I’ve played WAY less than 400 hours & use no magic find & have found loads of exotics off Champs, Vets & regs (I believe). The other day I got 2 exotics for a map completion. The drop rate could be increased for chests, but it’s not a big deal for me.

Not sure why you can’t seem to find any.

for a map completion ? im talking about pure open world drops

Chests ARNT DROPS.

I never said i can’t find any exotics, all my 3 lvl 80s have full exotics and ive got many from dungeon tokens and wvw tokens.

Please read my post before commenting.

I’ve got exotics from things other then drops people.

And i dont like magic find, ive never used it and never will, it shouldn’t be required.

Ive played for probably 400 hours and ive never seen an exotic drop, now all 3 of my lvl 80s have FULL exotic items, but these were all bought from gold and dungeon tokens.

Heres what gw2 lacks *compared to every other mmo / rpg ive played:

1) Champions / hard units Need to have higher drop rates

2) All trash mobs need to have drop rates that allow for exotics (including high level mats) to drop rarely
if number 2 does exist then the droprate is too too low

3) Their needs to be better vairety of exotic high detailed skins that you can find from exploring the world.

4) More exotic / endgame skins that are found in certaint open world areas

5) Exotic / high endgame skinned items that have unique abilities

6) End game items that are obtained by killing openworld bosses (example: Say anet adds a new undead boss in a mini dungeon, he wields a sword that has corrupted him and is unique to him only, make their a chance he will drop it, for this to work their has too be much more bosses that have this function
Number 7 was in gw1 so don’t say this doesn’t belong

7) Just more “medium cost”a (8-30gold) weapon/armor skins that can be dropped rarely by ANY mob in the game, with ofcourse higher chances to drop according to the difficulty of the enemy you killed

I am against threads that just are complaints and do not offer solutions ideas, so heres mine, right now it just seems not worth it to go explore different areas and actually kill stuff since that usually results in money lost and or / time wasted on killing trash or even champions / bosses.

When i go to the tp i see either low cost exotics in the range of 1-10 gold and redic. expansive exotics (and or legendarys) which cost over 30 gold.

We need more filler inbewteen the rediculess expensive and the cheap, IMO in the range of 10gold to 60 gold as IMO this is the range for the general non super hardcore players to buy stuff (at this current time in the economy timeline).

Second is that open world enemies need to feal like they actually have RNG d2 as an example you could get a awesome drop from a max level trash mob, if this happend though, YOU WERE EXTREMELY LUCKY like really lucky, we need these scenarios to happen so theirs a sence of winning the lottery sometimes.

ALSO why do harder enemies (inlcuding normal hard enemies / champions / mini bosses / bosses not have a higher chance to drop good loot? IMO they should have a better chance.

And lastely make some areas / enemies / mini bosses / drop unique to them weapons now this could goas far as just a specific area dropping a specific weapon armor type to bosses dropping their own weapon much like gw1. This would give people to go to certaint areas to obtain that type of weapon armor they wont. This would also encourage people to explore different areas and for having bosses drop their own weapons encourage people to kill open world bosses as well.

So the unique weapons dropped from bosses wouldn’t be as rare as say the weapons dropped only in that area example : Icey Dragon Sword could drop from any mobs in the lvl 80 snowy area, with an increased chance to drop from ANY harder enemies in that area.
ALSO in that area is a boss called “Undead Dark Frost knight” He wields the “The FrostBite” Which is a unique greatsword that has a inque skin and a unique stat in place of the sigil that 45 percent chance on crit to apply cold to the enemy,

now hear me out i know sigil of cold (or whatever is called) does the same thing but is only 30 percent chance on crit, thing is these items could be un modifieable so the extra 15 percent pertaints to the uniquness of the skin but also is a tiny bit stronger but sacrificing customization.

The special unique stat inplace of the sigil’s spot could be somthing totally unique i just failed to come up with something that would still be ballenced. Keep in mind these items wouldnt be used in pvp (except wvw) so theirs no qq.

happends to me, best bet is to wish it goes away for a little (it does this for me)

The thing that scares me is ive made 2 threads on this in this sub section and ive got very little replies

Yet when i ask ingame everyones telling me their experincing horrible somtimes gamebreaking lag

I kno for me its almost unplayable.

Ingame screen flickers once - overclocking

I don’t think this is a voltage problem as i don’t get any atrifacts PLUS my temps arn’t high at all.

So when ingame, only when overclocked even by a little my screen will turn off then on, this ONLY HAPPENS ONCE i even think somthing might be happening where my overclocks (msi afterburner) revert back to stock speeds, thing is my temps are VERY low and it does it even when i do slight overclocks. When the screen turns of real quickly, it shows in the corner my resolution and stuff just like if i were to turn the t.v on or off or go to a different output mode (or change the resolution)

Note: This could be more of a general problem and not just gw2, but anyways anyone know why this is happening?

I really need to have my gtx650ti overclocked if i want to run settings on ultra with 40-80 fps at my resolution (i use a reso thats native, its between 720 and 1080).

Whats happening? Only this game i have been havning unplayable lag off and on.

