I don’t think you do. You’re treating viable and optimal as the same thing when they are not. It’s glaringly obvious when you say berserker is the only viable stat in PvE.

Well they can just drop it down to 48 insights total for 8 insights per piece. The only thing being that now the insights are tied to a weekly achievement where beating any three bosses awards a single insight. You only get credit from a boss once per week so no doing Gorseval in one instance and then having someone create another.

You now need less insights, it’s more difficult, and now you can obtain legendary armor quicker.

So I’m just wondering are the build/skills broken?

No they aren’t.

When (and even before) GW2 came out, I remember the hype about how the skills are so varied, and traits are so different that you can play GW2 any way that you want.

And it turned out that wasn’t that great a thing. When evaluated, the 600 different permutations had 300 really bad one and several thousand people had rolled those, giving them not only just a sub-optimal experience but a really, really bad one.

However, you can’t play anyway that you want.
There are some builds that just don’t work. Some traits and skills that are, quite frankly pointless.

Under the new system there aren’t builds that “just don’t work”. If they didn’t work you wouldn’t be able to create them, log in as them and play the game on them. Have you got any examples of what you mean and in which game type?

There are even some players, where all I see is the metabuild running everywhere.

And? Not sure what your point is. Players using meta builds? Surely this is a good thing? Only some players but you see them everywhere? Are you talking about guildies?

unless you run the metabuild, you don’t seem to be able to keep up, to participate as much, and be as effective.

Keep up with whom? You may not do as much damage with a non-meta build or not heal as much but you should be able to keep up by pressing the forward button. Participation is on the 1 button and effectivenes.. well that’s the definition of the meta build. The most effective one. So this is a tautology.

Well no, to me you sound confused about what the meta is and why it is. I can log in with my meta build and play the game. It’s working.

1. Yes, a lot of builds are broken – and by broken, I mean they just don’t work well enough to be viable. Builds that, logically, should be viable are not. This is coming from an experienced GW1 player that made builds of his own for years.

2. Berserker is the only viable build (outside raids) and will always be the only viable build in PvE. That shows you right there how broken the mechanics are. There are tons of different armor types, yet choosing any armor aside from Berserker gear produces sub-par results.

3. I really don’t understand how someone can defend the mechanics and say, “Oh, it isn’t broken”, when players use berserker gear and only berserker gear. If it were meant to be so, there wouldn’t be other armor options. So, both the builds and the armor system are broken, yes.

Please look up the difference between viable and optimal.

It’s never too late. It’s also debatable as to whether the expansion was a flop. Some liked it and others didn’t.

In PvE, all builds are viable with perhaps the exception being in raids. With how some people are clearing them, this may even be true for raids although it would then require a higher skill level to pull off. There’s a big difference between viable and optimal.

Well if a single LS3 release was the size of half of season 2, I’d see no issue with the size. Unfortunately, I’m thinking it’ll be smaller than that.

As far as player hype goes, Anet has little control over that. They can provide little details and players will speculate and create hype. Anet can release more details and players will still speculate and create hype. They’ll announce it when they’re ready and know for certain what will go into the final product. Otherwise they could run into a situation where they couldn’t include something and you’ll have people coming into here to complain Anet lied to them.

You don’t need additional character/bag/bank slots in order to craft. Now you may if you hoard everything else in the game but the limitation has nothing to do with crafting.

I have been going for the mystic clovers since getting karma and spirit shards is a pain while doing laurels on my alt accounts. I’m trying to craft every legendary weapon so the fewer obby/spirit shards that I need to farm, the better.

The events spawn at fixed locations depending on where it starts its run. You can have 3 or so players waiting and should be able to kill them before more players come and scale it up.

It’s pretty much because Anet buffed the amount of map currency that players could obtain during a cycle. This sped up how quickly players could get all of the items from the vendors whether it be recipes, tonics, or collection items. Now players have little reason to do the metas. Only reason AB is surviving as long is because of the farm. Kill that and AB will be like the rest.

This is one of the main reasons why I am typically against the removal of grind and why it belongs in MMO’s.

From what I can see, the guild leader can give that ability to everyone if they wished. If you feel that your guild should have it so that everyone can have mission control, talk to your guild leader.

