The ones against hardcore raiders and calling them “elitists” have been the ones that appear the most toxic from my point of view. I don’t see these “elitist” raiders coming into the forums making threads that disparage “casual” players. You saw the same with dungeons long ago as well. Players are entitled to have requirements in their LFG posts on who they want to group with. If others have issues with this requirement then they can simply create their own LFG with no requirements and play with like-minded players. Everyone wins.

Raids are also meant for a small subset of the playerbase that actually enjoy content that is challenging. Just because some people do not like that type of content does not mean that it should be discontinued. It’s a little selfish and seems to be on the same level as some PvE players who get upset when Anet does anything PvP or WvW related as if the entire game should revolve around their specific game mode or style of play.

It takes about 8 hours of playing in WvW to complete the reward track. I just finished it this weekend and it wasn’t as bad as I was thinking. This is without using any potions or the guild boost.

On another note, do not open the exotic chests that you get from completing the WvW dailies. Anet is planning on making it so that they give two potions instead of just the one like you get from the PvP daily exotic chests.

Dusk is one of the few precursors that is cheaper to buy. I had actually crafted it and none of the collection items for it were all that difficult or time consuming.

If you purchase the base materials using buy orders, and craft all the deldrimor steel/elonian leather yourself, it should be slightly cheaper to craft than to buy. But it’ll take you at least 90 days to craft unless you already have a stockpile of mithrillium.

For the record, I crafted dusk. I’m not sure if I saved any gold…but it was a long and tedious process. I recommend just buying it.

Whether it takes 90 days or not doesn’t dispute that it’s cheaper to craft. You can always ask guildmates if they can craft the time-gated materials for you as well. I’ve known a handful of people that have done that.

Lowest buy order is for 1,010 gold and it costs roughly 695 gold to craft. I’d say that it’s a little more than just slightly cheaper.

How does calling it 6 pieces change anything? Do you expect us to stop after 3 or 4 or 5?

Your just trying to complicate it, we want the SET, so we call it as it is.

As I said, you earn each piece individually. It’s no different than you would for the weapons, backpack, and trinkets. Skins being time-gated is nothing new. Many of the skins tied to rewards tracks are just that way.

You need to understand that raids were designed for players that wanted high challenging content. The rewards are catered to those same players as well. Adjusting the requirement down so that anyone can get the rewards without much effort, or won’t have to pay so much when they buy their runs, is wrong. Anet already panders to the lowest common denominator in the other areas of the game. There’s not reason that they should for this one.

As stated earlier several people are fine with the number and don’t meet your silly artificial labeling device.

And even more are not, are you denying the existence of the very thread you in?

Call it what you want but it sounds like you fall into the sour apples group. Although if you feel #3 or #2 are a better fit, let us know.

People sure are fixated on the 6 piece thing for the armor, anyone can divide the total by 6 to get a smaller number to try and make it sound better. Lets pretend like we want the entire set.

But most of the point of THIS topic is that this 2.7 week per piece or 4 months for set is not realistic. All 9 bosses per week is almost a pipe dream for pugs which is the vast majority of raid players.

I think the time gating is to preserve a certain price threshold for the crafter, so that after crafting the ascended gear a player needs they can make a little profit from their craft.

I would want that to be left intact, so I don’t agree with the request. I put in the time to craft what I felt I needed and now (finally) am able to make a little bit of coin for my efforts.

But if the price deflate everyone wins because the price to craft ascended items and components decreases which decreases the overall cost of crafting and building crafting up to that point in general since the materials also decrease in price as a result. The fact that you can sell the insignias but also that there is a way to easy transmute any ascended item to another set of stats without creating an ascended insignia is where you would gripe if you wanted to make money since the most cost effective option is to buy or create the cheapest insignia and then for a fraction of the cost just buy the exotic version of what you truly want.

It’s already been subverted basically. I’m pretty sure monetarily you always lose if you’re crafting ascended items for money on purpose since it takes so long and so many materials. If you just so happen to have the stuff though it’s nice coin but nothing to write home about.

