Skins should just be unlocks instead of actual items. Once you have it you should be able to pull as many of that skin as you want.

They should also dump the entire salvage/mystic toilet system and just sell skins for glory. tPvP skins would be bought with tPvP tokens from tournament chests.

AoE seems fine most of the time. You don’t need 5 people to stand in the circle and you can rotate in your second bunker when the first runs low on defensive cooldowns.

Some capture points that are very closed in can create problems though. Specifically keep and clock tower.

I’m waiting for all the bunker ele, OP class only players to switch to troll thieves and get those nerfed. That’ll be at least a couple months yet, but man will it be sweet.

Nobody considered 0 20 0 20 30 eles OP when we had a flat 12 second 1550 range RTL. Having it be 10 hit/20 miss wouldn’t be any better.

Mist form/elixir S have been nerfed to a point that a lot of people consider them not worth taking. I think most people agree that the nerfs went too far.

Cantrip ele had already been brought in line months before they kitten lightning flash.

Conjure Weapons: Weapon swap?

I think this is the best idea I’ve heard to make conjures… less terrible.

Keep the skill cooldown to limit conjure swapping in and out quickly
Using the skill gives the ele a weapon swap to the conjured weapon with no charges
The skill summons a weapon for another person to use with 15 charges
There’s no cooldown to leave the conjure
There’s a 10 second cooldown to go back
Using another conjure skill destroys the current conjure

It would be fine with FGS. Leaving it for 10 seconds is a loss of mobility, even for a D/D ele.

I probably still wouldn’t take a conjured weapon utility in any of my builds, but at least it’s a step toward respectability.

My problem with warrior is that I can spec to be a beastly 1v1 duelist/roamer, or a beastly team support CC monster, but never the two shall meet and any attempt to find a middle ground is just bad at everything.

Lightning Flash is much better now.

It got the cooldown slashed down to 40seconds, the damage is higher if you care about that.
Sure it lost the stunbreaker. But! You can still teleport while stunned.

Sure you remain stunned, but you are out of harms way and stuns dont generally last all that long. Especially not in PvP where the longest stuns are 2seconds(?). The guy that stunned you now has to les then 2seconds to jog towards where you flashed to actually take advantage of that stun.
Given human reaction times and having to find you he’ll likely have barely 1sec to close 900range, and thats with a 2sec stun.

“Slashed” to 40 seconds. A whole 5 seconds in exchange for losing its stun breaker. Oh and don’t forget that it now hits for 1200 instead of 800. Watch out, I might one shot somebody.

If it’s such a trivial change that makes no difference, why would they bother making it and why would you object to it being changed back?

You don’t need high damage to win a fight. Guardian can wear down or run off anything besides heavy sustain builds and then you’re still not going to lose. The only thing that scares my guardian is a necro with full life force and every cooldown, when I don’t have everything up.

meta mesmer sacrifice 2 utilities for group support and relies on clones for damage

Shatter build doesn’t need utilities to have fantastic damage and survivability. Everything they need is built into their weapon skills and shatters. Even if I get in trouble, I can just moa to reset.

meta eng build has beed nerf.

HGH condition build has been nerf by boon hate from thieves, elixir R, and elixir S. Teldo and Koroshi build are much harder to play than a d/d element

The nerfs are wildly exaggerated and engi is still fine. Mist form took the same nerf as elixir S and eles still use it even with a significantly longer cooldown. HGH isn’t even the best engi right now.

Cannot comment on Necro but they cannot escape battle as easily as an ele

Necro doesn’t need to run from anything. They’re the strongest offensive class in the game right now. I’m not going to jump on the “necro OP!” tear train, but they are really strong right now.

I don’t pay that much attention to what boons and condis are flying around or use my dodges efficiently and I still win with minimal effort. On ele, I have to watch everything that’s going on, never use a key skill while blind/aegis is up, dodge every hard hitting ability and maintain my tiny health pool all while trying to kill my opponent with some of the most difficult skill shots to land in the entire game.

