If they added a gw2 PvE server that…
1. Used attribute points instead of stats.
2. Allowed secondary profession.
3. Elites skills could only be captured from bosses, instead of bought.
4. Equipment used AR, runes, and insignias.
5. Weapons used inscriptions and upgrade components.I’d buy that version for $99.99
And I’d live there until I was little old man. And die with a smile on my face.
yeah, anet should have stayed with that GW1 formula, it is way better than GW2!
ArenaNet, for Guild Wars 3, please remake Guild Wars 1 with next gen engine and graphics. It would be a reboot, but keep the gameplay and combat system the same, maybe improve it a little, but don’t change it too much. Start working on it in 2016, and hopefully we can have a release date for 2020.
I’ve been a Guild Wars player since the original release back in 2005. But after an overall disappointing experience with Guild Wars 2, a Guild Wars 3 announcement is the only thing that can give me hope and get me excited for Guild Wars again.
Please keep the music playing during the loading screens.
When in “action camera” mode, we’re unable to RIGHTCLICK to interact. Also, we’re unable to CTRL+LEFTCLICK to call target. These are major problems. Please fix!
I want to assign the same key to both these functions…
- show enemy names
- show ally names
…but am unable to, because they would overwrite each other. Please prevent the overwrite for this.
that could also be a good choice, although it would take more work to implement
would it be possible to have this issue addressed by the release of the expansion?
would prefer to have this fixed, so we don’t have to go through hassles
Please add ability to assign the same key to both these functions…
- show enemy names
- show ally names
Can this be added in a future update?
Example: I want to assign both to my “mouse forward button” for easier access [and also because I’m running out of reachable keys]. So instead of having to press 2 buttons separately, I only have to press 1 button to show both.

I know I can turn off NVIDIA AO specifically for GW2 but it is inconvenient to have to do this everytime I clean install my driver for an update. Since the game has its own in-game AO now, the overlapping of the two AO effects is problematic. Can NVIDIA improve the driver to make it smart enough to simply not apply NVIDIA AO to GW2 anymore?
Guild Wars 2 recently added their own in-game ambient occlusion setting. So when GW2’s in-game AO is turned on, there is no need for the NVIDIA driver to also apply AO—which causes a doubling up of the AO effect. Please make the NVIDIA driver not apply additional AO to GW2 in this case, even if AO is turned on in the NVIDIA driver.
NOTE: NVIDIA’s AO for GW2 is imperfect and glitchy anyways. So it is best to just let GW2 handle its own AO.
i would like to see an update that tweaks GW2’s lighting in many maps, to make the game look a lot better that it currently does
back in GW1, you can see your status directly at the character select screen—which was a better design. because you didn’t have to open your contact window to check manually.
When will we get build templates for GW2 for saving and loading our builds, like back in GW1?
The “invisible, away, online” status should always be obviously visible and immediately accessible in the interface—both in game and in the character select screen. We shouldn’t have to open the “contacts” window to see/change the status. Please improve this.
the “light adaptation” setting makes no difference. GW2 has always had this problem.
Please give us the option to swap the camera rotation buttons [left / right mouse buttons]. Because I want the left mouse button to turn my character as I rotate the camera, not the right mouse button.
Night maps are too bright and glowy. The lighting is unrealistic and looks bad. Please make them darker and non-glowy.
Example: Heart of the Mists…
Pic 1: Bloom off
Pic 2: Bloom on

The “best appearance” graphics preset doesn’t truly select maximum settings—it still leaves some higher settings in the drop downs. Please fix this. Or introduce a higher graphics preset called “ultra appearance” that is truly maximum.
Is “SMAA high” the new default AA when you select the “best appearance” graphics preset? Or is it still “FXAA”?
NOTE: My graphics settings are customized, so I don’t want to test this myself.
Since the recent updates to the “graphics options”, that window now requires scrolling a small amount to see all the “graphics options”. Please fix this by making the window a bit taller so we can see the entire “graphics options” without needing to scroll.
the problem is more easily noticeable on light colored characters—since it’s a soft shadow effect
this problem seems to mainly affect light skinned characters. but it still needs a fix. it happens on certain maps.
GW2’s lighting on all maps needs to look more consistently good like lion’s arch.
please fix.
or as a workaround, add official support for ambient occlusion to GW2’s graphics options—so we don’t have to rely on our video driver’s ambient occlusion.
still want a fix…
GW2 character details do look great, but the environment details are very weak and are a major visual drawback
anet needs to at least tweak the lighting on some maps, of which look atrocious with excess bloom, such as the heart of the mists. on the other hand, there are some good maps with nice balanced lighting, such as the lion’s arch [after the destruction]. GW2’s lighting on all maps needs to look more consistently good like lion’s arch.

