I didn’t have this problem at all, I used a lvl80 ele, and breezed right through it.
Well, we don’t know where this story is going yet, so maybe there will be dragons involved. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Personally I would prefer you were FORCED to join a group for this kind of content.
But not even giving people the OPTION to play with a group a people?!
Arena net, what are you thinking? You are making an MMO. Why are you making singleplayer ONLY content? Even the personal story could be done with groups.
Why are you forcing single player only content on people?
I play this game because I want to be interacting with other people, it’s an MMO.You shouldn’t be forced to do anything. Forcing someone to do something they don’t want to do isn’t right or fun.
It’s my opinion and I’m entitled to it.
I think that group only content is better designed and more fun. It’s also more appropriate to an MMO then these singleplayer only instances.
Regardless, that wasn’t even the point of my post.
Lol, well that was my opinion and I was entitled to it, so practice what you preach and let me say what I want hm?
I would assume they made those two achievements not count because so many people were complaining about others using food buffs during the start of the event. Cry babies always win.

One of my guild mates was also having this problem with his Norn.
It would just be really nice if they would say that if you spend x amount of gems on rich coffers without getting a ticket, then they would go ahead and mail you a ticket out of courtesy. Maybe it would come with a note that says sorry about your luck, thank you for playing with us and good luck during the next event? That would get me to buy!
High level characters in a low level area are not taking kills away from newbies, they are helping them (except for the holo’s which you stated is not the issue). There are massive areas in the 1-5lvl range, one for each race in fact. There have been several hours in the past few days where I have been the only one in the area when I went to those low lvl zones (and by that I mean I did not see any other players, and the map chat was blank).
Having high lvl characters around is part of the game because you need to do map completion to get your Legendary weapon. This means that these people will always be in just about every area, event or no event.
My Edit: Just wanted to add to this
Also, yes, high lvl characters do like to go to low lvl areas, and it happens quite frequently. Maybe for nostalgia, but I think mostly TO ROLE PLAY! This is a role playing game, and so yes, I as a high lvl, can be seen frequenting starter areas. (Those are just two examples).
And, Just Trogdor, your comment about low lvl characters farming, well, that’s fine, but if you don’t have the skill or ability to do it, then you should just do renown hearts and story line until you are more familiar with how the game works. You act like everyone should just step away and let you have your own creatures to farm and your own…well…everything. This is a community game, you will win and you will loose, but starting off as a newbie and farming for dragon coffers is not the way to begin.
(edited by BlueSoda.6297)
At one point I politely asked in /map if some of the higher level players would mind if we could use the area we were in for a short bit. Most ignored it but here are some of the responses I got:
That’s a ridiculous and very rude request first of all. Second of all I have a low lvl character that I used to farm in that area on the 1st and 2nd day of the event and had no trouble at all. In fact, it was a great way to lvl up. Lastly, if you were in a party with your friend you should have had an advantage over other players anyway if you properly coordinated.
That’s a mean way to say you don’t like them. How do you know how much effort they really put into making them?
They look great to me, glad to have them in my inventory.
I just wanted to post to let A-net know how much I love these freaking pinatas! I really appreciate that someone even took the time to put the little flying dragon glitter confetti that comes out of them in the game (that’s my favorite part!).
Also I think the fact that the candy is named after the dragons is cute too XD!
It’s these little details that make me happy to be a part of the GW2 community. Please add more of this kind of thing in the future!
In situations like these I kind of wish that it was made into a cut-scene so you got a dramatic sweeping view of everything. I also wanted that for the moa racing, would make it more worth the 50s if I actually got to see what’s going on without chasing the little guys.
Well, thanks, I guess, for becoming the poster boy for why the holo projectors are anti-community. You deliberately espouse killing the spawns as quickly as possible and with out ever waiting for anyone. Exactly the kind of game play this game is supposed to discourage, if not make impossible.
Holo-projectors are not “anti-community” just because YOU (and other newbies) can’t handle farming them. The person who made this thread and video was just being nice and trying to help people and you decided to blame him/her for your issues with the game mechanics.
Also, it’s “Flame Legion”, not “Fire Legion”.
Oh SNAP!
