Interesting. A “new class” thread pops up, and a gameplay programmer responds with how he’d play it. Combine this with the PAX announcement speculation, and what do you get?
Players wildly speculating, some players taking other players speculation as fact, then complaining when the speculation doesn’t happen?
Or they make Quaggan a playable race. CooooOOOoooo!
Ugh, no.
So very very very very much THIS.
Firstly let’s see the new profession happen. So far it’s lotsa theories, little proof to back that suspicion up.
Exactly. OP’s posts tend to blur the line between reality and not reality at times. Can’t have people expecting something that may not happen, or may not happen in this time frame or whatever.
Didn’t say it will, but if we do get a new classes in the future, it would be a decision people will have to make. I don’t like race changing once I make a character. I rarely customize characters post creation in any MMO besides gear and gameplay mechanics.
So it made me think about what I would play for a new class in GW2.
I have two charrs already. Tired of them. Yeah they have their moments, but Norn grew on me. I didn’t like them at first in beta. My first character in beta was a Norn Guardian. It turned me off so much I went human for my guardian.
I understand where you are coming from, but some forumites take a post or thread title and then start the whole expecting thing. Then when it doesn’t happen (or won’t yet… we never know) there is a poopstorm.
Having said all that I don’t know which race I would try, so far I am not very fond of Charr and Norn, they seem big and bulky and plodding to me. Sylvari ehh ok, Asura thief was fun and seemed to feel the opposite of the Charr and Norn, almost speedy really. My main and main alts are all human, with a nod to GW1 for that.
As far as a new race I have no idea what race that could be brought in, I like the idea of playable Margonites or Mursaat but they don’t seem likely.
Taking it upon onesself in a “shame Anet kind of way” is not the answer. All one needs to do is look at signatures and posts to see an antagonistic type of approach to things.
but CMM, you don’t have a signature.
I don’t have really have anything to say in a signature at this point, if I do I will put one up.

Um, what I said was actually tongue in cheek stuff.
Ok, good! There is only so much cutesy one game can take lol
No, I want to have just a permanent speed boost on an animal – it’s very comfortable, especially in parts of the world without any waypoints or permanent contested waypoints.
I think the point why people are so much against mounts isn’t the typical lackluster arguments against it (WPs, signets, passive speed boosts, cluttering of screen etc.) it’s just be cause people are so kittening afraid of the WoWization of this game. So ridiculous, really. And they simply won’t admit it.
It’s not ______ fear, its more like repulsion and distancing ones self. Something the wow refugees can’t seem to understand.
Mount should be 100% speed (double normal warlking speed), so we don’t need to rely on a kitten skill slot all the time. Also, not every class has a signet and some are a bit annoying to keep up.
That is part of the game! Choose your build, skills, runes, and sigils wisely.
Flying mounts please! So I can do all those tricky vista’s really easily and actually finish a JP. Thanks for listening.
NO

but if they do I want a random rainbow unicorn.
NO
these 2 replies should be reason enough for closing the thread lol

