For world stuffs and jumping puzzles, all the time.
I just use lightning flash if i want something to hit. it’s that bad :<
i’m that bad :<
@thread, yeah fix plx
Well, you’ll probably need more than a month of pure farming to get the other mats for the legendary, so what’s the issue exactly?
Also, Ascended items are account bound and not soulbound so you are kind of expected to move them around somewhat.
As I stated… I am working on ascended on all my characters as well… and at my current rate… ONLY working on a legendary would take me 4 months…. figure in the ascended stuff I am making at the same time and that brings it up to more like 6 months… assuming I am playing EVERY SINGLE DAY.
You don’t see a problem with that?
Actually I do see a problem. Finishing literally all the big goals and most of the game’s end game content – on multiple chars even – in 6 months is pretty quick in an MMO. I do like your suggestion of making it take longer and hereby support it.
/edit: I’m kidding of course. I think your post is kittening stupid. To be precise it’s not even your post that I think is stupid.
Are you really complaining that gearing multiple chars in the optional (5%) gear and THEN adding a legendary which is purely cosmetical takes 4 months?
(edited by Bawi.9541)
OTT: I disagree with nerfing water field blasts. This would be a poorly thought out solution to a nonexistent problem.
^this.
Google “eggbaron promotion spreadsheet” then come back whenever you’re out of spirit shards and thank me
The one I found uses raw data from april. Am I doing it wrong?
Air#2 is a complete joke. It takes an eternity to fire a blind, to a point where even predicting is too slow, you just throw it whenever and hope for the best.
As for the rest, I don’t have strong oppinions about those. Air#1 could be a little quicker to cast, but that’s more of a pve-tagging and convenience issue than anything else.
Yeah, but unfortunately the people who want to play that way (with that kind of stats) also demand 10 minute clear times on par with full zerker groups. Some people want not only the cake, but the plate as well.
One could say the same about zerkers – they want the same healing and defense of people who invest stats in those, while retaining their high dps.
No zerker with a brain ever wanted the same healing as someone who invested in healing. There is literally zero record of that ever happening.
Yeah, but unfortunately the people who want to play that way (with that kind of stats) also demand 10 minute clear times on par with full zerker groups. Some people want not only the cake, but the plate as well.
What about making active defenses scale over defensive stats?
Since offensive skills already do that, after all.
Uhm, in the real GW2, the one on the live servers, that everyone but you seem to be playing skillful active defense is already better than defensive stats. That’s why zerker meta is possible in the first place.
That at least would make it so that people using defensive stats have to skillfully play to reap from their stat choice (obviously, some reduction of the efficency of the passive effect of the stat would have to be implemented as well to balance it).
… what? As shown by the Arah run ^ you don’t need to play well if you run tanky healing builds. It’s either skill+zerker or AA+healingpower.
If you want both 1000+ healing power AND skill to be mandatory that would singlehandedly kill every single non-cleric/magi build. The consequence: same playstyle as today but runs take five times as long.
I’m starting to think this whole healing power discussion is one huge troll that I’m falling for.
Everything about this idea is horrible. From the very idea, over your argument and ‘data’ to your proposed implementation.
Some examples?
“That why every class have their own healing skill, but as I stated it is supplementary mechanic, additional to core healing mechanic, so it shouldn’t be as effective for those who not sacrifice a bit for it to be powerful.”
Your definition of core and supplementary is arbitrary. Just because one has a designated button doesn’t make the healing combo any less core. Also “not sacrificing a bit” is a weird definition of sacrificing utility slots and blast finishers for healing instead of damage. Last I checked you could blast for might.
“Because as supplementary healing mechanic it should be less useful by all these zerkers who didn’t invest single point into healing power.”
You are only thinking in terms of stats. That’s too one-dimensional for GW2. There are other resources: Skills slots, finisher-combos and time, and probably many more.
You are sacrificing loads of damage if you a) stop attacking b) drop water fields c) blast them over blasting fire fields. And that is assuming you have surplus blast finishers slotted in the first place, plus assuming you have water fields readily available (brb switching to water attunement, laters damage!).
