It’s funny. When you read back over the old “n3rfz teh 3l3” threads, most of the complaints are about being able to consistently defeat an ele, but they can always run away. So, ANet responded by nerfing the ele’s ability to run away… and their ability to stay and fight against people who were saying they could already easily defeat an ele and make them run.

Now they wonder why people think ele isn’t viable.

They need to homogenize the loot tables and remove grey loot. The last time I junked I had 14 different kinds of loot bags, 5 kinds of scrap metal, 4 kinds of scrap leather, 3 different kinds of claws and an assortment of random meat cluttering up my inventory from WvW. All loot dropped in WvW should be level 80, and there should be simple coin drops instead of junk loot.

I’m not difficult to please. I want:

1. Balanced matchups that take not just total points into account, but when those points are accumulated. A strong NA server with no SEA presence should never face a weak NA server with strong SEA presence. PvDoor is the worst part of WvW, yet the current matchup system creates it constantly by mismatching servers that should never face each other.

2. Fair and balanced gameplay without grinding. Nobody asked to have to grind out 231 WXP ranks for 100 power, 100 condi damage and 250 vitality to be on even footing with all of the zerglings. WvW is moving in the same direction as WAR: grind your face off for rr80 and Sov gear; faceroll. It’s not there yet, but we haven’t seen any sign that WXP isn’t going to keep giving advantages in fights.

3. Better maps that make forming up into one giant queue zerg and rolling around the map (or even multiple maps) no longer the most effective way to play. When you can bring a queue zerg from one side of the BL to the other in <2 minutes, it’s a problem. Small groups can’t exist and be competitive when that is happening.

4. Fix the skill lag. Seriously.

There are some other smaller changes that I would like to see, but these are the big ones.

You people can’t be serious.

Bug fixes, NPCs, grind and PvE hand-me-downs are what you’re happy with? Most of the things you guys are listing are largely viewed as negative and a step away from what WvW players want.

Stronger ACs? Advantages for grinding your face off (on every character because sharing WXP wouldn’t be face meltingly grindy enough)? Unbalanced matchups?

You want a good mix of damage and survivability (more toughness and condi removal than vitality).

Ele loses long drawn out sustain fights against most other classes now, so you want enough power and crit to burst people down fast without being a glass canon. 2k power, 20% crit chance (before fury) and 70% crit damage is probably the lowest you can get away with and still have any chance to burst through all of the regen tanks running around.

Focus on getting crit damage from efficient sources (divinity runes, traits and exquisite ruby jewels) so that you don’t lose out on overall stats.

5 (upgrade slot of trinkets and backpack)
7 (Ruby and Beryl orb)
10 (traits)
12 (glove, shoulder and boots)
12.8 (1H weapons and amulet)

Encounters need to deal high damage on a more frequent and consistent basis instead of just one big “dodge now” burst every 5-10 seconds. When you can avoid 100% of the damage in a fight with timely dodging, defense and healing don’t matter and are even a waste of time in most cases. Casting your 1.5 second heal costs you 20k damage output.

I prefer Winter Ice over Celestial. It doesn’t wash out the detail as much and has a glossy sheen in most lighting where celestial is very flat.

Guardian is so “balanced” every team needs one.

Guardian is the only class that can control access to a point and actively defend their teammates, but having a unique (and mandatory) skillset doesn’t make them overpowered. Other classes should get some of guardian’s toys as opposed to taking them away from or weakening guards.

I haven’t tested it, but if they put charges on arcane retribution, that’s a nerf. It was 100% crit chance on all attacks for 5 seconds.

What happened to JQueue? When I left, JQ was the strongest NA server that had a weak SEA presence. Now their NA is a notch above bad and they zerg like nobody else in SEA.

That’s cute, he’s also the only ele to make it to the finals in a meta that’s unforgiving for eles in general.

They would have beaten TP if Mogwog wasn’t weighing them down. Even an average necro would have pushed them over the top.

I realize you’re riding the guy’s jock, but I was actually pointing out that it doesn’t matter how good the player is when the spec is that bad. A burst ele is a liability to his team and it was made abundantly clear by how much time Mogwog spent on the ground.

In PvP they don’t have names for wvw players because they simply don’t care.

Evasive Arcana in Water = Frozen Burst

The reason water and arcana feel mandatory are because of the important stats on top of nice traits.
Lowest hp bracket=need more vitality and heals= water
All builds need swapping=intelligence=arcana (except for fresh air and burst builds)

The line would still feel as mandetory tbh, this is just nerfing EA, which I feel competes with elemental surge fairly well as it is.

Who in their right mind would take Elemental Surge over Evasive Arcana…?

It’s better than EA when running arcane wave and power.

trying to fit 2 arcanes in your utilities already makes it worse.

mogwow plays 2 arcanes and that guy is undoubtedly one of the best players in europe.

He uses them in his S/D build to great effect vs Team paradigm in the recent european tour finals.

Is Mogwog the ele who got downed 40+ times against TP in the EU qualifier finals? He was more of a detriment to his team than a help. In WvW we call players like that “rally bait” because that’s about the extent of their contribution.

I guess that’s one way to farm 25 stacks. That guy put up more of a fight than most Yak’s zergs this week.

Sounds like a great idea. They should also award 15 rank/glory for every WvW kill, 50 for every lord kill, 20 for every WvW objective cap/decap, 25 for every yak kill, and of course points for spamming the treb and cannons.

Hundreds of instant dragons and thousands of phoenix who have never set foot in sPvP seems fair. Why shouldn’t they get sPvP rewards for not doing sPvP?

When playing in WvWvW you can use Tornado to massively up your damage because of the buff that Tornado gives you. You don’t even have to move in the tornado. Just find a semi safe spot, cast meteor shower and then immediately cast tornado so your meteors are buffed like crazy. >:)

Wow, thanks for posting this. I can’t believe I hadn’t realized you could use it like this before, even though I knew this works with might.

Elite transforms all act as stat bonuses. They’re especially powerful on well necros with lich form. Drop wells, hop into lich form for triple base power, and double base precision/vitality. Watch 6k damage ticks fly all over your screen every second while you do your best maniacally evil laugh. So much fun.

Pretty much spot on with that…. stars aligning on another player. Not in full zerker gear as I still have around 20k health with guard stacks, but umm yeah.

Meteor shower does over 50% more damage than fireball. WvW is full of uplevels.

Point missed ? Unsure

Just pointing out that a skill that hits 50% harder than the one being discussed still didn’t hit for 10k, even though it was likely against an upleveled player.

I’m not sure how you’re achieving 9-10k crits with Staff auto-attack… Could you perhaps show a screenshot of this happening? Or better yet, a video.

People make these sort of exaggerated claims all the time. While it’s technically possible when the stars align, it’s nowhere near the kind of damage you would see in the real world. To hit a 0 toughness scholar class for over 10k with fireball, you would need 3500 power, 120% crit damage, scholar, piercing shards, vital striking, bolt to the heart, tempest defense, and a big stack of vulnerability against a stunned target below 33% health, while you’re above 90% health and attuned to water.
