Not only this, but half the time its Knock back don’t apply. I suspect this problem might be coming from the surface of the area.
after more testing, it is sometimes surface area, but also seems to simply not hit certain enemies at all. There is def something wrong

I feel you. Ever since HoT came out it seems so pointless to have multiple guardians since build diversity kind of got deleted in every gamemode.
That being said if you want to play something different for the sake of playing something different you could always play sinister condi or play arround with hammer builds in raids.

Im huge on alts, and I have a female human guard and a norn male, whos actually my first character but I never use him. I jus realized how much I like Bladed heavy armor on norn males and I want to use my norn guard again for PVE, usually hes just locked in pvp for dailies. Is there any other good builds out there besides GS/LB zerker? I havent gotten to use my DH as much as id like too

just add the: (space)-repair to the end of the line that is already there. where mine says 64 his may say 32, leave that as it is no matter what it says . gl, hope it helps

Berserker is the default gear for the most part, and reaper is so survivable you dont really need toughness. However if you feel you do, knights and valkyrie arent bad options at all. Viper (Extremely expensive btw) is also a big thing in the necro world now due to how powerful condis are

The only way a full condi DPS ele works is by going full burn. Bleeds do pretty garbage DPS, especially because you need to swap to Earth attunement to apply them, which means you lose your burn generating abilities. Therefore burns are the only condi you apply that matters, and so burn duration is all you need.
Sinister > Viper for ele.

Thanks for the feedback, pretty much what I guessed. Really is such a shame how every class is forced into using 1 build, 1 set of weapons. Cant understand how this is not more of an issue to devs. May end up going thief then, which saddens me, Really love the new Timekeepers rifle skin.
This is wrong, not every class is forced into one build. Power engi has a much easier rotation and hits its max dps easier. Condi engi has a higher dps cap, and if that whats important to you, than use it. Its not like its weak at all. People use Power reapers in raids when berserkers do more damage and so do revs, and thieves, but they still use power reaper. Power engi is still great on dps and usefulness

He is right, though. The elite specs were supposed to be a different way to play your class, but we got a heal/buff bot instead. It’s basically the same as before, we only have less damage now. I’m bored to death each time I play tempest in pvp. It’s the same old, same old in every game mode and you can’t blame people for wanting to have options.
Ok but Ele has been able to do everything, top tier, forever. Melee, bunker, dps, range, support, everything. It has been in every Meta and still is. ive checked the vendor on every toon, the plague signet appears appears at both laurel vendor and SW vendor but not the other ring. Its driving me nuts and I want to murder something small

But realistically after testing the burns last 2s with 100% burn duration and you can’t guarantee having a fire field proc in a party situation which is absolutely terrible if you proc say a light field, so yeah axe OH still sucks.
im not sure about that. Im using it right now and its only sucked when I have a mesmer (though im getting 5k confusion, that still sucks) spamming feedback. Im not camping axe, ive gotten 12-16k burns and went right back to LB and bursted again. I think it works, again I havent worked on the rotation perfectly yet just been trying it on targets of different sizes
Completely get what youre saying about fields though, but im not concerned (as of now, havent brought it in a RAID yet) because of the stupid amout of fire fields both engi and berserker are putting down. Again, im not camping axe, but I think it can be a better alternative than Torch

Soooo ive been messing around with my engi and warrior and decided to drop torch and try axe. On not the largest of targets in frac, and large target bloomy (havent tried it on anything else yet, only been an hour) Ive dropped LBF1 and the primal version and used Axe 5 and stood on the target. Without max might stacks of vuln I got ticks of 15k burning…. I didnt optimize it at all, I just threw an earth sigil on my legendary axe and turned it viper. Didnt try to find the best rotation or anything, but theres DEF potential in it because of how long a whirl finisher it is
You don’t need to overfocus on your own self-heals. You have a healer to keep you topped off and with that tankiness on my build you won’t take a ton of damage in the first place.
The only reason to take a warrior tank instead of a guardian or chrono or engie is because the damage potential of condi tank is absolutely insanely better than the others. So if you’re wearing clerics and roleplaying as an unkillable tank thats great but what are you actually doing for your team?
I agree with this, which is what I said for the most part. How its working, a tank that can stay alive and still do damage is whats optimal. I think in the future raids we will need to be more and more tanky, but yes as of right now im 100% with you
For pve warrior is amazing and is the hero of the land. I’d say war and … ele are probably the best pve classes, maybe rev as well overall.