“It would increase viability of more healing power focused bulids.”
You do know that the finisher heal scales off the healing power of the one blasting and not the one dropping the field, right?
That would leave like 3 classes or so to even fill your ghetto-healer role if you wanna have 1 healer per group. Or do you want to incentivize everyone in the group running healing power in the 1000++ range?
_"Lets say we begin with 700 healing done for 0 healing power. Lets say exotic primary healing stat set would provide this same healing as it is now (around 1250 HPow if i looked correctly, 1570 Healing)"
Looks like I answered my own question here. You want literally everyone who ever blasted a water field to be running around in a healing power > all set. kittening stupid is a big word, but wow, that approach is kinda mindblowing.
“With this we have enough data to equate scaling parameter, that would be 0.7.”
At the risk of sounding like a huge nerd, that kittenty cringeworthy pile of poo has nothing to do with data.
The only thing you showed is that you have literally zero understanding of GW2 mechanics. Out of curiosity, which game mode was this idea even aimed at?
Whichever difficulty you are attributing AC with, you can at least double that if you don’t bring a staff/frostbow ele.
IIRC my first dungeon run was one the the AC pathes on my condi necro. I literally didn’t join another dungeon for a full year, because of how miserable an experience it was. It didn’t help that GW2 dungeons are the opposite of intuitive, but most of all necro toolkit is painfully bad for dungeons and super unforgiving for newcomers. Try to run through the caves towards the last boss without knowing what you’re up to… the graveling mobs will make you their kitten. The ghostly graveling boss is another pug breaker if you can’t just zerker-explode it.
Someone remind me what’s the point of wasting hours deleting/creating revenants and flushing down equips to make yourself mad over a precursor you can’t keep xD
If he doesn’t like PvP, he can go into the maps that advertise themselves as for dailies as they are for PvE people and have their own rules.
rofl, this game
I crafted two weapons in two years.
Yesterday I surprised myself with how many mats just piled up in my bank/alts. I was at 460 artificing, decided to use a crafting booster and see how far I can push. As it turned out I didn’t only have enough material to reach 500 but craft a zojja staff as well.
Sometimes I love playing casually xD
Last time I played was Thursday night. Walked out of Teq with about 12 rares. Had fifteen ectos by the time I was done salvaging. RNGesus just hates you.
That’s about what I remembered getting as well. Good to hear it’s just a bad luck streak. Thanks man
how does it feel like to live in the forums/reddit?
Dude, start with one or two weapons. You are royally setting yourself up for failure like this.
k, figured i might have missed something. unlucky streak then
Did anything change with the recent patch? :|
I only got 1 ascended dagger so far. Is there consensus on which one goes in which hand in WvW?
All of the hard-hitters except for Air#1 and Fire#3 are offhand skills as far as I can tell, and condi damage is global so it doesn’t matter for Fire#2 and Earth#5 (huehuehue) etc.
If you take the opposite of everything that’s been said so far and then translate it to english you get a pretty accurate picture of the situation.
I don’t think they realize how much fun they are taking away by axing EA/EA
Fire Staff if you want to die of boredom. You can do 99% of pve by literally using fire staff #1 and #2
If you’re looking for fun I’d advise you to go zerker D/D with an offensive trait setup. Talent into water for cleanses if you need them (if that is still possible with the new trait system).
Useful skills: healing signet, air signet or windborne dagger (adept arcana), conjure GS/bow/hammer, most of the cantrips, the elite elemental for distracting mobs
Your damage comes from Air #1 and Fire cooldowns. Start in fire and use the cooldowns, then switch into either water or earth and blast the fire fields, then go to air. On the next cycle go into fire and then earth or water to blast the fire fields – whichever attunement you didn’t use the first time. This is the very basic principle of D/D imo.
