exotics are exotics so there is always a chance you’ll forge a precursor

As has been said RNG is RNG. I probably wasted way over 500g in rares and barely got any Exotics not to mention Precursors.
Some ppl drop few rares and forge them and get Precursor in few tries however.

I have Bolt and it is awesome. Go for Bolt

If you unlocked personal crystal node you will still be able to mine it every day. It gives from 3 to 7-8 crystals per mine and there will always be some crystals on TP.

I doubt we will use exotics in forge to upgrade them to ascended version. Judging from blog post and some info here and there we will be upgrading/combining T1-T6 mats into T7+ (?) mats and with those we will craft ascended stuff.

My only hope is that we won’t need any Fractal stuff for crafting but it is very likely we do

Not everything. Crafting mats for lvl 400-500 (lets call them T7) range will come from combining lower level mats. So Tx + Tx = T7 for example. Could be something similar to what Jewelers do now with transmutations of crystals.

….except you can’t sell the charged crystals, or the items they create. I think Celestial is a completely separate entity from what was covered in the 2013 preview.

I have same thoughts on this. Celestial/Crystal system might be only a test how this system works.

After making my Bolt I still have almost 500 SPs on my Thief. SPs are really easy to “grind” .

I was stuck for months with this too and suddenly it got completed. I just started spamming AoEs in the area I thought some people could be put into crystals and it worked.

TBH I also parked there with most of my alts just because events there pop very often, mobs are not demanding to kill and it is quite fast to finish most of the dailies there.
At least compared to Orr there is always something to do.

Took me about 5 months of playing for 2-3 hours a day to get bout 1000g for precursor and all stuff needed to make Bolt. I farmed almost all mats myself except Charged Lodes.

If you are not in a hurry it is doable without serious CoF grind :P

So true. It’s quite interesting that such threads started to pop when some people ran out of APs → reward chests.

I feel your pain, really do, but do not ask for nerfs just because someone played more than you or decided to go for achis most of playerbase didn’t care for. If I knew that ANet will reward us for APs we gained so far I would farm bit more in different places but since I didn’t (only 5760 APs so far) it will motivate me to do things I otherwise wouldn’t do in game and I bet it will be fun.

I believe people think those achis are mandatory to gain just because they are given “in bulk” atm. I, for example, gained almost 6k APs since the start of the game, nothing serious, right? I feel that getting 1g + some stuff every day is nice but if I got them in “normal” pace I would barely notice this.
I mean I get in 12 or so days rewards I should be given in like 9(?) months of play time. At this point I must mention I didn’t farm anything. I just did dailies/monthlies, map unlocks, the usual mat farming some wvw and pvp and such. My list of achis is full of holes still. Oh and I usually played for like 2-3 hours per session not even every day (casual player).

Why complain about stuff you will get eventually? Or is it some newcomer who wants all the stuff ASAP just because he bought the game?

Quite possible. I think the same issue is when you are moved to overflow server – no WvW bonusses there.

The only real benefit (since last patch) is that you can make Celestial stuff as it is Acc Bound. OFC it all depends if you want/need such stuff.

Speaking of Jeweler, Celestial jewels can be put into any ring/earring/amulet so it is so far cheapest and easiest Celestial stuff to make and most versitale.

OFC it can be reached. If I recognise the place correctly it is near Fire Shaman event. So if you go right next to the wall there will be a path to reach that spot just bit N of the place where is the crack in the fence ppl usually use to get to Fire Shaman event without destroying that annoying gate.

You “worked” for it not knowing if you ever get any reward for it. It is not that they said at the start “farm APs and you will get awesome, uber rewards in future”, right?

Besides, we get nice skins, some extra free stuff, extra gold and god knows what else in the future. Also, you opened first THREE or FOUR chests till. If this goes on you might end up with 10 or more bonus and that is worth something. Saying that you should get 200 MF as a bonus is absurd as not many people even care for MF stat and those who run in maxed MF gear/food/buff rather do not care for more.

Personally, I am happy with this as normally I do not have more than 6% + occasional food/banner and still drop a fair share of exos/T6 so this little bonus will only help.

Again, it is free so don’t complain. If you had to pay for this that would be another matter.

Is there anything stopping you from dropping it from Race chest or buying it for those scraps? You know those kite buffs give you 1 scrap (maybe more at times) and those can be dropped even from Moas in Queensdale.

There are already satchel/box recipes on the TP.

Because you can drop recipies from: Zephyr boxes and Kite bags.

I can get well over 500 in a day roaming with the zerg for 12+ hours. All it takes is large AoE to keep on tagging as many people as you can.

I don’t get it. I started to do monthlies like 5 months after I started playing and spent most of my lvl 80 time in Orr farming stuff and still have almost 6k APs. In fact, I got last 400 or so since last patch doing almost nothing.

I mean, what I should have NOT to do in order to have less than 3k APs from playing for at least 10 months?

Just wondering… Do you need to have the recipe for Celestial Orichalcum Inscriptions/Gossamer Insignia, AND a recipe for the finished product too? I’m asking because I’ve seen recipes for each individual finished item on GW2Spidy, but past experience has been that once you have the inscription/insignia, you can discover the recipes yourself.

So basically, are Celestial weapons/armor discoverable too? Or do you have to purchase the recipe separately?

I believe so. So far I managed to get few recipes for armor parts AND insignia so most probably you need both to craft armor piece.
Preview looks like oridinary Exo armor we can craft already so no special skins here. Also Charged Crystal did not show up in discovery window.

