Honestly despite the fact that it’s possible to succeed in the new raid with tempest, it’s still not worth taking if you want to optimise.
The truth is that elementalist isn’t really in good shape right now because it’s had so much taken away from it in the past 2 years without having gained nearly as much by comparison with a lot of the other classes.
It isn’t a bad class, but it just isn’t really worth it anymore (at least right now it isn’t).

I don’t think reaper is really meta. I think reaper is very tough and hard to kill which is a huge asset when people haven’t mastered the mechanics. As people get better, reaper will be wanted less and other classes wanted more.
I could be wrong, but that’s my current take on it.

Those are meta classes.
While thats true for PvE, I’m pretty sure this thread is talking about PvP where PS warrior has never been a thing and condi engi gets eaten by condi necro, and condi necro actually eats all the other things on the list too.
PS warrior is not meta because Herald and tempest together is easy 25 stacks of might. all warrior brings is banners, and honestly, youre better off with DH or reaper
theyre both great. Druid is uh-maze-in as a healer, while ventari imo has an awful traitline and its meh at healing, but the projectile destruction is godlike in the situations its useful
I dunna get why it is such a big deal… all the groups I was with in beta and now for raids… Vale Guardian moves around a lot. When he splits, you can still move him around in tiny circles… so Torment does fine; and even without movement, I always see it do more than the burning I apply.
Still a major L2P situation going on with raids though so folks just play the ignorant game and take what they think is best because some noob on youtube or twitch said it is. Nothing can be done but find a party not filled with elitists.
other classes can get burning tickets from 9-15k

So what I’m understanding is that anyone who can’t play Warrior has serious l2p issues..I have ran nothing but Warrior since GW2 release, and I have NEVER had a nerf or anything be a problem. Find out what Anet does to their game in updates, find out what needs to be fixed, and adapt. I am still very balanced and have no problems killing ANY class. 3.5k Power, 3.3k armor, 56% crit, 19k health, etc. Condi is useless to me, but I can still kill without it and I don’t need to worry about survivability: I have that no problem.
problem is youve played nothing but warrior. you know nothing jon… you dont know a thing about the green grass
Tempest is the best solo class. It can 1v1 any champ in zerker gear for the most part.
Tempest also seems to be the best tank right now due to ridiculous protection uo time, buffed protection and aoe healing
Condi rev relies in torment to do most of the damage. Mobs don’t move as much as players.

For stationary groups you can spam Mace 2, even buffed with EtD, Sprinkled with Elemental Blast and Chaotic Release. That’s 8 stacks of burning, plus just spamming mace 2 till 70 energy = 20 stacks of torment.
That’s actually awful, like really bad. Guard can put up 14 to 18 stacks of burning passively.
Don’t even start on ranger and engi
After a lot of druid play, and mind you I hate ranger, I’ve come to like druid a lot. I wish berserker worked like CA except with aoe offense support and damage…
medium armor is horrendous, pistols and rifles look cool but you never get to see them, instead you hold our ugly kits.
This alone turns people off, Ranger and Thief are popular historically from all types of other games and lores, so they still attract people despite the ugly armor, but engi has no saving grace.
No weapon swap is obvious, no melee (until now) forever, no camping, too difficult to pick up, seems weak at first glace, seems slow at first glance, has very little cool about it, legendaries have no effect on basically any of their skills, wasnt meta in pve content for a very long time despite always being one of the higher dps classes, it just wasnt “required”.
People LOVE dual pistols (on thief, and it sucks) yet its amazing on engi, but its condi and the rotation turns people off.
Playing at medium range feels weird to people, people want to rush in or be at max range.

what I dont understand what the announcement that they would be reworking classes between pvp tournies and such and that it would be often, meanwhile, warrior hasnt gotten feedback since BWE2. thats BAD. I love Robert, id chase him down the block covered in chicken grease and push my gf in front of a moving vehicle to sit and talk to him about anything, while in that chicken grease. However its borderline disrespectful how long this lack of communication has been. I know hes a busy man and its not in his job description to talk to us little folk, but this is BAD

…til last night. We need ONE more condi person, we were will to take anything. burning guard, preferably an engi, condi ranger… condi berserker… anything… but we got a condi rev and boy oh boy oh boy did that just not work.

we dont need reflect. Ventari stance 7 (that thing youve probably never used) can block projectiles for a RIDICULOUSLY long time. Harpy fractal is a joke, you can block in the underground facility nonstop at the end part. Even in pvp holding a point, you can drop it and then switch to hammer and 4. projectile destruction is awesome, let the few classes that have reflect have it, because revs absord is ridiculous
i dont know what youre talking about… what build recommended you strength runes? if youre using your revenant as a boon bot why using it at all? warrior keeps the might up anyways at all time while doing damage. you need to keep up your rotation and not stack random boons. youre there for fury, the f2 (,swiftness) and regen. you give 5 might because of your traits and thats more than enough. anyone not recommending scholar doesnt know what hes talking about, u dont camp glint.
as for a cheap alternative as it was already said rage runes are perfect because u get the %modifier with a permanent uptime.

