raid this fall. Keep in mind that many raiders have been doing this since last November. The very successful ones have already reached the 150 LI needed for all six pieces while others are well on their way.

I see no reason for there to be different difficulty choices so long as rewards are adjusted accordingly. This can be a reduction of LI/shards earned or even the removal of LI from the lower difficulty.

The lower difficulty should be used to get less skilled players the opportunity to step into the mechanics much more easily than now. It should not be a replacement for those that want the rewards but at less effort.

I’m struggling to think of a reason the raids couldn’t have a 5-man version, which a straight 50% hp reduction to everything in there.

Effectively they would be slightly tougher dps checks, but that would be so much easier to deal with in a 5-man group.

Now that I think about it I really want a 5-man version of the raids.
Without doubt finding 9 players (as opposed to finding 4) is the single biggest blocker to the content..

Having it set to 10 gives them more flexibility.

Im still wondering if someone from anet will come and give opinion on this here. While we are on it will anyone from anet actually consider kicking “selling” raids from lfg. Its getting anying as hell. Its hard enough to browse lfg even without those pricks. not just that those ppl take space there , but they are creating completely new set of players who link tonic but dont know what to do at any boss. This affects pug raiding , a lot.

Gems buys the gold that buy the runs you dont like to see on lfg.

Dont generalize your case pls…i think most of the buyers are hard core farmers or tp barons, more than people like you exhanging gems to gold.
And there is nothing wrong with that.

Its a fact that i bought thousands of UK pounds worth of gems to get the insights for this armour..But you prefer to fantasize that this gold comes from tp flipers..And its not possible to farm the gold needed for 150 insights.all i do is farm gold in this game and 100g a day dont touch the 35k gold needed for insights.as a side note the gold i had to buy got me rank 15 on gw2 efficiency

It is possible to obtain enough gold weekly to purchase an entire raid clear without converting gems to gold.

In a game were you can buy gems and convert to gold that also allows the selling of runs you do not think gem sales pay for runs?no you would rather believe that this gold is being farmed or thats its tp flipers buying runs.you do know santa is not real.
was it not intended that legendary weapons be sold on the TP?the only difference here is you cant buy this armour from third party gold selling sites.

As I said, it is possible to obtain enough gold weekly to purchase an entire raid clear without converting gems to gold.

Were did they say that ls3 were a hot feature?

Where did I claim that they did?

What I do believe is that if Anet says that I have to pay X dollars to have access to LS3, then they are saying that LS3 is paid content. I don’t care for the idea of gating paid content in this manner…

…but again, it isn’t really a big deal because a 2-3 month window of opportunity is pretty forgiving.

Wouldn’t Season 2 be considered paid content since you needed to have purchased the game to access it?

Technically, it’s inclusion in the game came looooooooooooong after release, so it’s not paid content per se. It’s paid content in the context that people who didnt play then need to pay in order to make it available. On the other side of the coin, it’s not paid content for the opposite context.

But how does one define what is long enough for it not to count? I just don’t really see the difference as you still have to purchase the core game to play S2 just as you have to purchase HoT to play S3. Not likely it really matters one way or the other.

People complain about raids taking up dev time outside of the raid team when the entire raid was done before the first wing was released. They only fine-tuned them since HoT launched. We don’t know the full status of the wings but it’s safe to say that they were likely close to being completed.

It’s simply people complaining about content that they want not being released. I’m pretty sure those same players would be complaining still had Anet done WvW updates instead. Or how about sPvP. Someone is always going to be complaining that they’re being left out. Let’s not forget how long WvW went without any dev attention.

The thing that seemed to hold up the content drought was the holidays and then them working on the April patch that nerfed a lot of things in HoT. Had none of this happened, I’m pretty sure we would have seen the Living Story sooner.

Probably dead. In the next expansion, you’ll infuse his soul into a short bow to create a legendary weapon that shoots mini Garms.

I just went from final meta to final meta. You can do TD and then head over to AB. Or you can tag all of the night bosses in VB and farm crates before heading to AB.

Gems buys the gold that buy the runs you dont like to see on lfg.

the original price for the complete package was 1600. this had a 20% reduction on it not long ago to 1280. a further 20% reduction has recently been added to it. making it 1024 at a 40% (technically) reduction of the original price.

You mean 960?

Not necessarily. It depends on what ANet meant. If they meant it was a total 40% off the base price of all 8 episodes then yes the price would be 960. However if they meant it would be a combined 40% off (eg 20% off of the 20% off price) then it would be 1024 gems.

I know how the person reached their number. I’ve just never seen Anet increase a discount by doing it multiplicatively.
