Arkis one of the devs posted not long ago that they are making changes to loot tables for both dungeons and world bosses/events. Whether that means more rare materials, exotics, unique exotics is anyone’s guess, but they said they were trying to get it in for Halloween but it barely didn’t make the time cut. I’d expect to see it on the November content update.
Can you post a link to the actual post or thread for this? I’d like to read it
thanks!

The easy way to get gossamer scraps is to salvage 75+ white and blue armor items. For this, you only need a basic salvage kit.
Farm around Malchor’s Leap, Cursed Shore area and they’re quite easy to get. Good luck!

From my understanding. MF works out in open world (fighting mobs, mining, harvesting etc.) but not for dungeons/chests.
I have had some limited success with MF gear and in fact, I think doing more DPS/damage nets an overall better effect than having MF gear – what are your thoughts on this?
I have experimented with MF on and MF off and it seems to make only a minute difference in either case.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
Well it’s crazy when you think about it because 100 charged lodestones now cost more than a precursor and it’s only a SUB-SUB COMPONENT lol!
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
I have a few of these…. perhaps it has a purpose not yet known to us?
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
Zeki I think you’ve missed the point entirely. No one wants it to be ‘easy’ – they just want it not to be a random occurance. This is the main issue.
Have it based upon fun, have it based upon skill, have it based upon gameplay, have it based upon ANYTHING that’s relevant to the game other than RNG. And you have the answer that solves the problem.
Not one person has asked for the precursors to be easily obtainable. Not one. Just make it meaningful in a way that can be achieved in some absolute definite fashion. That’s all people are really asking for (and really that’s not asking for too much… or is it? hahaha
).
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
I really can’t comprehend the implementation of precursors.
Anet by their own admission have stated that they didn’t want the game to be a grind – they wanted their player base to enjoy GW2 as much as possible.
Yet they have introduced a fair amount of RNG which is basically supporting grind-based play via the mystic forge.
All they need to do is set up the precursors to be obtained in a way that’s fun or based upon skilled gameplay (or even the amount of time spent in-game). That’s all that the community wants. No one ever asked for any easy hand-outs and that’s not what this discussion is about. People just want to be able to put hard work in and get a result.
No one wants to grind. That’s a fact. Yes you can farm for your mats and in a way that could be classified as grinding, but when you end up with nothing from all your efforts it’s not exactly fun or encouraging. It’s the opposite.
Controlling the economy is one thing but it really shouldn’t be at the detriment of the players. The should remind themselves of the philosophy and ideologies that they used to create this very game we love.
We’re not asking for ‘free’ precursors. I would be happy to put in 1000+ hours IF IT MEANT I GOT WHAT I WANTED IN THE END (and so far I have dedicated over 850+ hours into GW2. Of course no one made me do that – it’s my own choice to play…. I just hope one day the devs will understand and try to reconnect with us.

Another important note is that the cores must be of the same type.
So for instance: 2 Molten Cores + 1 Crystal + 1 Elonian Wine + 1 Crystalline Dust = 1 Molten Lodestone
Mismatching cores will not work. Finally, you can use the Mystic Forge to create them.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
You get 2 gifts of exploration on 100% map completion per character. So if you used those 2 up – then you will need to do 100% map completion on an alt to get more.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
….throw them at your enemies in WvW

