While I like the general idea, I would have to vote no. Wouldn’t it allow one to scout ahead, find the best route through an area, and then tackle it? Thus reducing the thrill and risk of exploration?
Perhaps it could only be offered to 100% map complete characters, which I realize isn’t what the OP is after. Therefore, nothing new to discover, and presumably they’ve already been there, done that, so this would give them a chance to go back and enjoy the scenery free from hassle. As previously posted, they would return to where they started once they exit “ghost mode.”
Yeah the scouting situation could open up a can of worms, maybe it could work with the restriction of having 100% map completed a zone, then you can “ghost”
Certainly hasn’t been my experience. Been playing a lot the past few days off from work, and I haven’t experienced a d/c or a freeze. Maybe some details and trying to solve the problem rather than what we have here would help?
+1 to the idea, I am going to refer to it as ghost mode.
Some lower gem or gem store prices would be nice for sure.
The problem with the upgrade extractor could be solved by adding a couple/few more uses, I think everyone would be ok with that, the one time use really makes it a terrible deal.

This is one of the most beautiful games I have ever seen, this has to be a troll thread.
I think people trying to ruin the game for others need to take a break. The person that wants to make people suffer remark is regarding the “Fix PVE parking” thread, which was closed, possibly deleted by now, in which the OP admits he wants to take things away from others because his precious crafting nodes in WvW were taken away, maybe if you did some reading yourself you would have understood that.
I jokingly asked if he/you/whoever was related to or buddies with that person, because it is the same type of behavior, “I don’t like x so I want it taken away”
Just for the sake of saying it, I have done most of the jumping puzzles, I think I am missing 2 of the WvW ones, I have done 90% them by jumping and I have also taken portals when available AND tipped (oh shock horror) the mesmer that KINDLY helped me.
I am done with this thread and explaining myself. Have fun.
No, personally, I paid for one infinite gathering tool WITH the chance of sprockets. I saved up and bought gems to buy that item specifically for what it was , and what it did
I don’t have an issue with tool skins being added to the wardrobe. I do have an issue with functionality I paid specifically for, being removed, or having to be re-earned through a mastery system.
The main point I am trying to make is a small amount of people rushing to say do x, then Anet says oh all these people want this let’s do it. Then most people who didn’t want x get it. It’s happened before. Then there comes a time we can’t use utilities to help others out, all because of a couple of people complaining, ABOUT NOTHING.
I highly highly doubt rewards from JP’s make much of an economic impact. maybe we could get John Smith to weigh in , but I doubt it would be worth his time… seriously.
I see give or take 2 people being all noisy about a non issue. I see threads purposefully directed at changing JP’s and PVE parking because crafting nodes were removed from WvW. Trying to create issues where there were none. Why don’t you all just go on back about your business?
Why are you getting hung up on this PvE parking issue by responding to me? It’s like you add 1 and 1 and make 4.
Because of your indirectly commenting to me/about me without quoting me. Is the “Fix PVE parking” guy your buddy or something? LOL
How do portals in JP’s affect YOU personally? (Either they help you or you can choose to ignore them.)
How does a player parking in PVE somewhere affect YOU personally? (Either you can acknowledge that you already do this in different spots, or you can just ignore those who do.)
Answer: They don’t affect you personally. Yet here you are trying to fight some kind of battle against other players FOR NO REASON, FOR SOMETHING THAT DOESN’T AFFECT YOU.
It’s not that people demand that people play their preferred gaming style, it’s more that they demand that their favourite content isn’t cheapened by skipping the entire content.
That’s a distinction that makes no difference. Other players don’t get to “demand” that I share their definition of value. One of my favorite activities — helping friends & strangers by porting — would be removed (not just cheapened) if these demands were met.
Everyone’s entitled to an opinion. No one’s entitled to impose that opinion on others. “Make jumping puzzles great again” does exactly that, by imposing a definition of ‘great’ that doesn’t apply to this game.
I don’t see any demanding of thinking the same as OP nor any imposing of any opinions. I just see a difference in opinion. One against portals and one for portals.

And yet the Devs spoke about portals and Jumping Puzzles, and gave their blessing.
Truly, no one has to use a portal should they feel it does not suit their gaming style. Why demand others play only as another’s preferred gaming style?
It is really getting tiresome to see people trying to take things away and change things and fix things that don’t need fixing!
PVE parking doesn’t affect you if you don’t like it, don’t do it. If you don’t want to use portals don’t! It is really that simple.
Well concerning the sprocket thing if that is one of the things keeping them from moving the endless gathering tools over to the wardrobe system then they could always just remove it off the tool. Then add random sprocket nodes in the areas where scarlet attacked like Kessex Hills, Lornar’s Pass or even Lion’s Arch like how you can still find toxic spores in Kessex. No other endless gathering tool has anything like that attached to it so it’d be an easy transition from there.
No.
Snap to target might help you, but it takes some getting used to.
Correct me if I am wrong, but the only functionalities are from the Watchwork pick with its chance for sprockets, and from the Frostbitten tools with the chance for tiny snowflakes. I get the feeling the pick was a trial at monetizing the functionality and the others at just giving it away.