I think the issue is that the tickets for the skins are only available for a very limited time. If we could try to get them for longer than a month then it wouldn’t be so bad that they are so hard to get. It’s almost like it doesn’t matter how much effort you put into getting them at this point, and why should only a lucky few get to have them?
Also, why does it matter if other players have the item, I mean, why does that decrease the value of it to you? If someone really wants to use it for their character then they should get a fair chance to do so. It’s not like you actually work to get one, it’s pure luck.
Lastly, you can’t flood the market with these, as they are not able to be traded, so I don’t know what you meant by that.
Personally, I would rather have an item be like the shattered wings, where you actually DO have to work for it, and have a reason to display it.
So you can’t even get the Colossus now?
Can you combine 4 holographic risen knight mini’s in the Mystic Forge to get other rare mini pets, or can it only be combine with the other holographic pets to get the colossus mini?
If you can make other mini’s with it besides the holographic ones, then this is a steal because the knights are selling for around 35s on the T.P. now.
Llama I think you’re blowing things out of proportion, it’s just a game. I’m not a bad person because I play competitively, and it’s not bad for the game either.
I’ll admit to venting some of my frustration towards Anet in that last post and their recent decisions, but I do think that’s exactly the mindset that’s being encouraged with the way the projectors are setup now. That it isn’t cooperative play that’s encouraged is just sad.
Not saying that you are the bad person here, but I don’t like the way you’ve been led to think you have to behave in these circumstances.
I agree with you that this is a bad mindset to have, and I don’t like it, but I was just saying it’s the reality of the game. I do wish these holo’s were like the gathering nodes, would make things easier. But in the mean time as I said, not going to play around and let others take the kills I could have just to “be nice”.
Llama I think you’re blowing things out of proportion, it’s just a game. I’m not a bad person because I play competitively, and it’s not bad for the game either.
Well I don’t know about the tickets being trade-able or gift-able, but there should be an option to trade the tickets for gold or materials at the vendor instead.
Well I wouldn’t say it’s not going to happen, here’s a quote from an interview a-net did with guildwars2hub.com. You can read the whole artical at this link: http://www.guildwars2hub.com/features/editorials/dragon-bash-begins
GW2Hub: Can we dye back items yet or in the near future?
Will: Not yet!
GW2Hub:
Sorry but it’s every man for himself, lol. Nobody waits for me on those things so why should I wait for them? Plus, I usually don’t get credit for the kills if I let someone else come over so…no deal kiddo, just going to keep killing them as fast as I can.
Let’s be really clear, no one is being forced to do anything.
Want the shiney? Accept to do what it takes to get the shiney.
Don’t wanna do that? Don’t expect to get the shiney.
Don’t like what you gotta do? Don’t do it. Go ahead and even complain about it.But don’t make up some kitten that you’re being forced to do it.
So, unless that’s a dev with a loaded gun standing behind you and giving you no alternative but to sit there an press buttons, wake up and accept it’s your choice to play however it is you chose to.
Sure, but what have the players who have not wished to waste their money on RNG boxes got in the past few months. Just look at the settlers weapons we got at the end of the last living story. It really shows how much anet cares about those players. This has turned into a f2p model MMO.
Um, not sure what you’re getting at, but honestly the only things you’d really be missing out on was the Fused and Sclerite weapon skins. Even then that could possibly be at least somewhat countered with a lot of farming (Fused came from the BLCs, Southsun boxes dropped). Not a guarantee, but what else did we miss out on? Everything else came from in-game actions…two awesome backpieces, specifically. The Settler weapons feel like they were mostly for a different method to access gear (and a stat combination).
Just because you thought they should be unique skins doesn’t mean it’s horrible that they’re there. I didn’t miss out on anything except two sets of cosmetic gear. Oh well. Doesn’t stop me from playing.
The complaints thus far are absolutely mind boggling.
1.) Moa racing shouldn’t be part of the meta achievement.
Congratulations, it’s not! You only have to do 10/14 achievements, of which you have AN ENTIRE MONTH to do.
2.) The holo dragons in the lower zones breed competition and contempt.
It was like this during Halloween, Christmas and SAB. Same plan. But considering all the impatient people want to finish this in a day, it’s become a major issue. Once again, YOU HAVE AN ENTIRE MONTH. Let the crowds thin out and you’ll see the nodes sitting around doing nothing, like they have in every other event beforehand.
