I can see a perceived frustration in not being as powerful in PvP as in PvE due to splitting. Of course, this would be for the benefit of all the players. However, I must admit I was a bit shocked at my confusion damage as a mesmer in PvP the first few times I ran a condition build.
I believe Anet wants players to be able to switch back and forth between PvE and PvP without experiencing those kind shocks and changes in gameplay. If you get into a natural groove with a certain build then have a lot of its skills change on you, then you might loose out on the synergy and your usual playstyle with that build. This is essentially what occurred in GW1 with a lot of the skill splits. You’d go do some PvP and notice that half your bar changed and certain skills were then not as viable as you were accustomed to.
As far as dates are concerned, everything revolves around PST (server time). It’s currently 5:05 PST. I’ve heard people say 8PM PST for today’s patch, but basically Anet has up until midnight PST to implement the minor patch.
Anet had stated awhile ago that the requirements for monthly achievements would vary from month to month. Granted that the first couple of months were the same or very similar, but it was bound to happen that there would be a month having dungeon path completion.
I agree that scavenger hunt was not needed for any titles/achievements, but it’s not up to us what each player finds extremely important. There are a lot of players who find having that book back piece to be incredibly high priority while others just don’t care at all. I know we see the argument thrown around a lot that if these players wanted the book skin so badly, then why not take the time to level? There are just simply some people that can only invest a few hours during this whole event and for them that just isn’t feasible. Given Anet’s ability to do level scaling and design all portions of the game to support it, these players really shouldn’t be missing out on any part of a holiday event even if it’s just one part of it.
I think something for them to think of next year is to give an idea of what level a player needs to be in order to easily access all of the Halloween content. There were a lot of players that were unhappy due to the fact they couldn’t finish the scavenger hunt on their own due to not being appropriately leveled. I do understand that this is the only portion of the Halloween event that could restrict players based on level, but at least knowing a couple weeks beforehand about any level based content would be nice for a lot of low level players.
I think the OP is asking the opinion of people on whether or not Mad King Chests will be discontinued for future Halloween events as these were mainly introduced to give gem purchases another shot at Halloween skins.
Personally, I don’t think they will at least not via Mystic Forge. I can see them introducing the Mad King Chest as a gem purchase directly instead of relying on BLC all the time. If you wish to keep it in your inventory for memories sake, then go for it. I would assume the mystic forge recipe for it will be removed either Nov 1 or Nov 5.
I got to say as someone who played Guild War 1 that I very much enjoyed the Halloween events for that game, yet I was very content and happy with it. GW2’s Halloween Act 1 added more content then GW1 ever did and I was pleasantly surprised! You could have just released that act as your Halloween event, but you went further and added the content for Acts 2 and 3 with 4 upcoming. You have seriously set the bar high. Well done!
I guess it can really depend on your body type and how you scaled your head size/width. I choose a “slender” Norn body type and I think I’m fairly proportionate.
I have a level 80 norn mesmer (his name is Subtle Norn Mesmer xD). I generally use Time Warp in a lot more instances then I do Moa Morph and very rarely use the AoE stealth skill (your utility stealth is strangely better). Time warp allows you and other members to go crazy with DPS. Moa Morph does have its uses like making a dungeon fight versus trash mobs a lot more managable, but it’s generally used a lot more heavily in PvP.
The racial elites are mainly for your personal amusement. Don’t get me wrong though. They are practical to use but generally racials aren’t on par with class skills. Hope this helps.
I’m fairly certain that all situations in which you can do something “once per day” are reset 5pm server time as dailies are. If your character mined the ori nodes before he left work at 9am server time and came back to play again at 6pm server time, then he’d be able to again mine those nodes. Though this would mean that being able to mine those nodes again the next morning wouldn’t be possible, since you’ve already hit your limit for the “day”.
Personally, I like these “resets at server 5pm” then a fixed +24 hour timer. This mean you can go almost a whole day without playing then make up for it at the very last minute before the reset.
