Has anybody seen Sareb? Evon’s Sylvari aide-de-camp? She used to hang out in the BLTC, but I haven’t seen her at all in LA or at any of the refugee camps.

She’s missing, as is the Silvari BL auctioneer.

OP if you haven’t already done so you should look for video of Taimi’s dialog with Braham during the Edge of the Mists content. It did an exceptional job of fleshing out her personality.

The female norn bar owner is at the Priory Refugee Camp. Her dialog says she was returning from buying ale to discover the city had been attacked.

Okay, I remember seeing her now too. Good catch.

Has anyone checked under LA in the sewer tunnels? Anet has stated that full map completion is still possible and iirc there is a POI that you have to swim thru the sewers to get. That would be a great place for the skritt to take refuge.

Yeah, I looked down there, no skritt.

Other NPCs that seem to be unaccounted for:

The female Norn owner of the bar on the east side outside the city

The bartender of the Cloud Skimmer Tavern

The three woman and silvari who do the pub crawl

The woman who lives on the island to the east where Cobiah Mariner’s tombstone is

The blond guy in the swimming trunks next to the diving board

The guy who owned the little boat near the Traders Forum

Let’s start a list of all LA NPCs that are MIA right now. Off the top of my head all I can think of are the skritt since the only ones I’ve seen at the camps is the shady dealer one selling the potion of thoughtlessness. Also the guys promoting the Mist War aren’t anywhere to be seen either from what I can tell.

Also I don’t see Evon Gnashblade’s assistant (the silvari) at VK, did he make it out?

I like the dagger, looks kind of like some sort of cultist ceremonial dagger. I also like the pistol because it looks like a huge magnum. To bad I won’t be getting any of these because they’re expensive on the TP and I don’t play the RNG game.

Well, I defended these new events at first..

Finally beat it after 20+ tries, here is my take on it:

The first 5 tries were super fun and exciting. The next 15+ were an exercise in frustration. By the time I beat it my feels were “Wow, I’m glad I NEVER have to do that again.” not some overwhelming sense of victory.

And how did I finally manage to get a win? Did my server pull together and work as a team, using strategy and skill to defeat this monster? No, I guested on TC…

The most frustrating part, like many people have said, is that it only takes a handful of people who don’t know what they’re doing or just don’t have enough skill to fail the event for everyone. No matter how good I got at this event, and trust me, I mastered each warden by the time I beat it, it didn’t make any kitten difference because others were screwing up.

Also the event needs to scale better for smaller groups. As it is, this event will effectively be obsolete when the new content comes out because I don’t see 100+ people still lining up for this.

I’d have to agree with this. All this is doing is alienating the majority of the playerbase. Don’t get me wrong, I think there are plenty of ways for Anet to make a quick buck here and there, but when EVERYTHING is in the cash shop, it just makes the whole thing feel shallow.

So you’re telling me that the majority of the player base can’t spare $10 for an armor set? lol.

Anet wants you to spend that $10. I want more armour skins that need to be earned and not just bought.
The armour isn’t even close to being ad bad as the rng weapons lol I doubt you get one with that $10.

Yeah RNG sucks. I’ve never gotten suckered into that bs.

I have player music turned most of the way up but during Teq prep a charr was standing by me with music notes pouring out of his boom box and I couldn’t hear a thing. I haven’t bought either box because I want to know what it sounds like before I spend the gems.

That’s pretty much where I am right now. I’m not buying something that doesn’t work on a wishful promise that it will get fixed at some point.

Harder and longer is better!

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Harder: Yes
Longer: No

Longer stages just make the harder content feel tedious and frustrating. Not to mention the extra pressure of realizing that a single disconnect will wipe your progress. I stressed over that in W2-Z2 and W2-Z3 TM more than the stages themselves.

My question is how the Hylek turrets, that used to shoot blobs and are clearly fluid nozzles hooked up to fluid canisters, now shoot giant solid spikes that are wider than the opening? o__O

Asura spacial-displacement technology. The same reason their ears and outer toes “disappear” while wearing certain armor pieces. The spikes are obviously being brought in from some sort of sub-dimension.

In future installations of SAB please don’t add the darkness like you did in W2-Z3 TM. Just saying…

Why did SAB change?

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Posted by: Barabbas.8715

Barabbas.8715

I love challenging content. I have never complained about anything Anet has added to them game content-wise when others have complained about difficulty. Even the Halloween jumping puzzle, I spent all day working on it and LOVED it. I don’t care about achievements, so I am never concerned about ability to do something, just about how much fun it is to actually do.

But this? It’s ridiculous. I don’t understand why World 1 was so much fun and World 2 is so frustrating.

Cheap deaths, long levels.

Tribulation Mode Completion Club

Barabbas.8715

Just finished up W2-Z3. I did this WITHOUT the BS P2W coin. (I had a method of farming about 230 lives per day just by running World 1 in normal mode so after about a week I had all I needed)

Here are my thoughts on each section:

W1-Z1 – One of the hardest and most annoying. The paths you must take are extremely specific and “Boulder Canyon” was total BS. I still can’t beat that part without losing at least 20 lives.

W1-Z2 – This one was a lot of fun and one of my favorite zones. The only things that sucked were the first lava boulder and the lily pad section near the end.