The suggested change would essentially remove the profit margin. It’s the T7 mats which you craft that provide the profit. This has been common knowledge since 2013 so I don’t know why you had to bring up the insignias.

Raids were never catered to the average player.

The average raid player will only get 4-6 bosses a week. The average player that runs around farming AB events probably will never be able to kill VG.

But once again you are on a tangent, that is about as far off topic from LI time gate as you can get without talking about baseball.

You don’t see anyone else complaining about the rest of collection and how to complete it (at least they shouldn’t be) in this topic.

i am faced with pay for runs if i want legendary armour or be left behind as folk get the new best gear.I am actually angry with anet that after playing since launch i got to pay over£3000 to get gear they locked me out of.

One group seeks to maintain the value of what they got and the others with less seek to increase the value of theres.ye grind is subjective,it all depends what end of it your standing how you see it.you done your grind and dont see why others should skip any of it.im on 52 insights and il probably see it same way as you in 11 weeks.leave it as it is

When most people started raiding legendary armor was so far off that no one thought about it. If there had never been legendary armor I don’t think the number of raiders would be much less. Lots of raiders aren’t even going to get the legendary armor, at least for a long time. It’s a sizable gold investment, especially if the skin isn’t very good, and it’s almost identical to an ascended set unless it has some good utility with runes. I actually think it’s funny how much some people think that legendary armor is all that people want with raids, because it’s really just a raid skin that costs 4k+ gold.

On a related note, I’m really wondering how many players out there would actually make the armor sooner if the insight count were lowered, versus those that would still have to wait a long kitten time to farm all the gold. I think the insight count is probably too high just because the rest of the collection takes so much less time, but realistically the gold cost is probably just a difficult/grindy for a lot of people.

a highly skilled player without a static could take way longer to get his insights than a low skilled player with a static.
thats not exactly rewarding skill is it.

Like it or not, being good at social interaction is a skill in this game. Effective communication is important for any group-based content. There have been plenty of people on these forums that rage and talk all sorts of bullcrap and it’s not surprising to me at all that they are complaining about not being able to get a group, lol.

As a player with Asperger syndrome the social interaction skills sort of lock me out.

Many groups don’t require players to speak but only listen.

Saying we killed all 9 bosses and saying we can kill all 9 bosses every week are NOT the same thing.

They weren’t saying it was the same thing. Read their post again.

Most players do no have a raid guild, its pretty unlikely most have the time or the luck to get 9 kills in 1 week due to the nature of pugs. I’d estimate most will only be able to get 4-6 average.

Which is a pretty good average.

P.S Why would you bother thinking of it as 6 pieces, its exactly the same math divided by 6. Only reason you’d do it is because the smaller number sounds better, but means absolutely nothing because we want the SET.

You craft the legendary armor pieces separately. You equip the legendary armor pieces separately. It’s no different that doing the same as the backpacks and weapons. I’ll be no different than the trinkets when they’re eventually released. You’re just lumping them together into the larger number because it makes your argument sound better.

And why is that? If I’m offering a service and someone is willing to pay what I ask, then why should I be banned for doing something that is obviously not against the tos of the game and which anet has explicitly said is acceptable?

I think it more has to do with the fact that some people (myself included) are sick of the 1% rich TP flippers from being able to buy everything in the game. At times I miss games like WoW where if you had a Legendary it meant that your guild respected you and let you build one, not that you could just throw your wallet around.

I would agree with that sentiment, but attempting to block people from selling raids won’t change the fact that legendary acquisition in gw2 is almost completely a gold grind.

Not to mention that actually enforcing such a rule would likely prove quite difficult, especially since it would imply that selling other services would be against the rules as well.

And this is why I really hope that the remaining parts of the second collection require something very skill based that is done in a solo instance so people can’t get help on it. I just want something in this game that is actually skill based for once. The armor will be mostly skill based but there will be a few people who don’t deserve it that will have it after a while.

And can’t be cheesed like Liadri.