Its not my internet and i can play any other game / stream / ect just fine.

Sometimes its worse then others but 50 percent of the time its actually unplayble.

Don’t even get me started on being disc’ed during high level fractals .

Is anyone els having this problem?

they use all different ones or the default ones. Ive seen different dyes on different chars, but a lot of them tend to use the dyes they come with also. Dye is somthing thats not inclusive to a certaint armor or armor type worn by group.

Actually if u dodge foward, if your good and have fast reflexes, u only have to turn around 360 ( or is it 180) and ur back attacking, and its worth it to half a second of no dps for 1 second invuln.

Recent server lag / Disc. Errors

The past 5-10ish days me and many guildies have been getting bad server lag where the game will freeze (lag freeze not software issue) and then either 1) the game will stay frozen for a nice minute or so then disconect and i will get a client lost connection to server error message OR 2) I will wait 20 seconds then the game will “unlag freeze” which will make everything that happend in the past zoom by thus returning to where i was BUT this causes me to die a lot and happens too frequently to be excused.

Why is this happening? It never used to and no its NOT on my end ive checked this and ruled it out.

Im on Tarnished Coast btw, not that it matters.

TL;DR Version : This extreme server lag that has started 5-10ish days ago, is getting worse and more unplayable by the day, its not my internet connection as everytime this happends, i minimize and try to play a movie while the game is still frozen with lag.

Melee is Not "Worth it" With some bosses

Depends on the boss in dungeons, its hit miss some or acceptable for melee (as in its still hard but you dont have to dodge every 0.5 seconds so ur not doing any damage, but u still have to pay attention to telegraphs and such.

And i don’t mean its just higher risk/reward, i mean some bosses are impossible to melee by impossible i either mean you literally cant hit him with melee
(example: Some of the dragons) or its so hard that you do so little damage melee since your spending most of your time dodging attacks possibly getting like 2 hits in then dodging dodging dodging, go in to 2 hits doge doge, Or the boss literally just owns all melee and his moves arnt telegrahped and he insta kills you.

Priest of Balthazar (the one guardian balthazars temple) Hes pointless to go melee on because the way he works.

I understand melee usually does more damage ( is this even really true? ) And is supposed to be harder to master, thats cool i love that idea, but when range becomes so much more efficent that theirs no point to melee then theirs a problem.

Now most classes are fine with this, even warriors they get GREAT ranged weapons / skill, but what about my main, a guardian? I feal so gimped since the only ranged option i have is the sceptor which not only is just boring to play with, its balls of light move so slow that even bosses dodge out of them – This is my only ranged option, and i usually roll with staff / sword, staff is basicly an aoe melee weapon with a tiny bit of ranged so that doesn’t count.

I’de love to be able to have melee viable in all situations if you have the skill, but when at some points in the game melee just becomes not worth your efort is when theirs a big problem IMO.

Look at WoW ( no, im not a wow player ) melee their gets a defensive buff i think 15 percent less damage taken. Im not saying we need somthing exactly like that but i think we need somthing, maybe make more of the bosses anti melee attacks telegraphed with a bigger animation, or make it fair and even so its not just melee that has to deal with three times as much attacks.

Ranged weapons usually only get effected by 1 or 2 boss attacks, often melee has like 10 to dodge, which some times works fine, others it just becomes pointless to bother when you can sit their and do sustainted damage.

Either do this or if you want the ranged to stay more viable overall in lots of places then just give guardians a proper ranged weapon please.

Its not fair that i as a guardian have to sit out of dragon fights, not be able to do ranged in wvw (sceptors even worse in pvp/wvw) while every other class can do what i do (Melee) AND have ranged.

I didn’t post this in guardian forums because this effects all classes, and im just using playing a guardian main to show how unfair it is.

I highly disbelieve that giving us a proper ranged weapon would make us o.p i mean our health is already inherently low, we dont have the BEST DPS when specced it (although we can do good dps if specced right)

Listed such things wouldnt turn this game ino a numbers game, and im not suggestin gthem to go too hard core but some of their vital information IS missing, like say you have runes sigils and some traits that all change your boon time (say ex; increasing retailation duration by 25 percent, then you have a rune / sigil that adds to it too, or you have a bunch of things adding to your condition duration, this stuff is nice to see.

This game isnt a numbers game because skills are dodge able and this game requires placement and siutational awareness more then just raw numbers.

You’re an odd man, the way you phrase some of your posts, and then others seem almost like two different people talking :O .

yea, my first post was not thought out seriously. it was just a starting post to get my post across. and i didn’t have enough sleep when i posted that, iirc.

what i meant was that “when i use WoR on a melee boss, the other guard looks afk at first and then he disconnects.” it was an anecdotal quote.

The last 2 successive posts were not me replying to myself. it was another post to update the thread. just to be clear about that lol.

I still don’t get what you mean by the that. I know exactly what you SAID so let me get this straight – a large ammount of other guardians will pretend to be afk then disconect when you use WoR on a melee boss? I find that highlely unlikely since bosses are usually end or mid dungeon plus i rarely get people disconect at all.

