Not feeling terribly sorry for you.
HoD Status: 4:20 am Eastern US Time
Outmanned on all 3 borderlands, wherein we lack even a single supply camp. Own our 1/3 of EB sans umberglade.
Edit: and now we’re outmanned in EB, too.
HoD Status: No queue for EB at midnight eastern time.
No, HoD is getting 2nd this week, so tier 1 will be JQ, HoD, and whoever won tier 2.
Lol, if you want to cling to the notion that HoD was only good because of nightcapping, go ahead. It doesn’t matter now, anyway. All I have to say is: enjoy the queue times this weekend.
All you have to do to transfer is wait until morning and do it when the server is high instead of full.
I don’t think they have servers for languages the game isn’t officially supported in
He has a point, though. Who wants to transfer to a realm with RUIN on it?
It appears that until free transfers are done, there will always be a super server far ahead of everyone else. Last week, HoD was so far ahead that even later in the week when JQ had most of the map for 2 or 3 days, they couldn’t catch up in points. This week, we’re outmanned on 2 of 3 borderlands and EB has no queue at 6 pm eastern time. I guess it’s just JQ’s turn for queue times as more and more leave for the winning team.
Over the course of the last 3 1/2 h or so when I lead my servers Zerg my vision was like this.
Start: I see 99% of my team. The enemy loads slow buty they load. NPCs like Tower guards etc. are visibile all the time.
After 1h: Enemys start only to pop up after dead. I see rougly 80% of my guys. NPCs are still fine.
1h and 50 mins: Name bars over the enemy don’t show anymore. I don’t see my Mesmer clonse. I see roughly 35% of my team. NPCs guards take some time to load.
After 2 1/2 h: The enemys do not spawn enemy more. THe only way to tell if there is an enemy is by spamming Aoe and looking for numbers or Tabbing. I only see like 10% of my team. NPC’s guards take very long to load and some don’t appear. Wildlife is fine.
After 3h: I see non of my team. No enemy. My character and his Illusions are Invisible to me. NPCs don’t show up either. Wildlife is fine. The game is a wold of spamming AoE and looking for tapped red arrows. We think we ran into enemy zergs twic or so but we might just killed a bunsh of randomes or they walked by us. there is no way to tell. I am walking around spamming 1 looking where th beam of my GS goes.
3 1/2: The map is empty for me. THe only thing I can see is the red tab arrow and the finish and ress icons. Some AoE animations show up some don’t. On the bright site I could see all the ranger pets all the time. Some of the look really nice.It was hard to lead something you can’t see vs something you can’t see XD
Similar experience, got progressively worse until I got tired of it and quit. Restarting the client could be a temporary solution, but not if you’re on a realm with queue times.

Even after collecting the key, the door would not open.

Had same issue in red borderlands today
Three way battle at garrison, could see literally zero people at times. At most, a few allies. But unlike usual, it never went away after the fight. I’ve never seen it this bad.
This picture is 10 minutes after the battle.
I had that problem the other day, although I didn’t sit there waiting for hours…
Last time I went there it worked, though, so I don’t know what caused the issue.
Except projectiles CAN’T travel further than the maximum range or my engineer would be able to tag things from further than 1200 units away.
Bullets don’t behave the same way arrows/fireballs/trebs do.
Not only did you not mention what class/range of weapon you were using, what you described isn’t an “exploit” at all. Fireballs, arrows, trebuchets, etc follow a ballistic trajectory wherein the projectile can travel further than the indicated maximum range. Also, I believe the indicated range on an aoe spell is the center of the circle, so the radius would extend further than that.
tl;dr: you got outplayed
Currently in JQ borderlands: ET is attacking our only tower, while JQ is attacking our only supply camp. This has been going on for ever. Fun times on the HoD side of things.
I predict HoD to come in 2nd place this week. JQ has really stepped up their game and HoD has lost some of its organization/morale . Unless ET has gotten several new euro/oceanic guilds, I don’t think they’ll be able to compete with the JQ/HoD night crews past the weekend, just like last time they were in tier 1.
The game is not, and should not be, balanced around 1v1. And, unless you’re scouting, you shouldn’t be running around alone in WvW anyway.
Other than for EB, the queue times on HoD are not long. There’s usually a borderlands with an extremely short or no queue (usually the one that the guilds are not focusing on) and the other ones don’t have long queues, either. I’ve even gotten the outmanned buff a few times this week. The idea that TA, and by extension HoD wins just because they swarm the map 24/7 is patently wrong.