3.) RNG RNG RNG RNG RNG RNG RNG RNG
The biggest complaint I saw in Southsun was the fact that the crates off mobs didn’t drop enough. Now they drop off ANY WORLD MOB and now you have coffers being THROWN at you, in the hundreds and thousands, and you DON’T HAVE TO PAY A DIME. The RNG boxes have worked the same in EVERY OTHER HOLIDAY BEFOREHAND and if you’re a sucker enough to keep buying into them, then I have no hope for you as a human being. People are picking up hundreds IN A SINGLE DAY, and once again, THE EVENT LASTS FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH. The weapon skins DO NOT AFFECT YOU, in ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, so have some WILLPOWER and DON’T BUY THEM.
By god, ever since that “other MMO” started handing everything to everyone by just logging in, everyone thinks that’s how it should be now. Man, I can’t wait for real life to smack the lot of you across the face.
People should have the ability to voice their opinions no matter how you feel about it Stark. This is a video game, not a government state where you should “just be happy with what you have and not complain about it”.
It does not matter if you agree or disagree, if people are complaining, reporting or complementing, they should have the ability to do all of those things freely and not be condemned for it because you personally are annoyed by it. You don’t have to read the titles of the threads you find offensive or annoying, so keep that in mind.
He’s voicing his opinion about you/everyone who’s complaining’s opinion. He should be able to complain about that freely and not be condemned because you are personally annoyed by it. You don’t have to read this thread if all you want is mindless complaining.
:P
Erm…what?lol. I think you are confused, I didn’t say I had a problem with him voicing his opinion either, just that if he’s going to give his, he should not have a problem with other people giving theirs either.

The wintersday game was a lot more fun to play, mostly I think because it was co-operative and not competitive.
I do like dragonball compared to the Crab Toss though, crab toss was a mess.
I’m also having trouble with this. I have 8 achievements completed, but it only says I have 6 done. Not sure which two aren’t counting, but I would like to see this fixed soon.
Hope we get a Dev response on this soon.
This topic is basically already covered here:
Just wanted to say that I agree. I would love to not have to constantly open my inventory and click to have my mini active. It’s a real hassle.
The “Mini Reef Rider” has such a high drop rate right now it seems to me that it’s not really an exotic find, but maybe a just a rare. If you look at the availability and price of it compared to other exotic mini pets on the trading post, there is a very wide gap in price (with the Reef Rider most recently costing around 3g, and going down as we speak).
It just seems that if something is this available, maybe it should be labeled differently. Or maybe it’s just because so many people are farming that area right now, but I wanted to know what other people think about it. Do you guys think the price will go up after a while or remain the same or continue to go down?
This question mostly came up because I’m seeing a lot of people in game talking about how common of a drop it is, and how unimpressed they are when someone links one in chat. I’ve also noticed that one is linked apx. every 30 min. or less.
No, it’s not like enlisting in the army, it’s like signing a contract to work for a company (like a Japanese sweat shop), and they’ll sue the pants off of you if you quit, but then the building burns down and you have the option to save the papers, but you don’t because it’s your only way out.
Why would we want the Consortium to keep their contracts that keeps them essentially slaves? Is there more to this story?
Was also wondering about that. If I had the option here, I would let the contracts be destroyed (I like to play as lawful neutral most of the time…although I am rarely given the opportunity…)
I don’t think this is the proper forum for this thread.
This video basically sums up how I feel about the crab toss.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=SRcjKIvky-U
I am personally very happy that they are adding more solo-able content. I like the community at certain times, but more often than not I prefer to go through instances on my own. However, if I do want to group up, I may only want to bring 1 or 2 more people that I know, and not have to wait to make a PuG of 5(which is usually composed of players I don’t particularly care for because they only want to farm the instance and not enjoy the cut-scenes.)
Generally I want people to group up with me in the open world for events and hearts, not mixed in with my story line (and really would prefer a solo option with all dungeons, but that’s another thread entirely). Grouping up for a challenge is great at times, but not for people like me who want to role-play (as this is a role playing game).
I agree with you here Rozbuska, they should move it to the PvP daily category. Especially since it’s taking up a spot in the regular daily’s like DaMunky said.
You don’t know what my skill level is in this aspect so I don’t know how you can say that I “don’t display the prodigious skill” of other players. .
