Even worse that they went and stopped Beyond. People would return to GW1 for new content. People still play GW1 even. It’s still lively in the major cities when I log on from rare time to time (only rarely because I’ve gone and done just about everything but beginning zone profession-specific quests).

I would murder for that Elona based beyond chapter. It’s the chapter I was excited about the most, but no… I will now silently sob and listen to sad music, while the room turns inexplicably black and white.

If Orr is ever cured, who will inhabit it?

Okay, I give it a shot…

What “Ancestral Land” are you talking about? Orr isn’t the ancestral home of any of the nations on the Tyria right now. Stragglers and refuges need to stand up and be counted before we can possibly claim that the Orrian culture isn’t dead. So far, they’re keeping quiet. If they existed, they should have been the FIRST Living Story, not a forgotten footnote.

Orr is as much human ancestral land as ascalon is Charr ancestral land. Even more so in fact. As I already explained countless times in this thread humans have a claim that is valid by their own legal system. In human law a kingdom is bound to a single person, not the people or borders or anything else. It works pretty much like a european kingdom worked in the middle ages. This one person is the monarch, in Tyria, it obviously doesn’t matter if the monarch is male or female but there has to be one.
If the last remaining monarch dies, you have to find the closest relative of the monarch and crown this person. No monarch means no kingdom. However, if no monarch is around, even if it is for hundreds of years, the kingdom can still be restored, if someone can proof that he is related to the last monarch or his family (in Tyria’s case, it could even go as far back as King Doric!). As long as humans find someone (and with Queen Jennah alone, they already have a descendant of Doric) they can restore Orr according to their own law.
The important thing, do the other races give a crap about human laws? The Charr didn’t in the case of Ascalon, so they took it by force, but it did cost them a lot. I doubt they would do the same for a remote peninsula that is of little strategical value for them (note how they, while experimenting with nautical warfare, are still a land based power). Of course, what helped the Charr in Ascalon’s case, despite it being directly south of their homeland is also that they had that “sort of” valid claim (since they have no legal system about owning territory, that we know of) that Ascalon is their ancestral homeland. Not really true since they just conquered it first, but apparently solid enough so that no outside power would see the Charr’s occupation of Ascalon as illegitimate.
Orr on the other hand, never was Charr land. All they did was send an army there, which got blown up. That’s no basis for a claim and could lead to other races, and political groups to perceive the Charr as power hungry conquerers (well I guess the humans already do :P).
To sum it up, the Charr don’t need Orr and trying to get it would only ignite the flames of war between Charr and humans again, thereby destroying Smodur’s, Malice’s and Jennah’s hard work. In other words, it would be the single most brain-dead thing the Charr could possibly do.

Kryta used to be more mediterranean/pacific than european in GW1. Sadly it got ascalonified in GW2, through the more generic middle/west european ascalonians. It still has a bit of an italien renaissance feel, but that’s it.
Orr seems to have a lot of middle eastern/arabic, with titles like Vizier and the name Orr itself being an arabic word.

Again, they aren’t universally loved. Many members of the other four races feel uneasy around sylvari. You mentioned Caithe and Killeen, but both had problems fitting into their respective groups. Logan and Rytlock still think Caithe is shady, a ‘conniving vegetable’, and Killeen creeped Dougal out repeatedly. There are NPCs, particularly in the Black Citadel and, iirc, either Rata Sum or Metrica Province that share the opinion that they are spreading worryingly fast, often invoking the term ‘weeds’. Bottom line, the sylvari are not universally loved. ANet just put too much emphasis on them, trying to make up for their absence from GW1, and people can’t be bothered to look past the resultant deluge of good press.