Also remember to take into account the time spent gaining all of the account bound mats and completing the collections when deciding if you were to craft the precursors. IMO, a savings of 100G isn’t worth it compared to the time spent.

I think your reading skills need some more practice. Seriously, this kind of ridiculous straw man is what make forums so kitten aggravating so often.

Your interpretation skills need some practice. It’s not a strawman as the whole concept is around the argument that some are making that if it doesn’t hurt anyone then it is okay. Asking for the LI needed to be reduced is no different than asking for the currency needed for anything else in the game to be reduced.

The problem comes from you replying to all and not to the one or two you say you were targeting then. From what I’ve been reading that argument was not really the core of the problem for the vast majority. Yes, some did use poor argumentation but that is hardly what most have a problem with.

The trick to getting gold is to learn how to make use of all three abilities. By doing that, you’ll find there’s a great deal of wiggle room for obtaining gold.

Dragon's Stand is Awful

Not even the resetting that is the worst for Dragon’s Stand. People are so set on killing the Dragon when asked for help with HP’s, interest points, or even vistas, they are rude and selfish and only want to kill Dragon nothing else. I even had someone tell me to leave the map which is extremely rude. Arenanet has made Dragon’s Stand very hostile environment when people are trying to complete the map. Can they possibly make it so people can get the HP’s, Vistas, or even interest points between the Dragon killing event?

People are primarily there for the meta. It’s rude and selfish to want them to do anything but that.

You have a full 30 minutes to do map completion after the meta. Everything can be done solo once access has been given which is done through progressing the meta. There’s absolutely no reason you need help.

You’ll lose more distance covered overall from being in combat to proc the lower cool down time for your leap. But if they’re trying to escape the enemy, then I could see its use.

Thief is the fastest class due to them being able to maintain perma swiftness and the number of shadowsteps at their disposal.

I’d say warrior would be second due to the number of gap closers they possess depending on their weapon sets equipped.

All other classes that can maintain perma swiftness would be on equal grounds.

Likely referring to Mesmer portals and their equivalent. Part of the mechanic of that boss fight is to use the jumping mushrooms to get up to the top to stop one of the bosses from regaining HP. A portal would bypass the need to use a mushroom.

Ye its a fair amount,even fairer if you already got them and can skip the four month time gate. Oddly enough its a common opinion on this thread.trying something difficult and new can be a challenge,but does that challenge not fade with time and repetition.
when it becomes grind that challenge is long gone.and if you do it for pleasure why do the number of insights mean so much? lowering of insights would have no effect on you and your pleasure from raids,and keeping it high only effects those who do not find insights so easy to get.

So should the dungeon token requirements for dungeon armor/weapons be lowered for those that have done a dungeon X amount of times?

I think you would find more people do pvp and wvw than raid and its the armour thats exclusive to raids that angers some.then you got those 150 LI putting it further out of reach.Then you have the problem of accessibility that is only made worse by some of the people who already raid.Pvp and wvw did not divide the guild wars 2 community and raids probably didn’t ether, some raiders do.

It’s not the raiders who are create this division. It’s the people that are out to cast them as elitists and so on. It’s these people that tend to be the most toxic.

Raids are just a small bit of content created specifically for those players who want a challenge. The reward structure is designed specifically for those players as well. The 150 insights needed for six pieces of legendary armor is a fair amount.

It exists as a map for those of us who do like intricate, explorable maps. Yeah it’s tough to navigate, but to me the only real drawback is that it needs more on it. It feels dangerous, it feels like an adventure and some of the masteries involve some cool spelunking through cave systems, but it still needs more events and content in it. Too much emphasis was put on the meta.

I still get lost, but I like having a map I can fight against. It also became a lot easier when I got my Nuhoch Wallows mastery done.

(To the sentence I bolded in up there) What about those of us who are still working on the HoT LS and will need to find our way around and through TD in order to continue the story? TD should have been made accessible to everyone, not just meant for people who like these types of challenges/can actually wrap their heads around it.

It is accessible to everyone. There are quest markers which for the most part do their job. It worked well for me my first time through.

You only get them from fractals and they’re not a random drop. You get them from the daily achievements that list a specific fractal scale.