A while back I suggested introducing ways to add functionality, possibly through crafting, but it didn’t get much traction.
To make gw2 great- introduce underwater content, give us new dungeons that give ascended armor and have more puzzles and are more time consuming to help weed out casuals and you can’t hide in the corner to fight a boss.
Believe me when I say underwater content is not a good idea; they did this in wow and boy did everyone hate it deeply. Very, very deeply.
Well, the thing is we already have underwater content, and not only that but one of the dragons we will face is an underwater dragon. Personally I like it.
Clearly you aren’t reading the replies people are giving you.
Most of that is available already though… just read the description on the tooltips of the bag, and then if it doesn’t have any it is default.
Seems like kind of a neat idea, but kind of redundant since they pop up on the mini map anyways, just zoom in and out for honing in on a node.
Using a portal to the end of a JP should not award absolutely anything.
Mes should still be able to use ports to as a tool to actually do the JP by himself or with a party.. but straight up teleporting to the very end of a JP should not be a thing.
It’s been a thing for about 4 years, if it is not your thing, then don’t take a portal and do the puzzle yourself.
Buy generic bags from the TP, problem instantly solved.
Delete. Live and learn.
1) Finish your PS or turn it off in the options.
2) Not going to happen.
Why has XP got to keep rewarding people? I really dont get this obsession with ‘wasted XP’. It’s not wasted XP, its just not relevant to you right now. As soon as new mastery tracks are added, it’ll be relevant again. Deal with it. I’ve had maxed masteries for months now and I honestly can’t see what people are obsessing about.
Giving more loot for doing PvE is just distasteful and causes even more imbalance between modes. The game mode which gets you the most gold/hr ratio out of all 3 game modes and you want more?
I do not like the idea of xp going to waste. Be it from crafting, exploring, or killing enemies or events. That feeling of progression is important to players.

No thanks. Tired of others trying to take things away. Trying to make PVE parking an issue when there really isn’t an issue.
Is this another one of those I want people to suffer because they took away crafting in WvW threads? The other thread got deleted after about 10 or so posts.
I second the open world content. I do play other modes, but hands down PVE is my favorite and I love exploring and eye candy, gathering and stuff other people may find boring.
They need to just add this stuff to the account wallet.
Just do it!
I seem to recall seeing they changed the button or method, or some such not too long ago.
+1 for the thread and the suggestion like I always do with these threads.
I could be totally wrong in my assumption, but not really sure what other reasons there would be for the time gating.
I think the time gating is to preserve a certain price threshold for the crafter, so that after crafting the ascended gear a player needs they can make a little profit from their craft.
I would want that to be left intact, so I don’t agree with the request. I put in the time to craft what I felt I needed and now (finally) am able to make a little bit of coin for my efforts.
Take all of the gems you would spend on unlimited tools, exchange them for gold. Use gold to buy a permanent merchant contract off the TP. Put in shared inventory.
You now have unlimited gathering tools for as many characters as you want to make.
Except that there is a still a cost at the merchant, and the picks do not drop sprockets.
Orichalcum gathering tools cost a whopping 4 silver each. That’s a cost of 4 copper per swing for the axe/pick, and 8 copper for the harvesting sickle. As for lack of watchwork sprockets, you got me there.
Still, if you think buying unlimited gathering tools is more economical than using orichalcum tools, you are mistaken (with the exception of the watchwork pick).
That is where the convenience factor comes in and not having to be frustrated when I can’t gather at a node because the blue pick ran out! + not having to go to a merchant to get another
IIRC when I bought the set of tools it was impossible to stack the merchant tools. Not sure if this is or isn’t the case or not, can’t remember… but I think that factored into my decision as well.
Bah, I have stacks and stacks of them. Perhaps, I should part with them more often.
Do players still create Tempered Spinal Backpieces? Maybe just for the skins, I suppose.
My point exactly. These materials were meant to be extremely common, dropping by the bucket load during LWS1. But when that content went away nearly every source of them went with it. For example, Watchwork Sprockets, once occurring in such quantities that people would delete piles because they were worthless, are now basically only available in quantities of 6-12 PER DAY from the home instance node. This means the difficulty of forging anything that needs them (including Blade Shards, which have an even lower drop rate currently) is far far higher than was intended, and thus the price of those items is itself rapidly reaching insane levels as the remaining supplies in the hands of LWS1 players begin to dry up.
Really? Because I get hundreds of sprockets per day from gathering… Yay watchwork pick! That one time expense has certainly paid off for all of the above, including extra coin when needed. Might not be the preferred method, but they are certainly not hard to come by or reaching insane levels in price.
The infinite harvesting tools in the gem store have always seemed like a bad deal to me, even for 1 character. A copper-o-matic is 800 gems, which is a flat $10, for something I use every 30 seconds. The harvesting tools are 1000 gems, so a $20 minimum each, and I use them much less frequently.