This is somewhat true. Thing is, Warrior isnt overly popular anymore. Ive run well over 100 fracs since HoT and I honestly rarely see a warrior on my team. Theres NOTHING wrong with Strength rune on rev, at all.
I ran clerics trinkets and zerk gear, the heals felt great. I was able to contribute something more than just some dps. I ran almost full spirits, everything but the heal, and all the boons where useful and helped the party.
im tempted to go nomads armor and cleric trinkets
Ive basically retired my war and im going to turn his armor into something tanky, not sure what yet.

Reaper, DH, Herald, Tempest are the best solo classes imo.
honestly, Reaper, Tempest, DH (with traps) and Rev (for the most part) can literally walk through mobs melee no problem.
Especially Reaper and Tempest
ive killed it 3 times now, twice with LUCK and once with some pugs.

How can you call something “THE perfect killer” and not consider it Over Powered?
By definition the perfect killer would be better than anything else, top of the food chain.
While balance would mean they are all on the same level.
Obviously if it observably is “THE perfect killer” it should be nerfed down to the level of the other killers.Perfect can have multiple definitions (or put more directly, what specific aspect is being called perfect). Therefore, it can be the perfect killer without being out of line.
Because pvp isnt about killing? If pvp was 1v1 then yea, thats a whole diff story. Then again from your comment you probably dont pvp so I apologize for my comment. PVP is team based and is more so about bunkering and holding points, a “pure killer” spec is good for roamers and dropping people in team fights but its not as valuable as a good point holder. Mesmer at one point was unstoppable in 1v1s and still wasnt meta in pvp

Most Revenant damage comes from auto attacks by design. You have an issue with it, take it up with the developers. Everyone complains about how Revenant has to take this legend or that legend and can’t choose their skills. The auto attack being strong is the one thing that allows you to make a defensive pick for an offhand weapon or legend without completely shafting dps. You kill that, you kill the entire house of cards the profession is built on.

As a rev player I tell you this: Sword AA is ridiculously overpowered in terms of DPS.
A few weeks ago I would of agreed with you and I understand your opinion completely. However the truth is without the high auto attack dps rev has nothing. We have 2 other melee weapons and both provide no sustainable or burst damage. Sword can’t burst and its our main power weapon, so it legit needs the dps. DH is literally the complete opposite.
If the aa is reduced mace needs over a 100 percent buff and staff 2 and 5 need a major rework and huge dps increase, and the 1 would need about a 20 percent increase
DH is perfect. its not op, its none of that imo, its just perfect. Its the one perfect class. Guardian was the ALMOST perfect bunker and DH is THE perfect killer (yes, over Rev and Mesmer). I still think Reaper is the DH weakness overall, especially condi ones, but thats a whole different story. I also think baseline cele necro does fine against DH

“Forced” doesn’t mean what you seem to think it means. I guarantee you that when you utilize a kit, you “chose” to use it.
The profession is designed around being optimal with kits. The funny part is that this was suggested shortly after the profession was announced, and reinforced during the betas, it is not like this is a new concept here.
All I see is that you are requesting that they destroy the profession as a whole, for your personal desires. That is a bad reason to do anything.

Actually hes 100% right. Weapon Swap wouldnt destroy the profession at all. You have very little to say, so youre focusing on his use of the word “forced”. You offer little to no feedback other than to look for ways to attack his wordage. Engi has been, and still is, in a fine place.
The problem is that every build is FORCED to take MULTIPLE kits to be VIABLE in anything beyond killing moas open world. I love kits, theyre great, but it destroys our utility.
Now if all our utilities were just Kits and/or Elixers, we would be fine, but its not that way. We just got a handful of gyros that cant fit on our utility bars. Now, youre going to just sit back and say play another class thats not how its meant to be etc, which is fine, youre entitled to your opinion, but dont say his opinion is to “Destroy” a class when he explained, to the T mind you, on why he believes what believes what he believes and you just sit back and say Forced, heh.
Actually Sword 1 should just be nerfed, it’s insane for a class to top DPS charts with just that.
This was my solution forever, but after playing Rev extensively ive come to the conclusion that (as of now) if sword 1 or glints heal take and (more) nerfs, Rev will become at most mediocre and for the most part out shined by DH. We will still be decent boon bots though, so its not all bad
You already ‘have’ to take grenades now.
And at this point, this is never going to happen. Much more productive to fix what exists than to revamp it.