You know burn stacks in duration right, meaning dont put too much into burn.

And atm theirs no other way then testing ingame yourself for that unfortunately, it would be nice if ALL skills showed duration time that includes added bonsus’s.

Anet needs duration: xxx on every skill to show duration of the effect, and duration of the animation.

Hopefully they will add all these things in the future thus getting rid of the need for us to test in game with crude ways.

ps ; Don’t other games show things as this in said skills tooltip?

Does empowering might (trait) stack with wrathful strike (greatsword skill slot 1, 3rd auto attack chain) it seems to not be stacking as i constantly have 1-2 might when attacking, without using utlities, then again perhaps it is.

Magic find is an old stat that needs to be gotten rid of, their can be better and other ways to increase your magic find without having to make it an armor stat, (food, temporary buffs, temporary rewards for doing certaint things, making magic find buffs drop randomly)

Sword shield is too situational hence why if im using this build i use sword/focus as stated,

And i never said you lack skill just that your a bit “close minded” when it comes to fringe builds.

I Could of posted my current build i use which is a meditation build, but everyone and their mother knows the basics of this build, although mine is slightly tweaked as i hate running builds everyone uses, its the secret out of the box ones that are constantly changing the meta.

Its not a game changer because this requires use of many different things, its not just click one skill and auto attack for 15k, you have to get the stacks of vuln on and get all your might then manage to get zealots defence off and hit, try it i garentee you’ll see decent numbers, skilled players will possibly dodge zealots defence, or will use get the hell outta dodge once they have 20 stacks of invuln on them plus their blinded and its not 15k per hit its 15k damage once the burst is DONE zealots defence is a fast burst of 8 attacks , animation to fully end takes 1 – 1.5 seconds (its prtty darn fast though)

Perhaps im thinking too much like a gw1 player, but ive defended the build enough and you have your opinion,

Not to metion that I gave my armor as an example and you still kept talking about 15-20k dmg nonsense xD and now you tell me that you do that to pitty mesmers and elementalists. Or glass cannons. I’m sorry but this build has nothing interesting in it, I wish you best of luck in this game, and I hope you don’t emoquit if you meet a properly built GS guardi or hammer guardi in that regard

PS: Also some dude around here (forums) had tested the single target sword gs and hammer damage, and sword came on top with so little damage bonus, that it doesn’t matter. I wouldn’t call that better DPS at single target. I guess its mainly by the third attack because it makes a projectile like triple shot, but its extremely hard to land all 3 on a moving target, so c:

PS2: I also do some sPvP and I’ve never seen sword guardian there. So either you are somekind of genius and all the sPvPers are stupid, or there is something fishy about your build that you are not telling maybe because of pride or ego, i dont know, quite frankly i dont care ^^

If you would actually read what i said, i don’t use this build for spvp, also most spvpers use flavor of the month builds, hence why not every spvper is a pro spvper.

If you don’t like the build good for you, i never said sword was better then greatsword, for this build it is in my opinion.

Also i do just fine with the build and have a high kill to death ratio, and i have tried every flavor of the month guardian build plus ive made a bunch of my own, this build is somthing different that works just because you have l2p issues doesn’t mean a different non flavor of the month build is useless.

And you cant flame me if you havn’t even read my full post, or you wouldn’t be be saying i claim to be some Spvp god *when i said the build isn’t used for Spvp/tpvp" and if it were to be, you’d atleast need more conditon removal.

Also stacking 20 vulnerability and 15 might then having an 8 attack burst that does 10k(Heavy toughness spec) -15K DMG to 15-25 (medium – low spec) all in 1.5 seconds isn’t bringing nothing to the table ive posted this build because ive never seen anything similair and i’m sick of playing greatsword with all these cookie cutter guardians.

I bet you run someone els’s build theirs no way you could come up with your own if you think anything other then FOTM (NOT FRACTALS) builds are viable.

Yes greatsword is better for amost all builds, but for this specific build which requires 2 blinds on one weapon 1-5 skillbar set sword /focus is the way to go, and yes sword/focus / greatsword probably would work best on this build, but im trying to make somthing different here.

Hint: its not the build that makes the player good, its how you play a said build.

cripple on flashing blade would be nice, as we lack any snares except on sceptor, i disagree with sword doing less damage, in tests sword does more single target damage then greatsword… i run with sword/focus / staff, and the one thing i do miss for sure is a snare type ability its the main drawback of a guardian that doesnt use greatsword, hence why EVERY guardian uses it.

lol i know what your talkin about, my girlfriend thought she caught me watching porn but really i had the game minimized with the sound still on, go to your sound options and click the option that disables sound when minimized, that will fix half your problem.

Yes i love dodging out of zealot defense spamming whirl of wrath on the likes of you with my 3400 armor bunkered guardian ^^

And i love dodging out of ur whirling wrath while i tank your damage since im tanky enough to not have to worry about a bunker build trying to kill me, but with my 2-4k dmg auto attacks (4.5k when i got 20stacks of might and even more when i get my 19 stacks of invuln on you WHICH I WILL DO) 15-25k damage bursts, YOU DO have to be worried about me.