GW2 needs a new graphics engine, as the current one is looking very old and dated. I really want to see cleaner sharper lighting and the addition of ambient occlusion shadows. Overall, I want it to look more like an Unreal Engine 4 game—something next gen looking .
Also, on a related note, I want to see the current messy UI graphics get overhauled and be replaced with a cleaner sharper one. I know it was orginally trying to go for a unique style, but in reality it just looks lazy and low budget. Even GW1 did the UI graphics better.
I hope we can see such an update after the GW2 Heart of Thorns expansion.
NOTE: I already run GW2 on max graphics at 1920×1200 on a pro IPS monitor.

Please add a “camera friction” slider to control how much the camera drifts after we flick it.
For camera controls, can we have an option to swap the functionality of the left/right mouse buttons?
Reason is, I currently find myself holding the left mouse button more [for freelook without changing movement direction], so I prefer to give that finger a break and switch that function to the right mouse button, for more balanced finger use.
I have the SHIFT key bound to move left. But the key doesn’t work when I have the fullscreen map open. However, the rest of my other movement keys work in that situation. Please fix.
still a problem. i already have the newest driver 347.88 freshly installed. can this be fixed in a future update?
First of all, I can confirm that NVIDIA has fixed this GW2 ambient occlusion problem for Windows 7 since driver 344.11…
- [Guild Wars 2]: Ambient Occlusion effect disappears at different camera angles and when using supersampling. (1023202)
But ever since, there is now a NEW problem with GW2 ambient occlusion [tested with new driver 344.60]…
The problem: Ambient occlusion alternatingly disappears and reappears on a character about every 10 seconds. Seems to only happen at the character select screen. And I don’t even need to rotate the camera for it to happen. Can this be fixed?

These UI buttons need to show the assigned key in their tooltips…
Game Menu [ESC]
PvP Build [?]
Play PvP [?]
Note: The PvP buttons are visible when in Heart of the Mists.
BUG: I use the SHIFT key as one of my movement keys. But I can’t move with it when in fullscreen map mode—although my other movement keys continue to work in that mode. Please fix it.
BTW: I use these customized controls…
- move forward … SPACE
- move backwards … LEFT ALT
- strafe left … SHIFT
- strafe right … MOUSE BACK BUTTON
- jump … LEFT CTRL
– target nearest enemy … MOUSE MIDDLE BUTTON
– interface show / hide … MOUSE FORWARD BUTTON
can any nvidia users with 344.11 video driver test this for GW2?
Can NVIDIA confirm if this GW2 bug has been fixed for Windows 7? I noticed it was still listed as an “open issue” in the release notes for driver 340.52. But then in 344.11, it’s no longer listed under the Windows 7 category [only remains listed for Windows 8].
BUG:
[Guild Wars 2]: Ambient Occlusion effect disappears at different camera angles and when using supersampling. (1023202)
NOTE:
The bug can also be seen as kind of like a shadows flickering effect on grass, etc when moving the camera around.

i agree with everything you said! it’s part of the reason i don’t play SPVP.
anet please add the option soon. or at least by the next “feature pack” update.
and if it’s not too much to ask, redo all the bland voice acting in this game, too!
so you guys think anet is just too lazy to program the skill bar to be more customizable
Just a suggestion…if you are holding both keys down all the time, why not just set the options to show ally names, enemy names or both without the need of a key press?
because i don’t always want to see them. they cause too much screen clutter if always on.
meanwhile anet is busy making more content for the living story. if i wanted episodic stories so much, i’d watch a good tv series—not settle for video game puppet shows.
seriously, GW2 is supposed to be a game and anet doesn’t seem to know the priority is supposed to be on core gameplay features.
(edited by Bloodlust.3672)
why wouldn’t anet want to add this ability? it’s such an important combat customization concept, that they even had back in GW1.
Please add option to let us rearrange the placement of our skill bar buttons. Like how we can in Guild Wars 1, Diablo III, etc.
This is especially important for players who customized their hotkeys for skills—so their hotkeys no longer match the same placement order as the UI.
(edited by Bloodlust.3672)
still a problem
the bloom effect look especially bad during night environments—where light colors glow intensely as if the sun is shining on them, instead of the moon.
example, look at my OP screenshot. that is a night environment, and yet the glow is rediculously intense.

BUG: It seems that since a few updates ago, we’re no longer able to assign the same key to both these functions…
- show enemy names
- show ally names
We are supposed to be able to assign both to the same key because they have similar function. Can this be fixed in a future update?
Example: I want to assign both to my “mouse forward button” for easier access [and also because I’m running out of reachable keys]. So instead of having to press 2 buttons separately, I only have to press 1 button to show both.
(edited by Bloodlust.3672)
can we have the option to turn on/off these postprocessing effects separately…
- color tinting
- bloom
currently, there is no way to turn off bloom while still being able to keep the color tinting.
GW2’s storytelling reminds me of sesame street. kid friendly, safe, and the puppet storytelling. which just doesn’t have the cool and awesome factor of most medieval fantasy games. this approach is rather boring for a teen rated game.
as for the engine, not only does it perform poorly, but it looks dated. the bloom lighting is also overdone and screams bad taste. anet likely needs to make a new engine from the ground up.
and yes they need to bring back the deep combat and skill system of gw1.
