All depends how much materials you have. I would say it is about 20g per craft if you have very little materials.
Also if you have some inscriptions dropped (like from Karka Queen event) it may be actually kitteneaper doing the last part.
Whole point to effective crafting is refining materials first then doing discoveries when refining does not give you XP anymore. Making/discovering consumables/runes/sigils is also a good way to earn extra XP tho some of them use rather expensive ingredients.

Another factor is that if you want to level up armorsmithing and weaponsmithing that uses same kind of materials (metals) you will run out of mats quite quickly so you will have to buy/gather more which will be either time consuming or expensive.

Anyway, ascended weapons don’t drop. It’s a myth.

First it is not hundreds of gold, second you don’t need to buy gems/gold to be able to afford everything from gem shop.

I have a legendary and 2 ascended weapons and never spent a single dollar for gems. I do not live in this game also. Possible? Possible!

True, people farm it but I also believe there was a slight change in sub-events order and it makes nearly impossible to finish it now.

What I mean before you could fight Molten Alliance AND Second Wave at the same time, now it is like First Wave → Molten → Second Wave → Aethers → Final Wave – Scarlet. Much harder to finish since people rather farm Aethers for guaranteed, good loot then chase the rabbit.

On SFR we managed to pop Scarlet once but with less than 1 min of event left to do.

You don’t need to join a populated server. However you might want to join a cross server guild dedicated to killing Tequatl (or other upcoming world bosses).

These guilds are cross-server, and they do not require that you keep them as your main guild, only that you rep them during the encounter itself to facilitate comms.

There are already 3 such guilds, and a 4th Oceanic guild. All of them are full. But there is no reason there can’t be more.

The current implementation is clumsy. There is a lot of “taxi-ing” to overflow servers. There is a lot of join-spamming because overflows get filled to max capacity quickly. There is a lot of waiting around and a-kitteng, because of the spawn window. There is a lot of frustration because you have guild members waiting to get in, but that spot is taken up by a complete stranger.

If there is something to fix, fix those instead.

Saying “instance please” is like asking for World Peace. Putting Teq in an instance won’t automatically solve all the problems. It’s all about how you want to implement the content.

You talk about few interesting things here and you are correct. You miss one important thing tho, namely “elitism” which is the thing most MMO players hate to the bone.

Meaning, if you do not belong to a guild that is made purely for killing Teq (and most probably. For now, you can join those guilds (or not) but later it may be quite impossible for casuals. So, again, many players will be put outside some content for good.
On my server we used to have more or less successfull attempts but now if I see 7-10 ppl it is the max. Not that ppl from my server don’t want to kill it but they do jump to overflows/servers where they can enjoy it without “pugs”, noobs, whatever and, what is worse, will keep “the kill” time in secret.

I usually do not care about such stuff. If I manage to kill it fine, if not – no problem. What I do care about is that is the only place for now to get best aqua breather in game and I like shiny stuff

I think TSS guild did that but they filled overflow so fast even some of their members didn’t get there

I see no reason for armor recipies to be more expensive than weapon ones unless it will be a recipie for whole set.

Ascended crafting is time gated already so why punish those who spent their Laurels on something else?

It’s hard finding people doing it now since people are guaranteed to be in FGS.

And AFAIK, none of those are events except the slime, which is on a long timer (something like +6 hours) so it shouldn’t even be a factor in the train.

in FGS like only 1 or 2 champs are tied to events also and they die so quickly that if you have longer load time u barely can get them.

Besides, there are 3 events in CS champ farm route. Rotbeard, Ooze, Shark but only shark is on relatively short timer (every second round).
Personally, I like CS champ train more as it gives more chances for better loot (heavy moldy bags) and there are more possible events in CS which can spawn some extra (annoying) champs. Finally, I did get 3 Anomaly hammers in CS already (each 30-40g on TP) and in FSG no exotic worth mentioning yet.

im working on my 3rd ascended weapon , really its not that hard my only issue is the little Dragonite ore you get in WvW

you get little dragonite in WvW but tons of fragments. In PvE it is the other way around. Still, I manage to get both at steady rate so it wont cause delays. Meaning every 5 days I can craft an ascended weapon.