In addition, unlike the copper-o-matic, which I use regularly in all game modes, the harvesting tools only get used when I’m about to burst farm an area. Since I have to prepare for the burst anyway (usually by switching characters to my speedy thief, using speed boosts, et cetera), going to the kodan merchant in LA to pick up some spare harvesting tools for like 20 silver really isnt that inconvenient.
I addition, you really need all 3 on one character for it to be convenient at all, since if you have 1 or 2, you will make the same number of trips to a merchant to refill on tools.
I harvest with all of my characters and the infinite tools are a nice convenience especially with the shared slots, could they be made more convenient? Sure.
I bought them for the convenience of not having to go to the merchant repeatedly because I kept running out, and for the bonus of some extra coin with the sprockets from the watchwork pick. Very much worth it to me, not all players play this game the same way.

PvE parking? I don’t see it as an issue. Also, I’m not fond of the OP’s solution. I leave characters where I want them to be in PvE, so I can jump into what I want to do when I get on. Sometimes, this is nowhere near a WP. No, I don’t usually park at the ends of JP’s either, but I do park near stuff I might want to do. This is a convenience, especially in zones with few/contested WP’s.
You win the thread. Minus the mount part
So tools are 1,000 gems.
You get 5 characters with the base game, with the ability to add more.
If they let you simply copy that tool to all characters, that’s a minimum of 4,000 gems that you never have to buy.
Some people have 50 characters on their account, so that’d be 49,000 gems that never get sold.
See the issue?
While it would be super awesome to have an account-wide unlimited tool, it isn’t practical due to the lost revenue it would cause.
I have 1 set of gathering tools now, and will probably never purchase another if they remain as they are.
If they were made account bound I’d be quite likely to pick up the sprocket one at some point.
They could probably sell me shared gathering lots for a few thousand gems. The issue is nowhere near as simple as you’re trying to make it seem.
For the sake of keeping things clear, they are account bound already. The request is for the ultimate convenience of a means of not having to slot them every time on each character.
It is not unreasonable, but not fool proof either.
Is someone who never spent a dime on the game after buying it, and started playing after HoT, and just got GW1 to get the fancy stuff for GW2 more loyal, than a player who started to play GW2 at the beginning and has spent maybe hudreds of dollars on costumes and stuff, but doesn’t want to try GW1?
The loyalty I am referring to is between Anet and players, and being told that the rewards would never be available by another means.
Not sure how that is not sinking in. They said “never” as in not available by any other means other than earning them like many players that wanted the skins have done. It is still available to do so, and it doesn’t look like that is changing.
If you want the skins then you have to do what every one else that has them has done. Not wanting to, or being to lazy to or whatever the case may be… that is on that person, and entirely their decision, and not Anet’s or the ones that do have the skins problem.
Loyalty. We were told the rewards would NEVER be available by any other means, so is it unreasonable to EXPECT THAT?
<snip> Something implemented like the Morrowind Mark/Recall spells would be more universally useful; not just for the limited purpose of crafting.
A way to mystically ‘mark’ a single spot in Tyria (like where you’re currently adventuring), then you can ‘recall’ (i.e. teleport) to that specific spot any time (such as after you finished crafting in Rata Sum). The mark could stay until a new mark is created to replace it.
This is a great idea to me, implemented properly it would be a definitive favorite item of many.
Getting the feeling the OP would be against standing around in the PVP lobby sorting inventory/bank tabs too.
This just seems like a reactionary post by someone who was affected by the crafting nodes being removed from WvW.
I have no issue with parking players at certain places at all. What’s next booting players who’ve parked at the flax farm in VB?
Honestly, the only thing that annoys me about the HoM achievements is the fact that 500 AP is gated behind them. You can keep your skins and titles, I want a way to get that AP.
And for the record, this is coming from someone who bought and played GW1 and the first 2 expansions, but I got nothing because apparently I didn’t support the game for the very specific window of time required for these rewards.
You have a way. Play the game, as we all did.
Yay, another worthless Jenna mini. Birthdays in GW2 are the most disappointing ever compared to the ones in GW1.
The birthday blaster is fun and a unique idea, the free (and can be) expensive dye is also nice. More mini variety ala GW1 would be loved by a lot of players, sure. Most disappointing ever? Nah not buying that.
I am a GW1 vet I guess as in I did have the game a few years before GW2 came out and I did earn 35 points to have a specific title (for my Rev) as well as all the other goodies.
Having said that, I wouldn’t mind if they did give you another way in GW2 to access these skins. HOWEVER I would only agree to such a thing if they also offered NEW rewards be they skins, minipets, toys or whatever for those vets who already have the others unlocked. In order for players such as the OP to obtain access to these new skins/whatever they would have to go back to GW1 and do everything that we did.
Is this a compromise we could all live with lol?
Certainly isn’t.
No way the HoM rewards should be available by any other means ever.
I agree! I have been playing GW2 since beta but I literally NEVER got a b-day gift before because I am a mainoholic and keep rerolling my main because I want to play as a different race, LOL. Hopefully this time I’ll stick with Sylvari… It kind of hurts my feelings that I’ve been here since start and I don’t have the Loyal title, that’s all I want.
Uhhhh to have it, you have to be it… TO YOUR CHARACTERS!