You can’t possibly claim and believe that single sword has better damage burst than GS. If you do, I’ll really add your thread to my list of “never come back”. Fact is, I can move while I’m whirling, you can’t while you are in zealot defense, enough said. Not to mention that your third normal attack is quite buggy if your target is walking around you. Also, alone you can never meet 20 stack of might alone, even with the 12 staff stacks. 15-20k damage burst … so what, you like … 1-shot people? Oh excuse me oh great one

Zealots defence is half a second of an attack, plus it blocks projectiles and its pretty easy to get 20 stacks of might, if actually read my whole thread, i tell you how to get 20 stacks of might.

I will make a video if we have other naysayers here you just need to be traited right and use the right sigils and skills.

Also i zealots defence isn’t 1 shot its a rapid attack of a bunch that adds up to the damage, and it takes A LOT of pre-planning to get the 15-20k damage and the 20k damage is only on soft targets without a lot of armor.

You obvoisly have no idea what your talking about claiming the sword isn’t good at burst dps and the number 3 skill has never been buggy for me infact its great at hitting targets that are out of normal melee range.

Add this to your “list of never come back thread” no one here wants someone who flames and talks about stuff they have no clue about.

Focus gives me added surviability and 1 hand strength gives me plus 15 crit chance. The 1hand sword does more damage then the greatsword as far as single target damage is concerned, And in my experince stacks might even faster with the might trait and sigil of strength since attack number 3 hits 3 times and often crits 3 times, although the dumb internal cooldown is a pain.

After the fact that 1hand sword does more damage, the fact that i have ANOTHER blind that also adds vulnerability with focus ray of light skill plus flashing blade that blinds and add vulnerability, and the right hand strength which allows me to stack even more power with out having to worry about my crit chance being low,
theirs just no competition between sword and greatsword for this build.

Not to mention EVERYONE uses the greatsword and its getting rediculess

this build works great for wvw i don’t play other types of pvp so can’t comfirm their.

You guys saying greatsword would be better for a damage build need to look at the numbers which show greatsword is the highest single target damage dealer and fully read my build guide which states its about applying vulnerability for max damage, sword / focus combo has TWO blinds which both also stack vulnerability when traited.

The sword has better single target burst, while the GS is more AoE. Zealot’s Defense also blocks ranged attacks.

Also it’s possible to get to 20 stacks of might alone with the right traits, runes, and sigils. Shelter w/Might of the Protector alone can get you +10 if you use it at the right time.

Condition removal hasn’t been to much of a problem honestly, you just reminded me that is my other weakness but i use this build for pve / dungeons / wvw and honestly my signit ALONG with all my heals is enough to offset conditions just pop all your some regeneration utility skills (your virtues give u this also) and use regen to offset conditions long enough for them to be removed.

Most people arnt soley applying conditions to only me in WvW, when i go into pvp WHICH THIS BUILD ISN’T TESTED IN AT ALL. I may have to modify my condition removal,

but so far you have your staff empower move to heal loss dmg, save yourself/hold the line/Focus ray of light to offset conditions with regen, two of your virtues give you some sort of heal and or regen, and you can dodge to heal, using these in wvw / dungeons / pvp is enough to last 10 seconds without losing to much life while your signit auto removes conditions, plus with 17k hp your not that soft against DoT type attacks.

EDIT: So for wvw i find i got just enough condition removal with 17k hp and a kitten load of healz (lol i just type kitten now) im fine.

I dont pvp since pvp completely negates my hard work for my armor and seperates the community into 2 and breaks immersion, no if i want small scale pvp ill just pvp in wvw in small skrimish areas like jumpin puzzle,

Arah is never open

How can i get my Orrian armor if the waypoint is always contested? This needs a fix, pre-fotm this was a cool idea but now, no one bothers with it.

A.net as much as i hate saying this, atleast for dungeons WE NEED A HOTJOIN FUNCTION LIKE WOW.

I usually try to find a group for arah (or other non a.c / cm dungeons) every day then give up after an hour after looking, ive spent at least 8 hours lfg for dungeons like s.e, coh,coe,arah, ta, and have yet to play any of them since i got to a higher level just after fractals was released.

(Im an “alt – kitten” i leveld 5 chars to 50 before i decided on my main)*

Notes

I switch stand your ground out sometimes for; Retreat, if im just running in WvW, Sometimes Wall of Reflection too, when i want to use wall of reflection i sometimes also change my virtue 10 trait to concecrations ground target, sometimes i even change it to “Retalitory subconscious” which gives Ret. When knocked down,stunned,imobalized.

Your Virtue 10 trait slot is very situational and your number 7 Utility slot is also situational and i switch it around a lot, although in pve and general wvw i tend to keep it as Stand Your Ground.

