the average player should have at least exotic zerker gear with ruby orbs. More than enough to faceroll all the living story achieves solo
0_0 rly there are some people who cant win this fight ?! My friend on nomand guard did this instance in circa 11 min . Now I understand why Anet doesn`t want to increase difficulty on pve(which anyway is pathetic standing and 111111)
Bulkitten… I’m really tired of people saying gw2 is all about jamming the 1 key, and that the other skills are useless… first of all, jamming/spaming 1 is pointles, because if you lock on target, after hitting the 1 key once, it will do it infinitly thereafter without your help, so there is no need to hit the key more than once.
Secondly, let me use the ranger long bow as an example to prove how many skills are useful, and how they can be imployed:
~Skill 2 is just like skill one, only it does the damage much faster, and each consecutive strike is move powerful, so basically a faster, stronger attack that helps pour in the dp and down enemies sooner.
~Skill 3 is a crippling skill, it makes your oponiont slower, and thus really helps in situations where you need to keep the enemy from reaching a target, giving you the extra couple of seconds needed to kill it. In this particular battle, the cripple skill should be saved for the mendor, as it proves very effective in this situation.
~Skill 4 is a kockback, one of the most useful, yet highly -and unfairly- controled skills in the game. While the initial damage may be mute, its potential to knock oponionts off a cliff or into lava is really what makes it worth its slot, capable of killing an oponiont instantly. …unfortunatly, while enemy npcs are given free reign to use this tactic on us, the enemies in any given location where this tactice becomes pliable, are imune to kockbacks. Thus making the skill all but useless and crippling the balance in the game. on the other hand, a knockback can still be used in this particular situation to slow down the mendor just as the crippling skill does, and when the two are combined, they are very effective.
~Skill 5 is a aoe skill that hits any and every enemy within the target range, and is thus very useful when dealing with mobs. Also, the fact that it continues to rain down arrows even after you stop fireing volleys alows you to continue dealing damage to one target while moving to access another. A good example of this is when you recieve the mendor alert, you can rain down skill 5 on the statue so that he continues recieveing damage while you deal with the mendor. In addition, those who are struggling to fend off the other ghost, or getting the neccessary kills to charge the great sword, can use this skill to hit numberous ghost at one time, and thus bring down the group faster. That being said, when used properly, all gw2 skills have a tactical use and can make game play much easier/faster. Even outside of combat they have uses, such as the greatswords leap skill which allows you to quickly traverse great distances, and make otherwise hard jumps.
I guarantee you can do all the achievements for this fight with the 1 key and the dodge button.
ideally a game mode like wvw doesn’t need to feel ‘fresh,’ it’s player driven content that doesn’t need constant updates to keep people entertained.
the problem is wvw has had some fundamental issues that have never been addressed, and many people have gotten tired of them.
I believe when you fight foes of higher than level 80, your crit chance is reduced so someone with 100% crit chance ends up with less than 100% crits, but someone with 119% crit chance may still have 100% crits (not sure what the formula for the reduction is).
Your crit chance isn’t reduced, you have a chance at a glancing blow. If you crit an attack that would be a glancing blow, it will be a normal attack instead. So having more than 100% crit still doesn’t do anything.
I would so love to see your source of information dude o.O

If that’s wrong, then I don’t know.
Yes the wiki is wrong.
Would you care to edit it with correct information then?

Do not run full tank as commander(unless u’re commanding group of complete racoons or running under 20acs). It makes you blind about bomb that u dragging your group into.
Run normal warrior build, just a lil tankier.
00464 3100-3200 armor, 26k+ HP s+wh/h. melandru/tropper runes. And you will be good.
It depends on what he’s commanding. At least in tier 1, people know the enemy’s commanders, and have people specifically target them with moa/warrior rifle/ranger longbow etc. In those cases, being as tanky as possible is a benefit.
The build linked gives 442 healing power from gear (300 of it comes from the water trait line, so you would have that regardless)
442 healing power adds
55 extra hp/s to regeneration
221 extra hp/3s to soothing mist
442 extra healing when attuning to water through healing ripple
442 extra healing when you cast cleansing wave or dodge with evasive arcana
44 extra healing per spell cast with signet of restoration
221 extra healing when using signet of restoration
Individually it’s not much, but it will add up over a longer fight. So if you find that extra healing suits your playstyle more than extra effective hp or damage, I don’t think anyone can say you’re wrong.

I don’t think any of them leave a trail
Why would “your logic tell you” that it would “double crit” lol?