Ah, didn’t think of that (it’s kinda obvious that it wouldn’t work)
Thanks
This was one of the worst ideas Arena net has recently had. I am a WvW player, after reaching level 80 on a new char I had unlocked a total of 3 traits. To complete even 1 build I would either have to do PvE (which I really don’t like) or spend gold (that I don’t really have, because I don’t do PvE) not to mention the skill points that I just wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for the scrolls. The new char got benched, I will probably never level anything else and I am stuck with only 1 char that I actually play. I can’t try anything new. Because of that I cannot in clear conscience recommend this game to any of my friends, I just can’t promise that they would have any fun, if they have to spend hours after hours after reaching level 80 to even complete one talent build.
I’m picking on this one sentence here, because it shows how little sense is in some of the comments against the new system: It would be a problem if I didn’t have the skill points but I do!!111
So… where’s the problem again?
Honestly, it takes a lot of good will to not just laugh in the faces of everyone arguing against the system as a whole.
Oh, and 10gold say it’s the EotM traits that were unlocked here ^-^v
Can you transmute it ‘back’ so the look and item name match again and then mystic forge upgrade it?
//edit: I’m talking about transmuted Spinal Blades.
Changing the look doesn’t affect your ability to mystic forge it either.
So what’s with all the transmute talk that I keep reading in this context? Misinformation?
Just make it cosmetic. It’s annoying to have to think about which of your equips’ rune sets shall work underwater… only to come to the conclusion that underwater combat is easy and kitten, so you just keep your white aquabreather that you got at level 1.
i didnt even read the op. always open your own instances. the (pug) community is disgusting in big parts.
thank me later
I blame dulfy .__.
aaand I personally seem to get better loot from the pres than from the actual boss. I don’t kill world event bosses often so that may be a sample size problem.

Condition cleanse:
Necro – 3 Corruption utility skills, spam on self or target, then Consume Condition (or transfer to a target if that’s part of the dailies).
or inquest bombs which use dragon energy
xD
legionnaire from the TP
I moved the attunements 1 button to the right. It’s not pretty but it works :]
e for dodge, r f t for utilities
q still bound to weapon swap, which is cool for engi but the definition of meh for ele
Either this is some kind of super elaborate meta (not the ingame meaning) troll or the OP doesn’t even realize how much his video proves the point he’s trying to question.
For Fresh Air I don’t know about guides, but you’ll find some funny videos on youtube.
The center of the build is switching back to air every few (<5) seconds, to use air#2 and the attunement swap burst (15 point air or something). Add some arcane utility skills for good measure. Think Dragons Tooth, Phoenix, Air15, Arcane Wave, Lightning Strike, Air Sigil hitting at the same time. gg whoever decided to facetank that.
You can use the multihit air#1 skillto switch to other attunements while it channels and use its high frequency/critchance to proc fresh air quickly.
Basically, just read all the tooltips. The build and playstyle is rather... obvious :P
Might as well go zerk/scholar. I tend to either be at 100% or 0% HP ^_^v
Yeah, that’s what I was saying. You can’t control the gear other people wear, so that’s a moot point.
… You are actually right. Ele has more blast finishers than water fields (I’m way too used to engi it seems), so going healing power to blast water fields could work. Well, as good as a dedicated healer in gw2 can work
I like the ‘Ice’ colors for cloth gear. It’s a hue available for different colors, most of them quite cheap because they are super common.
Pyre if you’ve got some gold liing (lying?) around.
I wonder if there’s a dude somewhere in the world frantically buy/reselling those colors trying to make some cash now ^^
I feel like I’m WAY too close to a permban to express my thoughts, so here goes:
Maybe you enjoy world completion or spvp or WvW
I’m toying with Dwayna for the traited regen -> condi remove on ele.
A big part of gw2 healing is still blasting water fields, which does not (afaik) scale with your healing power. That is why I went with utility, which does not scale with anything anyway (good tip when having below-average equip in pretty much any MMO :O)

I love it. It’s how it should have been all along.
Beginners are guided around the world (and the wiki and dulfy
) and can unlock all the traits one by one.