I can achieve the same level of effectiveness on all of the classes, but I barely have to try on the top builds while I have to pretty much go all out on ele to beat good players. If I ever got motivated enough to master those other top builds, I would probably never play ele again.

errrr…. you are complaining that ele doesnt have a dumb down 1 vs 1 build and you are forced to bring team support?

Elemental have support, offense, and sustain baked into their weapon sets. To balance such advantage, versatile build comes with a higher skill floor.

Those so called “easy builds” being very little group support. In fact, most of these builds are frown upon on high level tournaments to their inherit weaknesses of being selfish.

Are you proposing that Anet should dumb down the class to make a possible easy 1 vs 1 build for the ele?

No, I’m saying that I can play a meta viable guardian, mesmer, engi or necro and win fights with little effort or focus. Defeating the same opponent on an ele is a desperate fight that requires me to focus on every detail and play mistake free in order to win.

If you miss your burst, it’s going to be 40 seconds before you can try again. Your burst is mostly difficult to land and easy to miss skills.

You have no room for error because of your health pool and the eternity before your stun breakers come back up. Now that they’ve moved stun breakers to non-competitive utilities and left the actual good utilities as high risk, that margin for error is even slimmer.

If I’m having an easy time winning fights with little effort or focus on other classes that I have 1/5th the experience playing, and I’m having desperate fights against the same opponents as an ele which I have over 2000 hours playing, then imagine how easy playing those classes would be if I actually put 2000 hours in to master them. I’m not playing those other classes at anywhere near the skill level and yet I have an easier time winning fights with all of them.

Just to say, I did NOT read the entire thread…

But just reading the first line of the OP, has made me make this post. “They’ve just became viable” – viable as in kittening overpowered? Yup sure, viable indeed for the person playing one. The amount of damage the conditions is doing at the moment is simply kittened. Even with my Condi remove build I lost a massive amount of health in mere seconds.

That does not mean it’s balanced, it’s completely the other way around. And I play an Elementalist, with somewhat moderate amounts (as some may know) of abilities to remove conditions.

You’re fighting a glass cannon…

Of course you’re going to lose chunks of health. If you can just hit a button and erase 7+ cooldowns worth of conditions before they do any damage, how is a glass cannon necro going to kill you?

Condi removal is your toughness against conditions. It’s not supposed to make you immune, it’s supposed to lower the damage you take as you stack more. How much health do you lose in mere seconds when a 30 30 0 0 10 D/D thief spikes you? You’ll take more damage in that half second than you will in 6+ of being caught in a necro fear chain.

Wrong! The challenge was fine when we were facing DB and FA.

This is a troll, right? No way is this guy upset because servers that were in a higher tier and have more coverage across the clock are able to put up a “challenge” for the guys that suffer from and complain about queues.

Do people still not understand the new rating system, and why it was implemented? It was because people complained about fighting the same servers over and over. Now you complain that only the servers in your tier could give you a challenge. I just went full Psyduck.

Nope, he’s saying that the solution to bad match-making is to transfer to a lower tier where bad match-making is less of a problem.

Honestly, why would I transfer from the server I’ve been on since Beta because Anet has made a poor design choice?

The more rational choice is to point out why it was a poor design, and how things were pretty good in T2 before the change. Then maybe they’ll tighten things up.

Your response points out that perhaps the situation wasn’t widely known. So hopefully this corrects any misinformation.

I was on JQueue in beta and played on the server until we snatched the crown from HoD. The next week, we were flooded by bandwagon scrubs who clogged up the queues and destroyed the community. That week, we beat SBI and HoD combined by 268k points. Rather than complain about how our insanely stacked server mowed down the competition 24 hours a day, I left and sought out more competitive and entertaining fights in the lower tiers.