Items

Armor: All power toughness vitality a.c gear stats with ruby orbs
Trinkets: Mix of power / precision / toughness and power/ vit/ crit damage with a mix of 2 exquisite emeralds and 2 exquisite beryl jewels, i use 1 ancient karka shell for some healing power, but all this doesn’t need to be exact, for maximum efficiency or if you’re confused, just try to get the stats i post below as they are optimal:

Weapons
1 hand sword with Power Prec Toughness + Sigil of strength (for more might on crit)
Focus with Power Prec Crit + Sigil of force (although im experimenting with sigil of frost)

Staff with Power Prec Toughness + Sigil of energy (use sigil of energy when escaping / mitigating damage, basicly its an extra damage mitigation skill and panic skill to use to your advantage)

The only weakness so far to the class is a player who can debuff all your buffs or outrun you, now if using your staff swiftness kill, flashing blade and stand your ground you you should be able to get your full burst rotation off, which will take a decent chunk of hp, then you have 10 seconds until your next flashing blade, if your foe is fleeing i would switch to staff use swiftness skill chase them until the 10 second recharge on flashing blade is up and repeat your burst rotation.

Try to use a similair technique for escaping, you WILL have problems escaping some enemies but your best bet is not to get into a situation where you have to escape in the first place, a lot of times if your outnumbered by a small ammount your better off staying and fighting and have a better chance to win if you do just that, then running away while they slowly pick you off.

So i’m the sort of guy that likes to help my teamates AND be able to get stuff done on my own, This build is a hybrid of a dps/support/tank.

The idea is your utilties are used to buff you and your allies, you will always be constantly buffed, you can also use all your shouts and virtues at once if you wish to run into a zerg and unleash some pain, then using renewed focus and again your traited virtues to escape.

This is just one way you can use your massive buffs, if your in a long battle and want to sustain your position for a while then perhaps using buffs one by one , or two by two may be better.

If you want spike damage use ray of judgement, then flashing blade in, and then use your traited virtue of justice, what this does is stacks 15 stacks of vulnerability on your selected target as each blind (you did 3) gives them more vulnerability, youe virtue of justice gives you might aswell as blinds and puts vulnerability,

BUT THEIRS MORE
Your traited so you do more damage to thngs under conditions so ontop of your MIGHT from virtues and your TRAITED MIGHT PROC ON CRIT (plus sigil of strength for more might proc on crit x2) AND YOUR 15 STACKS OF VULN you do 10 percent more damage to things that have a condition on them, your virute of justice applies burning, you then use your number 3 sword burst skill after you flashing bladed in you use your number 3 sword burst skill zealots defence.
Before you flashing blade in i would recomend using (traited) virtue of resovle and virute of courage, just for added protection and since your probably going to want to use renwed focus after the burst.

*Your Skill Rotation usually should look somthing like this:

[Optional: use Staff skill: Empower before you pop off ray of judgement]

Ray of judgement, flashing blade into target, use virtue of judgement, pop off save yourselves use zealots defence.

these chain should : give about 19 stacks of vulnerability, give you 15-25 stacks of might (depending on how well your 56 %chance to crit plays out, and if you use the staff skill empowering might before hand)

then you can either use renewed focus and apply ANOTHER burning and might giver
and then use virtue of resolve and virtue of courage to stay in the battle or use your defensive virtues to help you escape.

Now you can choose to use all your defensive shouts before you flashing blade in or save them for after, or do some before some after, your defensive abilities alow you to do this into enemy zergs,

Your damage skills are almost only your weapon skills, but man with 1 hand sword and 1 hand strength your going to have 41 plus 15 (R.H.S) so you have 56 crit chance with about 50 crit damage , plus a boatload of power, your damage should be exelent while still having 17k hp and 2800 armor.

Gw2 is all about hybrid builds, this build works just as good by itself as it does with others, theirs ONE weakness that im working on and can sort of be supplemented with a ice sigil in your weapon, which is catching targets. With Flashing blade and your high damage, plus using the staff speed buff, its not always too bad and i usually can catch the people.

Although look at it this way, if you have people always running away from you, your doing somthing right.

Your kidding right? so your complaining about t.p prices (aka inflation) and you want to make mf to gf? That would make gold prices inflate WAY more then currently.I ts funny because your “fix” would make prices skyrocket even higher, since if mf went to gf, people who used gold find would be getting even more gold and getting less items which would make prices of everything sky rocket, which would then HEAVILY punish players without gold find even more then magic find does now.
( i dont think the prices are that bad, for most items)

To Thread readers (TL;DR version)

Changing mf to gf wouldn’t do anything. Think about it, also no most of the people who HAVE HUGE AMMOUNTS OF GOLD are using mf to find those “jackpot” exotic items.

But changing gf to mf wouldn’t do much, i dont understand how you can think thats a good idea.

My gripe with magic find is its a boring stat that discourages group play, and makes mediocre players turn into horrible players all just because they feal forced to use mf gear if they want to find good gear like the rest of the croud.

Magic find is bad because it doesn’t contribute anything productive except to make the person using it richer.

And its correct some people wont be hindered TOO much by replacing one stat with magic find, but dont tell me most average players will- out of the goodness of their heart not use magic find gear when they want gold and or items when they know they need all the stats they can do not hinder their team

Example: Little timmy keeps downing in Fractals lvl 12, hes an average player but he wants to make money quickly, little timmy keeps dieing over and over, going into downed state, we keep having to revive him, but since the rest of us are in a guild together and didn’t bring magic find sicne were getting to the harder levels of fractals, we manage to finish the fractals all while saving timmy from being downed.

