My hope…. changes to the scoring system. If the way scores are calculated are changed, it doesn’t matter how they do the tiers. Servers with the most number of players should receive fewer points than less populated servers. That would result in a more even match-up (score wise) between T1 and T4.

points =/= fun

Nobody wants to take a few supply camps an hour and “win” because they achieved some arbitrary level of not failing hard enough.

League of Legends put server performance as its highest priority. If they hadn’t, they wouldn’t have gotten out of 2010 as a healthy game. People don’t enjoy playing games that don’t work properly. ArenaNet would do well to learn that.

LoL servers have problems all the time, especially the EUW servers.

If it turns out we have no competition during the tournament it will not be a big deal. Something will eventually change. One thing we can count on from ANet is change.

People do not transfer to t1 for an easy win. They transfer because it’s the only reliable way to get a decently balanced matchup with enough 24 hour coverage that you can always find someone to play with.

Options for tier 1 server: Stomp or balanced match
Options for every other server: Stomp, get stomped, or balanced match.

The logical choice right now is to be in tier 1. Sucks, but that’s the way anet has made it. I don’t begrudge people for moving to tier 1; it’s anet’s fault.

To be honest, I wouldn’t have kicked them 7 hours into the run. That was a mean thing to do. Seriously. I would have kicked them 5 minutes into the run! :P

WTF is the appeal of Brown Bear anyways? It’s not like they look cool or anything, and their autoattack is so weak… Why do people use them? If you want a tanky pet with good support, use Canines, which have knockdowns and fast attack speed… WHY do people use bear instead!?

(PM me ingame if you want a competent ranger by the way. I use 1h sword!)

When the game first came out I used the brown bear because I figured the pet was dead most of the time anyway, so he might as well cleanse a condition while he’s alive. I remember doing TA groups in the first weeks of the game where nobody would melee at all. We thought the wurms in the first part were ridiculously hard lol. Some people never progressed past that stage of learning.

So last night on reset my server BP was pulling about 60-95 pts per turn behind CD who was in first. This held up for like the first 2 or so hours. But as my small group noticed we BP were ahead by about 600 total points after the first 2 hours. How? We held all three buffs for the majority of the time for the first hour or so. So im assuming that we pulled ahead by so much just by stakes? If so i do believe this is a step in he right direction.

Of course the stat buffs are OP and unwanted. But the points for kills is awesome.

Getting points doesn’t actually help your server, it just fools the matchmaking system into thinking you’re better (read: have more players) than the other servers, increasing the likelihood that you get matched up again with higher tier servers. That is, until the leagues crap on everything.

Can't salvage/forge exotics from WvW vendor?

Yes it is intented. Dont think it will ever be changed.

A few patches ago they loaded all the playerbase with stockpiles of BoH from the achievement chest. Any half-decent PvE player will easily have gotten between 2000 and 3000 free badges without ever setting foot in WvW.

So to allow those exotics real value would basicly mean ANet handed everyone a dozen free exotics to salvage for Dark Matter or toss in the forge and see what happens and sell that.
That wouldnt jive well with the grind intent behind getting ascended gear.

You could never salvage the items from wvw. My ele has a set of invader’s daggers from last year and they were never able to be salvaged. Has nothing to do with the free badges from achievement points.

It’s important to look at this week’s matchup with SoR. They, at rank 2, are going up against rank 5 and 6 and, as anyone would predict, destroying. Now imagine how they’d fare against rank 7-12. This isn’t a problem exclusively with the bloodlust, but the bloodlust absolutely does not help the situation once leagues roll around.

By making sure smaller zergs can’t stand up to larger zergs and there ends up only being one zerg?

people stack becouse of the AOE cap, 30 people attack 5 people they will hit all of em… 5 people attack the 30 people the only hit 5.
by raising the cap or just eliminating it, the stupid warrior hammer drone/mindless train will become something that require to use at least a braincell.

Good luck aoeing anything if they remove the aoe cap, because the servers will lag so much you will only be able to press 1.

