No, most players aren’t like that. A lot are just disappointed because from the vet point of view Anet hasn’t been taking care of them very well lately, and this latest incident just brings all that frustration to a head. In their heart of hearts Anet KNEW that not having an upgrade only version and including a characters slot would create an uproar! That kinda makes me think it was intentional, was it though? I don’t know.

I think the big issue at hand is that simply put, the content in HoT to our knowledge thus far isn’t worth the $50.00.
THIS.
Really, nothing else needs to be said.
From what we have been told in the past six months, we content of Heart of Thorns is so minimal that our guesses at its size is not worth $50. If ArenaNet wants to calm folks down, the best way to do such is to give us a ballpark figure of how much content we are paying for.
We paid $60 pre-purchase for 80 levels, 5 races, 8 professions, 15+ storylines, 2+ dungeons, 5 regions which included 11+ maps and ‘all open betas’. That is the core game that we knew when the pre-purchase showed up.
We are paying $50 for 0 levels, 0 races, 1 profession, 9 sets of new skills (guessed 54-69 skills) 1 storyline, 0 dungeon, 1 region which includes 1 maps, and ‘all open betas’. That is HoT pre-purchase and what we know.
Price is basically the same, content is not.

All of this rage would be so much less if they would’ve just included a character slot. WHY ANET DO YOU KEEP SHOOTING YOURSELF IN THE FOOT? WHY?
Even then, I don’t bloody want a character slot, I have no use for one, I already have eight, and if they give me another if anything I’ll want a refund for one of the ones I already have. What I want is to buy the expansion and the expansion alone, without getting less for my money as compared to a new player.
I would be fine with being able to buy the expansion only, for a reasonable price, since I am going to have to shell out the $10 anyways for a slot to play the new profession. Sorry but it just doesn’t make sense. That’s why the whole first page of the forum is about this issue.

I just hope there’s an expansion price for people who already OWN the game, why they had a popup in-game for players who already have the game is beyond me, that one should have shown the expansion price (without the price for the full game since I already own it). This is just an expansion, like Eye of the North, EoTN didn’t include the base game, Factions did but it also had 2 character slots and 2 new professions. HoT is not that type of expansion, it’s a simple content expansion that simply adds the areas and a lot of features we had in gw1 maguuma area… I would have prepurchased at $30 but at $50 I’d rather get a full game and wait on HoT until it was on sale.
At this price I’ll be getting Fallout4 instead of an expansion.
$49.99 is the Price of just the Expansion. The Core Game is an extra bonus for new players and they get it for free. This was already verified by Anets Twitter.
It’s $50 for the game+expansion, or just the expansion of you paid for the game, no matter how you try to spin it. Basically, you get less for more if you’re a loyal customer. It’s a ripoff based on that alone.
So comparing veterans to newcomers, veterans paid $50 3 years earlier than new comers and thus had access to 3 years of gameplay that the newcomers missed out on. You paid $50 at launch for the base game and had access ever since. You will even have a leg up on them forever for anniversary stuff. What else do you want?
Minimum? A character slot to try the new profession.

Or to completely turn them on/off like in GW1
Similar issue here with Sylvari, should be 6/6 but it is at 5/6. I made a bug report, for what it’s worth.
This thread is tangible proof of a need for a -1 button. No way in heck should this ever be implemented.
It will happen, mark my words!
Doubt it.
Maybe they could have daily carebear too.
Don’t listen to the trolls there are a lot of people playing still. There is bit of a lull right now until the expansion comes out, still see a lot of people every day and the community is far from dead. I myself am not playing as much because The Witcher 3.
Put an invisible bag in your last bag slot to keep things out of the merchant window and from being compacted. Different bags have different effect read the description.
Guess the witcher is calling my name…
As it should, it’s a pretty sweet game!
No. Nein. Nyet.
I would love to get Unidentified dyes from foraging once again, please consider adding this back! Thanks for your time reading this.
Well, this topic goes around in circles a bit, so here is some FAQ (or rather a Frequently Posted Interjections).
- Anet needs to focus on HoT content!
No content design is needed, they can just bring back what they already made.- If they bring back just Worlds 1 and 2, it won’t be enough and people will just complain about world 3 not being released yet.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slippery_slope- It was too hard and just annoyed players
Tribulation mode was pretty kitten hard, but Infantile Mode just involved running along the rainbow cloud motorway. Normal mode was somewhere in-between.- World 2 was broken so they can’t bring it back!
World 2 launched with a bunch of bugs which were mostly fixed. Additionally the difficult parts on normal mode (the Geysers in 2-1 and the gong room in 2-2) were both nerfed heavily.- SAB sucks! Don’t bring it back.
The return of SAB would not inconvenience you in any way, but be great for the people who enjoy it.- It doesn’t fit the living story!
Haha!So as someone who just +1ed you, what does that actually do?
It places a thumbs up graphic on the side by the +1, and goes into post history as a rated thread.
I never got to play SAB, maybe I would like to, but the way people act is embarrassing, so I kinda like the idea of them getting trolled.
The problem is there is no reason for Anet not to add SAB as permanent content. World 1 and 2 are there. They are fun and I would love to play it with my friends.
It was explained in another thread that changes/patches to the game have changed the way it works (broke it) , as far as movement and combat, but I don’t remember the thread. I’d like to play it too, but I am not going to freak out about it and act childish.
Do you think other people have been acting childish about it?
Absolutely I do.