I could see this being part of a Thankgiving Day event. Everybody donating materials and helping to collectively rebuild the fountain.
While on the subject, I would pay real money to buy different types of underwear. I don’t particularly like the boxers on my human male characters, while the sylvari males get leafy speedos. Anet, you could make a fortune just by simply adding new underwear skins and variation.
Your original post sounds more drastic then intended then. Since magic find comes with damage, there really isn’t this “choice” a player has to make. You don’t need those extra stats of damage that magic find replaces in order to tag more monsters. Your increase in damage output by the stats you’d replace with magic find wouldn’t really matter in tagging mobs to gain more loot.
Also, Magic Find doesn’t increase the rarity of drops. It increases your loot chance since mobs don’t always 100% give you lot even if you’re the only one who dealt damage. Under your MF focused line, “slower loots” simply does not exist.
Instead of doing something so drastic as wanting to have no leveling period, why not make a change to what we have currently? If the gear down scaling is making you weaker due to not being in at level gear, then why not suggest that down scaling gear always give you maximum stats for the down scaled level provided you are equipped with gear at or higher level then the zone? This wouldn’t break the game in any way because a level 80 in a level 10 zone would still be using the max stats a level 10 could possibly achieve. In my opinion, this feels like the most constructive way to attack your problem.
I momentarily felt like I was playing GW1 with how far I was able to zoom out in this dungeon. It was great until I needed to see the red circles on the ground, but even then it was awesome.
Short Answer: The problem you give us just doesn’t really happen the way you explain.
————————————-
For a more in-depth look at Magic Find, let’s look at the stats they are coupled with currently:
Currently, Magic Find is only found on weapons and gear that have damage increasing stats.
Explorer’s : Power/Precision/Magic Find
Traveler’s : Power/Condition Damage / Magic Find
Then we have rune choices that augment whatever stats you preferred on your armor.
Rune of Scavenging: Condition Damage/Magic Find
Rune of the Traveler: Vitality/ Magic Find
Rune of the Pirate: Might Duration / Magic Find
Rune of the Noble: Power / Magic Find
You can also add a (Minor/Major/Superior) Sigil of Luck to any weapon.
Food buffs either come in Power/Magic Find, Condition Damage/Magic Food, $/MF
The issue isn’t that players have to sacrifice damage to get more magic find. Usually you are given some sort of damage increase as you get more magic find. Since there is only one combination that gives more effective health, the main drawback is your character usually becomes a glass cannon.
So if you were arguing that players have to trade off effective health for Magic Find, then you might be going somewhere with that discussion. As it stands, gaining both damage and magic find is a non-issue.
There are currently 8 stats that can be improved via gear: power, precision, toughness, vitality, crit damage, condition damage, healing power, and magic find. There can be at most 3 different stats without considering upgrade components. There are still dozens of combinations that have not been implemented into the game as well as variations of the same combination but with one of the stats being given more points then the others.
As the game progresses, gear stat variety will increase with these new stat distributions being available on certain sets gained through specific methods. We have already seen an example of this with the Halloween event. The new Power / Condition Damage/ Magic Find stat distribution is available via Halloween Weapons and Mad King armor. Adding to stat variety will allow for more types of builds, because it will be easier to get the stat distribution you need without getting “junk” stats your build doesn’t use.
I can understand a group of people wanting to set up the fastest runs possible with the explicit purpose of farming the dungeon. This would naturally call for a group of level 80 players.
With that being said, I still think that auto kicking players based on their level for a dungeon such as this is quite poor character if they didn’t state beforehand what they were looking for in their dungeon group. Yes, there will be players that want to min/max and be extremely efficient. I feel as long as they state they are doing so when looking for more members, then no harm done.
Personally, I have also been doing MK dungeon runs but without the need to make it as fast as possible. One time I got a group of all 80s with the last and fifth member being level 23. I got a tell from one of the players asking me to kick the last member. I didn’t though, because I could care less about efficiency. The dungeon run went very smooth and only took about 2 minutes longer to do.
