You assume 0 starting clones from the mesmer at the start. The mesmer isn’t always going to burst without any clones to start with. The thief on the other hand doesn’t have any way to boost their burst apart from what you’ve already said.

What if Im so smart I get stealth from thief, load up my earth 5 and open with lighting flash mid-cast to target and hit a lucky 4-5k with 8 stacks bleed? Not to mention I still need to start in fire hue.
You can see the earth 5 red circle and animation even if the ele is stealthed…

You’d kill off your high-end teams pretty quickly when barring them from the only tournaments with monetary rewards.
Barring from a single cup a month. One might argue that the high end teams are dying quickly because only one team is consistently getting the monetary rewards.
To clarify, I’m suggesting that the winner of a monthly is barred from the following weekly but can play in the rest of them after that one weekly.
The winner of a monthly cup is barred from the next cup. This allows other teams one chance per month to win a cup rather than having one team (abjured) farming every cup.
The NA cup yesterday had close matches in almost every matchup and was more fun to watch. It also gave the lower seeded teams a chance to show their worth, who would usually be seeded again abjured in round 1 or 2 and subsequently rolled over without a chance.
1st EU pugquest and it already has more signups than the NA pugquest. Maybe if NA players put more effort in, there’d be more decent NA teams around.

I can’t say I’ve ever died to a mesmer on point as bunker guard, unless I started with 0 cooldowns and 50% hp.
If you want to help, staff ele gives some might perma fury along with high damage so yes.
If you gonna camp water to be a “healer” then no.
Ermagerd those people. It isn’t even the most effective way to be a ‘healer’ since you want the extra blast and reflects from earth.

If a mesmer or thief tries to keep a point capped vs a bunker guard, he’ll either lose the point or eventually die. Possibly power ranger too, never fought one as bunker guard though.
mesmer can’t portal his team across the map once per minute. learn to get your facts right !!!
Portal skill has 72 second cd. Cd starts when portal is opened, so it only has 62 second downtime or 60 second when traited. Learn to get your facts right.

Fir/Air sigils and Mirror Blade are actually what makes mesmer GS viable. With both nerfed, its damage has been heavily reduced (by ~25%, i’d say) and it now suffers even more from offering no defense.
Yes – blind spam, as many stealths as a thief, 2 second invuln on a 12 second cd equates to no defense, protection uptime from the first two chaos minor traits and PU (thieves have no prot) equates to no defense.
I agree, 4 thieves should never be on a team together because that team can’t hold any points and is almost a sure loss. Fortunately the screenshotted team went against a team that didn’t know how to play.
Honestly in the past, only pve warrior went for 3 pts for FH and maximize power and critical line
Hambow and Shoutbow (the true warrior tanky pvp build) always went for the entire discipline line, to take Burst Mastery
Discipline line is not bad, it has really good traits.
It’s not that Discipline is bad, it’s that we’re FORCED into taking it just to get one minor trait. I have several build ideas using Strength – Defense – Tactics or Arms – Defense – Tactics but none of them work right now because they don’t work without the fast weapon swaps. So many combos rely on fast swaps.
Sounds like eles with the arcane line, which they are FORCED into for Elemental Attunement. Or thieves being FORCED into the Steal line to make Steal actually do something in PVP. Probably a lot of other classes also have this problem.
Or mesmers with the illusions line, which they are FORCED into for illusionary persona. Oh wait…

Add 150 points to power and subtract 150 from precision. It makes no sense that soldier amulet does more damage to treb and gates and subtracting 150 from prec would give it the same prec as zerker anyway.
Staff used to be way more viable than it is now, you used to be able to have a berserker amulet and manage to survive. Now even with a maurauder you get 1-2-shot by any average mesmer, warrior rampage, thief, etc.
Name one team that won a tournament with a zerk staff ele.
Condition builds already utilise precision – name me one viable condition build that doesn’t benefit from precision to stack condis.
What they need is a third offensive condition stat like power does.
Ele has d/d, d/f, staff that are all viable. Thief has d/p only.
Mesmer….I’ve had my character stunned and been downed in one go without a thing I can do about it on some classes. While they have better survivability than a thief… I like playing my mesmer but…they need some toning down somewhere.
Not only do they have better damage and survivability than a thief, their portal on top of this makes the class even more ridiculous.
almost anything can counter “MESEMER” not just useless melee. one trick pony thieves can counter some builds. The best way to counter “mesemer” as a “mesemer”. is actually with condi build but one also has too much counterplay like diamond skin sigh.
Power mantra shatter actually does quite well vs condi mesmer because they have enough cleanses to buy enough time to nuke the condi mesmer.
No counter play to ele, mesmer or thief to be honest. Its all sad