You’re losing consistently.
That tells me that at the very least your skills are “average” – in any given mix of people you’re not coming out top. If you think it’s possible to be skillful, yet lose every match you need a reality check.
Again, how do you know I’m “loosing every match”? and that I’m “not coming out on top”? I have all the achievements for this mini game, BECAUSE IT’S LUCK BASED! I don’t want this PvP style content to be mixed in with the PvE, it’s an entirely different play style and the two have nothing to do with one another.
If people’s best argument against me is going to continue to be that I don’t like the Crab Toss because they somehow magically know that I “suck at it”, then they’re not making a good contribution to this thread.
I actually was hoping for Tengu and Centaur as the next two. The largos are too human looking, not really a lot of reason to add them (plus, they’re mostly aquatic and the current game is terrestrial).
I don’t think the Charr player female voice fits into the lore of the game because it’s too “human” sounding, too mid-tone. Charr ears are made so that the top ones hear high pitched sounds, and the lower set hears low pitched sounds (this creates a difficulty hearing mid-tone sounds, and contributes to the stress between human/charr).
Just wondering if anyone else thinks the same. I would like to see an option for the voice or have the voice lowered in pitch.
I don’t like PvP (in fact I hate it), it is frustrating and relies on luck rather than skill. This is not my play style, and I’m being forced into it to get the reward I want.
On the contrary, it absolutely IS a display of skill, you have to prove you are the better crab-grabber (crabber), instead of merely jumping through some hoops with dumb-as-a-post AI.
Unfortunately you (like me) don’t display the prodigious skill of some of the other players which makes it rather frustrating trying to get the achievement unlocked…
…of course an achievement isn’t really an achievement if it’s easy
You don’t know what my skill level is in this aspect so I don’t know how you can say that I “don’t display the prodigious skill” of other players. This is most def PvP, and it is def. a game of luck, especially because of the lag and various bugs that always come with new content like this. I’m not complaining because I CAN’T do this content, it’s because I don’t WANT to do it to get a full set of achievements.
Ah i see there are many options. You are correct Ursan, and thank you for quelling my anger, lol. I was quick to judge this update, but I should have investigated further.
(edited by BlueSoda.6297)
Please separate the crab toss achievements from the rest of the Southsun Cove achievements. (PvP and PvE already separated in the daily and monthly achievements, why is this different?)
I don’t like PvP (in fact I hate it), it is frustrating and relies on luck rather than skill. This is not my play style, and I’m being forced into it to get the reward I want. Arena Net said we could play the way we want, but I’m not seeing that in this update at all.
Please, if anyone else feels this way post that you do so we can possibly see some change!
We ended up making a “molten” species for these enemies, so that they can share loot drops and other behind the scenes stuff.
Unfortunately, this means they are technically not part of the flame legion or dredge family, and your potions will not help you.
Thank you very much for the answer, and for getting to my question so quickly.
What do you mean the Charr aren’t flame legion? The molten alliance is an alliance between the dredge and the flame legion. That is their whole identity, otherwise where is the flame coming from in the “Flame and Frost”.
Do the “Potion of Flame Legion Slaying” or “Potion of Dredge Slaying” work against molten alliance?
Did not see anything for this topic when searched, and no one in game seems to know either.

Agreed. I also like the horns, but am disappointed that they only come in one size. I actually thought this was a bug in the character creation.
Why can’t we also have legendary items? Why do you only want to have legendary weapons and not cool armor?
I don’t think having special effects on armor would affect the status of the legendary weapons at all. This could only improve the game, and I look forward to more high level items as a whole.
(edited by BlueSoda.6297)
I was just thinking of some ideas for special armor dyes that arena-net could make that would have new visual effects. They’re probably not all “great” ideas, but I’m just putting it out there.
Glow In the Dark Dye: Obviously, this would be a dye that glows when it is dark, similar to the AC dungeon weapons.
Invisible Dye: This would let players hide parts of their armor, like if they didn’t want their chest armor to be visible
Chrome Dye: This would be a very reflective dye, mirror like.
Fluffy Dye: This would make the armor look plushy, maybe with stitches? I don’t know…lol.
If anyone else has ideas please post them, I think there’s a lot of potential in affecting player customization.