Well my go to races are usually Norn, Charr, followed by Human.
If we get some Shadow Knight Class as the Rytlock spoiler photos indicate then it might be a Charr then since I imagine Rytlocks Shadow Knight armor wouldn’t clip.
??? as the Rytlock spoilers indicate? Looks like a Ritualist blindfold to me… the shadow knight thing is so cliche and played out I highly doubt this is the case.
No, I sure don’t miss that.
Sure Anet has done some unique things like the art style, combat, WvW (kinda), but I wouldn’t call a lack of content or the direction Anet has taken as “different” or that “outside of the box.”
No mounts, no dueling and the other wow stuff you want to try to alter the game with, are part of the reasons I play GW2 and do not play those other games. I like GW2 because it is different and their direction is not like other games, and doesn’t want or need to rely on content in other games. What you see as lacking I see as refreshing and continuance of precedence set in GW1 not having these types of content. That historical precedence and wanting/liking the differences between GW2 and other mmo’s are the reasons you get the dead horse pictures, merged threads, and the replies that are given in the multiple threads, generally with the same posters and the same circular arguments.
I like being able to share nodes, and to casually wander around without glitter ponies, blocking my view of objects, bosses, whatever the case may be. Or duel requests/chat harassment, or superiority complex/elitist players being hostile/aggressive towards me, my friends, or guild mates. Thanks but no thanks, there are other mmos with that content, I’ll take the one that wants to be different.
I love how they call the things legendary, give them effects that belong in visually loud animes and people practically kill themselves trying to get the things.
The illusion of prestige, man. Gets the suckers every time, right square in the wallet and wasted time.
They’ve got you folks pegged. Why should they change anything when many here will complain, but keep throwing cash at gems for gold anyway, or keep throwing loot into the mystic toilet, hoping that today might be their fifteen seconds of ‘glory’.
They haven’t ‘fixed it’ on all these years because our isn’t broken for what they clearly want it to be accomplishing.
Don’t look at what they say or what you think they said – look at what they do, or in this case, don’t do.
Story tells itself. Not much else to be said about it, is there?
Hahaha internet high five. This is exactly how I feel about legendaries. I will never have one unless somehow the Predator mysteriously falls into my inventory.
As a forager, I like the price of chili peppers, and it one of my “nice drops” I think it is fine how it is. I do miss getting unidentified dyes with plants, I loved that, it would be nice to see something more substantial than a dandelion.
I really wish the community would stop using that term to describe it. It’s one of those things that gets annoying, and is inappropriate..
IDK I think it is pretty accurate and fitting.
I’m told what and where. Being able to play as you want where you want and get rewarded is better than being told where to play to get rewarded.
Unfortunately the development team has disagreed with this sentiment for a very long time. Going back as far as requiring WvW mapping as part of the 100% map completion so you can earn an ingredient to make a weapon with zero effectiveness in WvW and as recently as requiring many of us who despise running fractals to run them if we wanted Mawdry this game has had an ongoing righteousness about telling players they cannot play where and when they want.
If you want the reward you do what it takes to get that reward. I missed the window that said nope you can’t play here, or here…

Engi is my main and I go rifle/grenades/bombs. I find bombs can be really effective, but I prefer more of a ranged attacking style. I enjoy the extra range of grenades with the grenadier trait, fun to rain death from above when standing on a wall or etc.
And how are we supposed to save them? Can someone make a thread where people can put old posts for future reference? Or are we supposed to copy the posts we want and put them in a file somewhere?
Save as .pdf is one option.

Rewards consistent with what I did to get them. Especially pvp and wvw exp.
Encouraged not forced me to give pvp a shot again, and to visit wvw more often.
Ability to pass exp to alts.
More laurels, which I wanted more of badly.
Most days they are quite simple to accomplish.
Dislikes
The zerg mobbing events before being able to get there. The negative reactions caused by this are not a good thing, and need to be looked at, which I am sure they will.
God realms. What happened to UW/FoW? And finally add the others while they are at it.
The portal that Rytlock jumped into looked UW-ish to me, wonder if anyone else thought that?
Noooooooooooooo
I’d love to have the items that were added in by me including minis, armors, and weapons… everything. Originally I thought that was how it was going to work.
I would like to be able to transmute from one color to another. Got plenty of red and yellow, need some blue. Funny I have the Star of Gratitude and nothing to feed to it!
I like this idea. Right click “stay put”
Point of No Return.
So essentially, if we leave GW2 after this patch, we will not be able to return?
-Any account that has not been logged in for the past 60days gets banned.
-Any character that has not been played in 30days gets deleted.
-Any character that has not been played in 15days gets their level halved.
-Any character that has not been played in 7days lose all of their skill points.
-Any character that has not been played in 24hours loses all 13 traits of a line chosen by RNG.
-Any character that has not stored anything in a specific bank tab in 24hours gets that bank tab deleted and loses everything in it.
-Any character that has not used a specific skill in 24hours has to relearn that skill.
-Any character that has not used a specific waypoint in 24hours has to pay double the cost for each 24hours they have not used that waypoint.
-Any character that has broken armor now loses that piece of armor permanently.
-Any character that has not swung a sword again cannot enter PvP.
-Finally, Any character that dies becomes the closest person’s mini, and is forced to follow and watch that person play while doing nothing, until someone else dies and takes their place.
The time taken to think of, then type all of this in, was not time well spent.
First, let me say I am mostly not in favor of the traits changes, and as a player with several alts it is painful.
However, it is not THAT big of a deal to buy a few traits to have a useable build. You don’t HAVE to have every trait that’s available right this second. That is a want, not a need.
I like the idea of capturing traits (skills) by doing x,y,z like in GW1, but clearly the system needs refinement.
If I’m forced into options that are not fun for me, I’ll simply move on to another game.
No one is forcing you to do anything.
I like the idea of non-killing activities. I have really enjoyed different scavenger hunts lately and different lore bits to just explore and look around (Hidden Arcana). Fishing is something I could get into, not so sure about the farming, but not against it either.
Just to say I posted in a cat butt thread.
O% interest, adding something in just because other games have it is not valid with me whatsoever.
As long as they’re not FACTIONS missions. All the achievements would be “Do x in y amount of time”.
This. Loved Cantha/Factions, hated the time gated/based missions.