I got my ele to lvl 43 and hated it. I rarely use heavy classes in any game, always mage rogue archer. Someone in map chat told me guardian was like a spellsword type class so I rolled it and hit 80. Funny thing is as much as I loved it, it became my least favorite class for a solid 2 years after that. Oddly even more, I hate ranger and thief in this game, retired mes and ele for the most part, and only play warrior engi necro, and I like dh a lot.
Well I don’t play my mes or ele much anymore, I’m thinking on turning one of their sets into a viper set for my 2nd necro. You can sign me up for this. Also my zerk set us ascended and ready to go

100 percent with yoy on forceful blades. Been saying this for years, axe should stack might as well. The might on gs makes axe 2nd tier

The only thing about HoT the majorly disappointed me was no new fractals. I feel like they completely stopped caring about what people do in game. Without dungeons, I lost roughly 25% of my in game daily content to do, and fractals are a bit of a mess right now with people not even running the super high levels cuz theres no reason too

to be fair, the problem isnt viper the problem is sinister. They should reduce either the precision or power on sinister and increase its condi damage even more. It would make it much more competitive
So I’ve played a fair bit of rev/herald now, and wanted to pitch in my two cents about how to balance this class (sorry for the long post):
1. Hammer 2 skill: This skill needs to be fixed so that terrain doesn’t prevent the damage from reaching a target within range. In PvE, PvP and WvW, if my target is standing on a different piece of terrain – higher, lower, etc – it sometimes will not reach target even though they’re within range (examples include the bone fingers at western battery during teq, or the mordrem spitfires or if an enemy player is standing on a small bump in the terrain). It’s like as if it treats a slight bump in the terrain as a wall or something. Even if the enemy is standing behind a boulder, the hammer 2 skill should reach them IF the skill is able to cover the distance of going over the boulder and still reach the target. The hammer two skill is not a projectile; it travels along surfaces. It should be allowed to travel along surfaces both horizontal and vertical, and as long as the target is within the distance traveled by the skill, it should damage that target. Otherwise, it’s not as effective in situations like clocktower point in Battle of Khylo or during meta events like fighting the mordrem spitfire.
2. Hammer 3 skill should cure two conditions.
3. Hammer 4 skill should reflect projectiles instead of just blocking them.
4. Hammer 5 skill should take 1 second to cast. 1.75 seconds is a long time, and even with Shiro’s quickness, it still takes almost a full second to cast.
5. Sword 3 should have a range of 600 and should not break on stealth. Other skills like the ranger’s Rapidfire stays on the target even if they’re stealthed as long as you started attacking them BEFORE they went stealth. Sword 3 should do the same.
6. Sword 2 needs a chain pull after it connects with its targets. Reduce the range to 450. As of now, the damage on sword two is nothing exceptional, the chill duration is too short, and it just sort of feels like an afterthought as a skill. It needs a chain pull so it feels more substantial.
7. Shield 4 should cleanse two conditions from each target.