The editing was incredibly well done. The GW2 character animations were perfect for this. That charr zipping around the background was hilarious. You guys got in some great locations for this too. Great work. =)
^ OMG this. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this.
Oh man I can see it now. "Thank you almighty Skritt commander for saving the world of Tyria from the Elder Dragons. mutters to his subordinate Seriously, we relied on Skritt to save us? Dwyana help us all.
They do give you enough slots to have 1 of each race. However, like other people have posted you will need to purchase additional character slots with gems via real money or in game gold.
I’m sure a lot people have been as eager as I have been in wanting to see Anet implement this class after we were teased with its existence with the cancelation of Utopia years back. Based on the current mechanics of GW2, how would you envision a new profession like this take advantage of the current game elements while making for a unique gamestyle?
Quickness – A Power/Crit and Effect on Crit Playstyle
Personally, I play a lot of mesmer. One of the skills that other players appreciate is Time Warp. Quickness tends to be a bit rare and also has a short duration. Gaining quickness with a non-elite skill usually has some sort of drawback: you take double damage in Frenzy, you can’t be healed during Quickening Zepyhr, and you have endurance drain during Haste.
The Chronomancer should not only have an easier access to quickness and have fewer instances of drawbacks. However, Quickness should only be allowed in short bursts. This would make Quickness usage have a skill factor in which you would need to apply the effect during appropriate portions of a chain of skills to reach maximum effectiveness. So while the quickness buff is quite powerful in its own right, players would need to master being efficient with it. This mechanic of the Chronomancer would adhere to Power/Crit builds and Effect on Crit builds.
Duration Mastery – A Support or Condition Damage Playstyle
The above mechanic alone wouldn’t make for completely unique gameplay. There definitely has to be something new to bring to the table. Pretty much every condition can be found majorly in one or two professions. Confusion is majorly accessible by mesmers while Freezing is majorly accessible by Elementalists. Necromancers also benefit from conditions and use them as a resource. The same can generally be said with boons.
The only real choice left is to have the Chronomancer be able to manipulate the duration of boons and conditions to benefit allies and to harm foes. Solely with this additional mechanic, the Chronomancer has great Support capabilities both offensively and defensively. The Chronomancer would be able to augment the durations of their own conditions, which would make for good Condition Damage playstyle as well.
Hybrid playstyles would utilize the Quickness mechanics to do more power/crit damage while also being able to apply conditions faster with increased action and skill use.
Implementation: F1-F4 or Resource?
So far, we’ve really seen two ways to make use of class mechanics. Most professions currently have special F1-F4 skills that go on cooldown, but can be reduced using traits. Chronomancer would definitely get a self-targeted Quickness of small duration as his F1. I’m unsure of what the others would be
There can also be a resource gain. Similar to Thieves where the Chronomancer can expend X number of resource to do Quickness related actions based on need. There could also be a Warrior-like resource gain in which the Chronomancer can utilize different stages which give him a higher duration of Quickness for each stage.
Possible Skills with Time Theme
Perhaps the Chronomancer can cause brief accelerated aging on his victims and infliction of blindness, weakness, and cripple to signify this. Weakness could be a niche condition for this class to inflict as well. I can also see the Chronomancer using time acceleration on his weapons to make them rust and cause bleeding on hit. Maybe the Chronomancer can have a druidic element to it and have him through various seeds that he can then use time accleration for quick growth. Like growing a big field of tall grass to stealth inside or drop a giant pine tree on someone’s face.
Your Thoughts?
I’m curious to know what you think of my ideas. I also would love to hear yours either going along with one of my suggested mechanics or something entirely different. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I had fun with it. =)
Sentinel VX- Depends on what you are wearing I guess. My character Subtle Norn Mesmer is the tallest possible and wear giant spiked shoulders with these leggings that flow outward whenever he jumps. Needless to say, I was asked to take my clothes off. Some theorized that I dressed like this to the jump puzzle to be given a reason to be naked. I will neither confirm nor deny that theory.