You have the same options. Sit on your stacked server and wait in queues to zerg the crap out of outmanned servers, or transfer to a lower ranked server where you can get competitive fights.

The symbol on the ground is different. The casting animation is the same or so similar you won’t notice it and it’s going to be cast on top of the target 90% of the time so that the appearance on the ground doesn’t matter.

Nerf Putrid mark

I’m a proponent of making all powerful skills have clear and distinctive animations that reflect their potency. Having fight changing abilities that are less recognizable than an auto attack is part of the trouble with balance.

Ele and warrior are great examples of how powerful skill animations should look, but most classes either cast their most powerful abilities almost instantly or they lack an obvious casting animation.

Warriors dont need small changes. They need drastic changes: The class feels extremely unresponsive, slow, cumbersome.

This patch kind of shows that you don’t need big changes to effect big balance shifts. Necro was in a decent B+ state with warrior before the patch with most people calling them turrible. They got burning and an extra fear with a few other tweaks and suddenly everyone lost their mind with OP spam. Most people are even now calling the things necro has always had OP.

I feel sorry for necros. They’re going to get the ele treatment with blindfolded whack-a-mole nerfs that don’t make any sense and mostly miss what is actually wrong until they’re accidentally brought down to where people think they should be. Then they’ll take a few more random nerfs just for good measure.

The best part will be how 90% of the nerfs affect fringe viable builds while having modest effect on meta builds.

Boon duration for DPS: Worth it?

That would probably be why I said :

Boon duration is a great choice unless you already keep up perma fury and 25 might stacks. But if you’re already maintaining very high fury uptime and 20+ stacks of might, you won’t see as much of a gain.

40% boon duration runes will push a S/D build over the edge so that you can start overlapping your blast rotations and keep essentially perma 25 might. With l-e-s-s- b-o-o-n duration you will still be able to spike to 20+ might, but not maintain it throughout an extended fight (especially not when moving). You’re not maintaining perma fury on S/D without boon duration or persisting flames 30 points up fire (lulz).

You can’t kill a competent thief 1v1 or a good thief with less than 3v1. All you can do is survive until they run out of resources and give up.

Luckily, most of the people who play thief are insanely bad and don’t carry escape skills (but my damages!!!!111!!one!1!). One stun/immob and they’ll be downed.

Boon duration for DPS: Worth it?

Scholar is the highest DPS increase you can get if you are always above 90% health. In PvE that’s pretty realistic, but with our low health pool in PvP we’re dropped below that in one hit.

Boon duration is a great choice unless you already keep up perma fury and 25 might stacks. But if you’re already maintaining very high fury uptime and 20+ stacks of might, you won’t see as much of a gain.

0 20 0 20 30 zerker effective power with:

Divinity 12 might, 50% fury : 5500
Scholar 12 might, 50% fury: 6100
+Boon 25 might, 100% fury: 6200

Boon duration also helps you keep up protection, stability and regen to make your glass build more survivable.

With fresh air there are ways to play S/D as a burst set up so that you will always have fury up for your entire burst without boon duration. It’s a higher skill cap risk/reward playstyle though. Any time you don’t have fury up, it’s a big decrease in your damage output.

They may be moving in that direction at some point. The next update will include new armor/weapons unlocked with achievement points. In the future, this could be expanded to WXP rank.

If you want a PvP achievement, you’re going to have to earn it or get lucky. I and thousands of others have run EBJP hundreds of times and never once complained about campers or PvP. You’re not special.

What part of the limited-time Sky Pirates achievement makes it a PvP achievement? Is it the part where it is not found on any PvP tab? Or the part where the condition for getting it does not require any PvP wins or kills?

Don’t be a kitten, full stop.

It’s the part where it’s found in a PvP zone. You know, the tiny area set aside where you can fight other people instead of a script. You’re not just allowed to PvP there, you’re supposed to.

S/D, D/D, or Staff for 1v1?