What if we help both sides ?
If we get choice of the xchange shards to li and li to shards , would all not gain ?
Example , 50 shards to 1li, 1li to 25 shards exchange. Both sides gain. Ppl who are not skilled enough for all bosses, will try more even to just gain max shards and in doing so learn more, and skilled ones can gain shards they can use for extra li. Add bonus shards to those who do all bosses weekly, or add like weekly track for it with award on end, hell they did all they deserve some ++++.
Making ppl spend shards on li will also help price of inf not go down too much that also helps pro raiders.
Would this not help all ?
Can we at least tey find solution that goes good for all ?

Players should get insights when they successfully kill a boss and not by simply failing over and over until they have enough shards. That’s the issue that I have with that.

Achievements show which you have done.

Gong into the the starting hub under the fractal level will show you the AR needed.

Record your CPU temps before you start the game and while it’s running.

You can also update the GPU drivers. Sometimes you can run into an issue where it downthrottles itself.

Settings are totally the same, even lower now.
GPU drivers updated also.

I’d take a look and see what temperature your CPU is running at. If it gets too hot, it’ll throttle down.

New events in the HoT maps. A new area is a new area…didn’t say a map. It’s new, it wasn’t there before, it has a function; it’s a new area, whether it is appreciated or not…still content. Something new added to the game.

I don’t do structured PvP, but I don’t deny the Devs have added new features/content for that mode of the game. I’m sure it pleases some players.

Everyone doesn’t have to agree, but it doesn’t make it any less factual.

Noting new added to PvP, unless you call a rebalance of classes as new content. But if you think that is worth shouting about and saying it was great, go for it.

Because it was fixed and enabled again in the Spring patch? But you’re touting it as something new, which it’s not.

Did Stronghold exist before HoT? No. Therefore it is new.

It is new as of HoT. It is NOT considered new content introduced in the Spring patch, which was your original premise.

Read my actual post. I was not talking about the spring patch. I never even referenced the spring patch.

Also, it was brought back within a week. I even remember playing in in S2 which was before the spring patch.

Stronghold is a new PvP mode and map. That’s pretty much content.

And how is that doing? Ye exactly.

This summer patch is either going to retain players or start to lose a lot. They scrapped legendary weapons to work on this and if it’s the same crap like the HoT story that only takes an hour to do people will leave. The fact that nothing has been teased or mentioned is worrying.

It doesn’t matter how well it is doing. Please read the posts before commenting next time and bringing up something that isn’t even part of my post and the one I responded to. Thanks.

The map is a mess. Full of dead ends, anything that looks close to you will inevitably be on an upper or lower level that requires coming from a completely unrelated location because only one route leads there, or necessitate knowing about some mushroom or updraft route to access the area, this route itself usually requiring heading to a seemingly completely unrelated area to get started. The minimap is rendered basically useless as there are too many overlapping levels, with too many paths that make unannounced level changes and too many routes that look to be going somewhere only to forcibly redirect due to a wall that is basically invisible on the minimap. Even the roads are almost useless, switching up and down and winding past each other such that what looked like it was the road to one place actually leads to a completely different place. The wallows help a little, but only a little as inevitably the place you need to be is between the wallows and can’t be accessed without running around to other far away points. The waypoints are too few and too far between, and many parts of the map require extensive foot travel from the nearest waypoint or wallow to reach, through often very infested grounds that can’t be safely traversed solo, not that there is any indication of this issue before you are half an hour in and just wiped and have to start all over. The whole mess is almost unnavigable without a guide or without spending unending hours memorizing the layout, completely defeating the purpose of having a map in the first place.

Absolutely, all of this.

Not that I mind the complexity, but I find it really, really irritating that the map doesn’t lend any sort of conveyance and that there are insufficient shortcuts for getting around.

And ANet’s “you can’t get there from here” design of the HoT maps is particularly evident in Tangled Depths. Again, complexity makes the map somewhat interesting, until it stops me from participating in events.

I’ll say this with every “I hate TD” thread:

ANet, the best QoL you can give for HoT maps right now is a set of custom map markers. If you can’t be bothered to have your maps display properly, then allow us in-game tools to be our own cartographers.

Play the map a bit more. With WP’s, wallows, and knowledge of how interconnected the map is, you can get to practically anywhere without much effort. There are some locations that are a little out of the way but you only really go there for map completion.

It gets very navigatable once you explore it a bit more and learn how interconnected everything is. The mini map even starts to make more sense.
