I guess anet do not expect anyone to actually play the game for 3 years with pretty much nothing to do so their target demographic is new players not the vets ;p

I am really shocked at the amount of money that players are spending and have spent on this game. I had no idea people spent that much. It is my hope that finally they will hear when it dries up because of poor decision making and lack of communication.
I’m with you with the love for Anet and “our” game. Do you really think this was a good move for their business? Just look at all the rage, not only here but in countless other fan-forums too. They won’t make money that way, they will lose customers.
I think the change itself is rather good, but they need to fix the amounts and potentially also add the ability to add custom numbers. But the thinking behind the change as such is good in my eyes.
The thing about this situation is that it will rage like mad for a couple of days and then it will blow over, just like all the other times.

I have read every post in this whole thread and so far haven’t seen any real defense of this decision Even the white knights don’t like it. The new (player) trend of flipping the player base off every patch is disturbing and unnerving.
She’s the public face of what looks like an attempt to swindle folks out of cash. Not an enviable position.

I agree it is just astounding to me, in one hand the potential, the beautiful and fun to play game and in the other hand the absolute kitten you attitude of the devs of it towards their playerbase. Oh and please infract me for typing kitten again. Kittens.
The damage is already done, even if they revert it back. They artificially inflated gem prices the moment the patch released, and ripped the price graph out of the game UI and disabled the gem price function call on the API to hide it. That’s why if you go to GW2spidy the gem price graph hasn’t updated since the patch but everything else has.
Don’t even think for a second that this change was done to accommodate a certain type of player. Gem prices don’t naturally spike 22% in the span of ten minutes, not even on a patch day. That has never happened in the history of GW2, even on the anniversary.
Just bumping this to make sure it gets seen.
Everyone should boycott and avoid the gem store altogether. If we can all avoid it like a disease without a cure, we might succeed in Anet coming out with a cure. It’s sick right now and only good for ripping off the new players. Older players know better and preferred the much better experience with more freedom of choice.
Doing that one better and boycotting Guild Wars 1 & 2 completely from my hard drive until I see a SIGNIFICANT change in the way things are handled and some NEW content I am interested in. This kitten leaves such a bad taste in my mouth it may not ever happen though.

9 years anet. 9 years between gw1 gw2 thats how long i have been playing. 4 accounts (all expansions) and 40 slots in gw1, 9 slots in one account in gw2. in all that time all that money i spent i have never been more upset over anything you guys pulled the this.
I really don’t know what you all where thinking (by this i mean the team), you have no clue as to what your player base is doing, everyone in my guild (40-45 players) are so kittened off that they all refuse to buy gems anymore with or with our gold.
I am sure that we are not the only ones, just lost respect from supporters of you company. use you heads and hearts not the company profit margin if you want your bottom line to be any good.

This. Almost identical play time and I bought 2 copies of several. Hope you guys enjoyed the vacations I helped pay for! Unbelievable the way you do your longtime veteran fans and biggest supporters. This is the first time in 9 years there is no GW game installed on my PC. Really shocked and underwhelmed. Nice job on killing the game death by a thousands cuts style.

Details for people that aren’t able to play right now please.
The EU players get the patch at the same exact moment that the NA players get it, it launches across both regions at the exact same moment in time.
So although calendar-wise the EU players may feel like they are getting it later, they also get to play it longer calendar-wise since the next patch will launch across both regions at the same moment in time.

I have witnessed this gather people up from the map, get them organized, then take most of the people and leave the map and leave groups of people behind, standing there like what just happened… I know there are taxi’s and ip commands and party join functions, but not all players know about these things. Leaving them hanging expecting something big to happen and then just leaving is wrong.
I’d like dwarves more than anything. Of course, they’re turned to stone and the kitten pull would be of epic proportions to bring them back as a playable race, so I’ll concede that my wishes won’t come true.
If I can’t have dwarves though, maybe mursaat or kodan some day. I still expect Tengu to be first of the list but at least I can hold dreams while still maintaining a firm grip on reality.
Being a Mursaat would be pretty sweet. Kodan not so much what are you going to do philosophize the bad guys to death?

I loved the Deep and Urgoz Warren from GW1. Would love to see some type of harder content for more than 5 player parties such as this.
Reformat your pc, reinstall GW2 and I guarantee most (if not all) of your issues will be solved, using a mash up of OS files can’t be good for running any app or game.
At any chat prompt you can type the command /wiki and follow it up with anything in the game and it will automatically open a browser to the information you want to know about. This game is not difficult to figure out.
At the very least I would like to see underwater used more often and in more creative ways. Imagine a portion of a dungeon, where you are in a cave and it gets darker and darker and then there is a mysterious pool of water in front of the party, that is the only way to go , the only way to advance. I love the underwater fractals.

1 laurel for completing a map would be a nice reward. Completely against the buying completion with laurels though.
Would look cool to blast with both pistols. I am not talking anything game breaking or changing up skills here, just looks wise it would make more sense.
The LAST thing this game needs is for rewards to be removed.
I would however like to see the story changed to where it didn’t need situations like this to be completed or where fail farms aren’t possible.

I agree with everything you’ve said but especially the show which dungeons paths you’ve done/haven’t done thing. I have wished for something like that since I first got the game.
If there is’nt a proper expansion by mid next year I’d say I will be done with the game. The LS is a massive fail for me in this regard. I’m ravenous for some substantial new content. New classes, skills, weapons, races, areas, etc on an expansion level, not this drip-fed nonsense with a back piece reward on the side.
I still play the game, but nowhere near as often and ^^^^^^^ is why. I hold out some hope still though, not giving up yet.

We haven’t been to the desert yet, but I hope we do get to go. Surely there are epic quests and scenery that is being worked on to bring this epic part of GW back.
I am not in any of the above guilds but it makes me sad to read these things.

Good idea. But will we be able to see them if we are playing in the lowest setting? Right now when I am enjoying wvw/pvp when I res people or seeing others do it it looks like we are spanking the dead person……….(this is what happens when you play in “best performace”).

From a GW1&2 vet: I read all the fuss about the patch and was kinda concerned. After playing it, I really like most of the changes, with the exception of the heart changes. Now what I would like to see is a spectacular finish to the LS2 and new places to explore. Doesn’t have to be Cantha or Elona but I would love to see them.
I love this thread, like minded people here. I would like to see a underwater cave with the darkness effect like in the mine in Dry Top. A creepy dark area, maybe like Orr. Most people don’t seem to like underwater areas/combat sadly.
I agree with everything you’ve said except “not new zones” … why not???
Of course we can have new zones, but i know that new zones are coming, so i don’t feel the need to ask for that. :P