Killeen and Caithe are both slightly uncanny to their respective groups, but still very much liked, especially Killeen. The whole first chapters of GoA is just Dougal thinking “I shouldn’t like anyone, so I’m not said if one of them dies. Whoops too late, I like the Sylvari”. Or later, Gullik appears in his drunken rage. Who calms him down? Of course the Sylvari!
Who is the only one activley trying to get Destiny’s Edge back to working together? Of course Caithe, the Sylvari. Why? Because she is only one not hated by anyone else in the group. I’m so glad that there isn’t any Sylvari in Sea of Sorrows, it made the book sooo much better. In SoS we only have a human, Marriner tyring to get the races work together and unlike the Sylvari he has to use logic, compassion and sometimes violence to make this happen. A Sylvari would have simply known every other character personally (despite being very young) and calmy talked them into working together because he/she says so.

I spent a lot of time in the cities trying to get the most dialogs possible, so I heard a lot pro-sylvari stuff. I never came across anything negative, but if you say so, okay why not. Still that’s awfully much positive stuff and a tiny bit negativity towards them. I think it should have been the other way round. For the reasons I alreay explained, I think the Sylvari should be seen with a lot more suspicion, than they are.

Personally I like the conflict they bring to Tyria.

The problem is, they don’t. There is barely anything negative about the Sylvari, especially no conflict. Or can you give me a valid source of anything ingame that alludes to this conflict?

I had a nice discussion about Sylvari in a p.m. about half a year ago. Basically, I also think Sylvari are pretty pointless and don’t really fit into the game, imo. I’ll just quote my p.m. for deeper explanation.

“Well with me, the Sylvari already had a bad start. In the very first article about GW2 in 2007 they showed a concept art of one of them. This one: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/8/82/Sylvari_03_concept_art.jpg

I really don’t like “fairy” races, especially not if they look like underaged girls in skimpy outfits (yes I know she has boobs, but still). Maybe I’m overprotective, but sexulization of what looks to be teens seems wrong to me.

However they got redesigned later on, and I have to say they look better now, even though slightly uncanny. I even made a Sylvari on the last beta weekend. But when I played them, I saw how completly “lawful good” they are, if you excuse my D&D term. Nothing really edgy about them. Of course there is the Nightmare Court, but you said it yourself, they are the exact opposite. A grey area does not really seem to exist for Sylvari.
If I play a Charr, I know they can be ruthless, but at the same time they would risk their own life to safe a member of their warband. If I play a Norn, I know they can be drunken trouble makers, but at the same time glady go into a fight with 10 minotaurs without any weapon, just to by a group of unarmed civilians some time. If I play a Asura I know they can be arrogant and egoistical to a point there you want to punch them in their rat faces, but at the same time their making an invention that could save thousands of lifes.
With the Sylvari I don’t see that. They are good through and through and that is boring for me. They just get along with everybody at any time. Before the game was released there was this blogpost about how the Asura made experiments on them. I thought this was a great idea for those to races to hold a grudge for another, but no, no such thing in the game, atleast not very pronounced like the human-Charr “cold-war”.
In fact it’s always the Sylvari that are the piece brokers. Hey Destiny’s Edge doesn’t work together anymore because everyone hates the other, except Caithe, everyone likes her. Hey everyone in Dougal Keene’s in the catacombs of Divinity’s Reach hates each other, except Killeen, everyone likes her. Hey the 3 Orders of Tyria wont work together, except if the Sylvari Trahearne wants them too. See the pattern?
But that’s not all. Listen to NPC gossip and try to find the ones that talk about the Sylvari. There are some, like 2 Asura in Lion’s Arch, or a Kodan in Frostgorge. Do they have anything bad to say? No, in fact everyone always praises the Sylvari. An NPC even mentions how they are the best smiths, because they make good swords without bragging about it.

Heck, this race is only 25 years old and they already have a population about the size of all those much older races and no one thinks that is suspicious? If I was a citizen of Tyria I would be afraid of the Sylvari. The NC proves they are capable of gruesome acts, and they birth rate is so much higher than anyone elses, not to forget they are fully grown and combat ready when they are born. I would probably fear the Syvlari more than any dragon.
But nope, they are universally loved by everyone on Tyria. And that does not make sense in my opinion. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not a xenophobe, even if the above paragraphe might make me look like one. It just baffles me that the races of Tyria, that distrust each other so much, all accept the Sylvari so easily and no one ever has a second thought about them. I think that’s just bad writing."