W1-Z3 – Another really fun zone. The battle with King Toad was even more fun than the first time.

W2-Z1 – Fun but overall felt a bit too easy. Even if the moving water spouts hadn’t been removed I’m not sure it would have been hard enough, since those water spouts weren’t extremely hard in normal mode.

W2-Z2 – This zone was VERY annoying and frustrating, not because of TM, but because it was already annoying and frustrating in normal mode. The Trib cloud at the block puzzle was BS too.

W2-Z3 – This one was a lot of fun and despite the fact that it was probably the hardest it never felt cheap and frustrating like W2-Z2 did. The only annoying parts were the Trib cloud where you had to run past the blowing statues and that one part where you had to get hit by the clouds and use the invulnerable state to cross some of the spikes. That was pretty cheesy and felt more like an exploit than something I was supposed to be doing.

Overall TM was a lot of fun and I hope to see more of it in the future.

Here’s a shot of my achievements and Cyrain with her new sword as well as proof that I didn’t use the BS coin.

Rocky launch

Difficulty spikes

Inadequate rewards

Also, I’m bad at the maths.

The difficulty spikes aren’t that bad in and of themselves but that combined with the longer levels do make it feel very tedious at times.

ut the same design sensibilities are making future levels, and I’d prefer it if it felt like one of the good platformers of the era rather than the ones that are only remembered due to shared trauma.

Yep, I’d prefer it feel more like Mario instead of Ninja Gaiden too. World 1 got this right, World 2 was just filled with cheap deaths and a high learning curve. And I’m guessing the P2W coin had something to do with this…

Has SAB been ruined?

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Posted by: Barabbas.8715

Barabbas.8715

Not ruined yet, they can still salvage this with World 3. The thing is, TM is supposed to be hard, not normal mode. The addition of difficulty levels was great but the overall design of World 2 kind of made that pointless since even normal mode wasn’t nearly as fun as World 1 due to the increase in difficulty and cheap deaths. It didn’t even feel challenging, just CHEAP!

World 1 was like a Mario/Megaman game in that you can just go through it and have fun without having to really strain yourself. World 2 is more like Ninja Gaiden/Battle Toads where you have to memorize or die. Not fun. Leave the cheap deaths and steep learning curve for TM.

ROFL, TM didn’t require skill, it required a lot of time, trial and error, and the PTW coin. ANYONE could beat it eventually with that coin and enough tries, it would just take a while.

Mission accomplished. It’s meant to be unfair (and make you buy the PTW coin) Personally the only problem I have with TM is the buggy as hell explosive flower hit boxes. Barabbas.8715

People who play games need to start growing up.

And while you are at it get a job and start wearing suits!

Seriously, games are for fun and you have to be a child at heart to enjoy them. This is a game not a job, people play it to mess around, relax and have fun.

Now to the rest, not everyone’s definition of fun is the same. Hard does not equal enjoyable or good content. You want it hard then do things like Tribulation and Liadri, if you found them too easy then perhaps Guild Wars II is not the game for you.

Remeber Guild Wars II was sold on the idea of being -casual friendly-, not ultra hard super elite MLG gameplay. If you bought the game to be tested to your utmost limits, then perhaps you got the wrong game?

Yes, the problem is when they go and nerf the Tribulation Mode like they just did.

Yeah, because adding three check points across two zones is such a major nerf. I even deleted all my TM rewards because now they are worthless. /sarcasm

Or maybe you could do some research before posting and notice that all the nerfs they did to Normal mode also carried over to the Tribulation mode.

Those weren’t nerfs, those were fixes. Those flowers were broke as hell as were many other things. And NONE of that makes TM significantly easier.

Yes they do and there was nothing wrong with the flowers the only minor problem was that the river was too punishing for normal mode, and it did deserve a nerf but everything was completely fine for TM difficulty. On top of that they made some harder jumps easier and more!

No those flowers were garbage. They would throw you off cliffs and sometimes not even activate properly. And if those harder jumps you’re talking about are the water spouts, those weren’t hard to begin with if you had a little patience and timing.

Why even have difficulties?

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Posted by: Barabbas.8715

Barabbas.8715

Is there even any reason to have different difficulty modes, if the hardest difficulty gets nerfed to the point where anyone can complete it given a few hours of time?

Trololololololol! Keep trying kid. No one in their right mind thinks that just anyone can beat TM in a few hours. So they added three checkpoints and fixed some broken crap and now it’s EZ mode? ROFL, that’s a good one.

Thank you for the update!

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Posted by: Barabbas.8715

Barabbas.8715

I also want to thank Josh and the other devs from the bottom of my heart. Honestly, I don’t care about the difficulty but the fact that they managed to get so much kitten out of people by only adding 3 checkpoints to TM is incredible. I’m seriously laughing my kitten off right now at all the whining I’m seeing. 3 freaking check points and everyone pitches a fit. Unreal.

All the changes made to Normal mode also carried over to the Tribulation mode, that’s the biggest problem, not the checkpoints.

Good, that means all the broken crap that got fixed got fixed for both modes. TM wasn’t supposed to be hard because of broken crap like those flowers and bs rapids mechanics, it was supposed to be hard because of the hidden stuff, jumping, and what not.
