I assume you didn’t want too see Guild missions either? As most of what you have stated here is exactly what is related to Guild Missions currently.
I was excited for them! But Guild Missions are terrible the way they are. Fortunately, they are completely optional and therefore can be completely ignored.
But how are raids any different? Guild commendations can get you gear that you can’t get anywhere else. So if you want some of that, missions are no longer optional. And that’s perfectly fine. Pretty much every type of activity in the game has it’s own specific set of rewards. These rewards are all mathematically the same, but they look different. All the OP is asking is to introduce new content that would be instanced, balanced around larger groups and more challenging than what we’ve seen so far. Because, let’s face it, everything this game has to offer in PvE is about as difficult as pushing ‘1’ on your keyboard. I fully support that.
Why would you be against this? I would like to get a legendary weapon. However, this requires me to do map completion, which I detest. I don’t like running around maps hunting for vistas and PoIs. My solution? I gave up on legendaries and simply ignore that aspect of the game. Or I could be like you and ask for that content to be removed from the game because other people get stuff that I don’t. C’mon, that’s not cool.
Some of us would like to raid in this game. This thread is for us. Those that don’t like it really have no business here. Content would not be removed from the game to make room for raids. Literally everything else would remain the same, just as you like it now. You do your thing, we’ll do ours.

I’d say the first definition fits perfectly. Next white knight, please.
So far the top three people on these forums whose opinions I respect are Vayne, tolunart and Tengu. I don’t agree with everything each of them says, but they offer insight and logic with the majority of their comments they make, and their opinions are of value to me. Thank you for that.
Huh. I would put those three on the bottom of my list of people I respect. Not because I almost never agree with them, but because of the know-it-all, snarky attitudes. To each their own, I suppose.
Back on topic, I agree with OP. Buffing the underpowered skills is the way to achieve balance, not the other way around.
It is true that people often fill their posts with exaggerations, and the OP is no exception. Any post critical towards the game is usually deemed as hate or rage, whine, QQ or whatever you like to call it.
I think this is an amazing game. The best MMO on the market, by far. However, I think it’s far from being complete, let alone perfect. I approve of people criticising the game, as they point out the flaws that still need to be worked on. Even if the point is not something that I personally care about, it might make some of the players happy, and I see that as a good thing. I grant you, there is the occasional post written in caps and full of exclamation marks, but really, who takes those seriously, anyway.
The game needs a lot of work. There are bugs too numerous to mention, features still not present in the game. Player feedback might reveal something the devs have neglected, even though it might come off as negative. But that’s how you get things done.
The above reasons either make no sense, or are your personal preference. How about they do implement it, and you are free not to use it?
Tried the instance today. Horrendous. And that’s with muted sound.
Hey Anet, can you now start working on some 32-bit instances that feature difficult bosses designed for squads of 20ish players?
Anyone arguing that ascendeds are a marginal upgrade will get a harsh lesson in humility should they ever decide to join WvW and face fully ascended geared players. Also, you are naive to think that Anet will not be introducing new PvE content tailored specifically for that level of gear, or that progression will stop with ascended.
I can already smell the forum posts. ‘I never did my ascended grind, coz everyone kept saying it wasn’t mandatory. And now these elitists won’t take me in their groups!’
My advice, stop listening to these kittens, get on the treadmill and save yourself future grief.
Because you know how the rest of ascended gear will be required, or even what WvW upgrades to get ascended gear will hit in March.
Can I borrow your crystal ball when you’re done with it?
Wait, what? Who said anything about March?
And yeah, you can borrow my crystal ball. It’s called Common Sense with a special flavor Past Experience.

Why so mad over one armor set? If the visual isn’t appealing to you, simply transmute it, the armor will offer the same benefits to you regardless of what it looks like.
Seriously, with all the problems this game has, you get upset over something so trivial…
I will never believe that people are paying thousands of dollars for in game items. I’m not calling ANYONE here a liar, I have no doubt that there are tons of stories people tell about spending that much, but I absolutely can’t believe that.
There are Legendary items on the TP that would cost more then a mid sized car if bought with cash. I don’t believe for a second that anyone is spending that much money on Video Game items. That’s pure insanity.
Hmmm, considering your signature, I’m very surprised at this comment.
Any item that takes time and effort to acquire will have some intrinsic value to the person that’s after it. It doesn’t matter if it’s hamburgers, diamonds or pieces of binary code. Hamburgers you can eat, so they have obvious value. Diamonds, well, all they do is look shiny, yet people still spend fortunes on buying them. A video game sword not only looks shiny, but also helps you kill video game monsters.