People that have been around for a while will prolly be bored of all the same tasks (jk everyone’s doing farming runs all day anyway) and just dish out some coin for the traits they know they will need/like.
I don’t agree with when the different tiers are unlocked, but that’s really minor.
tl/dr A huge leap in the right direction. Smooth out the timing of unlocking trait-tiers and it’s A+
(edited by Bawi.9541)
thanks
Best way to do it is aim the phoenix behind your target so that the target is still in the targeting circle, right?
The phoenix’ blast determines the location of the area might effect, as long as the blast happens in a fire field, right?
Fire field, dodge roll into earth attunement (3, 6 with battle sigil), earth #4 (9), water #3 (12)
And that doesn’t even take into account a single crit (strength sigil) and the fact that those stack last longer than the (internal) cooldowns. So the stacks overlap, generating the 20+ might counts.
Disclaimer: I’m new to ele but that’s what I found out beating up some golems.
Trait unlocking system: I like it a lot!!
Really good idea and it’s a lot of fun to be revarded with this kind of character progresseion for discovering the game world!
The pace of trait point acquisition is a little weird though. At 30 you get elite skills plus the trait system. Then you get nothing big until 60 (tier 2 traits), then at 80 you get tier 3 plus endgame gear plus dungeons etc. So lvl 30 and 80 are overkill when it comes to new stuff an 31~59 feels a little stale in comparison.
Plus there’s the issue of T1 traits requiring lvl 60++ content to unlock. It’s gotten better after the change but some requirements still feel extremely out of place.
It feels a little too focused on the last levels (2 trait points at 78 and at 80, really? :<).
I love the concept though.
(edited by Bawi.9541)
I’d say go dagger/dagger and keep a somewhat up-to-date staff in your bags. I like it for soloing elites/champs if there’s no one else around. Build can be adjusted on the fly, so go with what you got (major trait have to be unlocked so we can’t help really – I’m liking arcane and fire for what it’s worth).
Get signet of air asap. Get aether renewal even if you default another heal skill, or else kittening lvl 2 spiders can be life-threatening with their poison.
^I agree about the summoned weapons.
Fiery Greatsword for getting around the map.
Check which maps give good major traits: Gendarran Fields, Lornar’s Pass, EotM Zerg for a bit etc.
Power > Prec > Ferocity while leveling, just burn kitten to the ground, that’s your gear’s contribution to survivability.
Sigils of Bloodlust help a ton, on-crit is not worth it in the beginning.
First ascended amulet(s) (use laurels + wvw badges if you wvw), then whatever really
Life is getting easier for new players. As player to player trade price level rises (TP) the price level of npc purchases diminishes (kits, trait books, tier 1/2/3 skins).
Another thing I found that reminded me of this topic was this:
Try to solo http://wiki-en.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_the_champion_%28Champion_Ice_Wurm,_Lornar%27s_Pass%29 (It opens one of the traits for characters that were started post feature patch).
The big one attacks every 9’ish seconds so bring some extra immunities (i used staff fire #4). There is a ‘hiding spot’ where the respawning trash wurm don’t aggro and you can concentrate on the boss – unless you get hit by the big wurm even once, which by the way takes off ~80% of your HP. Plus the attack’s impact is quite a bit later than the animation suggests, so there’s that xD
[bragging warning :P]
I was level 30 or 31 at the time with average power/prec gear, so the fight was long enough for trash mobs to respawn. (I was actually hit by the big one when it was around 5% HP and another wurm aggro’ed. Luckily their attacks where somewhat syncronized so I could dodge both in one roll.)
Is that the “I use cuteness as a weapon, but baby dolyak take that to the next level” kinda dialog?
Gotta agree :P
Same here. 100% on Queensdale, and I’m lvl 13. I did 3 (?) personal story parts so far.
What I do is complete some of the other starter zones; at least I try and grab the easy skill points.
terrormancer, fearmancer is something you could google. (6/4/0/0/4) or more rarely (0/4/6/0/4)
