If one of the variables that may have caused the lag was the inclusion of these new servers to help WvW.
Perhaps identify if those new servers were an ideal choice (probably not given the lag experienced) to handle the burst data and load. Perhaps the cache isn’t keeping up and the rubber banding is just due to the cache catching up?

Our ISP’s are not to blame because the lag is experienced globally and is not localised. Everyone is experiencing the same lag / rubber band spikes regardless of their ISP.

You could try temporarily reducing the amount of allowed players on the map to see if the lag improves… however I have a feeling that won’t make much of a difference because it rubber bands without large groups on the map (even without the large fights although large groups do seem to cause it)
Suggestion: why not increase the server capacity size? Example: if 1 server have 1000 capacity size: why not increase it to 2000? just example
Because that would encourage more blobbing which is currently ruining the WvW game mode in general.
Less lag is a more enjoyable gaming experience, not more

Super laggy today. I also have noticed massive rubber-banding/lag spikes since the airplane update…

This confused me quite a bit yesterday until we figured it out an excellent tweak/change.

Skill lag, rubber-banding, etc.
A: Skill lag/delay of 4+ seconds from activation time. Rubber banding. Slow movement speed. Server disconnects during large scale fights.

Q: Has there ever been a time when you or a friend are experiencing lag, while others in your party are not?
A: No, the lag is map wide and universal to everyone.
Q: Do you experience the lag at very specific times?
For example, when 1 zerg is facing another zerg.
If so, can you estimate how many players are in each zerg?
A: The lag is noticeable as soon as any large enemy force enters the map (estimate about 50+ people) the lag is felt all over the map even if the enemy is not directly engaging us. The skill delay also happens during combat and is especially noticeable during large scale combat 40+ vs 40+.

What happens when you outnumber your opponent 3 to 1 and still stay together as a blob (and sometimes drop siege on top of that?)
Do you personally ask your guilds to break off and allow an even exchange or continue on as one blob?
I never actually see that happen in T1 at all (groups splitting off)
In terms of defending a structure I think anything goes.
When it comes to guilded fights though I think it would be fair to apply some consideration to the numbers in the fight before stepping in.

Given the circumstances – you guys have done alright so far.
I’m still seeing BG players on the field so all is not lost it’s good to see some dedicated players not giving up and still having fun. That’s what it’s all about.

Anet already has a massive list of great ideas for the commander tag from the last CDI thread which is probably more than a year old now.
All ideas were acknowledged and noted. Instead of implementing any useful ideas of any kind. The only thing they’ve done to the commander tag since then is make it visible to commanders on their own screens. This change by the way, is about as useful as a poke in the eye.
Gives you a bit of insight into their priority structure of WvW. Since it does not actually generate income/gems it’s basically bottom of the barrel to them.
I encourage Anet to create WvW specific gem store items even if it’s aesthetics only to allow them more resources to devote into enhancing the only aspect in the game that most people enjoy – WvW.
I’m happy to support WvW items and to help them generate additional income if it meant that my time spent in WvW would be even slightly enhanced.
Commander tag changes – please show us a sign that you actually care and just implement one thing from the old CDI thread. Just one thing, Anet.

I wouldn’t count BG out. They are known to be able to pull out the stops here and there.
I have also heard that they’ve been having TS problems and it has been causing issues with them being able to rally the forces.
Would be interesting to see what happens with BG when season 2 starts.

Why complain about retal when there are very easy counters to it?
Boon strips and conversions. Retal = gone.
Instead of complaining – work with the ready available counters in the game. That’s what they’re there for.
This is just silly. There are FAR more ways to produce a light field and then blast than there are boon strips. It’s harder to NOT get retal in a large group than it is to get it (not exaggerating).
That only produces AoE retal.
Easy counter – positioning. If you’re not in the combo field you won’t get hit by AoE retal.

A fair assessment of TC is that we have great NA coverage but our coverage during SEA/Oceanic is a bit low at times.
If you’re a SEA/Oceanic player/guild that’s looking to transfer to a competitive WvW server that is constantly growing and expanding (likely to Tier 1 in the near future) please consider TC as a possible new home.

With the latest update – the commander tag is completely disrupting my FOV now. It never used to display above my head when I was tagged up and now it is and it’s constantly blocking my vision and disrupting my focus.
It’s completely irritating and there should be a setting which allows us to ‘hide personal commander tag’ or something to turn it off.
Who here agrees with me?

It’s not that we’re zerging. We’re just having fun open field.
After wiping a few times though anyone’s bound to stop playing. It’s just human nature. You will see it in all the fairweathers. Only the hardcore players with the never say die attitude remain in the fight.
TC is well known for this attitude and we have thickened skin due to fighting the T1 servers.
This is a war of attrition. With that said – this week is not yet over so don’t give up – there are still plenty of good fights to be had

I dunno what everyone’s complaining about. This is the closest match up TC has had in a long time. We all appreciate good fights and we’re happy that FA are now new and improved.
Close match ups are fun. Full scale blow outs are boring.

It will come down to who has the most numbers/coverage making it unbalanced.

It shouldn’t in theory, because they remain Legendary even when transmuting onto exotics. But like Drede said, I doubt anyone has been brave enough to try it.
Is this confirmed? as I was about to transmute my legendary to an exotic weapon stats to be closer to what I need.
Does it remain a legendary or would it be an ‘exotic’ after I do this?

As always a fun reset on TC BL. I really enjoy Tier 2 as the fights are super fun and all servers bring the pain. Commendable efforts on all fronts.

Also, the latest WvW update was pretty good overall. I just wish it would reward defensive play a little bit more (as in for people that do the smaller but equally important jobs like Sentry work, Dolyak escorting etc. etc.)

FA and TC just had a battle worthy of a keep fight @ Redvale on FABL. Epic fight, well fought FA!
That was easily the most epic camp fight I’ve ever been in for WvW hands down – both sides (FA & TC) really brought the fight and it was an intense battle. Very fun action!

Ever since those recent major patches/changes to culling – I have noticed that commander icons get ‘culled’ out within a very short distance. The only way to keep track of the commander properly is via the mini map.
I was wondering, with the new update that’s due to happen on the 26th, if this issue will be addressed and rectified? Habib, would you be able to answer this one please?

That was honestly the most epic battle for any tower I’ve ever been in @ Cliffside on TC BL earlier today good fights all around. You guys did well.

Whats you source that culling removal is confirmed? There is no way they can fix culling imo. FPS drops in big fights even with culling. I think they will remove culling and the result will be a slide show which will force culling to be put back on and anet to admit they cant fix it and will instead “work on improving the current system”.
Regarding the culling question:
“Habib Loew: Let’s start with how excited we are to get this patch out. We are really psyched to deliver this content to player and especially the WvW community. So there are two main priorities with this patch: the first is to eliminate Culling, the second is to add in WvW progression for players. The progression allows us to let players feel a sense of advancement past level 80. Also we want to give players some achievements beyond just regular character advancement.”
Habib works in the WvW department and he specifically stated that they’ll be eliminating culling with the march patch.