Dessa is very much from the present. She knows about the consortium. She likely talks LA down because it is, in fact, full of pirates and Sylvari are fairly uninteresting to someone in her line of work. She’s been in that lab for god knows how long, with no intention of ever leaving, so the emergence of some tree-people passing her by is no biggie. Hell, I don’t even remember where she mentions not knowing about the Sylvari.

I think she does when you play a sylvari. I have none myself, but it has been mentioned often enough by people, so I think it’s safe to say it’s true (I also saw a screenshot of the dialog somewhere, probably on the Guru).
But Dessa is heavily implied to be from the past, by her statement about Sylvari. Of course it’s not ancient past, but atleast about 25 years. It’s possible that Sylvari were awakened when Dessa was around, but had not made contact with the asura yet, or just so recently that their existence wasn’t common knowledge.
Besides that, I’m pretty sure a race of scrientists would be up to date with scientific discoveries. Even if the Sylvari are not in Dessa’s field of research, I’m pretty sure she would have heard about them. It’s not like an everyday occurance that an entire race of sapient plant people appiers right in front of your home territory. I don’t think any asura could have ignored that.
And who knows how old the consortium is? As players we only came into contact with it recently, that does not mean it wasn’t around for far longer.

Looking at charr’s teeth, yeah, I’m pretty sure they are primarily carnivore, like cats.
That doesn’t mean that eating vegetables would kill them, just that not eating meat would. I mean, as humans, we can chose not to eat meat, but I don’t think the charr can.
You see, dry cat food is made of corn and/or soybean, too, not only fat, meat and bones (though they must have high levels of animal protein). Cat food of better quality also contains other vegetables, like carrots and spinach. This is a very simplistic explanation, there is a lot more in cat food, of course. The point is just that even animals that are primarily carnivorous can eat vegetables.

My brazilian aunt would even feed her dogs with only with rice and vegetables on fridays. She was a devout catholic. The dogs seemed to be fine with it. :P

1. She is called Scarlet Briar, not Blade. I don’t know what you mean with, she’s only a lieutenant. I don’t recall any rank ever given to her.
2. Dessa is from the past, we know that. She never heard of Sylvari and Lion’s Arch wasn’t as respected back then (spoiler for SoS: probably because Marriner stole Rata Sum’s money). The Grand High Sovereign is from the future. Dessa could still possibly be from the same timeline, but since she was already in the mist before the infinity ball is presumably invented, that doesn’t even matter. (also depends on when the timeline splits)

Nah, Joko powers and knowledge is not even close to Zhaitan. I think he don’t have a slightest idea how to control Risen.

Don’t underestimate Joko, I think he’s secretly Mumm-Ra!

On a more serious note, I’m not sure if Risen work like regular undead. Usually undead tend to flock around the strongest undead they can find, no matter if that undead is a necromancer or not. In that case Joko could gain control of them pretty easily, since he is easily one of the most powerful undead around and a necromancer too.
However, they are dragon minions first and undead second. They fanatically serve Zhaitan, that could possibly overwrite the normal undead behavior.

Found a Mindblown theory on youtube

in Clockwork Chaos

BuddhaKeks.4857

Funny because no its actually from a Reddit post, not konig, he just posted it as fast as he could later on the forums.

Or he did come up with the same theory, roughly at the same time. Unlike WP, Konig usually provides his sources if he has any. WP however mentioned that he got it from somewhere, but he didn’t specify. That said, if Konig really stole the research, then I just lost a lot of respect for him, but I highly doubt it.

