yes bring it back! terrible decision to remove such a useful feature. another example of incompetence at anet.

the problem with all other setups, other than mine, is that you usually have to interupt holding down a movement key to activate skills. the setup i suggested doesn’t have that problem—so you can continuously move in all directions and activate all skills without any compromise. it results in truely fluid action control.
plus holding down the spacebar to move for long durations is a lot more comfortable than holding down a small regular key. it makes auto run nearly obsolete.
Unmentioned permanent shortcut for “call target”…

I found this by accident. I don’t see this tip mentioned anywhere.
sPVP: Please let us use our unlocked PVE armor / weapon skins for sPVP instead of having us grind for skins all over again!
sPVP: Please switch to using colored name tags instead of colored armor. We don’t want our custom dye color scheme changed to a stupid blue or red color. We care about how dyes look on us and the current system ruins it.
Please add option to HIDE off hand equipment. Because many off hand equipment just don’t look good. This can make our characters look more aesthetically pleasing when wielding one handed weapons.
Please let us use makeover kits at the character creation fullscreen interface. This will let us see larger/better details that are necessary for makeover decisions. Currently, the windowed interface for this is too small.

Is it better to sell unidentified dyes or ID them first? Which way can get more coin on average?
Please add some female heavy/medium armor that shows bare legs [like how a dress shows bare legs]. Currently, only female light armor have this feature. I wish female heavy/medium armor also have this choice.
Please add option to remove unlocked dyes from dye mode. This is useful when we have too many unwanted dyes cluttering up our dye selection.
the 1-80 leveling is playing the open world which is mostly empty lonely wandering around doing slow busy work for no high end rewards. and i already done it before. i prefer to play end game dungeons, etc because it’s the complete opposite.
so i want to get new characters to 80 in the quickest cheap way possible.
(edited by Bloodlust.3672)
Anyone know what is currently the fastest way to level up to 80? [Without expensive boosters, etc.]
I already have a level 80 character that has completed the story. It was a slow and tedious grind that I found very boring. I’m starting a second character [currently level 10-20] and all I want is for it to max to level 80 as soon as possible so it can play the funner end game [dungeons, etc].
I need some tips for this…
same happened to me. sound bug crash and the event was over. didn’t get rewards.
BUG: When any of the keyboard modifier buttons are held down[such as SHIFT, CTRL, or ALT], the mouse buttons don’t work [such as MIDDLE CLICK or SIDE BUTTONS]. Can this be fixed?
BTW: I use these customized controls…
- move forward … SPACE
- move backwards … LEFT ALT
- strafe left … SHIFT
- strafe right … MOUSE BACK BUTTON
- jump … LEFT CTRL
- target nearest enemy … MOUSE MIDDLE BUTTON
- interface show / hide … MOUSE FORWARD BUTTON
EDIT: Please fix soon. It’s hard to play with this bug.
I know it’s fixable because they keyboard+mouse combo is detected properly in control options. It just doesn’t perform correctly in-game.
I’m on Windows 7 x64 and only use the default mouse driver.

please fix the bloom effect [glow effect]. it’s too overdone, blurs out the details, and makes the graphics look terrible in general. i suggest to reduce bloom significantly and/or add option to let us turn off bloom independently of other post-processing effects that are actually desirable.
problems…
- loss of details on bright characters
- loss of distant background scenery
- makes sky color look unnatural and neon
Here are my customized controls for movement. This is better than the defaults because it allows you to press skills without lifting your fingers off the movement controls. So you can play GW2 combat more smoothly.
- move forward … space
- move backwards … left ALT
- strafe left … shift
- strafe right … mouse back button
- jump … left CTRL
Of course you will have to reconfigure your skill buttons to be reachable [to the 4×4 areas of keys, starting at 1].
Let me know what you think…

There’s a lack of light rays in GW2—even with post-processing turned on. And with post-processing off, there are almost no light rays at all. Please add more noticeable lightrays to the game, like in GW1 [for example, light rays peaking through trees of forests, holes of caves, etc]. Light rays really help to enhance the ambience of graphics.
Examples of awesome use of light rays from GW1…

Please add option for “don’t stop auto-run when both mouse buttons are pressed”. Because the current behavior is annoying. When we use auto-run, we often alternate between using either mouse buttons for changing camera view and changing character direction. And this often results in auto-run being stopped unintentionally when both mouse buttons are pressed. Adding this suggested option can prevent this interference.
Currently, it’s very counter intuitive for some skills to require us to stand still, while most other skills don’t. Skill descriptions should mention if a skill requires us to stand still, else they get interrupted.
when combining female starter medium armor with the 2nd body type, the pants stick out of the shirt. in this screenshot, you can see the patch of green on the side…
when our character is dead, the handle of greatsword sticks out of the character’s head. can it be fixed?
I don’t like the grunting voices for my characters’ emotes. She sounds like she’s a mute trying to speak but she can’t. Sounds like she doesn’t have a tongue or has a speech handicap. It’s just uncreative and lazy voice acting. Please replace these grunts with some better voice acting or remove them from the emotes. I would prefer silent emotes than stupid sounding ones.
Try them yourself…

BTW: I’ve only played female human characters so far.

“About face” button doesn’t work when using free camera [left click camera]. It doesn’t turn the character around to the opposite direction, but instead always makes the character face us. Please fix this so that the character always turns around to the opposite direction each time “about face” button is pressed.
NOTE: “About face” button is custom assigned in options. It’s not one of the default mouse buttons.