The counter to zerging is to go backcap the stuff they took while a smaller group defends a fortified location. If you’re losing to a single big horde of enemies, it’s an organizational issue on your realm’s part, not a game balance issue. Also, the maps are designed with 3 teams for a reason, zerging has huge disadvantages that can easily be scouted for and taken advantage of by both other teams.
If you’re complaining about a bunch of people capping all the stuff while your server has less people, then there’s another thread for that.
HOD is average at best with a great nightcapping population. The game system is what it is. They won’t win with even numbers but they won’t lose when everyone else is at work.
You say HoD won’t win against even numbers in a thread filled with screenshots of HoD being ahead the whole weekend (Which they have been since the reset to the present). The amount of self-delusion among the HoD haters is extraordinary.
I think night capping IS perfectly ok. Enemy is not going to just wait for you to get good night sleep, but this is just stupid.
Everyone knows that keep with full supply goes down quickly if not supplied and what if someone wastes supply? Devastating! Someone mentioned that he is doing it for achievement – obvious lie. Nobody right minded would build rams instead of useful arrow carts, catapults or trebs.
Obvious traitor in the camp and you can’t do anything about it. Maybe voting system should be implemented? Commander enables votes for traitor and if he gathers enough votes he is marked as traitor for 1h and people/npcs are free to kill him /alternatively kick and ban him for 1h?
Then guilds would just vote to kick everyone out so that their guildies can get in.
Didn’t see a better place for this. Don’t know if anyone from Anet actually reads these, but these are my feelings about dungeons from a longtime GW1 and MMO player.
In other MMOs, everyone is given a role. One guy tanks the boss, one guy tanks the adds, one guy heals the main tank, one guy heals the group, one guy is in charge of kiting, one guy kills adds, etc. If there are fight specific mechanics, like an object someone has to use, someone is designated to go perform the task. Everyone has a job to do and everyone can feel like they were useful to the completion of the fight.
In Guild Wars 1, even though it itself was not an MMO, it still had that sense that everyone could bring something to the table and help the group. (I know people rarely ran balanced groups in the later years of GW1, but before power creep, PvE skills, permas and other gimmicky farm builds took hold they were predominantly what people ran to defeat missions, especially before heroes.) A necromancer might summon his minions to tank, a monk could keep the party buffed with protection spells, a ranger could set up spirits with a range that wasn’t abysmal while doing decent damage from afar, an elementalist could set up defensive wards, a warrior could run in to engage, tank, or pull the enemies around a corner to body block them, a mesmer could interrupt or shut down deadly caster mobs, etc. Sure, this led to people demanding their groups have 2 monks in them, especially during Prophecies, but at least when those monks got there everyone was performing a role of their choosing and felt like they were contributing.
In contrast, my GW2 character feels like a generic mishmash of roles with bland skills on long cooldowns that produce barely noticeable results. I’m looking at my ranger’s (my preferred character archetype in GW and other games) skills right now, and almost all of them are practically worthless in group PvE aside the raw damage they do. My pet can’t stand up to a boss, hell, it can barely survive a few trash mobs beating on it or an aoe before I have to swap it out and hope the next one lives for more than 15-20 seconds. My skills can only snare mobs for a few seconds, and my spirits would suck if they lived long enough to do so.
So what exactly is my job? Neither my pet nor I can tank anything for very long. I can’t heal or buff people very well. I can’t CC mobs with anything more than cripple for very long. Basically I’m just a generic damage dealer with a bunch of skills so worthless I’d wager nobody would notice or even care if I just slapped on some signets and did nothing but auto attack and res downed people. The only skills that have any noticeable effect on fights are the Spirit of Nature and Entangle, both of which are elites on egregiously long cooldowns. The whole experience is just “meh,” because everything I do seems to have such a minimal impact on the fight, whereas the enemies have huge health pools and insane damage.
Every fight seems to be some variation of “take turns taking damage and swap out when your dodge/heal skill is down.” It might sound simplistic, and maybe it is, but I’d much rather just be assigned a job, carry it out, and win feeling I accomplished something, no matter how small. “OK, Blix, you’re on interrupt duty,” is much more satisfying to me than “OK, everyone run around in circles, DPS, and try not to die.”
I don’t have any proposed solutions or specific complaints/vulgar insults to lodge at Anet. I enjoy most of the game, the overworld, the WvW, the sPvP. But I don’t like the dungeons at all. Once I get enough tokens for my legendary, I don’t think I’ll be doing any more dungeons. I just don’t find them fun or engaging, regardless of how easy or difficult they are. If anyone from Anet actually does read this, thank you.
It happens whenever a huge amount of sounds are being played. Happened the past 2 times I did one of the dragon events where 50 people were shooting spells in PvE, too. Haven’t had it happen since I turned the audio quality down.
