I hope that AoE healing ‘fix’ was a typo. It makes no sense to heal NPC and minion’s over your players in combat.

ULTD and GODS coordinated forces took Bay after a hard fought battle extending over about an hour 1/2 to 2 hours. Was amazingly fun.

That battle @ the Bay was epic! The most intense showdown I’ve experienced all week.

I tip my hat off to you guys we didn’t just ‘give you the Bay’ we fought hard until the very end. Loved every minute of that fight.

It’s the new make-over kit and hair style kit they just released into the gem store.

People are re-customising their characters & alts to fit the equipment that they like the best. This is natural.

Also, some people are stocking up on gems in preparation for the next event (Wintersday) where the release of new items into the gem store will be a likely occurrence.

With these two points above – gem conversion prices are going nuts. I expect it won’t be until after the Wintersday event is over that the prices will gradually decline.

No, obsidian shards are the reason why you need 1mil karma for a legendary.
Gift of mastery and fortune should each require 250 shards each, though with the rng of mystic clovers – You could get kittened like me.

Ive spent 900k karma on my 77 clovers, not to mention the amount of gold for the ectos. Ruined my easy progress on other mats, but oh well.

What I’m trying to say is that without the mystic clovers you’d only need around 525K karma for the legendary. So yes, they’re the reason why you need around 1 million karma for a legendary.

I would love for Anet to make some of those items available for trade – just for laughs :p

Also i think Sunrise has no footprint where as Twilight does, both being greatswords. Hell he happy it at least has some effect. Meteorlogicus doesn’t really do squat. Face it, if it isn’t a staff or greatsword, it got screwed.

No Sunrise definately leaves footprints. It’s Eternity that doesn’t leave footprints….

I have a feeling that it’s a bug because the game ‘knows’ that Twilight and Sunrise are legendary weapons and the achievement is for ‘equipping a legendary weapon’ so surely equipping either should unlock the achievement!?

Anet – please fix that.

The fix to this is very simple. Anet should allow anyone in the game to be able to ‘right click’ on any commander icon and choose “hide commander icon”.

In this way, people can clear off the commander icon(s) on their own mini map should they choose to.

This would also serve as a dual purpose because if there are multiple commander icons on map and you wish to follow a particular commander this feature would facilitate that purpose too (very handy in wvw when there are multiple commanders on map).

Please implement this feature Anet – it would make everyone happy

I feel your pain OP. I really do. I’ve run level 10 – 9 times just for a shot at the ring and still no luck. Some people do indeed (almost) seem to get rings on most of the daily runs they do and some people never seem to get it at all no matter how many runs they do.

The RNG mechanic is eye opening for fractals and I’m pretty sure they’ll fix it soon.

It sounds like the OP is only concerned with protecting the price of Ori so he can make more money selling it.

Lower prices are good for everyone IMO and it doesn’t need to be changed at all. If anything they should introduce Rich Ori nodes in CS and Orr!

There’s an item in game already that can do this.

Open up the trading post and search for “Name Change Contract”

There is of course none that’s currently for sale because the demand would be quite high for this item – but you can always put in a buy order and wait and see? Not to sure where exactly they come from though.

They should put this up in the gem store because this item would sell like hot cakes. Anet are you listening? I’m giving you a money making idea here (I also accept kickbacks/royalties too) hahaha

I have a feeling what was meant by the loot scaling feature was the quality of certain types of ascended materials (and in the higher levels fractal weapons)

For instance in the lower levels of fractals you come across Vials Of Condensed Mists Essence… later on it’s Globs Of Condensed Mists Essence… then it’s Shards and so on and so forth.

I don’t know if they meant that the loot would get better in regards to other rarity tiers such as rares or exotics. Although one would hope that they are included as it makes more sense to have the loot progress in those areas also.

This is a genuine problem that will be rectified by Anet. Chris has already admitted that the implementation was less than ideal so I’m sure that they’re working on a fix for it as we speak.

There was a lesson they learnt with releasing the fractals dungeon and I hope they keep it in mind for future content (make the content accessible for everyone and don’t limit it to a random occurrence of luck/chance) If they can manage to do that then the fun factor will increase for everyone.

They are indeed account bound so you are unable to sell them on the trading post. Unfortunately they are also soul bound on use; so once equiped on a character it can’t be given to an alt.

In regards to your questions.

1) You are able to get multiple rings of the same type – although you won’t be able to equip multiple rings of the exact same type due to them being “unique” – to clarify you won’t be able to equip 2 x Red Ring Of Death on the same character but you’re able to equip a different unique ring instead. I hope this makes sense.