I just want WP to tell his audience where he got his stuff from, so that those people stop being just a passive audience and come to forums or reddit or whatever to actually contribute. The few people who currently come to the forums, do it with their WP video links to tell us about the awesome lore they just found out about. If WP would give direct sources, they’d just come to the forums, read the thread and then continue it, instead of making new threads about basic stuff we already know.

Yeah because it’s impossible for two people to independently come up with the same idea. I myself was batting around this possibility before I read the forums or saw the YT video.

No it’s not impossible, but WP outright said that he had it from the somewhere, so why not give full credit, if you are already willing to admit that you just saw the theory somewhere.

It’s a lore video, made by a guy who likes making videos. They entertain many people, myself included. And do you know what? I don’t even care who came up with the theories, even if he did find a way to ascertain who really was the very first person to come up with a theory (which I imagine is far easier said than done in some cases).

His videos are concise snippets of lore and theorising. He always seems to make clear what is theory and what is in-game fact. Anyone who has spent any time on these forums knows that “The Great and Powerful Konig” is the self proclaimed god of lore anyway, so there’s a pretty decent bet who came up with the initial theory in the first place.

So please, get off your high horse… or correct all my grammar like forum-goers usually resort to. That’s the next logical step, right?

It’s not about finding out who came up with it first. Do you even know what crediting your sources means? If I write an essay about the romans, I might quote some english historian from the 19th century, who said something about the roman senate. Basically the same thing could have been said by Cicero, but I still give credit to the english historian for the quote. Why? Because I freaking quoted him, not Cicero!

The same applies to WP, it doesn’t matter if he read the theory on reddit or in the lore forums, as long as he gives us the name of the source. It’s not even extra work for WP, he doesn’t have to find out who said what first, he just has to tell us where he got his information from. I don’t why this is so hard, that’s the first thing you learn on any university.

And no, I’m not a Konig fanboy, he was just the most recent example of that typical WP behavior. In fact I’m as often in odds with Konig as I agree with him. But I respect him enough to give him credit when it’s due.

PS: I never correct anyone’s grammar. English isn’t my first language, so I think that would be hypocritical.

Is anyone petty enough to think their “crafted” game plot “theories” are worthy of some kind of ownership? Or that anyone should care?

The point should be “ooo! lets talk about that idea!” not"this is MY idea. recognize ME!"

I mean I know a lot of gamers like to measure kittens, but this is getting ridiculous.

If you use some elses research, it’s common to give them proper credit. In some cases not properly crediting your sources can make you loose your job. Don’t believe me? Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg, formerly germanies minister of defense. Not anymore. Why? Because he didn’t credit his sources in doctoral thesis. When a journalist found this out, he lost his doctor title and his job.

Now this is just a game, but giving credit where credit’s due, is just decent human behaviour.

And where gives he credit to Konig? If you read my post I said, he never gives credit to the people who came up with the theories. I haven’t said he pretends it’s his idea. But what he does is almost as bad, since his “fans” think they are his theories, for the simple reason that he never tells them the people who actually crafted them.

Sorry if someone else brought it up before, but doesn’t this whole Scarlet situation remind you guys of anything? I mean my fellow GW1 players here. There used to be an asuran golemancer whose name was Zinn, who helped the Shining Blade in the krytan civil war, but before that he was actually used to try to kill Salma and Emperor Kisu and Prince Bokka right with her.
Zinn was basically held hostage by a mysterious figure that ordered him to build powerful golems, which in turn would kill their respective targets. All human royality.
We never found out who the person was behind this attempted assassination, however some believe he was also involved with the White Mantle, as an equally mysterious person comanded some WM forces in the Maguuma Jungle.

This is suspiciously similar to what’s going on right now. Either Anet is kinda lazy and they recycle the story… or the two incidents are connected. Now I know, Scarlet seems to be a Sylvari, a species only 26 years old, so how could she possibly have something to do with events that happened about 250 years ago?
Well, time-travel. If the steam creatures can travel from the future into GW2’s time, that certainly means it’s possible to travel into GW1’s time too. Wouldn’t it be cool if we prevent Scarlet’s plot now and she travels back in time and tries to kill the human royals in GW1’s time, only to be stopped again by our old toons?