Your gonna tell me timmy is going to never use his mf gear that he bought, even though he shouldn’t be using it but since most people (people like me and you) will carry him throughout the dungeon (or whatever were playing)
he has no reason to not continue using it.

End - Game content needs some work

THEY NEED TO DO THIS ASAP. IMO they should just do what betheseda is doing for their crappy wow clone The elder scrolls online, they need a mega server, im lvl 80 and getting very bored, i cant party up and do events in orr because my server (which is the most populated server out of all of them) doesnt go their, i cant just team up with epople in a random zone and play together because no one is out in the world, everyone is only doing fotm, all dungeons are dead, only dungeons ive done is c.m and a.c and twilgiht and forget about doing story modes on all dungeons, even using gw2lfg.com you wont be able to. No one does story mode, its a shame that i will never be able to do dungeons other then a.c because fotm came out right when i started unlocking the higher level dungeons.

Lost shore is boring because i have to solo it since no one goes their – And this is on the most populated server

Other then wvw theirs nothing for me to do, i dont do spvp and tpvp because they ruined the immersion of character to pvp in this game by making the armor different having no lore for tpvp and spvp and just making it a no story red vs blue thing.

Which is a shame because they could have easily made you bring in your own pvp armor and made it so doing stuff in pvp unlocks usable pve stuff and vice – versa, but no they decided to not do that in the name of becoming an e-sport. Its a shame.

So mainly we need a way to make players play more end game lvl 80 content, besides fractals and wvw.

We also need a more fun and dynamic never ending form of endgame, expand upon wvw but also i’d like to see more story / lore driven pvp (wvwish) and pve hyrbrids,

Think factions people, for those who havnt played it, directly in the story you had to choose between two teams, this made you able to do a new type of pvp that put two different lore friendly teams or factions against eachother in a constant war.

Lore and Story driven “Factionesque” pvp/pve)

Please make another factions like expansion pack that is more geared towards engame content.
Perhaps make us choose between two factions and perhaps even make it good vs EVIl!
And then make their be a constant war in ceraint zones, and when you enter your fair game for the other faction, yes similair to wvw but it will actually have a story to it and would be connected to the main tyria map.

This is how i think they should have handled wvw in the first place, pitting two or multiple factions that have a back story so it gives us a REASON to fight eachother, I would like this form of pvp / pve be more immersive, thats my main gripe with gw2 tpvp and spvp, its just so un immersive since they wanted it to be an e-sport.

But EVEN WvW isn’t totally immersive, we dont kno why were fighting we have no reaosn to fight, theirs no real good rewards for winning the battles, the battles dont have a major impact on the playerbase.

In this new proposed pve/wvw hyrbrid i’d like to see a lot of computer enemies and teamtes on each team and i mean LOTS so us real players feal like the heros, making whoever “wins” or perhaps whoever is “winning” have a major impact on the world.

Also it wouldnt hurt to make whoever is winning or wins, get rewards that ammount to gold, perhaps we capture enemies gold mine, which gives everyone who compensated gold, and reduces the price of items for held time for said faction by 25 percent.

I have a guild, and a huge one at that, doesn’t help when i ask them to do stuff with me they either want a.c run for farming, or fractals.

Also my guild isnt going to ALL come to my zone to populate it just for me, as in i want an orr with a constant power struggle of human vs undead
with 100’s of humans vs 10000’s of undead, plus perhaps 4 other people to be in my party where we actually follow eachother and combine our tacticts!

(which is the diff between soloing side by side others and partying)

I didn’t buy Market Sim 2, i bought Guild Wars 2 (Hmm where are the “guild wars” anyway? gw1 had it )
to play a market sim, lol and i do play the t.p but i do that for about 10 minutes a day.

I’m not paying someone to play with me, thats kitten and not only that but then the 1 gold per hour basicly negates me earning gold.

This is my main gripe with gw2 and was my biggest gripe (and the reason i quit) gw1.

So i hit the level cap of 80 and before i hit 80 i was always thinking

ok i can never find people to group for general pve, personal story, or dungeons
because everyones doing level 80 only content and the reason why i can’t find people for any dungeons except a.c is because no one wants to group with someone whos not 80. Unfortunately i still cannot find a group for any dungeons, sadly ive only done 3 dungeons and i would like to do story mode and explore mode for all dungeons.

Since fotm came out its impossible to find a group for normal dungeons except a.c, the only dungeons ive ran is a.c , cm and twilight because fotm came out just before i hit the required levels for dungeons passed a.c and c.m, shame as i would like to explore the lore and do somthing other then run fractals ALL DAY LONG.

So now i sit here and im wondering, for pve as a level 80 what can i do? I went to lost shores today, i was the only one their which was no fun, in ore i didn’t see anyone i really want to experince a zone full of lvl 80’s doing epic siege defence like quests in a lotr two towers setting, this is the kind of stuff i imagined doing in pve at level 80 in gw2, massive seige like events and the like.