I have no clue how many Anet staff are needed to pull off events like this. Since Anet is majorly working out of Seattle, they want to have manageable work hours for their staff as they appeal to their highest peak time of player concurrency. Hopefully when Anet starts growing and establishing more offices throughout the world, they will have additional groups of teams able to coordinate these events for multiple time zones.
Norn
Mesmer
0 boosts
Amazing hour of gradual progress until I finally got in a final hurdle! Loved it!
takatsu- I will take into consideration linking outside sites if they are easily accessible. My main focus was to provide as much information about the Halloween Acts as possible within the first few posts of a thread instead of everything scattered about. In regards to new events, I believe the letter mailed was just to inform players that minigame tents are set up in each starter zone, so they don’t have to feel obligated to go to Queensdale for them.
I’m glad you enjoy the thread and appreciate your efforts as well to gather information. =)
Braxxis – You craft the recipe in the Mystic forge. The components used to make the recipe are listed in the first post under Gift of X Recipe. They are not obtained via drop.
Lunatic Inquistion
All starter zones now have a Halloween tent set-up fairly close to the main city entrances. Talk to ghost NPC Ramus to enter Lunatic Inquisition PvP mini-game.
The game plays out similar to Zombies. The players are divided into two sides: Villagers and Lunatic Court. Each are trying to compete for points and dominance.
Villagers:
Your objective is simply to survive. Your team starts out with the most players, however, whenever one of your fellow teammates die they will forever join the Lunatic Court as a ghost and enemy player! Your side has the advantage in the beginning of the fight, but steadily lose influence as the game progresses.
Villagers have no innate attacks of their own. Instead, you will need to collect the various environmental weapons to deal damage and CC your opponents. Again, your objective is to survive and help your fellow teammates do so as well.
Since Villagers aren’t the strongest, they need help. Villagers can gather the environmental weapons and turn them into ghost NPCs that will summon armies of helpful Halloween minion allies that will attack any Lunatic Court players.
Northwest NPC collects Bones. Northeast NPC collects Torches.
Southwest NPC collects Black Goo. Southeast NPC collects Spider Webs.
Lunatic Court:
You start off as the minority. Lunatic Court players are randomly chosen from the pool of available players at the start of the match. Your objective is to kill the villagers.
You have 4 new attack skills. Skill 1 is an auto-attack that does minor damage. Skill 2 is a short leap attack that does massive damage. Skill 3 is a short-range fear around your character. Skill 4 is an area placement fear. There is a short delay between the activation of the skill the aoe fear from the totem. This is great for getting runners to come back or run into walls.
Skill 5 is dependent on your environmental weapon. You create various traps that let you hunt villagers a lot easier. Skills 6-8 are based on Mad King Thorn Says. The skills are 1200 range and place a debuff on the villager. If the villager does not perform the correct emote or does so incorrectly, he will be knock downed. This leaves him vulnerable to your attacks or helps bridge the gap on runners.
The winning team is rewarded with PToTs!
More to Come
I haven’t personally been able to do Reaper’s Rumble or the new Clocktower jumping puzzle due to inability to gain access to them.
Thanks again to everyone for constructive criticism, compliments, and added info.
Hey there. Bowmaster Sol here to continue the never ending battle of providing helpful and usable information to the GW2 community. This is a continuation of my Halloween thread aids. You can find my act 1 thread here : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/halloween/Halloween-Act-1-Informational-Aid-With-ToT-Locations/first#post546560
Before I begin talking about what you can expect from Act 2, I would like to list a few errata to my Act 1 thread here:
Personalized ToT Bags
Unfortunately, due to player exploits of the Lion’s Arch overflow servers to gain infinite PToTs, Anet has disabled 5 of the PToT nodes there. This has resulted in a reduction of 11 PToTs per character per day from gathering at suspicious locations. Effected sites are as follows: Lion’s Arch sewers, old Lion’s Arch fountain, and old Lion’s Arch twin lion statues.