This is what I want the most…Shield 5 and the Soothing Bastion trait should allow players to MOVE while blocking AND cure a condition for each pulse; the duration should also be increased to 4 seconds. Currently, the herald shield block is the most underwhelming shield block out of all the classes, especially when compared to what a chrono’s shield block skill can do.
Right now, the herald shield block only does two things: it’s an omnidirectional block that can be interrupted by unblockable skills like a necro fear mark, and it heals for a small amount (keep in mind if you have damaging conditions on you, especially poison, the healing is made even more minimal).
My first and most prominent question is why? Why can we not move during this shield block? Every other class can move with their shield skills, even guardians (although it’s not a block of all attacks, it blocks projectiles and you can move with it). How come heralds can’t? There’s nothing that the skill does that justifies heralds having to stand still during this block; it does nothing exceptionally powerful or special. If it did something like provide 10k heal or cleanse all conditions or was a skill that couldn’t be interrupted, then yeah, I could see why the “not being able to move” thing is a trade-off. But it doesn’t do anything special.
Now let’s take a look at what other classes’ shields can do:
-Warrior shield block: Omnidirectional block, able to move around while blocking, if traited then blocking reflects projectiles
-Guardian shield block (well, projectile block): Omnidirectional projectile block, knockback of multiple targets when activated, able to move around while blocking projectiles
-Engineer shield block (this one has a reflect AND a block): Two blocks….one’s a reflect and one’s an actual block, and both skills can be chained so that one of them knocks back nearby enemies AND is a blast finisher, the other one is a projectile daze that bounces between multiple targets, able to move around while both blocking and reflecting, reflect and block are both omnidirectional
-Chronomancer (probably the most OP shield block in the game): Omnidirectional block, able to move around, when blocking even one attack, it chains into a SECOND omnidirectional block you can move around with, AND, for each of the first and second blocks, you get a phantasm that damages enemies and puts slow on them and gives alacrity to allies
So, yeah….please buff the herald’s shield skill and Soothing Bastion trait so that we can move around while blocking (also give it the 4 second duration and a condition clear per pulse/second of blocking).
9. One With Nature…please buff the protection boon to 8-10 seconds…the other boons you get from activating this skill last for that duration, but protection only lasts for about 5 seconds.
10. Facet of Darkness/Gaze of Darkness: Please buff the radius of the reveal to 600. The scrapper’s reveal has a radius of 900. I understand that the Gaze of Darkness is stronger because it does an AOE blind and is also a stun break, so it can’t have the same radius as Detection Pulse, but 360 is too small a radius.
11. Elemental Blast should cure one condition per pulse on allies.
12. Burst of Strength, as it is now, is a pretty lackluster skill. It’s a unidirectional attack with a very short range that does poor damage and applies vulnerability for a pretty short duration (not to mention it has a 15 second cooldown). Even the passive effect of one stack of might every three seconds is kind of…‘eh.’ For a skill that’s called Burst of Strength, it needs to do more. It needs to be an omnidirectional attack with a radius of, say, 600, that does 50% more damage than it does now and it needs to apply its current ten stacks of vulnerability for at least 10 seconds.
13. Reduce the energy cost of Riposting Shadows to 20.
14. Take out the casting time for Phase Travel and make it ground targeted. Make 5 attacks unblockable instead of just two, because only having two unblockable attacks is pretty wimpy. The way Phase Travel is now, compared to other teleports, is probably the worst teleport. Other classes can use their ground-targeted teleports to go up to ledges and even through ceilings, while non-ground-targeted teleports like JI have no casting time and can go through walls with little to now hassle. But Phase Travel can’t do some of the teleports that JI can do, so instead of making Phase Travel like a poor man’s JI, please just let it be ground-targeted so we can at least use it for extra mobility and to move up to higher ground.
15. The Cleansing Channel trait should cleanse 3 conditions. The ranger, when traited, can automatically have its pet take 3 conditions off of them every ten seconds (4 if they have the signet of renewal). Being able to cleanse 3 conditions on a legendary stance switch isn’t too much to ask for, I don’t think, especially since power heralds have pretty limited condi cleanse/protection as it is. The one stance that heralds have that’s pretty OP in terms of protection from condis is the demon stance. The other stances are pretty limited or have no condi protection.
16. Give heralds a second underwater weapon. Not having access to their second underwater weapon makes it a pain to do any sort of underwater content, including open world PvE, fractals, etc.
17. Put a 5 second cooldown on Banish Enchantment and increase the energy cost to 25.
18. Put a 5-second ICD on Demonic Defiance. Being able to perma-spam resistance is way too OP.
19. Put a 30-second CD on Embrace the Darkness, and give it a flat 50 energy cost to transform into a demonic avatar. Give it a 10-second duration, with one stack of stability per second and increase condition duration and condition damage stats during transformation. You can either give them a new set of weapon skills during transformation or allow them to use their regular weapon skills.
20. Lower the cooldown on Chaotic Release to 35 seconds.
21. Allow facet skills on dragon stance, when activated, to give two stacks of stability for 5 seconds. I think this would allow Enhanced Bulwark to kind of make more sense and synergize better with the dragon stance with which the herald elite spec is associated. OR, you can make it so that Enhanced Bulwark is a GM trait that allows dragon stance skills to give 2-3 stacks stability when activated.
You made a post about balance but everything yoy said was to make the rev stronger in every category with unlimited condi cleanse. The class is already basically immune to condi when played correctly. Shield 5 is borderline over powered and yoy want to buff it. Between shield 5 double dodge roll sword 3 shiro 7 there’s nearly 10 seconds, or more, of invulnerability and healing.
I thought you were making a joke post and I’m still unsure tbh if this is a joke or what. I agree with hammer 2, part of it anyway, and sword 2. Everything else sounds so far from balanced
having just levelled a War/Berserker to 80 I am actually finding him pretty dang good. Am still on the fence as far as tanking with him but what issues are there? Granted, I play solely PVE so this might all be PVP issues but if not share, I am intrigued.
Nah its just pvp and somewhat wvw. Warrior is a monster in pve
so id probably use something like this personally, but im unsure if commander/maurader/etc would be better for stats. Def the trait set up id use personally (although nikes will do more damage) this sucker will have super toughness and super passive regen