This is a very wrong step in the right path.
There have been good scavenger hunts before, see:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Thackeray%27s_scavenger_hunt
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Black_Moa_ChickHowever, this is not one of them. Having to go to places to purify items is great, but forcing all of us to spent days running around cutting trees is extremely disappointing. In the hunts I listed above, we were made to run around Tyria to fetch different items, often having to interact with quests to do it. This would be perfect for GW2, but instead they decided to add ANOTHER grindfest, something which they say they don’t want, despite their actions.
Come on, Anet. I’m starting to seriously believe that none of the living world team ever worked on or even played GW1.
And then there’s http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Nicholas_the_Traveler who had some items that were truly terrible to grind for
If all you care about is not dying, and don’t care if you tag mobs or contribute to damage, then get nomad gear instead of clerics.
I also suggest using lemongrass poultry food/runes of melandru because the lowered duration on conditions and stuns will end up preventing more damage than dolyak runes and mango pies regenerate back.
I’m sorry, but anyone who thinks necro’ing threads will do any good is wrong, as discussed on Gw2wvw.net.
Doing so thinking they’ll bow down to our demands just by doing so isn’t going to do anything, but make them ignore us more and it only shows one person throwing his toys out of the pram.
We all want the best for WvW, it’s a game mode (not an individual product) with so much promise yet not in our vision. There isn’t something quite like it that brings us back to play it everyday, yet I’m sure there are many like me still enjoy hopping into WvW daily with Acquaintances, Friends and Guildies.
Nobody expects anet to do anything regardless of what is posted in the forums. Years of constructive criticism and suggestions have been ignored, from beta to release to now. Someone just went around bumping threads to point out anet lies/broken promises/failures for our amusement or commiseration.
Not every toon can do it. I’ve never been able to do it. Although I might be able to if I used a specific build I can’t be bothered.
I am sorry but.. what a sad comment.
I can solo a camp with a zergling player manning a ballista at the same time.
I hope you are new the game OP.
The solution: Grab a GS and equip zerker stance and balanced stance. Aggro everyone and take them around the corner behind a house/shed depending on the camp. Pop zerker stance to ignore the blinds then Hundred blades and Whirlwind em all down! If you get stunned use balanced stance for stability.
Nope not new, been playing since beta, don’t have a warrior though. Guess I’m just not pro leet like you.
Any class can easily solo an unupgraded supply camp. But better take this thread as another chance to complain about warriors!
IMO, stick with instances so that challenges like “Masters” or a “Hard Mode” (GW1) can be added and used for a reason to actually replay episodes. I mean look at LS2 E1&2. It was instanced, had a lot less problems at launch, if something bugs for you just restart and still.. it had open world co-existing beautifully with the story.
Why did we go backwards to the LS1 player mash up debacle?Because people complained that everything was instanced and they wanted more open world content.
See the pattern here?
I doubt very much they rewrote everything back into open world content because people complained too much. With that being said there is no pattern and I find your lack of faith disturbing, Anet does what they want how they planed it. So again I ask, Why go backwards as a planed installment?
The pattern is:
Anet does something.
Players complain about it and want it another way.
Repeat. If they kept it instanced, people would complain about open world.
If they make it open world, people complain it should be instanced.A strange game.
Anet is not designing the living story week by week.
Didn’t say they were.
I said that people were complaining regardless of what they did.
Yeah, people complain, but their complaints have literally zero impact until months later when they’re already complaining about something else.

I said it before and I’ll say it now, as a former functional game tester. 2 weeks is time for a SINGLE test cycle. Proper testing consists of several of these. In some projects even 10 or more.
Well considering the events broke almost immediately on live, it would seem that the test environment they are using is quite insufficient. Doesn’t matter how many passes they do or don’t do.
This is what happens when your QA department is off site and third party.
It’s also an issue of the QA having only two weeks to find and report bugs and the programmers having even less time to fix them.
You think they make this stuff two weeks at a time? They made all this stuff months ago
Would be nice, but it would just give people even more incentive to karma train in eotm
Unfortunately eotm ruined badges as a wvw currency
Thats the thing with Guild Wars, you’ll most likely not see those skins available again. It makes them exceptionally rare trophies for those who took the time to get them during the time it was available. Guild Wars 1 had LOTS of these, mainly in mini’s.
except you could buy the mini pets from other people
This is the game’s way of telling you not to waste everybody’s time using a hammer on a warrior in a dungeon
I use GS/rifle with piercing rifle and zerk gear/traits. Seen some people use sword/axe or axe/axe but I would rather use whirling attack than the axe spin.