No new PToT locations were added in Act 2 to my knowledge, so the current total is 21 PToTs per character per day for a total of 85. The good news is that there are now additional sources to gain PToTs in Act 2 through the new PvP minigames Lunatic Inquisition and Reaper’s Rumble.
Crafting of Permanent Halloween Weapons
Since this was a topic of much debate, I created a thread of its’ own. I reinforce the fact that players do not need to grind to the extremes that some posters on the forums were claiming. The only mats you need to have before this event ends are the Halloween crafting mats. Everything else can be collected and complied at your own pace. If you don’t feel like gathering mats, then they will surely be on the TP to buy. Here is the thread : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/halloween/Casual-Crafting-of-Permanent-Halloween-Weapons/first#post549478
New Halloween Crafting Recipes
I spoke very generally about these new recipes as not to spoil anything for players that enjoy discovering these on their own. I will link the wiki that includes specifics for all the new recipes:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Candy_corn
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chattering_Skull
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nougat_Center
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Plastic_Fang
Mystic Forge Conversion Recipes
Mad King Chest: 1 Candy Corn, 6 Mystery Tonics, and 2 Boosters.
The following conversions are dependent on how much you use. If you want more Chattering Skulls from the conversion, then increase the amount of Plastic Fangs and Nougat Centers you put into the forge for these recipes.
??xChattering Skulls: 1ToT Bag, ??x Nougat Center, ??x Plastic Fangs, 1 Master’s Salvage Kit
??xPlastic Fangs: 1 ToT Bag, ??x Nougat Center, ??x Chattering Skulls, 1 Master’s Salvage Kit
?? Nougat Center: 1 ToT Bag, ??x Plastic Fangs, ??x Chattering Skulls, 1 Master’s Salvage Kit

Halloween Act 2 Information
Disclaimer: I will not be talking about anything related to the gem store yet again. I placed the Mad King Chest recipe above for completeness.
Scavenger Hunt Part 2
If you completed the first scavenger hunt in Act 1, then you are familiar with the process. Use the hint from your reward book backing to take you to the location of the ghost that gives you page 7, which in turn will give your the clue for page 8. When you collect all pages from 6 to 12 turn them in to Magister Tassi in LA for your next reward. I personally love it!
There are no new PToTs with this additional hunt. Instead, most of the ghosts will need for you to complete an event in order to get them to appear. They will stay out in the world for a few minutes before someone else needs to start the event again. I did not notice my candy meter showing strong signals, yet you will need to use it to show the Suspicious Locations. This may be fixed in a future hotfix.
I will wait until later on tonight to post the specific locations of these new ghosts and let you guys use your noodle until then. These locations are again limited to Krytan areas up to Sparkfly Fen.
New Halloween Dynamic Events
Madness is starting to leak through at an increasing rate in Tyria, specifically the Krytan areas. New event chains with hordes of Mad Thorn minions have been added to Queensdale. Help the Priory out and take the fight into the Realm of Madness itself!
Realm of Madness Labryinth
Step through one of the Halloween doors and you will find yourself in this domain. Here there is nothing but Halloween mobs. The mobs here are level 80 but level scaling will be implemented similar to WvW. This is a great addition for the casual player, because it allows you to gain a lot more drops and ToTs. Complete the event in the center for chest reward with a chance to gain exotic items!!!!
Egon – I can understand your position. I have simply provided the necessary information on what goes into crafting this weapon. There was a lot of misunderstanding going around that players had to grind all of the components before the event ends. I wanted to inform the community that this isn’t the case. Only the candy corn and rare Halloween mats need to be obtained. 2500 candy corn seems a lot, but are easily obtained. Also, the price will probably drop to such a degree that by the end of the event you can spend 25s to 1g to buy all of them if you really don’t want to gather them yourselves through the available sources.