I like fractals but i only like doing 1 or 2 runs because then i get bored, since ive run every fractal 20 times a piece already,

So as a level 80, all im doing now is wvw, i would like to know what els level 80s do, and now i play mmo’s to play with other people, so don’t tell me to solo lost shores or somthing.

Also im on tanished cost, before that i was on yaks bed, both teir 1 high pop. servers, i did notice yaks bend was not nearley as populated as tc but anyway, we need an incentive to get level 80s to pve more in groups, It doesn’t help that the only way to get the best items is through fractals.

Also is their any epic style events like what i mentioned above? perhaps a huge castle siege sort of thing with some good lore, man o man i wish i could get on a.nets dev team ide have some awesome ideas for them

Perhaps a Castle defence instance where you get 20 people on your team and you have to servive waves of enemies, but it has to be TONS of enemies so far the personal story mission where your in a seige or defending don’t seem right since its not so much army vs army the enemies need to be weaker and in way bigger numbers,

This is a pc game use it to produce massive fights.

If anyone has any recomendations for what to do OTHER then wvw please let me know.

(I’m not really into spvp and tpvp, i would be if they didn’t completely break immersion with your character using different armor and having no lore and all that)

The loss may be nearly neglible for some but there is a loss of something. Whether this is eclipsed by player skill has no bearing on the actual minus. It exists. Does it matter? Perhaps not, but this really shouldn’t be the argument anyway.

Sure, it matters. It demonstrates that the people in this thread are making a mountain out of a molehill.

The MF mechanic is ridiculous to me for entirely different reasons. If it never existed would people be clamoring for it?

So, you turn to attacking the principal of the thing after failing to show that the thing itself is detrimental. That’s a failure to make your point.

Those that understand the game know that both MF and the stats that you would use if you didn’t have the MF both make a small difference either way. Diminishing returns on stats ensures that, as does the way that MF ACTUALLY works. Why is it such a big issue to the people who are asking for it’s removal in this thread? Is there a more compelling argument than “because it bugs me” or “would people notice if it was gone”?

`Are NOT reason why we want mf removed heres SOME REAL REASONS.

1) It reduces customization to only 2 attributes in an item (sometimes less depending on the armor)

2) Magic find doesn`t add anything to the game, its not fun, if their were others ways to increase magic find instead of having to get rid of the attributes which make your class different then others then i would be fine with it.

3) Magic find hinders you and your team, don`t say you do JUST as fine with magic find as you do without, yes perhaps your skilled enough that it doesn`t make much of a difference, but NO MATTER WHAT ITS HINDERING YOU AND YOUR TEAM *PLUS THE MAJORITY ARNT AS SKILLED AS YOU AND I AND THEY -DO- BRING THEIR TEAM DOWN WHEN THEY EQUIP ALL MF IN DUNGEONS.

4) I experince pugs that i enter in fractal of the mist (higher levels) who run in full magic find gear often sacraficing stats they need, that results in my having to resurect said player over and over and over. Not everyone is as skilled as you and i were they never get hit, or that they can somehow magicly overcome the plus crit damage loss
This happends all the time, and when a.net releases new and more challenging content in the future, these greedy magic find statters who DO down all the time will become more apparent, Right now your arguement is that since most of the content we have is easy magic find isnt a problem which is half true because lots of players unlike you and i do need that extra stat BUT THEY STILL USE MF GEAR

5) Magic find stat is the least creative stat in the game.

6) If Magic find is required to maximise your loot chances of drops, if you want to be creative and be non cookie cutter, you need to sacrafice the chance of getting good drops.

7) Its the only stat ON ARMOR that technically doesn`t even effect combat or ANY part of the game whatsoever, except increases your chances to get loot, WHY SHOULD THIS STAT BE ON ARMOR OTHER THEN BECAUSE OLDER GAMES HAD IT ON ARMOR

8)Magic find is being phased out of new games because game designers realize mf is is the opposite of inovative
examples of games getting rid of magic find:

Diablo 3
Path of the exile
World of Warcraft (The devs are looking into phasing it out just like how Diablo 3 is slowly phasing it out
Torchlite 2

It doesn’t maximize the quantity of loot but the rarity. You equip MF to boost the chances of getting rarer loot.

I’m saying if everyones running around in magic find, you might as well just nullify it.

Not the same. Your example only applies if drops rates were raised altogether without regard to MF. MF is like getting paid beyond minimum wage. Minimum wage is a government standard that is the minimum that workers can be paid. The drop rates the devs set are the minimum drop rates. MF gear boosts this. Wearing MF gear is optional just like it is optional to get paid more than minimum wage.

Just like your starting to see now, all the experinced players are running around in magic find, why not just up the droprates a bit and vito gear based magic find.

Everyone i know who is a experinced dedicated gw2 gamer runs magic find most of the time, if i dont use my magic find gear then i get less then everyone els does so i feal like i have to just to get the normal drops that all my skill equivelent counter-parts are.

Once again it boosts your chances at rarer loot and not the quantity. So you want MF gear to apply equally to everyone because you don’t like to wear it but want the advantages that it provides?