Myself and many of my guildies started crashing constantly since last update.

I am playing on two different computers (internet is also from two different providers) and I can be sure that every 15-30 minutes the game will crash.

weird. I got this achievement like 2 days ago (after months of hunting for it) and I only popped for last few hits on Taidha. I only logged into a game because I saw it in “On” on gw2stuff.com and tohught I give it a try coz I needed that only achi.

those and game bugs. Really, since they started to put “new content” every two weeks GW2 is crashing like old barn every day for me. It is not only ny or my computer, I play on 2 different rigs and my guildies complain too.

On topic, as someone said I do LS only if I want meta reward and sadly, most rewards are only some stupid backpack skins. I have full bank row filled with different skins I probably will never use. APs… sure, why not but nothing I must do now even tho I have most of achievements completed. Also it quite annoys me that I feel like taking a week break will kitten me in one way or the other. When a game becomes a second job it is something wrong with it…

I feel your pain tho I must be among the “lucky” few who really do drop cool stuff from time to time. I never had full MF gear but I did get exotics and T6 in large quantities and it made me stop linking stuff in/g chat coz I felt my guildies are starting to hate me.

At the moment I have one full row in bank filled with different skins from previous events (sadly mostly backpacks) and no idea what to do with them. All my alts also have some “unique” backpack skins too.

The only thing I need is one more skin…

Guest on a server that did it. Use gw2stuff to check. On the week ends there’s at least one server that completes it. Then buy as many as you want (I bought 500 last time).

Good luck farming these materials, as you will mostly get high level materials with a level 80 character.
So most of the time you will get Gossamer and Silk, the lower level mats are basically unfarmable.

So you base your prices on CURRENT value of materials. I bet this 25g that by the time people realise what is needed all those mats will double if not tripple their value on TP.

On the other hand with time gated mechanics it will not be impossible to farm/buy all needed mats on time when they are needed.

Really, if you got all exotics, ascended trinkets, whatever you really do not have to spend gold on anything. When I was making my Legendary I rarely had more that 10g in bank now I am spending 30-40g every couple of days on gems and gear for alts.

Also farming events in Orr gives you quite a lot of Heavy Moldy Bags which contain all types of T5-T6 mats.

Tip, do Clovers first and you will get a bunch of T6 too.

huh? on SFR I sometimes struggle to make it on time. Also getting there is not a problem and takes 1 min tops. Just use WP near the bridge and use gap in the wall.

getting ascended mats is not a problem in the long run. As has been said you need only 100 per day to craft time gated stuff. Problem may be with Obsidian Shards if you don’t have some stacked in bank. If I remember correctly you will need 20 of them for single weapon and if you never bought it at Balthazar temple (99% it is closed) or opened dozens of Orrian boxes you may have a problem.

I just parked 2 lvl 80 alts at LA JP wqhich gives 6-9 fragments and do the run on my main. Not the fastest way but if I had 6 lvl 80 alts it would be possible to farm bout 50 fragments just by logging on alts and picking up the chest.
On my main by doing 4 Queensdale chests + JP there, 2 LA JPs, Maguuma one (3 chests) + Scaffolding/Cave one I easily get 30-45 fragments so it is possible to “farm” 100 fragments under 1 hour. Question is why?

“Free” as you don’t have to spend gold for buying them. That problem was raised and explained so many times it’s boring.

Anyone who “farmed” Pavillion Destroyers for lodestones should have at least 3 stacks of Vicious Claws if not more. Also Scarlet invasions on higher level map give you metric crapton of loot bags that are bound to drop some T6 mats + salvaging drops also gives you ancient wood/ori/gossamer.

easy solution would be MF recipie to downgrade some mats. I have 2 alts stuffed with silk and nothing to do with it :/

Oh one more thing. Getting to 500 is not that bad. Refining obsidian/ectoplasm mats is a pain as you will spend more on T3-T5 mats than you think and current prices are quite high.