Again, I highly recommend players to gather their PToTs from suspicious locations on all their characters. Each “run” takes at most 12 minutes, netting you an average 8 assorted rare Halloween mats per character.
I tried to make it clear that this is meant to be a long-term goal. I also wanted to show that all but one of the non-Halloween mats can be obtained little by little over 2-3 month period with zero grinding and minimal cost. Again, the length of time increases based on how much time you have available, but the major point in this thread is to show that after the gathering of Halloween mats, everything else is at your own pace. If working up to something for a long-term isn’t appealing, then that’s a personal decision. However, I wanted to make it clear that these weapon skins aren’t exclusive to the minority of rich players. They will just get it sooner and spend more gold then you.
(edited by BowmasterSol.3457)
Theory- You will need 100 candy corn for each superior sigil of night. Since you need 20 sigils for each weapon that will put your total of candy corn up to 4000 for just the sigil creation. There is also 250 candy corn needed per gift. I’m also looking into the actual superior sigil recipe, which may take 250 candy corn as well. This would bring your grand total for 2 weapons somewhere around 4750 candy corn.
Vzur – You have a chance to get 1 to 3 of a rare Halloween crafting mat when opening your ToT bags. I’ve opened around 400 PToTs and have gotten about 55 of each rare mat. Since you’re specifically looking to create only one item, you could either convert the other 2 mats into nougats or sell what you don’t need and buy more nougats off the TP using that money.
Nox – You can buy them from other players off the TP. I don’t think the kids sell the recipes themselves.
“Plus, it’s bath night for Mr. Gum Drops, and King Thorn is NEVER late to bath night!”

Why I am not enticed to buy costumes in GW2, but had ALL of them in GW1
Posted by: BowmasterSol.3457
I would also like to add that Town Clothes would be better off having a passive swiftness buff to them. The main reason I don’t wear them isn’t because I don’t think they look cool, but that moving around town is a lot faster and enjoyable with your combat armor and weapon skills. Sure I could go get a swiftness buff from one of the npcs, but that only lasts for 5 minutes.
skullmount- I don’t have any pictures myself, but there are some on reddit.
Vzur- I recommend you go to my Halloween Act 1 thread and read about the PToT locations. That’s 85 PToTs a day you could be opening to increase your amount of nougat centers. =)
kmortonson – I only kept the possibility open for the Superior Sigils as I have not personally knew the acquisition of them. After doing some research into it, you are correct in that you can not craft these via mystic forge. With that said, I’m still a little hazy on how to actually get the recipe. I know they have a rare chance to drop from ToTs and PToTs. I also came across a mystic forge recipe on the forums: 250 candy corn + 25 Chattering Skulls + 25 Nougat Centers + 25 Plastic Fangs. Unfortunately, I have heard different things regarding the output of the recipe. Some say it’s solely for Major Sigil of Night recipe, while others say it has a chance to create either major/superior sigil of night recipe.
Not to rub insult to injury, but you should probably just stick to Scavenger Hunt PToTs as they are free. Then use any excess candy corn to trade for more PToTs. You can currently get 21 PToTs per character per day for a total of 85 through that method. This will save you a lot of gold then just outright buying candy corn and trading. =)
Hsinimod- Yes. Unfortunately 11 of the Personal ToTs were taken out of LA due to exploiting of overflow servers. This will be part of Act 1 errata I will include when I create an Act 2 thread. I believe the best Candy Corn => Personal ToT ratio for the trick or treaters in LA is 50 Candy Corn => 8 ToTs, which comes out to 6.5 Candy Corn per bag.
ElenaDragon- gratz. This confirms that Superiors are dropped from them as well.
Illithis- For specific recipes, I would check the wiki. However, I will be including specific recipes when I make an Act 2 thread.
Coltz- I listed the amount necessary to make all 20 sigils.