Point is, people work to earn their money to purchase stuff with it. Items bought with that money will thus have real value, regardless if they’re virtual or not. And hey, most of your money is nothing but 1s and 0s in some bank’s database.
Can this get fixed already, please? No point introducing more bugged content while there are still bugs in the old.
‘We will release the game when it’s ready.’ Yeah, cool story, bro.
I can hear the mantra in my sleep.
‘Nobody is forcing you to do anything. You don’t need to do anything you don’t want.’
Yep, there are other ways to get the laurels. Oh, wait…
Critickitten is the kryptonite to this game’s white knights. My hat is off to you, sir!
(edited by Bubbles.1047)
Yay, suffer thru 5 dungeons for 10 laurels.
‘Play the game the way you want to’. My kitten.
GW2 is a pay-to-win game run by a gold selling company. The gold sellers are providing competition, thus making sure the price of gold remains low. The gold buyers are playing the game as intended. Now tell me, why would I report either of those groups?
I think less effort should go into fixing this engine and more effort devoted to finalizing the DX11 engine.
Do you realize how ridiculous your claim sounds? I’m not a fan of Arenanet’s constant blunders but for them to go out of their way to flag you is pretty kitten crazy.
Oh, I wouldn’t put it past them. Remember, this is the same company that banned a person for cooking live on stream.
Well, haven’t seen one of these threads before. Kinda decent attempt at trolling, I guess.
Yeah dude, those are European servers, don’t you know you’re supposed to use the European language there?
/sarcasm
i posted this in a thread.
“if I was in Arena.NET’s “Department of Making Awesome Excuses”, i will make it appear like Ascended item was the natural progression of item upgrades.
How?
By telling you players that Exotics which accomodated runes and sigils are meant to be ascended with the runes and sigils and jewels attributes.
See, exotics will be the first step in the process. you can configure your exotic jewels to be berserker+emerald jewel and whalla, ascend it to have berserker+emerald stats with a slight increase. or you can configure your exotic weapons and armors with runes and sigil, ascend it and the ascended version will have the rune/sigil attributes.
this ascended versions are fixed and cannot be reconfigured but the infusions and the only way to reconfigure your ascended gear is to go the exotic way again and do all the configuration there with the appropriate jewel, rune or sigil and ascend them again.
with this setup, exotics are not obsoleted and is a prerequisite to get the ascended item.
and yes, thank you, A.NET in advanced. i’ll take a donation."
basically using Gift of Ascension and our current exotics. Yes, our current exotics as precursors for ascended.
This one post made more sense than the entire Anet team put together.
+1
The only reason why my P/P damage is subpar is because I have to stop and rez a melee player every 5 seconds.
When do I get Ascended rings? I’ve grinded Fractals level 10 for about 6 days now with no success of a ring, let alone the ones I wanted (Crystalline or Red Ring)
I’m just curious about the statistics here. Someone else got 6 rings within his 10 runs: [ Ouroboros Loop] [Rurik’s Royal Signet Ring] [Royal Signet of Doric] [Crystalline Band] [Red Ring of Death]
Whereas I had 0 after each time I beat the Jaw Maw. I just got tokens and some gold. I’m wondering what I did wrong, if I did anything wrong? Is it bugged? What is the success rate of others?
From what I’ve seen so far, it seems there are 2 groups of people. Those that get rings all the time and those that never do. Not sure if this is intended or a bug, but regardless, looks like you, much like myself, belong to the latter. Grats! My advice, save yourself the frustration and give up on FOTM.
Haven’t you figured it out by now? Anet doesn’t want you to have fun in their game.
Wow, is it just me or is all I see just a bunch of petulant children in this forum? I was in Cursed Shores for 2 hours today, and with random people we cleared the Cathedral of Silence and the Promentory of the gods all the way to the gates of Arah.
But you know ArenaNet shame on you, I mean it’s not like you’ve fixed the 150 some bugged skill points in the game that were stopping world completion, or the hundreds of bugged dynamic events that were causing people to complain like this a few months ago. I mean who could think that with a load of work on your plate it would take more than, say, 10 minutes to come up for a solution for these kids? Seriously I think some people need a time out!
It’s just you.
It still amazes me that in this world of rampant obesity; healthy, slender women are now considered anorexic and underweight.
My thoughts exactly.
Good job Anet for getting rid of the RMT competition, and for banning such exploiters as people who cook or go AFK in the Mists.