Dunno bout others but I just don’t go daily to lowbie zones to farm soft/hard wood or low tier leather/metals so I just bought it. Those mats are needed in bulks to refine 5 of each ascended mats needed to craft weapon parts/insignia.

I would advise against selling the exos you discover, because you will need to salvage exos to get the 10 globs of dark matter for the ascended weapon.

Maybe it’s just me but I did salvage some crafted exos and got only 1 Dark Matter. Then I salvaged few other I got from champ chests and got over 20 of them.

Already made my bow and working on pistol now with 11 Dark globs left. So it is not that hard.

All depends on how much “other” recipies you had discovered. For me it was relatively cheap.

I went like this (Huntsman):
400-425 – T6 refinement and discoveries (oils, runes, 2 exos)
425-450 – exo discoveries (mostly paid back as I sold all on TP for a decent price)
450-475 – ascended refinement
475-500 – exo discoveries (most expensive part tho it was partially covered by selling weapons on TP)

In total it cost me less than 75g in raw cash and T6 mats I had in bank after farming Pavillion/Scarlet Invasions.

Just refine them all into 100 bricks, then toss all the piles that you get from then on.

yeah. Just give me crapton of obsidian shards to play with. I used my whole stack I got from opening Orrian boxes (when I was making my legendary I tried everything to get Charged lodes). Balthazar temple ir rarely open or it bugs out also.

Level up magic find and they drop everywhere and off everything. Maybe I’m just having a lucky day, but they were dropping today like T5 mats used to drop with no magic find. Killed a blue ooze and a tiny blue ooze in the Frostgorge jp and got two T6 mats, just as one example. 94%, can only imagine what this is like when it’s maxed.

well. I have 154% atm and did not see massive increase of T6 drops. They do happen, sure, but not that many as they used to when I had 60% MF.

Still, running Orr champ trains + event here and there gives you enough Heavy Moldy Bags and champ boxes with stuff to salvage to give you constant supply of T6. You won’t farm whole stacks 1 day but still enough to craft stuff for yourself/alts r even make a decent profit on TP.

There is a casual loop of 6 chests in Queensdale. I’ve been running several of my 80s out there and can easily pick up 100 per day just from that zone.

I usually do LA JP with my all characters and Queensdale run. Didn’t count exactly how many I got butshould be at least 100 per day. OFC you don’t get shards every time but still it is nice, efortless income.

yeah, I was trying hard to find a difference. Compared some old screenshots even and nothing changed.

Hard to say for me because I vendored stuff as soon as it filled my bags but when I think of it it could be I never got more than some “set” amount of bags to open. On the other hand, I spent most of my time (as 99% of farmers there) killing Destroyers and those did not drop bags only T5/T6 and gear.

One of my theories was that DR was either seriously loosened or removed for this zone/event. Some time ago when I was farming mats for my legendary in Orr I could almost feel it when DR hit me, now it was not the case.

they also clearly said that any exotic recipie you bought will not be reset.

Note that with the new patch, blue and green name items will be salvageable for a chance to get items which help improve your account level magic find. So selling them may not be your only option.

Besides, if you are determined to level up your crafting proffesion quickly it is wise to salvage blue/green items to get some of the mats back for more crafting.

As mentioned above new patch may encourage to either salvage it yourself for some boost to magic find or it may happen that some items (blue/green) will reach reasonable price on TP. All depends on real rate of luck stuff salvaged from blue/green items.

Personally I doubt it will be high so blue/green items may be worth something. Still I invested some silver in 2k of blue lvl 80 helmets in hope to salvage something good after the patch

There was a massive thread where people discussed the DR but it was either moved to some dark corner of the forum or burried under new posts.

As you mentioned Pavillion. I did my share of farming there when it was freely available and noticed few interesting things. It is my feeling only but it seems that I wakitten by DR after certain amount of kills and then for 20-30 minutes I had significantly less drops of value. Then it seemed to go back to normal for some time again.