Penatbater – Thanks for the estimate. Now people know not to spend 500+ gold like is advertised on the TP. Personally, I haven’t been able to get the 5 ToTs in LA anymore from the Diving Board, but if this is still active then that increases the total from 16 to 21 Personal ToTs per character per day for a grand total of 85 in Act 1. The rest of the locations can be found in my other thread that is linked in my first post. =)
konggorilla – I believe Anet has made it possible to either forge the recipe so that someone can craft directly from their crafting station or just forge the sigil itself via the mystic forge. I will look into this more specifically and update the thread as needed.
Vzur – Again, I believe Anet made it possible to do all this via Mystic Forge but I will list the needed 400 craft skills as needed and update the thread.
Theory- All 20 superior sigils require 2000 candy corn not individually. =)
Sorry for any confusion. In the thread, I use Gift of X to generally talk about the creation process. Replace X with Souls in your case since you want the Crossing staff.
Next under Gift of X recipe is a list of what you need to craft the recipe. Replace 100 X Rare Halloween Mat with 100 Nougat Centers. Again, this is because you want the Crossing Staff.
Lastly, under Gift of X creation list is 100 lodestone. Replace this with 100 Crystal Lodestones in your case, because you want this specific item. I hope that clarifies the process for you. =)
I recommend switching your in game clock to “server” time via the options. Act 1 started around 8:30pm server time (PST). I’m assuming it will begin anywhere from 6:00pm-9:00pm server time.
I also believe it will begin when the event progress bar fills up in Lion’s Arch.
I just updated my thread. I put the info you were looking for in the 2nd post of that thread. The crafting process is explained in general in the first post. Specifics are gained from info in the 2nd post. =)
I added weapon specific creation info in the secondary post. I realized that I was talking about creation generally, but players may want specifics.
There are temporary versions of these skins available in Lion’s Arch for 150 Candy Corn or 6s each. This allows you to get a feel of the craftable weapons.
The crafted weapons are tradeable. There are some being sold on the TP for a crazy amount.
You can either buy the recipe and mats from other players on the TP or make it yourself. I recommend you see my thread on crafting these: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/halloween/Casual-Crafting-of-Permanent-Halloween-Weapons/first#post543607
I haven’t yet, but will be adding specifics on the 3 weapons in the post following the first post for ease of use. =)
Lucas – I meant that using personalized ToT as your only source that a casual player can get a decent amount of rare Halloween crafting mats over time. I apologize for the wording and have fixed it. I mentioned other sources as well to avoid future confusion.
Paradox- Added Mad King Chest as a possible method of obtaining Halloween crafting mats. Placed it in the post after, because I purposely didn’t include it for said reasons. I put it there for sake of completeness.
Replace 100 X Rare Halloween Mat and “Lodestone” with the appropriate item based on your weapons:
The Crossing staff
Gift of Souls Recipe: 100 Nougat Center
Gift of Souls: 100 Crystal Lodestone
Arachnophobia shortbow
Gift of Spiders Recipe: 100 Plastic Fangs
Gift of Spiders: 100 Destroyer Lodestones
Mad Moon shield
Gift of the Moon recipe: 100 Clattering Skulls
Gift of the Moon: 100 Corrupted Lodestones
Superior Sigil of Night: 1 Onyx/Charged/Glacial Lodestone (You don’t need all three to make one. Rather, you are given three different ways to make this sigil.)
Mad King Chest: You can craft a Mad King Chest in the mystic forge using 1 Candy Corn, 6 Mystery Tonics, and 2 Boosters. These have a high chance of giving you decent quantities of Candy Corn and rare Halloween mats. I purposely did not include this in my original post, because I didn’t want to influence gem shop purchase of BLC keys. However, the possibility is there so perform and buy at your own risk.
Reserving this space in case I need to put information at the top of this thread. If you feel like this post was very helpful, feel free to respond. I wouldn’t want such information to be lost in obscurity (or under mounds of emotionally driven threads).