Power was just an example. It applies to any stats. Everyone is forced to increase damage so they can equally contribute. Why not just make damage percentage based rather than by stats? That is how I’m interpreting your statement.

A lot of people perform better with MF gear than those who are geared to the max. Currently nobody has shown what the overall difference is between those with MF and those without. For all we know, there may be a minimal difference that it doesn’t matter. It could also be the opposite.

When did i say it boosts the quantity? You’re trying to discredit me by making me look clueless, i know how mf works, i’ve been a serious gamer all 22 years of my life, i said to get maximum loot, which was a poor way to describe it but maximum doesn’t mean more, i should have said : To maximise my potential of getting the best loot

Heck even Diablo 3 is getting rid of magic find gear, The diablo series is what fricken invented magic find gear.

Theirs should be other ways to get magic find boosts other then as an armor stat, as anyone can just kitten up a full cookie cutter mf gear set and completely nullifies any variety or “character” on their toons.

Why cant we have other ways to stack magic find? or since everyones basicly at the same magic find rate, we could just make that the defualt drop rate and get rid of mf gear. (Or we could up drop rates a bit and make it so theirs special rare items that give temp mf boosts, i like this idea lot, make these items rare though ide prefer it to be as a drop from a major boss or from doing somthing spectacular.

I got a GREAT IDEA skill points should be able to be traded for mf potions 20 skillpoints for 10 minor, 15 for major, 25 for superuior, 40 for ultra.

EDIT: How about “prestiege levels” were you can lvl past 80, you can see people at lvl 120 and such which doenst add stats at all, but adds a small chance to gain mf, once the player dies ONCE their prestiege lvl goes back to 80. I actually like this idea the best!, could make things pretty interesting, almost sort of a dark soulsy vibe were you have some kitten to lose when you die!

You need to read our posts before resorting to being rude, first of all you completely missed the point any player can slap on mf gear and do just fine, THATS THE POINT if any player can slap full mf gear on and do just fine in a dungeon or outside in the world then it makes the whole point of mf gear useless.

You’re missing the point. MF gear increases the odds of getting rarer drops. Whether you do better or not in dungeons is irrelevant. Just because everyone can wear MF gear does not make it useless. Everyone can wear power gear so I guess by your logic that it must be useless?

And to the person that said magic find gear is fun because they like finding better loot, that doesn’t make sence, everyone likes finding good loot, and ANYONE can slap on mf gear so if anyone can use mf gear and get better results theirs no point in having it.

Fun is subjective and there’s varying degrees. Someone can have fun winning $1000 and even more fun winning $1,000,000. Finding good loot is fun but the chance of finding better loot is more fun.

Once again, your logic that if everyone can equip MF must mean its useless is flawed.

*edit: its funny the people defending magic find items are proving my point that magic find is useless, their saying how it doesn’t make a noticable difference running with magic find in a dungeon, and it doesn’t really but it does take away options to your build customization, anyone can spec all mf gear and run a dungeon, and a good player will still do fine,
which is my point, just eliminate magic find so all of us experinced players that want loot arnt pigeonholed into using just m.f gear. I hate i feal forced to use magic find stat gear when i could have more customization of a 3rd stat, i mean if everyone uses magic find then its the same as no one wearing it in a way.

Pfft how about they just add a preview option instead of wasting time removing/reworking a stat a bunch of bad players whine about no doubt if they did do something with MF you people would still find something to whine about.

All that happens is people fail at a dungeon instead of being rational and trying to figure out what happened they blame the MF stat hell they should rename MF to Thief since alot of bad players like to whine about that too and now i wait to see the response i get back from a bunch of disgruntled whiners.

Whos complaining? And whos failing dungeons because of mf?

You need to read our posts before resorting to being rude, first of all you completely missed the point any player can slap on mf gear and do just fine, THATS THE POINT if any player can slap full mf gear on and do just fine in a dungeon or outside in the world then it makes the whole point of mf gear useless.

And to the person that said magic find gear is fun because they like finding better loot, that doesn’t make sence, everyone likes finding good loot, and ANYONE can slap on mf gear so if anyone can use mf gear and get better results theirs no point in having it.

*edit: its funny the people defending magic find items are proving my point that magic find is useless, their saying how it doesn’t make a noticable difference running with magic find in a dungeon, and it doesn’t really but it does take away options to your build customization, anyone can spec all mf gear and run a dungeon, and a good player will still do fine,
which is my point, just eliminate magic find so all of us experinced players that want loot arnt pigeonholed into using just m.f gear. I hate i feal forced to use magic find stat gear when i could have more customization of a 3rd stat, i mean if everyone uses magic find then its the same as no one wearing it in a way.

Also i would tweak this so that the more further along a claimed guild outpost/keep/whatever was with the upgrades it had – the added rewards would be multiplied say if the claimed outpost was fully upgraded.

Anyone have any further ideas? I was hoping for a more deep wvw experince before i bought gw2, and oh boy wvw has ALOT of potentail it just needs more attention and cool inovations.