Skill is far from being the only barrier between players and legendary armour.
accessibility and those 150LI that we are disusing come to mind.
And the amount of personal skill needed is questionable.
but i gave up just at the thought of all the time i would need spend on lfg trying to get in a group and learn the mechanics with total strangers.i dont play this game to sit on lfg for hours every day.i always thought with this game it was log in and play and have fun.log in and sit on lfg for hours to find a group and probably fail,several attempts latter get a kill. and so it goes on for week after week month after month with no end in sight for 150 insights. to me these things come between me and the game i enjoy playing.

I pugged all my 126LI and I still need another 4 bosses for this week. Which I will get most likely on this weekend. Im working too and I dont see problem that you are facing. Sure I wont get kills sometimes due to time constraint, but its suppose to be a legendary journey to craft those legendary armor. It will take time and Im fine with it which Im sure many people are fine with it too. Legendary weapons and armors shouldnt be sellable or buyable in the first place. Tips that I can give is just get better in the mechanics and encounters and people will add you up in their friend list for future raids. Good luck.

you are 126 insights and are fine with it being 150.you need 24 of course your fine with it.and as for your tip. you cant claim to have puged your insights then talk about doing raids with folk on your friends list.some guys pug it every week and every week its different folk they play with,hence the struggle to make progress on the insights.as has been made clear its mostly folk who already got or are close to 150 who are fine with it.

That one hero challenge place of power in Tangled Depths where you had to swim through a tunnel under Rata Novus and climb some rocks into a secret lab. Seriously on the map it shows that it’s in some Chak Tunnels… I spent hours running around those tunnels before I had to youtube it and was like “wtf? How am I supposed to find that without youtubing it?”. Stuff like that really annoys me.

You also go there as part of the story.

Through a portal which you don’t have access to in the open world. Unless I’m mistaken and have been going there the long way.

A major problem with asking that the number of insights be lowered is its rubbing some players up the wrong way as they see a lot of profit to be made from selling runs.
some of these guys are already at or around 150 LI and what else are they going to do with all that raid experience they got but sell runs to help those less able to get there insights.They could be helping less experienced,but they wont do that with all that gold to be made.let me be clear i have no problem with players selling raids,i do take issue with the hypocrisy of some of them having the cheek to come on this thread to argue against lowering the LI needed to get legendary armour

You’re one of the ones buying the raid clears. Just because some people are selling raids doesn’t mean that everyone is doing that. Whether or not someone sells raids has no bearing on the legitimacy of their argument either.

Because it’s getting fixed.

Go to WvW at HoT release and tell me with a straight face WvW was populated. Nope! The remnants of whatever population was left confined themselves to Eternal Battlegrounds because DBL were a disaster.

The same problems existed before HoT. DBL just added onto it but that was it. So if Anet releases LS3, and many WvW players go to play that, are you going to tell me that LS3 killed WvW?

I was under the impression that only applied to ecto.

Nah. It impacts the chances of getting the next tier’s mats too.

There is a way to farm it indirectly but not many do. It was actually one of the AFK farms.

I’m on a server that isn’t linked and there’s more people playing. Besides, HoT at launch hardly did anything for WvW so you couldn’t really call it a killer. It more the lack of attention until recently that hurt it.

If your server isn’t linked, it means you have the population but mostly due to people transferring off dead servers in an attempt to find some fun in WvW. You need to look at WvW as a whole, the entire NA & EU, not just the server you are on. The fact that they are having to link servers together so people can find action in WvW means they acknowledge WvW lost a lot of players.

HoT at launch forced players to play on Desert Borderlands, that’s pretty big something, I wouldn’t call that nothing. Desert Borderland was a total mess, from map design itself, to PvE gimmicks, to broken walls/doors/keep lords, to overpowered guild upgrades and banners, and lastly forced mechanics such as oasis laser event that caused zonewide skill lag that was never, ever, fixed by the way. Imagine if Auric Basin meta caused a zone-wide 5-10 second skill lag everytime meta event starts up, would people say that’s not a big deal? lol no, there would be riot on the street.