2) The Ascended rings are account bound as far as I know so that won’t be an issue. If someone would like to confirm that they remain Account bound after equip that would be nice as I don’t even have one Ascended ring yet so I can’t confirm this.

To the OP – what’s going to happen when you get your Ascended gear through regular drops/crafting… doing things you’d normally do in game anyway – will this still be the issue you think it is at that point or not really?

I agree with a lot of points raised in this thread.

First of all, let me go on record to state that I do like to farm and I don’t consider it a grind one bit. The reason why this is so is because I’ve been raised with the belief that if you want something bad enough in life – you better be willing to work your butt off for it to make it happen for yourself. In games of this nature, this is no exception.

Without people to farm there wouldn’t be as much resources available on the TP. With strong demand for various types of resources – without the farmers, where do you think the prices would be? Yep, they’d be pretty sky high!
Now let’s consider that point for a moment.

If prices are high what does that force the players to do?
It forces them to make more gold and in some cases it will cause people to actually buy gold. This isn’t the ideal scenario and my point is that this game needs farmers.

This is one of the core reasons why Anet should remove DR entirely because it harms everyone. The casual players, hardcore players and even the farmers. If the idea behind DR was to put a hamper on the bots – then I feel that it’s no longer necessary because there is now very minimal botting going on thanks to Anet’s proactive initiative (as well as the players who help report bots)

Imagine GW2 without DR. What would happen then? Well I believe that the game would be more fun for everyone. The casual players can slowly work towards their goals. The hardcore players can quickly work towards their goals. The farmers can help out the economy by introducing more resources into the game (the net effect is the prices would be lower for everyone)
Rewards would feel encouraging and it would please more people to play the game as they normally would – without even having to farm.

So in summary Anet if you’re listening – please remove DR from the game. It really has no place in GW2 where the game should be more about enjoying ones time spent in-game and not so much about having to log off / zone out / wait for DR to reset before we can resume play. DR hurts legitimate players for no good reason.

I’m quite excited to see how they will implement this new system. I really do hope and pray that the journey will be as epic as the outcome

It’s still going to be a fair while before it’s ready but that’s ok. Good work takes time and I would rather they take their time with it and make it right, than rush it and make it worse than it already is. Very exciting stuff. It would be cool if they could wrap some lore around the hunt and immerse us in an epic quest.

I have a feeling it’s being worked on at the moment. Give it a bit more time guys they are well aware of this issue and the fix will be out soon (one can hope)

Unless you’re running MF , the likelihood of getting rare loots are rather slim in time vs. reward situation. even if you would have ran MF, this would merely appear as counterproductive as you’re providing less for your team. Most of the goodies you get are straight from the stage chests; this includes the fotm weapon skins from daily chests on lv 20+.

Is this your opinion or are you stating this as fact? because if it’s the latter I would say that you’re incorrect as I just did a FotM run that didn’t even last 40 minutes and I got 4 rare items – 2 cores and some decent vendor trash items + mats. If I spend the same amount of time @ CS or Orr at the moment I would not yeild that much (although there was a time when it was close). So my experience with FotM tells me otherwise.

That’s quite a big generalization – many people farm fractals for gold. Myself included.

I agree. It’s really not as bad as everyone else makes it out to be. The AMA covered many points that people were concerned about with regards to the general direction of the game.

I have faith that Anet will do the right thing by most of the player-base. I have a good feeling about where the game will be in 6 months time so let’s wait it out and see what actually happens.

Even though they are the same type of weapon (Greatsword) they have a different level of demand.

Twilight seems to be the more popular of the two – and it’s also got twinkly stars as one of the particle effects which is pretty cool

The reason why this is happening is because lots of people were only ever in Orr / Cursed Shore solely to farm (especially the hardcore farmers that I used to see every single day).

FotM is a better place to farm at the moment – hence why you’re seeing this. It’s not a suprise to me at all really. It’s a brand new area of the game. Things will likely return back to normal once people are bored with Fotm.

Well I have read that with the Lost Shores update. 400 new items were added to the game…

So I highly doubt all rings have been found yet. There’s more to come I bet

I had 2 consecutive people in my party disconnect yesterday.

Went to fractal 1 – mid way through 1 player disconnects. So our team decides to 4 man it. More progress and another one disconnects.

Please fix this issue Anet. I really love the FotM dungeon but this is a serious matter and must be rectified ASAP. I trust that you will do the right thing.