Please add option to hide gloves and chest armor. Hiding chest armor is especially useful for male characters.
I don’t like my norn female voice. She sounds too old/manly and not feminine enough. May I suggest to add an option to switch to using the human female voice for norn females? Or add voice packs for us to choose from?
BTW: I also don’t like my human female voice when she says “goodbye” after talking to an NPC. She uses a norn voice when she says it.

Is there any limit on number of times we can transmute the same armor piece? Or can the same armor piece be transmuted infinitely? I need to know this to workaround the current inability to buy higher level versions of our special starter armor piece…
google’s instant search doesn’t interfere with typing so it works well. this forum’s is a poor imitation.
Make necromancer glowing eyes headgear dyeable [Wraith Masque]...

Please make the Wraith Masque necromancer glowing eyes headgear dyeable [including the detail parts of the eyeballs]. Currently, they’re limited to the default blue/white—which we’re unable to match color schemes with our armor, etc.
Please add some WINGS / VALKYRIE themed headbands / armor. Inspired from Norse mythology. For female characters, these look really sexy and cool with the hair exposed. They would look great as a LIGHT ARMOR—but perhaps also make variations available to all armor classes.
Please turn off laser sounds at Arah dungeon/waypoint. It’s too loud, too frequent, and too annoying. We stand there waiting/searching to create the required 5 man group to do the dungeon [aka final personal story quest]. So please make it bearable while we’re there.
please fix the front hair clipping problems while running. it’s most noticeable on bright hair. some examples…
Forum auto-search is very annoying/broken. It always starts searching before we finish typing in the search field. The auto-search is a very unnecessary feature—please remove it. We can press “enter” to search by ourselves.

Is the exclusive Hero’s Band useful for anything else besides as starter ring? I’m thinking about deleting it. Is there any reason to keep it once I find better rings?
Please let ANY PROFESSION use ANY ARMOR. It will give us more visual choices for our characters. And will allow us to combine armors in more variety of ways. Currently, the armor system feels too restrictive.
Anyone know what is the name of GW2’s BLACKEST dye and WHITEST dye?
Also, any screenshot examples of them on armor?
Please let ANY PROFESSION use ANY WEAPON. Like in GW1. This will allow more possibilities in character customization and skill combinations. Currently, the weapon system feels too restrictive.
For example, I want my characters to use swords because I like the way swords look. So I’m currently inclined to choose only the professions that use swords. But I would like to be able to play any profession without this restriction.

I’ve been through a majority of areas in GW2. And I gotta say, GW2 environment graphics use too much brown.
Dirt is brown. Wood is brown. Stones are tinted brown. Metals are rusted and brown. Structures are brown. Vehicles are brown. Almost the same everywhere we go.
One fine example of this is Lion’s Arch. The color used there are very bland and depressing.
Can’t the GW2 environment artists design areas with more inspired use of color?
I hope in the future, we can expect more vibrant environments to look at. Maybe GW2 artists can gain some inspiration from checking out the environments in the fantasy game Trine 2.

DYE COLORS should look consistent VISUALLY across armor/items...
in Suggestions
Posted by: Bloodlust.3672
Dye colors should look consistent VISUALLY across armor/items—so that we can color match them. We like to mix and match armor/items for more visual variety. And when the colors don’t match, we tend to avoid combining them.
The explanation that dye affects different materials differently is lame. This is a game. Make color matching work right.
BTW: This was the same bad design choice from the first GW, and I’m really disappointed to see the same thing happening again in GW2.
Why is GW2 combat sooooo BORING???
This is why. Same few skills over and over and over. Skills are permanently bound to your preferred weapon—forever. Everyone fights with the same predictable skills per weapon. To make things worse, long cooldowns on most skills means we’re auto-attacking much of the time, instead of inputing combat commands. We don’t feel like we’re engaged in the combat experience. Killing things in GW2 is like watching paint dry and the grass grow.
The extra movement and dodge does not make up for the lack of personalized skills and long cooldowns. Traits are simply passive buffs like spec points—not truly skills that we actively execute.
As a PVP combat addict from GW1, the new GW2 combat feels like it has been dumbed down with a baseball bat.
Please add more skills for us to mix and match, so that we can create our own personalized fighting style. Like back in GW1.
Currently, extremely disappointing.
BTW: Even Diablo 3, with all its criticisms, at least managed to make their combat system fun and engaging, with enough skill customization to allow personal variety. Maybe Anet can borrow a few ideas.

Make our characters smart enough to auto-attack when idle...
in Suggestions
Posted by: Bloodlust.3672
well, our character won’t be able to auto-move. but if a monster comes near and attacks, our character should be smart enough to attack back instead of just stand there.
the intention for this request is not for being afk and having our character fight for us. there’s no way a character can just afk and auto kill monsters with auto-attack itself.
this is for when we’re actively playing. for example, we’re in a melee fight with a mob of monsters. currently, when we kill 1 monster and no longer have an active target selected, our character just stands there when attacked by other monsters. there’s a short delay between this and when we input our attack again. at a very least, our character should be smart enough to return basic hits [when we have no target selected] to the first monster that hits us—using our auto-attack skill. this keeps the action flowing more smoothly when fighting a mob of monsters.

BUG: Yellow text items don’t always show, even though I have checked “show all enemy names” in the options. As a workaround, I have to manually press the button for “show enemy names” to show yellow text items. Can this be fixed?