I love the chest loot table for MK – it makes the hard to reach, unobtainable items for regular players – available to everyone.
I haven’t gotten a single skin yet but the mere fact that some of those around me are getting them is encouraging enough.
Just enjoy the process and be less outcome orientated.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
I think it’s a little inconsiderate to put it in that way because you can’t possibly SEE where you’re going if other player models are occupying your space (Norn, Charr or any other player model for that matter).
You lose sense of your spatial distance from objects and your awareness shifts (not to mention your focus is also slightly off) at best, you’re just ‘feeling it out’ which is more based upon intuition and guesswork than actual ‘skills’.
However, if you can do the mad king’s clock tower blindfolded than you have my respect and admiration hahaha
To better implement a timed jumping puzzle of this nature – it would have been awesome if they included a ‘hide other player models’ option for the mad king’s tower (this is just an idea)
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
The way to fix that Snow is by limiting the amount of times it could happen for that character by a finite number (as suggested) or alternatively, it could just be dropped as Soulbound On Acquire.
I’m sure no one would complain about that
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
after a week of hard work (grind) i decide to give a go !!
Shortbows
Rare – 500+
Exotic – 32
The Lover – 1I got lover on my 10-15th craft of rares but i crafted at the end all of em but thats it only 1 precursor, i used evrything, u can see on SS all buffs i have, no idea is it worthy (MF) or not but at the end i came to my goal…..
Amazing
thanks for your contribution.
I have only been keeping track of my results post-halloween patches… and so far:
Mystic Forge Combines:
4 lvl 80 Greatswords (rare) x 24 combines
RESULTS
= 6 exotics (carrion tribal greatsword of rage x 2, berserker’s pearl broadsword, naga fang, skybringer, traveler’s orian longsword of rage)
= 18 rares (valkyrie krait slayer, berserker’s greatsword of hobbling x 2, cleric’s krait slayer x 2, rampagers krait slayer, carrion flame greatsword of air, cleric’s greatsword of venom x3, cleric’s greatsword of debility, rampagers greatsword of grawlslaying, berserker’s greatsword of air, traveler’s aureate highlander sword of air, rampagers greatsword of ice x2, carrion verdant greatsword of air)
4 Exo lvl 80 GS = Shaman’s Etched Avenger of Rage
And interestingly 3 x (exotic) lvl 80 GS + 1 Mystic Stone = Shaman’s etched pistol (exo) which is totally unrelated to GS hahaha
I will keep a running update as time goes on.

I think it’s great they made this more accessible for those that aren’t hardcore players and aren’t mega rich gold hoarders.
Everyone deserves a fair chance at looking awesome
they made the right choice – as this is a time-limited event anyway.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
IMO the potential fix to this problem is super simple.
Here is my suggestion;
If a player has worked hard enough; in this case by the amount of legendary sub components they have (make it all 3 except the precursor) then they should have the highest chance for a precursor to world/chest drop for them whilst playing the game. With 0 MF required. Of course there may be times when the wrong precursor would drop – which the user could then just TP or trade to get their required legendary precursor. The amount of times this could happen per character should be limited by a finite number to avoid oversaturation.
This eliminates 99% of the frustrations and also gives incentive for working towards your legendary weapon and sub-components. Problem solved with 0 RNG needed and achieved in a way that’s natural and fun for everyone.
Can this system be implemented devs?
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
I can state that I have 77 clovers and used the 1x recipe for most of it.
The success rate of clovers using the 1x recipe in my experience has been 30-35%
The success rate of clovers using the 10x recipe is really poor so I avoided that like the plague (it stung me every time – so I have no data on the success rate of the 10x)
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
LOL I can totally relate man. The very first time I got to the top I was so excited that I fell off the stairs hahaha good times!
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
I can vouch for this that it does happen but I have no screenshot to back up this claim (I ran with a guy in the MK dungeon and he got the Deathly Shoulders from a ToT bag)
I think you can get it from any ToT bag, anywhere – the chances of actually getting halloween skins though are super slim.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
The drop rate on exotics in this dungeon seems about right. Maybe 10-20 runs for 1 exotic so I don’t think it’s a bug.
Some ppl do get lucky – but for the most part it averages out.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
Hey devs,
I’ve been reading a fair few threads that are mostly negative feedback regarding the Halloween events and everything you guys have prepared for us up until now.
I have not read many positive posts about all the efforts you have made for us, to enjoy (mostly free of charge
on this special occasion.
So this thread has been created to express my personal gratitude and to instigate others to post positive comments regarding their positive experiences with all the halloween events.
Personally, I have found it all to be extremely fun and I would like to take my hat off to everyone that played a part in making this happen for us. You all deserve more praise.
Bravo Anet – Bravo! To everyone that’s reading… what has been your most memorable moments? Mine personally is the jumping puzzle and also the farming opportunities with the newest suprise. What’s yours?
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
This idea is good. I think 180 tokens is probably a bit high. 120 sounds better because even @ 120 tokens. That’s 2 complete dungeon runs to get 1 lodestone.
Meaning if you needed say 100 lodestones, it would take 200 dungeon runs… which is still going to still take a considerable amount of time. But still quite fair when you consider the drop rate on them.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
Tarnished Coast usually has uncontested balthazar instances but today I haven’t seen it uncontested (maybe due to the halloween stuff)
You should come to Tarnished Coast if you can… the wait won’t be too long. I bought all my shards a few days ago on TC.