OK, what am I missing?
I mean … you got this treasure mushroom with about 10 Million HP in one of the most mordrem infested zones – you got those nice mounted cavaliers in the veteran version to make sure you have all the fun of being bounced around for all eternity, you ma ykill 5 enemies but then the first you killed will already respawn … and now … how the … are you supposed to do that mushroom thing?
Oh, yes, it is a group event … meaning you have to get people together. Well, been trying to do that for 3 days now … empty maps, those few peaople that are there do meta or HP … mentor tag, commander tag, spamming in chat … 0 people interested in killing a treasure mushroom on map 1.
So … what am I missing? Where is the hidden trick to make this a “wonderful gaming experience” instead of a horribly frustrating one? Whoever did THAT design in THAT location … should GW 2 HoT fail .. pat him on the back, it’s things like that that will have sersiously helped to put people off.
Fun thing is … on map 2 and 3 I had to kill the bugger by myself as well because noone was interested – sole exception was that it was DOABLE because the monster composition/spawn rate was actually manageable.
Edit: Oh, and it so much more fun with a ranger … obstructed, obstructed, obstructed … which does, apparently, not apply to any ranged enemy – they hit you fine, indeed.
Why are you lying? Empty maps for 3 days you’re completely full of it. I type in map chat treasure mushroom and link the ep and about 10 people come. I open up lfg and get a full party on a minute.

OId topic but I just cant seem to let go of it. I had NO problem with rifle or pistol engi, but hammer/scrapper trait line screams weapon swap to me. I feel so limited using hammer due to lack of range, and knowing I HAVE to take grenades is just annoying. I feel like weapon swap would open up so many more options if I could use rifle/hammer. I could STILL take nades, but the options it would open up for more builds would be a god send
This thread needs more love, this build is incredible and im now enjoying my Druid. My only questrion is what trinkets are you using? im currently using this full zerker but im going to swap my ascended set to zealots for RAIDS.
no, listen to them, warrior is in a terrible spot right now. Its had a crooked crown on for years but now its broken and theres no rubies in it. Guardian has always been in a good spot as well, but right now Dragon hunter is an absolute monster
I have no problems with mace and use it in PvE roaming everywhere… and kite mobs just fine while in melee to make them move and take that increased torment damage.
So, really, L2P. Mace is fine.

L2P? first off, youre kiting in melee. That alone tells you how bad mace is currently, youre actually running away from a mob to make it move to do decent (its not decent) damage and most likely getting it out of mace 2 which is the only good damage (its not that good) mace has. Show me your impressive PVE skills doing ANYWHERE NEAR sword melee damage and ill bless your account with any item from the gem store.
I want to see atleast 5k burning 3k torment and 2k poison, that would put you somewhere almost close to what sword can do, and it has to be consistent.

No one is ever in Dragon stand. Any time there is a Organized Dragon stand, it is already full.
Please make changes so that it is more accessible or, remove it from map completion + make it a raid.
Suggestion for change
- Remove the requirement of minimum players to start the map.
go there literally 10 minutes of the map starting and theres MANY organizing, it goes on all day
mace is an absolute waste. One of the coolest and most satisfying weapons visually but due to our lack of traits for condi and hybrid its hot garbage. its DECENT in pvp, at most, and horrid in pve.

DH was considered a joke in BWE1-2-3 and was laughed at, people said Guard would never be in pvp or pve again, its the worst, will never see META
Fast forward a few weeks and “did you even test this in beta??” yes, yes we did.
Wait a few weeks before anything is decided. In BWE3 it was determined Reaper and Chrono would dominate the META, but, things change

ive said it a million times, the only thing that makes rev extremely powerful in pvp is the glint heal. Other than that, its a powerhouse that can get rekt if not played in the right hands. Rev comes off as simple, I completely get it, but its more about rotating and know WHEN to rotate that makes it interesting. If you played D/D ele in the past, Rev feels somewhat similar (pvp wise)
Only thing I see hitting harder is rev hammer, but LB is fast as sin and absolutely destroys things

No, video games can be safely played if designed properly. The dev’s need to have a little bit of restraint on all the effects that blink or have particles. I means seriously, the utilities DO NOT have to freaking blink. On a side note, I feel the dev’s should have a bit more restraint on the effects as it’s getting a bit gaudy anyway.
youre absolutely wrong on this. the blink takes up less than 1/1380th of the screens size. If you CANNOT handle that, then youre condition is FAR worse than normal epilepsy. To put that in perspective, a blinking yellow light while driving is larger in your vision if you are 35 feet away.
If youre complaining about this, video games and tv ARE NOT SAFE for you, and I feel bad, but you need to consider perhaps a different life style.