(edited by BowmasterSol.3457)
Hey there everybody. I have decided to make a new thread to again help out the GW2 community. This time I will talk about the new weapons. If you enjoy this thread, then take a look at my a Halloween Act 1 thread here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/halloween/Halloween-Act-1-Informational-Aid-With-ToT-Locations/first#post541430
So there has been a lot of negativity going around on the topic of the permanent Halloween Weapons. Casual players feel like they have been left out or have been given an impossible task. I will come out now and say it to you directly:
You can do it at your own pace. (I believe in you! Believe in yourself! )
Yeah. That probably wasn’t convincing enough for you, so let’s take a look at the creation process. In bold are the Halloween event mats that can only be obtained at this time (unless you buy from the TP after the event).
Gift of X (Spiders, Souls, Moon) Recipe
-250 Candy Corn
-40 Elonian Wine

Let’s see how a casual player would go about obtaining and crafting this weapon. First the Halloween specific items:
Candy Corn: Readily accessible. People are swimming in this stuff.
Rare Halloween Mats: These can be obtained from Halloween mobs, regular ToTs, and Personal Tots. Just from Personal ToTs alone (which you can get 16 per character per day for a total of 80 solely with Act 1 locations) you should be able to get at least half of these.
That is all a casual player needs to obtain during this event for Halloween stuff. If you need help with this, I recommend you see my Informational Aid on Act 1.
And now for the rest of the mats that are non-Halloween and may be obtained at your own pace
Elonian Wine: For a long term goal, 10g could be achieved in a month with casual play. This makes the gift recipe comparable in price to others and I don’t see anything wrong with it at all.
Piles of Crystalline Dust: Cheap on the TP and not that hard to get at all.
Dungeon Tokens: Assuming you are casually playing doing 1 path a day 3 times a week, then this too can be completed in a month.
Orichalcum Ingot: If you make mining the nodes a task on your checklist when you get to play, you can accomplish this within 1.5 to 2 months, assuming you aren’t playing every day.
Ectoplasm: You basically need one successful salavage of a rare 76+ weapon each time you play the game to meet your checklist for the day. This can be easily done within a month or 2.
Eldritch Scroll: You can gain an extra skill point easily each time you play on a lvl 80 character. This can be accomplished within a month or 2.
Mystic Coins: Buy them off the TP or get one each time you play. Gain 20 for completing monthly. This can be casually completed within 2 to 3 months.
——-
So far, all of the above items can be obtained without excessive farming. Sure it may take 2 or 3 months to achieve the gathering of the mats, but this is a long-term goal.
Now let’s take a look at what is currently the limiting factor for most players:
Lodestones. The reason for their high price value is their low availability. The reason for their low availability are the low drops rates in combination with the few mobs that drop certain lodestones. Glacial and Molten lodestones are fairly accessible, while the others are not or currently only made via the mystic forge.
So what is a casual player to do? Simply just wait. We know that additional content updates will come, expanding the world by adding new events, zones, mobs, and dungeons. It is inevitable for these lodestones to drop in price once specific content is released. For example, once we start the fight on Jormag more lvl 80 zones and mobs will be added to the game. This will increase the availability of Corrupted Cores and Corrupted Lodestones, which in turn will lower the price.
So the method to minimize time investment and frustration obtaining these lodestones are to simply wait. Of course if you want the item now with the current pricing and availability, players should expect to pay or play a lot more to get them.
I hope this has been a constructive response. Do remember the GW2 works around a different philosophy then other MMOs. If you work with their philosophy, then the game is quite enjoyable and entertaining. Making a long-term goal into a short-term goal will naturally make it a grind.

In addition to discovering the recipes, there is a small chance that Trick-or-Treat bags can contain Major version recipes of the new rune and sigil.
There were are a total of 32 ToT locations in Act 1: 16 in LA and 16 in other Krytan locations. You are still able to get the other 16 per character per day. Alternatively, you can trader candy corn to trick or treaters for more Perasonalized ToT bags.