Anyway, Pavillion was a good place to test DR theories as it provided constant amount of mobs to kill and quite high boost to MF.

Funny enough, during next “chapter” of living story I farmed crapton of events (aethers ftw) and did not see ANY DR on my character at all. I mean I had dozens of rares/exos/junk and had to empty/vendor my bags 2-3 times per invasion.

also you can do a bit of WvW and buy exotics from merchants there using Badges of Honor. I think that some AP chests give you enough badges to buy at least 1 piece if not more.

could be. the actual chest you loot contains “champ box” and, usually, some other item like piece of armor or crafting material.

The only thing I don’t like about ascended weapons and change to legendaries is that we will loose sigil slot for infusion slot. While cool I believe that +4/5 power or something instead of sigil is a bad deal.

I mean some specs rely on sigils. Some sigils give you way extra damage than mere +5 power, right?

bit ago Explorers one was cheapest to make as everyone and their pets farmed Destroyers for Claws. I still have like 10 stacks of them in bank.

Depends how you understand what Colin said. I did get few cores and 2 or 3 lodes from champion bags but nothing I couldn’t get running a dungeon or farming regular mobs.
However, it is an additional way of acquiring rare crafting mats. Before, most champions barely gave blue items and junk.

TBH at the moment I am campin Crown Pavillion and farm loot bags (chance for lodestones), champ bags (rare chance for lodestones) and whatever I can (Destroyers FTW) and I got quite a lot of cores/lodes in total. In fact, I got more lodes during last few days than during the rest of my play time in game. Boring yes, profitable yes.

Guys I think you mistaking Charged Quartz with Charged Crystals and Charged Jewels.

It goes like this:
1 Charged Crystal = 25 Charged Quarts (1 per day per account)
1 Charged Crystal = 1 Charged Jewel

5 of those needed for each jewelry piece so if you have 375 Charged Quartz in your backpack you can make 15 Charged Crystals in 15 days then craft all needed rings/whatever.

I do hope so, some runes are just so kitten expensive it’s not funny anymore. Since they are in the game there must be some artisans that are able to craft them

So you actually believe that Arenanet is going to implement this new change without gimping it to the point that people will still run right past champions? That’s foolishness. Arenanet will change loot drops on champions, then make it so you can only get said loot once a day or something dumb like that. The end result will be that people will just continue to completely ignore champions.

Loot in this game is pathetic. I calculated out the loot drop rate after a week of spending half an hour a day specifically killing mobs in Orr for T6 mat drops (whether direct or through bags). The rate of return on it would net the total amount of mats needed for a legendary at around 2 years of playing half an hour a day (to avoid being punished for playing how I want to play, a.k.a. DR).
Yes, that time can be cut down by doing two zones for half an hour each, but I’m not interested in farming for an hour straight every day. There is no mythical “just play the game” method for obtaining the required materials for something like that. The best mats for the best skins and armor drop only in 3 or 4 zones in the entire game, and you don’t get them while leveling through places like Queensdale, Genderran Fields, etc.
As others have mentioned, loot in this game is often useless. At 70+, it’s pointless to even look at anything that isn’t orange, and good luck if you want to outfit yourself with yellows through game interaction. With all the crap on the yellow table, you’re lucky to even get a yellow drop that matches your profession.
Everything in this game is geared towards the gem store.
If you enjoy a challenge in various fighting circumstances, GW2 delivers (for most people). If you want to explore, it’s there for you, but god forbid you come to GW2 and want to craft things with materials you harvested yourself, because you are going to either grind until your fingers fall off, or spend years via “casual play”. Meanwhile your friends who like challenges or exploring are burned out on content in just a few months.

Mate you are sooo wrong. I play for 2-3 hours per session, 5 days a week and managed to get ALL stuff needed for legendary (Bolt) in under 4 months. That included buying Icy runestones (100g), all Mystic Clovers and buying Zap (around 400g).
Also, I didnt go into CoF more then 10 times in my entire game time. All I was doing was running around Orr, doing Live Events and fun stuff.