Besides that, there used to be a mysterious figure in GW1, that was behind a plot to kill all major human royal families in Tyria (world not continent). That person forced the asuran golemancer Zinn to build Golems that should kill Salma, Emperor Kisu and Prince Bokka.
We never found out who the figure was or what he would gain from killing all human royal families, but the whole Scarlet story is suspiciously similar to what happened back in the day.

and there you say it can only be done by power that is what history shows does humans have the power to go agienst the other 4 races if they said that they cant have it?

Yes, that is what I have been saying the entire time, in every single post, yet nobody seemed to understand what I am getting at. The humans are the only race in Tyria who have a law that qualifies them to claim Orr. That does not mean they have the power to force this claim on others, however a rightful claim does make it more likely that other races, that are neutral to the whole thing side with the humans.
The Sylvari for example strike me as uninterested in claiming Orr for themselves, but they would support the humans if they produce a heir to the throne of Orr, since they are really into fulfilling ones destiny. The Asura would probably support the humans in this case too, since it would open a whole new market for their gate network, while they don’t have to build all the infrastructure around it.
If the humans however would just go and say: “Humans used to live here, it’s ours, get out other races!”, I don’t think anybody would support them.

and thanks you just gave denmark, sweden and normay the right to claim england if they wanted to as they where there before the current monach where placed there and the royal bloodline of atleast denmark is still here that can be trased to the blooding haveing thoes areas;)

Before England goes to one of the scandinavian kingdoms, I think other european roylas have a more solid claim. The greek royals through Prince Philip maybe or the german ancestors of House Windsor, House Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

if anyone have a right to claim anything because of that then rome has the right to most of europe the danish/swedish/norwegen monach pretty much have claim on the rest( dont work that way).

Actually, it does work that way. Theoretically atleast. The western roman empire was desolved by Odoacer, who desposed the last emperor Romulus Augustulus in 476 A.D.. Odoacer conquered Italy, but he did not claim the title emperor for himself, instead he desolved the empire and crowned himself (have to do this, otherwise censorship) king of Italy.

That didn’t stop the east roman empire from trying to restore the west. They had the right to do that, just never the power to really do it. They came kinda close to it under Justinian the Great in around 550 A.D., but they didn’t conquer enough to establish themself in west so their holdings there quickly crumbled.

After that, the next person who tried to restore the roman empire was Charlemagne, who did with the help of Pope Leo III. He was crowned for protecting the catholic church (in other words, he saved the popes butt) in 800 A.D..
The title was over the time passed onto the german ottonian dynasty, then the salian and so on. While mostly based in germany, this was by the law of the empire, the official successor of the western roman empire. Even recognized by the eastern roman empire, through marriage!
The so called Holy Roman empire was desolved in 1806 A.D. by emperor Francis II. He did it to prevent Napoleon from claiming the throne and title, after he conquered most of germany.
The empire was again (!) restored in 1871, however this time as German Empire. Still, legaly it’s the same empire, even by different name. After WW1 the empire was desolved for the final time. However, anyone of the still existing ruling families could restore the empire, if they so desired. Naturally that wouldn’t happen, since too many strong political forces are opposed to that idea, but technically it’s possible.

Not to mention unleashing a Lich from his eternal prison to run amok in Elona. Also isn’t Vael a Centaur from Elona? Why would there be anything about him this far north? Yes there were refugees from Elona but How I saw it there would be no peace between Centaur and Human until either race lay dead before the other’s feet.

Vael is most definitively not centaur. You are probably thinking of Zhed

Not sure what your point is. I’m not fanwanking for charr rights, here. i’m pointing out the clear double standard of the logic that hinges it’s argument on “human rights” to land.