TBH the only thing I made and will made was Jewel that fit nicely into my Ancient Karka Shell (needed only 1 glob and 1 charged crystal + ori filgree). Too bad it is ACC BOUND. Anyway, as a Thief I’d rather not kitten myself with all stat stuff except this one jewel.

Like others said, people jumping from event to event by following what pops up on gw2stuff. Thing is that events there once they start and we all know that some events take only few mins to finish. Ulgoth event, as OP stated, shows in API only when final stage is active, no pre, no first 3 stages.

If I, for example, finish Golem and see Ulgoth pop by the time I get there he is at 10% HP at best. Sometimes I barely make it to get bronze medal.

Best place is Trading Post. Seriously, I’ve been trying to farm them for 3 months with very bad luck and finally decided to just farm gold and buy them. Took me bit over a month to buy all 100 and finally I have my Bolt.

Really, it is more reliable and faster just to grind money for Pre than wait for it to drop. Not saying there are no chances, got plenty of Exos from event chests/bonus chest. Some named ones too but never ever got Precursor.

Man don’t mention Melandru chain. It is the last Orr event worth doing/farming. ANet may nerf it to the ground if they notice!

On SFR there is no problem with doing any events in Orr but since events pop so rarely there is still no point in parking yourself there.

I’d rather see something other than infusions or jewelry but, on the other hand, what else could we craft except another poor looking armor with new mix of stats?

The only other method of getting them is through Heavy Moldy Bags or Heavy Ritual Bags tho it is another RNG lottery. They also drop from mobs in Orr but since ANet nerfed events there it is not very reliable way of getting them but still an option.

I believe I had it sooo easy compared to people who started playing now. I mean getting all T6 for legendary gifts seemed easy. Now, long after I made all gifts I checked my bank and noticed I barely have 1/4 of stack for each mat… barely.

If I had to choose my farming grounds now it would go like this: few selected meta events (those fast ones that dont requre you to pay for fixing gear more than you earn) then WvW all the way.

Anet has said that the have made Southsun and Orr “interesting” for hardcore players who are looking for “challenge”. While this group appears to be highly vocal, they are largely non-existent in the game. If they were to return CS to the January update there would be many happy players in GW2; and, these players would be actual existent players. It would be great to have the old CS back.

They increased the difficulty which is a good thing. Unfortunately these very weird developers thought it would be a good idea to decrease the frequency of the events to make the zone boring and keep the rewards terrible in order to prevent people from actually going there.

I can go to Queensdale and chop down a tree and get better rewards than a lvl 83 champion in Orr.

This is so true. I still go to Orr just because I need some T6 mats and junk drops from there just sell better to vendor. But it is sooo boring. I don’t even use +MF food there because there is high chance that it will be usefull for 1 event only then I will wait for 25-30 mins till next one.

dropped items are of bit different level (in between crafted items tiers) so in terms of “better” both are good when you look at stats@level. As far as looks are considered I wouldn’t bother till you reach lvl 74+. You will change gear so quickly.

Besides it is a common opinion that crafted (standard) armors look bad.

I surely miss Orr (CS) farming and the enjoyment of killing waves of mabs for even small income. Now it has become waiting game with 80% of mobs not dropping anything because… they are spawns from other mob.

CoF farming IS boring, not very profitable most of the time and will be nerfed soon as it is the last place where players can get some cash faster than ANET allows us to get.

My way was to throw any cheap rares I got into forge. If I got exo I sold it and bought more rares for gamble. If I got Precursor I didn’t need/want I sold it also.

Not that I got many Precursors. In fact I got only 1 warhorn for zillions of rares I tossed into forge but exos I got earned me enough gold to buy Precursor I needed.

In general all good spots/events were nerfed till now. Only places where I can still see A LOT of mobs are starter areas. This makes me wonder if it is a deliberate move on ANET side to not discourage fresh players.

Funny, not long ago we had kind of riot on forums just because ppl didn’t drop enough of anything in events/farming. It WAS fixed but some time later ANET decided to make spawned mobs not to drop anything and triple (if not more) respawn timer for most events in Orr. Back to square 1? IMO it is way worse, maybe not many noticed this because Living Story events and “easy” event stuff farming.

I got total makeover kit one day but not sure if it was from daily or monthly or some BL chest.

18 Charged Lodestones? Start farming COE. It is incredibly easy once you learn Subject Alpha (count to 2, dodge) and you will get those Lodestones pretty quickly. You will gain Charged cores and the occasional lodestones while gathering gold to purchase the rest!

I do that mate tho I don’t really enjoy it. ATM I just jump all chest events (with help of gw2stuff) and make easy gold that way.

That is so true. I never considered myself hardcore grinder but I did notice how my weekly gold income was cut more than in half recently.

Sufficient to say that in last 4 months of CASUAL play I managed to get 99% of mats and gold (including a precursor which I just bought) needed for my Legendary (Bolt) and now I seem to be stuck dead. All I miss are 18 Charged lodes and since last SC event (farming was awesome then BTW) I have problems with grinding gold for that.

Sure, I could do CoF (and I do sometimes) but I have a gut feeling that it will be nerfed soon.

TBH I have no idea now. Some time ago I would suggest some AoE class + Sigil of fire and go farming CS events for Heavy Moldy Bags but now it is pointless. During this event I just run around levelling alts and sell Coffers for some profit.

Clearly ANet does not want us to make a lot of gold by “playing hte game”.

you can pull all data from GW2 API tho it is not very convenient. I also think that gw2db has all possible and not possible recipes.

As in title. Currently I am levelling few alts and everytime I spend a skill point (no matter where my character currently is) the game freezes for like 30+ seconds.

While it is not a gamebreaker it is surely annoying.