hahah this almost never happens :P
Wintersday Gift have a high chance to give other sorts of wintersday gifts
…Which give other Wintersday gifts, which give others! haha
So not quite to the Hall of Ascension (this comment, btw, was the first time we got a name for the Hall of Ascension), but the three locations in the Crystal Desert tied to the Hall of Ascension.
Which calls into question: Why are they in the Silverwastes?
Interesting.

Top 5 things Anet got wrong
5) Stacking in general, but mostly in WvW. I believe this would benefit to a better tactical WvW if the current system was not in place, and an emphasis more on healing, not to the trinity extent of course.
4) Lack of communication, soon™
3) WvW, the lack of emphasis and focus in this unique content.
2) Esport, clogs up the rest of the game in terms of new abilities, traits, builds, balance, new weapon skills, and takes focus away from WvW.
1) Living Story, frustrating, buggy, and forgettable, but nice to look at.
I agree with all you have said except for 1, Living Story. While it may not have been perfect, I enjoyed it a lot and my only real issue with it would be not enough and too infrequent.
Companies that are about to close their game usually lay off people and stop making more content.
That’s probably why the rumors exist.
Except they aren’t laying anyone off and still putting out content????
I have nothing against selling a run, as long as what is promised is delivered. It is part of Guild Wars history to have runners that take you to new towns/outposts, or run you through a dungeon.
I would prefer a merging tool myself where if you combine two of the same type of gear with different stats, you get one piece where you can select between those merged stats at will. Merge two of those together and you get 4 sets of stats you can select at will.
That way you won’t lose all the effort you put into making a piece of ascended gear and it makes crafting more useful.
Or put them in the Forge and do that!
Welcome! Nope, it is not too late to start.
Where do you get the “Big new content update” from?
The new dailies are welcomed by me.
I do however wish the Writ of Experience drops could lessen, maybe mix it up with some Karma drops in the chest instead? Not so fast, I like the writs to pass to my alts.
If I could, I would dump all of mine on you.
I would do this freely, heck I’d probably toss in some bloodstone dust just to clear out the bank space.
I wish I could take the writs off your hands, the dust you can keep! heh

I want a better method of getting rid of this stuff. I don’t craft and I don’t want to spend money on materials to craft Mawdrey II especially with its rather limited utility (3-6 stacks of 50 a day! wtf?). The Star of Gratitude is on par but requires the Jumping Puzzle game mode which I do not do.
My point is this: stop tying QoL enhancements to specific game modes.
For frackin’ sakes, let me put four stacks of this crap in the Mystic Toilet for RNG rewards.
Random Boosters, with a celebration booster being the best.
My old minis from Guild Wars 1. In particular:
The mini black Moa chick.
The mini Celestial Dragon (with its animations intact)
This. I have fond memories of roaming around in the world of Factions in Cantha, in the Kurzick area doing the scavenger hunt to craft the mini moa. Good times. FFF runs. Double point weekends. The mini Celestial and Kuunavang would be high on my want list too.
trading garbage that has no use, for garbage you can sell, more bag space – priceless
Anet listened to their players request for something to do with some ascended crafting materials by making a cool scavenger hunt and item.
Inevitably there were going to be complaints though… Clearly there are those who are unable to do otherwise.
you read my post as a complaint? It was not.
Fair enough. I am glad they made it and hope there is one for Dragonite also.