Recently.1043 > If you have been paying attention to the amount of precursors that are available now you would know that I’m not ‘full of crap’ as there are much more available now after the patches. Also I have been playing with some friends who have found precursor drops so I’m pretty certain that both world drops + mystic forge rewards have been beefed up.
Also, Anet have alluded to the mystic forge being updated to more award more appropriately… see the update notes yourself if you don’t believe me.
Just because you don’t personally believe me doesn’t mean ’I’m full of crap’… we are, after all on a discussion forum. Everyone has a right to an opinion. So respect mine.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
Crafting was much more lucrative back in the days… before everyone started hitting 400 master level – now, because there is so much competition the margins are getting a lot tighter so you need to think in more creative ways, how to become most profitable.
Find where the demand is and create for that particular market. But work out your production cost + margin and factor in risk and you should be doing alright.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
Congrats dude – I have seen you farming in game and I know exactly how hard it is to put a legendary together (let alone 2!).
BTW are you going for any of the other legendaries as well?
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
It’s fun being able to farm your own materials as it adds to the personal sense of achievement.
Of course people can use real life money to convert to gems to convert to gold and then buy almost everything that’s needed for the ingrediants but that doesn’t give you the same sense of accomplishment, would it now? Yes you do end up with the same result… but the feeling of earning it is part of the overall satisfaction (this is just an example – as there are many ways to make gold in the game)
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
Greatswords do look cool but something else to consider atm is this:
Forging and equipping a Twilight or Sunrise alone does not unlock the equipping a legendary achievement… only the Eternity will unlock the achievement… so although the swords look cool… anyone who is chasing them has to work twice as hard to unlock the same achievement as any other legendary.
I’m not sure if this is a bug or not.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
That looks pretty cool – congrats!
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
I’m almost 100% positive that the world drop rates on precursors are now at a respectable level and the mystic forge has been beefed up a bit with better precursor award rates…
IMO they have silently fixed this ‘problem’ without letting too much information out. Please be patient guys as the prices should start falling soon. I would put money on it!
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
The only ‘fast’ way of acquiring lodestones is through buying them which is pretty unfortunate.
I also disagree with the whole diminishing returns set up because if someone wants to put in 13+ hours of gameplay + farming why should they be punished for their hard effort?
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
This is true. There are some exotics that should be classified as legendaries… and some legendaries that could be classed as exotics. LOL
I guess it’s just a case of different strokes for different folks.
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
The thing I’ve noticed is that the precursor’s are popping up much more commonly now that the new updates to the mystic forge has occurred.
My thinking is that the prices are going to be slowly dropping now and hopefully within the next month or so they may hover around the 200 Gold mark. One can only hope.
In the mean time my question is this, have you got ALL the other necessary components for your legendary yet? If not, then I would not even begin to worry about the precursor because you have a heck of a lot of work to do before it even makes a difference….
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
I am on the same page as you with these.
Currently I’ve heard them dropping from high level Sparks in Malchor’s Leap and Cursed Shore areas… but after farming many of those mobs the drop rates on charged lodestones are VERY VERY small (maybe 1 in 100-200?)
They can also be found in Crucible of Eternity’s dungeon as well… so you may also want to check there (I have found only Charged core’s in CoE so far… but have had team mates confirm that charged lodestones do drop in CoE) your mileage may vary.
If anyone has any input on this topic, please chime in… as I’d like to farm for my own mats instead of buying them also. Ty