There’s lots of people in orr, at least on the NA megaserver. Maybe its different in EU, but there’s always things going on in orr when I go.
Trust me I feel your pain. TC has been stuck with JQ and BG for god knows how long now, it’s the reason why I don’t WvW anymore. When we drop down to tier 2 for a week or two I’ll rejoin WvW, not saying TC stay in tier 2, but a break from Tier 1 would be refreshing and worth playinv WvW again.
I moved from Tarnished Coast after recently moving to TC thinking maybe they would be able to win one time out of four or five, but, because they have no way of winning and are in the wrong tier as many servers are now I was forced move again.
Losing week after week is demoralizing even in a game.
Guess Anet wants to keep people spending money for moves by not fixing WvW.
Anet, many servers are in the wrong tiers.
Anet, when are you going to switch the servers into their correct tiers?
Anet , when are you going to listen to anyone in WvW at all?
How many times and in how many ways can the thousands of us say it before you will fix the tiers?
I understand why anyone would have issues with losing week after week without any hope of winning, ever.
Please, fix WvW.
I’m VERY much considering a transfer myself. I love TC, I think we have the best community by far, very friendly! But yea, losing every week sucks, and I don’t go into WvW to fight for 2nd place. We just don’t have the numbers to actually shot for 1st place, and we all know in WvW numbers > skill of the players. Sooo I’m looking at Tier 2 servers and more specifically SoS.
Lol?
And what happens when TC loses enough players that SoS moves up to tier 1 and takes TCs spot as perpetual loser. Do you then transfer again just so you can win?
It’s almost as if different classes are different
dolyaks bug on their own
I also want to say (having gone and started collecting traits) that it’s very annoying that there are event chains that STILL bug out almost 2 years later preventing progress on traits. And you can’t swap servers anymore to fix it.
The solution is simple OP. Get everyone’s WvW guilds together and WIPE THE KARMA TRAINS!
That’s actually a great solution.
You can counter the entire worthless uplevels zerg with around 10 dedicated wvw people. Even condition spec works greatly in EOTM!Also, it takes one well placed AC to drive back an entire EOTM zerg from the keep
Wiping uplevels is boring. You don’t even get much loot because they die so fast that you can barely tag them. The loot you do get is light and small loot bags a lot of the time. And if you wipe their zerg a few times, they just leave to find a better overflow or go pve.
I will just add to this, that making your own LFG group DOES work. It’s very easy to ignore any “5k+ AP only” groups. Just don’t insist on joining them, as you will get kicked if you don’t meet the requirements (same goes for such a profession only).
I advertise for lvl 80 only on my dungeon runs. Why? Because I’m looking to do it for a quick run, not to do it with people who have just started playing the game (which most non-lvl 80s who join a dungeon group are). If people are inexperienced, I am more than willing to explain it to them, and do not just kick them, I would just prefer it if you were at least max level. I don’t see anything wrong with this. There are plenty of people out there willing to do non-lvl 80 runs. I feel it’s fair for me to want to do my runs only with people who have access to all the skills that we might need.
There are some elitist bigots, and just simply don’t join. Whether we like it or not they’re allowed to put restrictions on their group. Someone might fancy doing an “all necro run”, and if you join and insist on staying on a guardian, they have a right to say no and kick you. You can’t complain about that.
The “play how you want” ideology has to apply to everyone. Whether that’s “all professions welcome, lvl80 only”, “all levels welcome” or “5k+ AP, zerk only” we just have to accept it. Thankfully, I believe there is just enough people in each category for it to not be too much of a problem. My groups fill up just as quickly as a 5k+ AP group does. And an all levels welcome group appears to fill up just as quickly as mine.
You don’t understand, people like the OP need something to be outraged at. Suggesting that they just ignore things they disagree with or dislike doesn’t work with these people.
lol @ the condescension that this guy has
Sorry, TC players, it’s too unreasonable to request that the colors change more than once every 2 months, instead you have to coordinate 300 people to 2v1 for hours on end so that you might get a 5 minute window to cap the thing you need. It’s not rocket science.
I fought for all my other 100%. I even bought a tag, rallied the people and razed that stupid green keep during NA primetime.
Cool story. Now try to do that on TC against JQ or BG.