Wait, what? These are random? I’m just starting to get into the early teens with my fractals and the agony is starting to hurt like kitten. I just assumed some agony res would be awarded to help combat it. Kitten. I’ve played since release and have never seen an exotic drop, and now I’m supposed to wait until an ascended drops at random? And I only get one chance per day? Really? Guess I’m done with this dungeon…
This should be stickied and the developers should read it every day when they come to work.
Armors and female characters…In my opinion it’s silly to see a female character running trough snow with a miniskirt and a top. She’ll probably freeze, and how does that protect you from any attack? It probably makes you even more vulnerable.
It would be great to see a female character wearing something little less revealing and something that actually protects from damage, so a toggle option would be nice I guess.
Pixel people don’t feel heat, or pain. None of their body parts are any more vulnerable than any other. How well they are protected is purely dependent on a numerical value associated with the armor they are wearing, not it’s appearance. You don’t need to worry about female toons. They are fully protected, head to toe, by numbers.

What a joke company. Can’t believe it’s the same people that made GW1.
Sorry you had a bad experience, OP. I liked the new dungeon a lot. Yesterday was the first time I set foot in a dungeon since Arah explorable back in early September. It felt great not being one-shot by everything. I really hope future dungeons will follow suit.
If you can point out, which part of this announcement explicitly points out that arenanet are turning GW2 into a gear threadmill, power creep snowball. Then your argument might actually hold weight. But you cannot, because it’s simply not there.
Maybe you missed it but…
https://d2vn94glaxzkz3.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Ascended-EN.png
There you have it, power creep, small, weak, almost unoticable, but power creep after all.
Don’t bother. White knights never listen to reason.
Apologies if it wasn’t your intention, but even with the ‘if’ in your post, it still does sound and read like a QQ post over this whole new armour issue.
But again, apologies for the misunderstanding.
Nope. There were no tears, nor the implication of anyone crying in the post that you quoted. That was just you, being rude.
You know, avoiding words like ‘crying’ and ‘whining’ might lend a lot of credence to your arguments. Just saying…
For me, it’s all the invisible people.
Pretty sure prices on those won’t ever go down. Too many people want to be special snowflakes.
Did someone call me?
That sentence makes perfect sense. They run events on the days/time they have the MOST people playing. Which is Noon PST on the weekends. They can’t please everyone, so what they’re doing is pleasing as many as they can.
But they can please everyone. By making the event instanced.
I’ve spent quite a lot of time swimming in this game and I can say that, in Tyria, neither gravity nor buoyancy exist underwater. You can see that for yourself if you let your toon be perfectly still. Thus, these changes are not needed, in my opinion.
In reality though, the male armor models are typically much better. Many of the female models are pretty “skimpy”, which looks a bit odd in heavy armor.
Took me a long while to find 2-3 sets that I can switch between that don’t resemble a bikini!
You say that like it’s a bad thing.
I don’t get this thread. Normally, I would be opposed to the presence of RMT in a game, but when the game developer itself is an RMT company, then I want competition among them.
Here’s an informative link, might give some insight:
if you’re level 80, you dont get any more xp, because it’s the maximum level.
…
You can’t be serious…
I’ve gotten a few puzzling and funny infractions myself. Made me think they make the mods eat some weird shrooms before they go to work…
tl;dr for page 1. One of the most vocal opponents of the OP kept calling other posters spoiled and entitled, kept reducing their posts to ‘wahhh wahhh’, somehow got it in their head that people had to ‘reevaluate their friendships’ because they were viewing them as ‘tools’ (wait, what?), and started offering life advice based on this fantasy. And then it turns out, they aren’t even halfway to level 80 yet, which is what this entire thread is all about. I’m not even kidding. It’s been a long time since last I saw someone so… Actually, never mind, I don’t wanna get infracted.
On topic, I agree with OP. GW1 had a great teleport system with an amazing price attached to it. Wish we could have that…
Impossible to hold with such ease hunk of metal that weighs like you. Also, now the animation is almost the same, as with all the other weapons. Became a little boring.
The medieval greatswords weigh between 6 and 10 lbs. You must be pretty small if you weigh that much.
Hell yes. An addon API would be greatly appreciated.
@Ruien, here’s a unique idea, before you post in a topic, read what the people are talking about. If you’d have done that you wouldn’t have said anything in the first place.
They already said they were ‘laughing at the playerbase’. You think a person like that would ever post anything remotely constructive?
OP tells tre truth. Any game needs new content added if people are to continue playing it. Which is why all MMOs add new content periodically. As does GW. This is all common knowledge. What was the point again?
This is a pay-to-win game. Why would you feel bad about playing the game the way it was meant to be played? Just go ahead and spend the money if you can afford it.