I’d have awesome adventures to look forward to with the great friends I have made in my guild!
Focusing on the “fastest way to level” is the best way to ruin the game for yourself.
Fast leveling means we get through the crappy NPE quickly which actually ruins the game experience for most of us…
I do not agree with your assessment here, and reject your usage of “us”
With all due respect this thread should be closed.
Had fun running around on patch day and talking on mumble about it chaotic as it was. I wish you well wherever life takes you.
100% disagree. Message Body length must at least be 15.
There are many threads discussing this on the forum, and I bet if you polled everyone they would be in favor of UI customization. I would love to see this and build templates happen!
bumping this back to page 1
Personally, i think whispers has the best story.
There, that was all you needed to say.
Exactly, what was the point of the nonconstructive bashing?
Personally, I like the in their face approach style of the Vigil.
I had the opportunity of running through the last part of the LSS2 with one of the devs and to give feedback and to listen to his thoughts about it. It was a great experience and I could tell from just talking that they do care about their game and its players and listen to them, and value their thoughts.
It made me appreciate a game I already love even more.
I will always thanks Anet to not have implemented this kind of thing in GW2.
I agree, the arrogance already displayed in this thread should be a big red flag against it ever being done.
Items that are gotten through gameplay and earning them as opposed to just farming some gold and buying them have been asked for and are welcomed, and I hope that doesn’t change.
Making them buyable for 10 gold and 1000 bandit crests (which they already are after you’ve gotten them once) means you can still get them via gameplay, just in the Silverwastes instead. Which would probably be more rewarding/fun than playing through already completed instances for one achievement, which depending on the achievement/instance, range from tedium to flat out frustration and/or just luck (Togonn Windmane from No Refuge….ugh.)
Again, I played through all the achievements already to get them. Twice. It wasn’t fun. I’d rather not force that on other players if all they want are the ascended trinkets and don’t care about the Luminescent gear.
I don’t have an issue with the trinkets being buyable through the SW vendors, after mastery is completed for it. My thoughts are this: not every item in the game should be handed out on a silver platter. I like being able to show off something I got as a reward for doing something difficult and completing it.
By doing those tedious, garbage achievements, I take it? I should point out that I did all that already. I still feel there should be an alternative for those that don’t want to suffer all that and just want those pieces.

One mans garbage is another mans treasure? IDK but I hope it doesn’t change and more items gained ONLY through game play and achievements are added.
I agree with the topic title. And no, I couldn’t care less about the Luminescent set. They should just have another way to get those ascended pieces.
No, there should not be another way. They should be earned by doing.
Still do not want. There are other threads about this topic.
+1 for hand health love
So yesterday it was port to commander, and today it is chat time with the enemy… please stop trying to ruin wvw…
To be clear I think the COE event and entrance should be tweaked though.
I like having quests to open dungeons and event chains. Generally I am against anything that appeases the lazy and those unwilling to work for the nice and/or hard to get items.
This would be an extremely broken mechanic.
Anything that makes WvW easier to go into. Group based pvp with no way to rejoin your group is a major gigantic pain in the kitten . There is many times when I join an edge of the mists see the commander on the other side of the map and decide it’s not worth trying to get there. Leave and try again in 5 to 10 mins.
There needs to be some kind of way to get around the map. A teleport stone on key places, something. Anything so that when I join I can get to where the group is in some reasonable amount of time.
commander mesmer hides in tower, pop up tag, easy cap w/o waste teleport….. GW2 is way to easy compared with other mmo that have siege/war component (this is the gw2 player want everything to be cheesy and easy).
No, not all of us want everything to be cheesy and easy, and those that do not want that should be more vocal around here.
The problem is there would be Norn warriors with 6 ft long and 4 ft wide greatswords blocking everything from view.
Do not want. /15
Completely agree and would love to see any and all improvements such as this.
I see people all the time, pretty much every where I go, so don’t know really where you are coming from OP as I don’t see what you are.
I use the ones I get as drops, haven’t and won’t buy one.
-snip-
I think putting this in the control of the players is a terrible idea.
While I don’t think there is any news, I am pretty sure everyone would love to see this sometime soon. Surely it has been taken note of and the trifecta will be complete one day.
If you haven’t gotten a vacation then you haven’t really spoken your mind. If you have seen “Goodfellas” think of when Henry gets arrested and goes to court for the first time.