You don’t have to play with people like the op if you don’t want. If he makes a group that clearly says ‘80 zerk only’ and someone joins without meeting the criteria, then they’re the ones who are being asinine, not op. I’ve been trying to use the new lfg system, but it has resulted in some of the worst groups I’ve had in a long time.

If your server is winning and you are able to just join the zerg and run around and cap things, it’s not bad for leveling. In a balanced match where you spend more time fighting and less time capping, it’s pretty terrible experience when compared to pve.

Bloodlust buff makes fair fights and duels impossible.

Medic – 10% healing increase.
Robust – 10% health increase.

Has existed since launch, has always been making said things unfair. Just to put it to scale, anything outside of a Thief/Ele/Guardian, was getting at least 150 vitality worth of health from this, some builds and classes were getting 250+ vitality. Medic can reach upwards of several hundred points worth of healing power depending on the skill’s healing power coefficient.

difference between the world bonuses and the orb buffs is all 3 servers gain world bonuses at the same time. Unless the matchup is a total blowout, each server will have roughly the same amount of +hp and +heal from the world bonus.

Basically, if this mechanic really was introduced to break up zergs, it’s a total fail.

I’m curious, why do you think that having one of your zergs circling around the ruins isn’t a ‘zerg breaking’?:)

Let’s see. There was a zerg capping objectives and preventing other zergs from capping those. Now that zerg is guarding the ruins and ruins only. All the towers it would’ve guarded are open.

If it’s not a zerg breaking strategy i’m eager to listen what is.

It takes less than a minute for any zerg in the middle to go kill all the people ramming the tower then go back to running around the middle. If anything, it gives the winning server something to do on a bl where they already own everything else, so it makes it even harder to cap stuff if you’re on the outmanned side.

Also the “just go backcap them” posters are stupid, because the server with more people will also have more people willing to sit on points. More people = more roamers AND bigger zergs.

Sounds like your just mad considering your lowering yourself to name calling rather than logical discussion. You should keep a clear mind, angry people usually don’t think rationally.

You have given one very specific scenario as though it is the only scenario available. This is irrational.

One thing my guild as are alot of others are doing is adapting to the tactics of the opposing server. If all they are doing is like you have said, which I have seen happening, then you split push multiple points at once. One thing I have noticed with this is the addition of a vast number of objectives favor smaller groups now because you cannot just zerg against a smaller organized force. Not with the vast amount of evasion and mobility available in builds these days.

So we can run 4 man groups and drop 2-3 guild catapults on NE tower, 2-3 on NW tower, 2-3 on bay and/or 2-3 on Hills. A solo roamer can cap all sentrys and camps in around 8 minutes. 5 players can cap all bloodlust points in the same time a zerg can.

Zergs like to hold hands. Its mostly because they are bad at the game. But they cannot hold hands all over the map at once. And with good organization you can hold that against them with much less numbers.

Your entire argument hinges on the idea that the servers with more people are worse than the servers with less people. This isn’t true, people in tier 1 aren’t stupid. Any tactic you claim to do with less people the bigger server can execute even better with their larger population. No tactic in this game beats numbers, it only temporarily irritates the larger force. Once the leagues come down and the matchups get completely screwed, we’ll see how truly dumb the orb mechanics are.

In all honesty I believe Blackgate has a higher (average) skill level and better tactical understanding of the game than SOR does. I also believe Jade Quarry is much closer to BG in (average) skill level and tactical understanding of the game than SOR. I also believe SOR has more players who frequent WvW regularly than the other two tier 1 servers. So the claim that my argument " hinges on the idea that the servers with more people are worse than the servers with less people", I completely agree with and standby it with the underlying factor being that I believe that this is currently the case, but may or may not be in the future.

Also, Id point out that having less of a tactical understanding of the game than others does not make a person/commander “stupid”. Thats not the way things work.

How BG, SoR, and JQ fight against each other is going to be utterly irrelevant in 2 week’s time. The league system will pit them against servers who are hopelessly outmanned. No amount of tactics will stop them. That’s the point. I don’t see how people in tier 1 fail to understand this.

