You realize tier 1 barely ever has queues, right? 3 tiers would still lead to 1 tier getting stacked because people like playing on populated servers.
I don’t know, are there map blobs that actually sit in towers and not actually fight enemies?

Edit: Ok, actually you can use the guild registrar to backdoor into your bank, so nevermind. Still, a normally functioning bank would be nice

When the game came out, RI wasn’t complete immunity like it is now. You could apply conditions, including vulnerability. So with vuln, a blob could burn through an RI lord in seconds. If you’re old school, you’ll remember wvw guilds stocking up on skale venoms, which stacked with oils, for free vuln and weakness procs.
Because of this, you could just ktrain the map with no downtime.
So you’d have 2 roamers cap a camp or a small group take a tower only for the blob to go undo that effort in seconds. That is why RI is the way it is now, so you at least get 5 minutes out of an objective and your work isn’t immediately undone.
Oh no, you had to wait a whole half an hour on reset night. Anet should make the game lag more because you were minorly inconvenienced.
If you afk you lose participation % and then don’t get any track progress.
Though I do agree it would have been better to just have WvW exp instantly convert into reward track progress.

Hesacon, no offense but the map is way smaller and it takes a much shorter timt to get to objectives. This is the main reason that people like it so much. You can actually defend things because you don’t have to spend 3 years running towards it. The frustration you feel is because you do not know how to naviage it yet.
There is more open space which makes it easier to do great zerg battles. And the keeps are not Blown out of proportion. And While this can be seen differently i greatly appreciate that there is less random annoyingness with auto turrets and stealth fog and rock walls and all that random jazz.
It makes it quicker for the zerg to get to a small group flipping objectives.
Because pvding towers with zero resistance is what wvw is all about, right?
When nostalgia wears off and people realize they are now WVWing 2014 style, they will remember why people were leaving in the first place. DBL itself didn’t cause people to leave and ABL itself didn’t cause a resurgence – there were other things going on in WVW as well….

yeah.. I absolutely refuse to play the Desert borderlands.. I have never experienced such a slow paced BL with 0 roaming and only zergs ktraining objectives…
They definitely need to balance the desert BL’s somehow, hate to be forced to play the DB BL, Wish there was some way to choose, maybe elect to fight either on a DB BL map or just play alpine..

I don’t mind if they retexture the borderlands to have higher res textures, but the snow and grass is way more pleasing to look at than brown sand and dirt everywhere.

Let’s not argue about this JQ thingie. “KILL” as the name of the guild implies is to Kill TC and BG. There is no TC to kill so they had to try to kill BG. They were unsuccessful in killing BG as BG is a monster itself and with me their self proclaimed monster of monster residing in BG, they stand no chance. So guild had to transfer where they feel they can kill something. It ain’t TC or BG, but they can no longer change name without losing all their guild hall goodies and such. Am I right? Yes, you all need to agree since I am right!

Except when I left JQ and went to tier 2, the difference in activity was massive. This was before the server mergers. All the tier 1 servers had less activity, sure, but because of the stupid glicko wall nothing ever moved. Anyone who denies JQ’s population is in an unhealthy state now is just in denial. Ticking 100 in NA and 350 in SEA with only BG to fight is not good. Whole tier is rotten.

JQ has been getting worse since hot. NA is outmanned all the time, and half the people who played OCX have moved to DB or other servers. SEA activity is down. Maybe it’s unfair to compare JQ now to JQ a year ago, but JQ is imo most certainly dying.
Please no seasons. Seasons are cancer. Queues are already back, and we don’t need pvers coming in with incentives to sit on arrow carts. Just add a way to get the mistforged skins through the new reward track system.

Diamond scout huh, sounds like you did a lot of pvding on your old server. Maybe now you’ll have actual players to stop you from ktraining now.
Here’s the thing: the people in low tiers who want small man and solo roaming are a small minority. The majority likes zergs. There’s a reason why people gravitated toward the higher tiers. A greater number of people prefer it.
So yeah, your playstyle got pooped on, but guess what? Less people care about your playstyle than do a more zerg focused playstyle.
WvW is already the least popular game mode, and low tiers were the least popular of the least popular. Any surprise why anet wanted to merge the servers so your average John Q. Zergling could have fun? No. Anet wants people to play wvw, be happy, and spend gems so they can be pretty while in wvw. No one cares about being pretty when you’re solo capping a camp.
Reminder that winning in ppt doesn’t actually mean anything or reward anything.
Even if you got zero points for ppting at off hours, your server would still be outnumbered and people will still ktrain. Result: the matchup’s glicko would stagnate and servers with coverage advantages would sit in their tiers for longer and be allowed to ktrain for longer.
A low tier server didn’t give you queues, the fact that TC is a fairweather bandwagon server who got 5 blob guilds from tier 1 combined with the fact that wvw got some new shinies is the reason you have a queues.
The hype will die down. Reset night is always, imo, the least fun time for wvw because it’s all about massive blobs. I would give it some time to work itself out before you demand it to be changed.
I assume you are not a new player, so I don’t know why you are surprised that reset night after a major change has big queues in tier 1.