The people from the server helped and we were able to do it. I’m pretty sure TC can muster waaaaaaay more people than ET ever will. Now, if your server don’t want to cooperate with you, that’s not my problem…
You don’t understand. It’s not about how many people TC can muster. They can muster an entire map queue, it doesn’t matter. EBG keeps rarely flip in tier 1 unless the server is being double teamed. It took JQ and TC like 3 hours of combined spawn camping to take BGs keep last week. And they only had the keep for ~5 minutes and then JQ flipped it from TC, then BG took it back some time after.
So unless your suggesting the OP organize a full map zerg from TC and a full map zerg of another server to 2v1 for 3+ hours so he can get a vista for 5 minutes, you have nothing useful to offer. Your low tier experience is irrelevant.
The more ap someone has the longer they’ve played; the longer they’ve played the more likely they have obtained ascended gear and done the content before.
It’s not a guarantee, and I don’t personally bother to filter out people based on ap, but the runs where everyone has like 8k+ ap are almost always better than with people with 1 or 2k.
Just got my first character to 80 post trait changes. +1 to all the complaints here. I don’t mind going around the world completing events and things, but I would rather it be for a vanity item (remember the black moa chick from gw1?) than for essential traits for my character.
I fought for all my other 100%. I even bought a tag, rallied the people and razed that stupid green keep during NA primetime.
Cool story. Now try to do that on TC against JQ or BG.
WvW ranks are totally meaningless, he who karma trains the most has the highest rank.
I once met a guy over 1000 rank and he still ran a 5 signet warrior in WvW.
Basically it’d be pointless screen clutter for me.
It would take up exactly the same amount of clutter as titles currently do.
You should be able to put your rank as your title, like you could in gw1.
Doesn’t matter how much skill it takes if it’s not supposed to work that way.
There are more English speakers in the US than in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada combined, so there’s that.
Call it a short amount of time where all the worlds give players a chance to work toward map completion. It also would encourage PvErs to come check out WvW and feel safe enough to figure out if they want to stay. I was killed minutes into coming into WvW and thought of giving up but stuck with it. Five minutes is not much in a scheme of the week long match.
Couple of contradictions in here:
1) it’s not “working” toward map completion if you’re asking for it to be handed to you
2) PvErs that “feel safe” in WvW won’t be getting an accurate sense of the experience, and will be in for a brutal shock if/when they decide to actually play. Said shock will put them off coming back.
And your idea really just lets people into enemy keeps to report back siege position and numbers. It takes hours to build up a structure with maximum upgrades and to ensure that the supply gets there, and someone with a free pass to roll around through it can undo that in “five minutes”. It is a lot in the scheme of a week long match.
Much better to organize the PvErs that need map completion into an event, and if you have any numbers (possibly bolstered by the existing WvW force and commanders) go and take the points you need. That way, you’ll get what you need and you’ll be giving the WvWers what they need. Quid pro quo.
a group of pvers is not taking a waypointed garry or ebg keep in tier 1, lol
It would be nice if they made it so that if a matchup was the same as the previous one, the colors would rotate.
I’ve seen some norn guardians use the snow leopard to offset their poor mobility and escape with it in wvw.
You’ll find that the warrior longbow is very different than the ranger one, and is very useful in pvp.
Rifle isn’t very useful outside of a few gimmick sniper builds in wvw.
You seem confused.
But is GW2 all about dps?
The answer should and must be: NO
The answer to that question is actually yes. Use a GS please.
Relying on other people and working with other people are not the same thing
What? You can stability through all 3. Or maybe you saw a warrior use berserker’s stance and run through the spectral wall?
Shatterer is the worst example to complain about “zerkers,” you can’t even crit him, zerker gear gives you no advantage over soldier gear.
If they do redesign the other dragons, I hope they do not do any more condition immune or direct damage immune mobs. If you really want the game to be ‘play how you want’ then having things your character can’t do is counter productive.
I like my mesmer, but sometimes when I do an event or living story I just think “If I was on my warrior I could have done that faster and more easily by just pressing 100b or auto attacking with the axe”
This means increasing the auto chain or maul’s damage will likely invalidate the existence of the sword. From PvE anyway.
I think quite a few rangers would be very happy if they didn’t have to use the sword anymore.
Plant-men and little toad-faced people swing swords twice their size and shoot fire and lightning from their fingertips at trolls and fish-men… and you think the rectangular rock walls are unrealistic?
My favourite is Plant People ( Sylvari) Elementalists that have fire from fingers and do not set themselves on fire and die !!
Animals tend to burn when set on fire, too.