Play D/D or S/D for 1v1. Staff is a terrible 1v1 weapon, and focus is not as good as dagger offhand.

D/D has better sustained damage, mobility and defense. S/D has better burst damage and the range advantage.

Arena fights are some of the best JP PvP. I’ve been alone and teamed up with server A to clear an arena camp from server B so many times. It’s great fun. We used to have to clear 10+ man camps out of there when they could build Arrow Carts at the top and fire them into the tunnel coming from the dark room. Now it’s a cake walk.

This is what I run. Swap out weapons and your second arcana trait between VI and VIII. Otherwise, everything stays the same unless special situations arise. I have Knight’s and Soldier’s alternate sets for when we’re assaulting a keep with tons of ACs and being too glassy is suicide, but 90% of the time glass is the most useful to your team.

In air, you can also swap out either trait for IX so you have access to static field, ride the lightning and updraft more often.

How to kill necro?

Most are very predictable.

Staff 2 → 3 → 5 (fear)
Death shroud 3 – 5 (maybe 2 to teleport to you)
Switch to S/D to stack bleeding

The easy way is to pop stability and cover it with other boons. Stability is coded to be the last boon stripped by corrupt boon, which was nerfed to only corrupt 5. You’re pretty much just going to roll over them like a glass D/D thief without stealth. If he doesn’t have corrupt boon /laugh and steam roll him.

The alternative is to go offensive when he starts his fear bomb rotation. Lightning flash → updraft into your burst rotation while he’s still casting marks. I’ve killed tons of these stupid glass cannon necros before they can get up. 0 30 10 0 30 are a little harder because DS gives them stability, but they don’t have the damage of the 30 30 10 0 0 FOTM that is making everyone cry.

In general, stun break or use cleansing fire when you get feared so that he can’t stack condis on you uninterrupted. Be aggressive and try to hit him hard when he is in DS to burn through all of his life force. It’s very frustrating to have 30% life force for your burst only to have it disappear instantly to a big burst of damage.

If you’re not already using Ether Renewal to avoid all of the condi engi and rangers running around, it’s pretty much mandatory now. We’ve been living in a condi meta for a while, but now it’s undeniable.

If you survive the fear bomb, necro is the easiest class to defeat.

Again, a situation where skills are put to the wrong use and then used to invalidate those skills and indeed the entire class.

Does no one in this thread know how to use a staff? This is just sad….

Show us, oh glorious PvP masters. Teach the peasants how staff is an amazing weapon and isn’t a free kill like every other person in the entire game thinks it is.

^ auto attacks are almost the only abilities you have that will hit a moving target and they’re all poor damage.

I’m sure you really hurt the grass with your epic eruption, ice spike, lava font combo, but players just walk out of it.

Elementalist high skill attack combos require you to activate 8-10 abilities, including multiple ground targeted abilities, in under a second. Playing the class at the skill cap requires the most manual dexterity and attention to both your buffs/conditions and your opponent’s to be optimal while having the narrowest margin for error.

That said, playing a D/D tanky brawler with simple skill rotations can be effective and fairly brain dead, so the class can be played at most skill levels. It’s nothing like a Thi333333f or a more one spam ranger, but still not especially difficult.

And the ranger forums complain about how their bad at condi removal, are out maneuvered by every other prof minus necro, and that their pets are worthless, seeing a trend?

The only trend I see is that rangers seem to be mostly clueless newbs.

In the last few months, ele has lost perma swiftness without juggling weapons (can’t do this at all in tPvP or combat), had the cooldown on RTL nearly trippled, and had lightning flash nerfed to the point that it’s a high risk utility to take on the same level as arcane blast/wave. And as if that wasn’t enough, they further cut RTL distance in half while carrying the orb, because being the 2nd fastest orb carrier was just too strong. Guess which class was the undisputed best orb carrier with over the top mobility? Hint: we recently uncovered a trend about them being mostly clueless newbs.