Just for the record, I’m neutral about all this Charr vs human thing. I was just using this as an example on how ownership of an kingdom works by human law.

It wasd their land? Theirs. That’s that simple. Nothing to do with laws.

I don’t think other races will react as “omg omg new soil that used to be a holy human lend for more tha a thousand years and is totally out of our reach while humans are just claiming the land back LET’S SETTLE THERE”

Yes guys we can argue about basically everything, mostly about what is rightful and what is not. But if everyone start to use their brains without just arguing for the sake of arguing everyone knows who has the right to claim Orr.

Humans decided not to attempt to take back Ascalon. I don’t think they would let charrs or others take this land too.

Yes it has to do with laws, if you know anything about medieval politics. You couldn’t just go around and claim lands to be yours, just because some people lived their once, that belong to your culture. If you go by that, you will not have success, then you might as well just try to conquer it by force.
If you however have proof that those people who used to live there are your ancestors and your are their heir, you have a much higher chance to get the land. Will the current owner just hand it over to you? Depends on how powerful he is, but with a rightful claim you have a much higher chance of getting back-up from people who uphold the law.
In other words, claiming something without reason, makes you look like an aggressor, claiming something with a valid reason brings you way more sympathy.

Not exactly true, either. The example used is horrible because Ascalon isn’t a Human Kingdom. Ascalon was originally a Charr kingdom and the Charr took it back from the human interlopers who squatted in it for a few generations. Now, whether you agree with either their logic, leadership or tactics is immaterial, Ascalon is, once again, back in the paws of it’s rightful owners. Wade has no claim to it. He’s the last upstart lord in the long line of upstart lords who brought war and destruction to the land, and has wisely decided that fighting over it isn’t in anyone’s best interest.

You don’t seem to get what I am talking about. The humans have a law that states that the heir of a monarch, will be the next king/queen. Even if the land is occupied by foes, the law still makes this person, the rightful ruler of the kingdom.
If the Charr had a similar law it would hold merit for Ascalon, but they don’t. When the Khan-Ur died all of his 4 sons claimed the right to rule the Charr, because the Khan did not make clear who his first heir is and it what order the throne passes down.
It doesn’t matter that the Charr once ruled over Ascalon since they have no law that says “This person is the rightful king of this land”.
They however have the military power to just conquer it back and so they did. And the humans don’t have the power to force their law on the Charr. So they don’t do that, but that doesn’t mean it does not exist.

none have a right to claim it in any way.
my gess is that it will become something like LA or be a area where all races has part of the control as orr ismply is to importent to give away.

Wrong. By human law, if a relative of the last king of Orr is found, this person would have the right to restore the kingdom of Orr. Just like Wade Samuelsson has the right to restore the kingdom of Ascalon, he just chose to not do that, so he wouldn’t risk the treaty with the Charr.

the humans will only have the right to claim it IF the other races give them that right else they have nothing what so ever so it all comes down to what the united front whats and nothing of what humans want

Again wrong. The humans have the right by their law. If the other races give a kitten about this law is not important, but they better do out of respect. All I am saying is that the humans have a solid reason to claim Orr and they can back it up. No other race has such a solid claim by their own law.
Of course other races can speak against the humans restoring the kingdom of Orr, but from a judicial standpoint they have nothing to be pitted against the humans, if they manage to get hold of a rightfull heir.

and humans abandon it or threw it out so they lost the right to reclaim it.

so none have the right the reclaim it but i gess if one of the races truely needs the space the would get it but given how it is right now i dont think anyone want it and the only race that looks like they might need it in the future would be sylvari if they can get a new tree to grow there.

They abandoned it? When? The whole peninsula blew up. Sure it was by a human mage, but that doesn’t mean all the Orrians wanted their home to sink. No they didn’t abandon it, it was destroyed, killing almost all of the inhabitants (and invaders) with it.