Due to the sheer damage of condi berserker, heck yea that build will do a ton. It’s also got a good amount if health and toughness. The build I put together won’t do the damage but it’s not weak either. It’s a real solid I’m not going anywhere type build and you can stack a ton of regenration. For more damage you could probably go full clerics weapon and armor but use zerker trinkets
Right now, I’d rank Daredevil DPS as #3, behind two other classes: Herald, Tempest. And tempest is a technicality, as there are plenty of situations where Daredevil does more.
Daredevil DPS in my experience is highly variable. It depends on several things:
#1: The location of the target. Next to a ridge or against a wall is preferred.
#2: The size of the target. Bigger is better.
#3: How well paced their attacks are. An even paced moveset is best.
#4: If they have projectiles that can be reflected, and how well I can predict it.It all comes down to how much I can cut loose with Weakening Charge. Against a near-ledge target or a cornered enemy, I can cut loose a full fury with Weakening Charge, and do just massive damage. Against large targets, too.
Against smaller targets I have to use the Bound -> Vault -> Charge -> Auto to maximize DPS, with Fist Flurry thrown in for good measure. If the target is particularly troublesome, I can tank it by standing in its face and using vault in place to avoid each attack. That tactic is… surprisingly effective against certain enemies. Against enemies with wide sweeping attacks, I’ll occasionally use dust strike -> auto -> dust strike to disable their moves. Or sometimes I’ll just chain my stuns to keep something disabled.
Even against dangerous enemies I can stay engaged for quite the time. I definitely recommened channeled vigor as a heal, because its healing potential is massive and that extra 1.5 dodges means quite a bit of maintained engagement time.
As for the competitors…
Tempest beats Daredevil against large targets, stationary targets, and enemies that must be engaged at range. As much as I like unload, the fact is that font + fireball is better. Tempest loses to Daredevil against mobile targets, or targets that you have to engage at melee range, and also in situations where sustained damage is unavoidable. The glass is real here, but I’ve found the DD more than capable of surviving.
Herald beats Daredevil in most circumstances, except that in which sustained damage is unavoidable in melee. Heralds don’t have a real “heal” as much as they have a few utility skills that grant health along with their other functions, so I’ve found that in bouts where I need sustain, the Herald starts to fall short. Otherwise, the herald does stupid good DPS by just auto attacking with sword. There is a note here: Heralds have to sacrifice a lot to deal with projectiles, but thieves sacrifice very little.
Well if you’re talking power, I’m pretty positive berserker has higher dps. If we are including condi builds thief isn’t even in the top 5. Engi and berserker blow it out the water. Also as for the healing, herald heal is top tier to the point of being broken. Swapping between Glint and shiro you can heal so often you never stop attacking Champs solo.
Thief is probably around reaper dps. Thief is higher but when enemy drops below 50 it’s much closer with reaper possibly doing more, but I think thief still wins
I have to disagree about herald healing. Swapping between Glint and Shiro has me awkwardly using the hammer to try and proc Enchanted Daggers because I have run out of health. Glints heal, while theoretically limitlesss, is really an invulnerability skill that comes with the benefit of converting damage to health. Because of this, I frequently find my health ticking down much faster than it accumulates, and stalling for time while I wait for Facet of Light to come off recharge.
Now, I don’t play warrior, and I haven’t played engi in years, so I do not have experience with how much damage they output (although Reaper is definitely behind DD in my experience. Weakening Charge does more damage than gravedigger and in half the time). Though unless I am missing my guess, if you include condi builds, Daredevils are still in the top 5, as that only adds warriors and engis (on top of eles and heralds).
Though I have watched some videos on condi berserkers, and though I can see them hitting 18k DPS for certain time periods against a golem… I’m getting up to 6.7k per hit on Weakening Charge, and 21k on vault, all just zerg running. If I calculate it right, Fist Flurry is hitting for 62k damage total (over 1.75 seconds, that would amount to 35k DPS). There’s going to be down time for initiative regen, bound, and auto attacks for proper positioning, but overall I wouldn’t throw my hands up and say that condi berserkers necessarily beat power daredevils.
You don’t need to use the hammer 4 for healing, that’s just an added benefit. Shiro heal with sword heals a lot. Plus youre forgetting shield 4 and shield 5 both heal. Also spammed grave diggers can hit as high as 34k plus
so id probably use something like this personally, but im unsure if commander/maurader/etc would be better for stats. Def the trait set up id use personally (although nikes will do more damage) this sucker will have super toughness and super passive regen