These desert borderlands replaced alpine, so people had no choice but to play in them (that or quit, which many did). EBG, well people voiced concerns over airstrikes, invis fountains, overpowered banners, chilling fog, etc well ahead of launch but they forced everybody to play them anyways.

And not just that, but initially we had to grind pretty hardcore just to unlock elite specs. So those who jumped into WvW without elite specs unlocked were getting wtpwned left & right due to all the overpowered elite specs that came out with HoT. Broken abilities such as CoR ruled WvW for a very long time until they finally nerfed/fixed it. The T1 server I played on went from Full to High, as I watched servers across the board drop in population.

You know what Anet had to do to fix their HoT implementation for WvW? They literally had to undo 80-90% of what they added, they had to disable oasis laser event completely because they couldn’t fix the lag it created. They had to strip desert borderlands out completely and replace with alpine because people really just didn’t like them. They had to nerf banners, guild upgrades, airstrikes, pretty much everything they implemented in HoT had to be either nerfed, completely revamped, or stripped out totally.

When a company does that, it tells you even they (Anet) acknowledge they effed up bad and did their customers wrong. So while I applaud their willingness to change and fix these things, and many things did eventually get fixed and they’re at least opening dialogues with the WvW playerbase for the first time. You really shouldn’t come and act like HoT didn’t ruin WvW and other parts of the game.

I’m familiar with how WvW was as a whole. The situation had nothing to do with HoT. Not everyone didn’t like desert borderlands. The issue is that a lot of the changes they have done this year would have been nice to have been active when the expansion launched. As far as the rest, I think you’re reading a little too much into it.

It’s not more populated than pre-HoT. Only reason you are seeing more people now is because they are linking multiple servers together.

I don’t bother upgrading camps because the structures get in my way. The never ending spawns only respawn after the last mob in the wave is killed. So if you were to leave something non threatening like a mender alive, all you’d really have to worry about are mobs that naturally spawn and the vines.

I played GW1 when it released until a couple weeks after Nightfall came out. All I really did was the story missions and then stopped playing. I then rebought the trilogy and EotN back in October 2014 and have slowly been working on my HOM. I could have finished it early last year if I really wanted to but I was in no rush. Now I’m just shy of 50 points with only obby armor, zkeys, miniatures, and a couple other minor things left before I have my 50 points. I can finish most if I sat in Kamadan trading.

I personally found obtaining the initial 30 points pretty easy. There’s a lot of flexibility if that is all that you’re going for.

So instead of making arguments against a post you just just attack them with unconstructive comments such as “it’s a rant”?

I stated the obvious than went in to make the points in a fairly structured manner.
You on the other hand continue to rant for the most part.

That’s a bit of a reach to suggest that I agree with you that gates are trivial. I have absolutely no idea how you managed to make that connection.

I suggest you read what I said, it’s pretty straight forward.

Let’s try to refocus this, in 3 sentences or less explain why it’s soooo wrong to keep the time gate at 4 months or less for the average raider.

I’m not ranting. Please look up what ranting actually is. It is not someone that disagrees with you. Thanks.

Another way to stretch your money further is to invest it into multiple accounts. With 30 accounts, you can make over 2K gold every 28 days. If you spend the time to get them so they can craft T7 time-gated mats, that’s 9K gold a month. You make the money you would have spent to convert to gold in a little over a month or about 5 months depending on what you do.

How do you move it, by the way? I like having it at the top so I don’t have to scroll down to get at the salvage tools, but I thought I’d test and I couldn’t drag the slots. I didn’t look to the left where the bag tabs are, is that where you do it?

Click and drag the slot on the left panel.

Many textures have been having this issue for over a year. Usually I see them in caves such as for the guild rush in Fields of Ruin.

That’s up to the individual player to decide to whether it is worth it.

The best time is pretty much within the first hour or so after they release something very desirable in the gem store. This is where the gold→gem rate shoots up which also makes the gem→gold rate shoot up as well.