Technically the kingdom of Orr, however was never dissolved, so any descendant of Reza or Doric could claim the throne. By human laws it would be rightful. The question is, would the other races accept that?
And why wouldn’t they? The humans are allies to all of them, stronger humans, means stronger allies against the dragon threat. The Charr might be “not cool” with it, but they can’t really speak against it openly, since it could also endanger the peace treaty over Ascalon. Besides, if the humans get Orr back they might “forget” about Ascalon, atleast that is what the Charr officials could tell their general public. Of course no human of ascalonian heritage would forget their homeland, but atleast their lobby in the human kingdom could get weaker.
The Asura only get more room for their gate network, the Sylvari get land to grow some stuff on or whatever their goal as a race might be, besides being vegetables and the Norn, well they don’t decide anything as a race anyway. Some might be against it, for whatever reason, but the general public will either support it or even more likely, don’t care.

Well it was a human kingdom before it sunk, so I guess as long as you find someone who is distantly related to King Reza, you could restore the kingdom of Orr. The Charr certainly don’t hold any right over the land, since they never conquered it and they had enough trouble with Ascalon, I highly doubt they would go through that all over again.

The Sylvari also hold no claim over it. They did nothing more to reclaim it than any other race and they have no history there. Same goes for Asura and Norn, before anyone asks.

Unimportant NPC in the long term of gw lore many chars from gw1 are more deserving

Devona, Cynn, Mhenlo, Aiden and Eve for example

Vael is cooler than every single one of them. To be honest, many NPCs are cooler than anyone of those fools, except Aidan. He’s a total bro.

What I agree though, we need references to the GW1 PC. Nothing, we’ve got nothing. Not even the HoM resembles in any way the HoM that I left. Is it so hard to atleast display the tapestries?
But no, as we all know since Ghosts of Ascalon, Gwen is the greatest hero of humanity. Yes, because all she did was whining about the Charr, Kieran and how she had no childhood. That’s a much greater deed that killing a fallen god or ending a civil war…

Then I guess I’m the first.

“It’s been a whole year, let’s see what I got! Oh… another Destroyer mini. Where’s my Gwen?”

>>wait for a full year for a chance at something I might not have

Sure there’s the anticipation that you might get something really good… then there’s the horrible disappointment from getting the same trash you got last year.

I think the one thing I agree with was that the older you got (the more years you’ve been playing Guild Wars), the better your potential present was. If each birthday in GW2 meant every 1-year character got Jenna, every 2-year character got… let’s say Marjory… I’d be perfectly okay with that.

And what do you do with so many Jennahs? I mean in GW1, I had I think 8 character slots, all filled and I only got the same mini on two different characters once. Well not very lucky but all the other ones were different. I wasn’t even very lucky when it came to the tier, in 6 years, with 8 characters I only got a gold one once. It was mini Rurik, I’m no fan of that guy, but I was still happy. Why? Because every mini was something special.
Now we know exactly, that everyone will have Jennah. You will have 2 days with nothing but Jennahs on the street and then they will vanish forever into the storage. Yupidoo…

Opens a present from someone: a book. Oh thank you.
Second present same person, oh, same book. Ok thanks.
3rd present same person. Same book. Ummmm
4th present, suspicious book like shape, ummmm. Thanks?
5th present, 6th present, 7th present, 8th present………
Well gosh. Thank you.

If the title of the book is “Hygiene for Dummies”, they might want to tell you something. Just kidding! :P

At topic: half of the fun of getting a present is not knowing what it is. Now we know it’s Jennah (that annoying hack). And we’ll all get the same thing. Where is the fun in that?

And lordkrall, for the record, I never met a single GW1 player who disliked the present system we had. Not a single one. Not sure where you’ve got that from that people disliked the system.

I don’t recall such a line in the English version so it’s likely just a translation error, given I cannot see how one may be able to save an extinct species.

I played the german version and I can’t recall this line either. However I only played it 2 times, with a rather nervous group, so there wasn’t much time to look around and pay attention to everything.