They aren’t interested in stable, balanced matchups. They are interested in moving to a server where they can control server politics and nuthug their blobs. If they really cared about even matchups they would have spread evenly instead of stacking the already dominant tier 2 server. But they don’t.

Truth is neither BG or JQ are massive in any way any more. If the stupid glicko system didn’t make it so hard to drop a tier there would be a rotation up and down from tier 1-2. Of course that would mean that 5 servers would be exposed to YBs cancer instead of 2.
No, SOME people complained about the old map. Those people were naive enough to think anet could produce a suitable replacement. They were not.
I would gladly welcome the old map back, without all the stupid new keep and tower upgrades.

Pirate ship fights are only slow because nobody wants to push. The reason nobody wants to push is because you can have your stab stripped immediately and die in seconds. If damage output were reduced in wvw, you’d see more people willing to play frontline again.
Correction – you can’t just push from one direction. If you don’t have gank/bomb squads running parallel to your zerg you are doing it wrong.
That’s great if you’re doing an organized gvg. Doesn’t always work that way in a real wvw fight where you often have only one choke point you have to go through, possibly with siege firing on you.
So you either have to push a choke (possible suicide) or leave and do a long siege until you destroy every wall (boring).
Game was more fun before siege buffs, before sup siege was cheap and easy to obtain, before ascended gear was common, before trait revamps. Basically, before all the powercreep.

Compare the damage of a glass fire ele in the pvp lobby with a zerker amulet, and a full ascended glass zerker ele with food/keep/world bonus buffs in wvw. Stat creep is a big part of the pirate ship meta.
At this point I would be happy if they just made us use pvp amulets in wvw. Everyone screams “muh build diversity” whenever its suggested, but really? The meta has sucked for months, and continues to suck more and more. “Build diversity” is no good when every build is cancerous and zerg v zerg fights are nothing more than protracted mexican standoffs at choke points. Pvp amulets would lower the damage output at least, and maybe cause melee to be more viable.
Nerf superior siege damage vs players at the same time, and wvw might be somewhat enjoyable again.
Reverting stab would not result in hammer trains. Hammer train meta was years ago when 80% of your zerg was ptv shout wars/guards spamming 1. GWEN was the meta before anet ruined stab and there was still plenty of ranged damage to go with the frontline. As time progressed, more and more ranged were becoming normal and people were complaining about pirate ships even before the stab patch.
It will never go back to full melee trains because of the power creep of full ascended gear and elite specs. Plus, more people know how good zerker gear is in wvw, and how to not die while wearing it. There’s just a lot more damage being output than there was when wvw was new and we were all noobs. It makes melee far more difficult.
ANYTHING would be better than this awful meta, though. I’d honestly rather play in ptv melee blobs with culling than do the stupid crap we have now.
Give us the rotation we were originally promised.
Regardless of anyone’s opinion on the quality of the desert bl, the entire reason some people wanted new maps was to have a variety. Completely removing the old map is not variety.

Nobody who understands wvw at all thought there would be a mass influx of players. We knew the maps would be awful as soon as we saw the previews. The few people they let beta test told them it would be a good pve map, but not a wvw one. Anyone who spent their time in wvw upgrading and defending could have told them that autoupgrades were a horrible idea. We knew revenants would be ridiculous as soon as they told us it would be a heavy armor class with 1200 range and group support.
Everything added by anet to wvw after they removed culling has been bad. This entire failure of an expansion is just the culmination of bad decisions. They never had any idea what wvw players wanted, but they also never had the resources to completely ruin it, until HoT.

excuse for what? we routinely had fights in tier 1 to defend our waypoints or take down enemies waypoints on the borderlands, now you get free waypoints and free upgrades, so no one cares.
plus we’re all carebear ktrain kittenters in tier 1, doncha know, so we’re in maguuma pveing still.
Generally people don’t change if you tell them nicely. They will only act when they are emotionally involved.
Calling you out on being bad is TEACHING you how to be a better player. So instead of being the victim and playing dumb you should own up to mistakes and just accept that someone else may know more than you do.
Is it a nice way of teaching? No. Are there other ways to help people? Of course! But to really help someone would be time consuming and you don’t even know if they care about your opinions. However when you start attacking someone they will immediately focus their attention and read intently. Now how much is filtered because of anger we don’t know but surely some of the ‘mean advice’ must seep through even if they don’t admit it.