I understand what you mean because I play quite a bit of WvW myself so I know this is a challenge that many commanders face (sometimes commanders will also turn off their commander tag just to minimise confusion) which I feel should never be necessary (and the addition of colour coding will help eliminate that entirely)

The reason why I don’t think the ‘role’ part is necessary is because commander’s may need to frequently switch up roles on-the-fly and in which case the role tag will then cause further confusion (and more time wasted in some instances)

The idea behind commander’s being able to assign their own colours is something I’ve thought about for a very long time and it would be extremely useful – probably one of the most useful tweaks that they could implement to improve WvW for everyone who plays it.

I really hope they get on board with this idea because it certainly would not be hard to implement and it would make the commander tag much more versatile – a game changer really.

As absurd as it may sound – those that used to farm Cursed Shore hardcore will know exactly what I mean. Try it first and tell me how it went for you.

I really agree with you guys. The voice acting in the whole game feels a bit lacklustre.

The tonality, expressions, vocal range and even emotions within the voice acting sounds so artificial and unbelievable. It doesn’t even feel as if the characters mean what they say…. and that they’re just reading from a script. This is maintained through out the whole game and not limited only to the cut scenes.

I honestly feel as if I could do a better job and I’m not a voice actor lol

To the people that are experiencing bad loot.

Have you tried farming whilst in a full party? Try this method to see if it helps with your loot (don’t wear MF whilst doing so).

Then after a sufficient break to reset the DR. Try farming in a group WITH as much MF as you can. Please report back after that and let me know how you went. Thanks!

I like the idea of being able to assign different colours for commander tags but I don’t feel the “role” part is very necessary.

The colour differentiation will help other players better organise on the map though and this is a very good thing as it helps cut out confusion.

No they don’t expire (except for maybe the day when GW2 expires then yes in that instance only)

By “faction” are you referring to Orders?

Because if so, all it really comes down to for which Order to join (in my opinion) is if you like the armor of a certain Order then join that particular Order.

On my guardian character – I went with the Vigil because I love Vigil armor. That’s all there is to it really.

It’s alright guys – take your time with it because the journey should feel every bit as epic as the outcome. Racing to get your legendary finished will leave you burnt out and probably will make you want to quit before you’ve finished it (I know this is a bit of a generalization but in the beginning this almost happened to me until I decided to slow down a bit)

I started off with the Gift Of Fortune because I wanted to get the RNG aspect of the clovers out of the way… and boy was I in for a nasty suprise hahaha I was extremely relieved when that part was over and I could begin working on the other sub-components. The Gift Of Might & Magic was a lot cheaper to make back then because there wasn’t a lot of recipes that required T6 materials (thank goodness – because if I had of done the Gifts of Might & Magic now the price would be much more expensive so in hind sight that was the right decision)

If you have enough bank space – to make things less tedious you can work on sub sub components in smaller stages and this is also something that I did too. Daily continual progress will see you reach your destination. Persevere and the victory will feel sweet in the end. Good luck!

If they did that then after doing a dungeon you might make it 1/3 of the way through and have full bags – with no access to a merchant (and the average gamer can only salvage so much before you’d actually have to destroy loot) unless you’ve unlocked heaps of extra bag/box slots + have 20 slot bags/boxes all around it’s not very practical to have everything drop loot.

Another point to consider is that it would screw up the economy as well through inflation – which means they’d have to add in more gold sinks to control the economy (which would then negate any benefit of doing it in the first place).

I’m happy that every enemy/mob doesn’t drop loot although I do think they need to look into the possibility that the current loot tables / drop rates haven’t been screwed up since their last patch for open world loot (and I’m pretty sure something is up)

Instanced loot (dungeons / wvw etc.) seems to have been vastly improved.
Open world loot seems to have gone backwards in terms of quality and quantity (since the lost shores patch).

The auto-run bug thing is highly annoying as well as the slight delay in picking up the crystals.

It almost feels like lag but it’s definately 100% bugs.

This is true except he was talking specifically about the Gift Of Mastery in which case 525K karma is spot on for a stack of 250.

The Gift Of Fortune is going to take a fair amount of work too!

What kind of lodestones are you chasing?

I’m not sure if you know about this but the Fractals of the mist (FotM) dungeon drops a reasonable amount of random cores (and I’ve even gotten 2 lodestones from there now too).

Using the Mystic Forge in LA – you can upgrade cores to lodestones with this simple recipe:

• 2 x Cores (The core type must be of the same lodestone type that you want. Example of this is 2 x Molten Cores for 1 x Molten Lodestone, 2 x Glacial Cores for 1 Glacial Lodestone etc.)
• 1 x Pile of Crystalline Dust
• 1 x Crystal (from Miyani next to the Mystic Forge)
• 1 x Bottle of Elonian wine (also from Miyani in a seperate tab)

Place those items into the mystic forge and forge it. You can get your lodestones this way too. Good luck.