The tokens do not give zerker, ptv, or knight’s gear, the most popular types
There are other runs which are faster and easier to pug for the same amount of gold (1g)
The chests do not drop any kind of lodestone
You can’t exploit any more (to my knowledge)

You are showing us TC ticking lower despite the buff? There are many factors as to how that is not an accurate perception of the situation like, for example TC lost a keep in the seconds before your screenshot, but maybe about to cap another in a different BL. It is not an accurate representation of the situation.

TC is already back at +300, they probably just got something ninjad while they were zerging all the orbs (they currently have all 3 orbs).

And now they’re at 315 with SM and all 3 orbs. Lolol.

I never said we were losing because of the orb buff. We were losing before, and now we’re losing to people who have more stats than us for no reason other than they have more people spread out on each map to take the buffs.

This thread is a perfect demonstration of how the forums only represents a small minority of the playerbase, who will complain about anything.

You’re on TC, of course your people like the buff. I saw several people saying they didn’t like the new changes. I can give anecdotal evidence, too.

I could be wrong, I didnt’ have much time to test before TC 20 man zerged everything.

Oh, maybe it’s because they have to hold it for some time before they get the buff, maybe that’s what I was seeing.

There are plenty of guilds that offer pug guild missions for commendations. Don’t waste your laurels and ectos on the vendor.

Even leagues of 6 would be bad. Every week DB and FA would have to face at least 1 tier 1 realm and get destroyed. Even in our ‘natural’ matchup of TC/FA/DB, TC outnumbers us by at least 1.5:1, which snowballs by the end of the week. Outside of tier 1 there just aren’t many even matches.

How to balance out Server Populations

If they want to balance server populations, they need to condense 2/3 of the servers or reduce map population caps drastically. Too few NA players, too many maps on too many servers. That doesn’t address sea/oceanic players, though, and more to the point, will never ever happen.

Lol, some of you have a very rosy outlook. Everyone knows MMOs lose players over time, and that loss is especially evident in WvW. It’s not doomed, but I do predict the bottom 6-9 servers of each region will eventually be ghost towns in terms of WvW. By some people’s standards, they already are.

Hopefully they can add actual meaningful content, like new skills and weapon sets instead of living story crap. That would actually encourage people to play.

I think it’s more people are looking around and seeing less and less guilds/people to play with and so they are moving to tier 1 where there is no shortage of people. Even tier 2 and 3 are losing guilds to tier 1. The rewards for winning are just a nice bonus.

Attacking guards does not make white swords, attacking a cannon or oil will

attacking siege does not cause swords

only gates, walls and the tower lord.

…hitting the gate while you hit oil? not so hard.

Before I posted it I double checked by running up to hills and shooting the oil. Unless someone happened to contest it at the same time, hitting the oil caused white swords after the short delay period.

Wait, instant downs are not good enough? Warriors have the highest damage single hit ability in the game (as far as I know?) and it has 1500 range :P

Even a less extreme build should do just fine. Longbow has huge aoe and rifle deals some of the best single target long range damage in the game. How exactly are those worse than what other professions have?

Ever changing build optimizations? My warrior has been using zerker weapons for over a year now, just with different armor and rune sets. Pretty much any power build can just make zerker weapons and use them for both wvw and pve and then make up the survivability difference for wvw with armor or trinkets.

Applied fortitude = 26 more vitality than 6 pieces of ptv armor has on it
Guard leech = slightly less than 3 stacks of might worth of power and condition damage

Guard leech needs to be buffed or applied fortitude needs to be nerfed. Preferably the latter.

10$ on fine trasmutation stones, since that’s mandatory if you don’t want to look like a spaz.

If the prices were more reasonable or the shop wasn’t offering exclusively on one-use, one-character, one-slot items, I’d be more willing to support it. As it stands, everything is literally a waste of your money.

Bank slot upgrades are probably the only thing done right. Fair is fair.

I don’t like that you can’t buy one of transmutation crystal. I’ve got 3 in the bank and I need 3 to transmute an armor set and I’m holding off on buying them because I don’t need to buy 5. I’m fine with buying gems in incr of 800, but all items should give the option to buy only one.

It’s an intentional marketing gimmick to get you to buy more than you need.
