That warrior was the only one who even did anything and he would only use earthshaker (which you never dodged or avoided at all) and then he would just stop attacking. Both yours and your opponents gameplay didnt feel very smooth

Small suggestion Archon, take Vigorous Renewal instead of Expertise Training. Every pulse of Healing Spring triggers the vigor so that water field is a “fix everything” pit stop for your zerg: healing blasts, condi removal, regen, and more dodges.

Healing spring doesn’t grant vigor on each pulse for a couple months now

No wonder you were having a hard time you were roaming with a staff ele. My advice would be to ask the ele forum for good roaming builds and watch some videos to pick up some tips and tricks as well

But its still not as effective as if it were full zerk. Its the truth, and you can’t deny it. Youd be much more effective in anything PVE if you were full zerk. And if youve never even tried it before then.....

No. Simply learning to play is enough

^ zeal 5 doesn’t make or break WoE. Using a hammer alone with WoE is awesome. And i didnt take a GM honor trait because im planning on taking the new trait, which isn’t in the calc yet. Traveler runes also work a lot better than speed runes. Speed are just what i have available atm

No youre getting PVE and pvp mixed up here. Meta for PVE is 30/25/0/0/15 GS+Axe/Ma full zerk with scholar runes. There are multiple builds for Pvp however, which may be what is confusing you. Hambow, condi, GS/Bow, axe/Sh are all great for pvp

But the fact remains that zerker will be used to the most effect. Nothing after the patch will change that either. Highest possible direct dmg builds will still be king in PVE until they fix mob AI, skipping, or active defense vs passive defense. And tbh none of those need fixing, except mob AI

Choose traits not based on the stats, but based on how the various minor, adept, master, and GM traits can augment and help what your goal with the build is.

Anything but zerk is bad in PVE because every single bit of dmg can be completely avoided through evades, blocks, blinds, reflects, and interrupts. Not to mention most bosses, instead of many, smaller attacks, have 1 oneshot attack. All the defensive stats in the world wont save you from those. That means the only way to go is full DPS. So yeah, you may have had no problem staying up with those zerkers (which isn’t hard since you were stacking all these defensive stats while they weren’t) they were doing a hella of a lot more DPS than you. Full Valkyrie is really bad, since your completely wasting all of your crit dmg with absolutely 0 crit chance

@Monoman inner fire is an awesome trait. It allows for perma fury when fighting some of the most popular roaming builds, aka condi engi, meditation guard, condi necro, condi/bow warrior, PU/staff mesmers, d/d eles. The only class it doesn’t help with is thieves. And if i were to change it it would be all into zeal or virtues. The minor zeal traits are terribad

^ the reason people say that and the reason they don’t suck in WvW/PVE is because you can customize your stats a lot better. In spvp you just throw on an amulet with predetermined stats, which is why it sucks in spvp, you can’t customize stats

Hey guys! This is a new roaming build ive theory crafted for the 15th. It uses the hammer and GS, along with the new GM trait in honor so that you don’t have to build for any vitality at all.
Some features of this build

-2050 power
-19k health
-35% crit chance, with near perma fury
-2900 armor
-106% crit dmg
-nearly 500hp dodge heals
-25% movement speed from speed runes
-good soft CC through hammer and hydromancy sigils, easy to stick on people

Sound interesting? Then read on. You’ve got some of the highest sustain in the game, even more so with 2 sigils on 2handers. Extremely tanky and yet able to put out awesome dmg. A common combo i use is mighty blow->JI->RoW->swap to GS and lay on the hurt while theyre ringed in and cant escape. This will get people downed or very close to it, so you can either Binding blade them back to you or leap, or swap back to hammer and immobilize them followed by another mighty blow

Im having some troubles deciding what sigils to run after the patch. Obviously hydromancy, but energy, leeching, accuracy, and air/fire are all good as well. Plis help

Deleted my game 2 weeks ago. after over 1.5 year of playing. It become really time consuming lately with my WvW guild. Can’t play for 2-3 hours every day. Need to spend time in real life not in a fantasy. Now i can’t stop trolling forum:) It is kittening addiction.

With a 0/30/30/10/0 build zerk weapons/trinkets, full soldiers armor, and ruby orbs. This will get you 2100 power, 15.5k health, 2500 armor, 52% crit chance, and 96% crit dmg

Ok. But thats 30 trait points while using a meh weapon. Guardians have that as a 5 point trait you just get automatically for just 5 points, with no other requirements. Thats why its getting nerfed

To answer the basic question posed, People view PU as OP and Cheese because of two major reasons.

1. It relies heavily upon stealth, which has 0 hard counters in game at this time.

2. Mesmers can summon Clones, Phants and have them do damage. This damage and summoning process does not De-stealth the Mesmer.

People tend to frown upon PU for similar reasons to frowning upon MM Necros or Spirit rangers. When in a battle with any of these builds, you are fighting off AI more than you are the actual player.

It’s not fun to fight against, and it’s not very fun to play (IMO) either.

And as stated above, its a poor choice for more hardcore sPvP matches as it is neither a bunker nor a decap centric build. Aka, it doesn’t hold points and it doesn’t cap points half or even 1/4th as well as other builds or other professions.

then why isnt phanta builds looked down on gs-x/p phantas full zerker while stealthed can jst kill u with phantas and no one complains about that. all AI and sitting in stealth. alot of mesmers damage can come from AI other then shatter/ glamour builds.

Phantasm builds are griped constantly about and complained about. Especially of the PU variety. (PU doesn’t automatically mean conditions) go into a hot join or dueling server with a classic 20/20/30/0/0 PU phantasm build with GS and Sw/T. Pretty soon everyone will be calling you out for playing cheesy PU

I’ve been thinking of a fresh air d/d burst build with 0/30/30/0/10 and stone heart. Using leeching/energy sigils

I didnt even get an option to get back in :’( after i got kicked he was sending me all these whispers like “wow you suck” and “get good, youre trash” to which i replied, “if im trash, and i killed you, what does that make you?” He blocked me soon after

This same thing has happened to me before. After running from a massive zerg in a dueling server j eventually go down because i had no cooldowns left. the owner of the GASM server calls me “complete trash” and calls me out to duel. I say ok and down him with 1 mug/HS/backstab combo in about 3 seconds. (He was playing ele, most likely full glass) from there a massive Zerg resses him and as im in the middle of shadowstep stomping i get blocked from the entire server for “trolling”

~150 extra condi dmg is nothing compared to almost 5 sec of burning or 13 stacks of confusion

One last thing. You could mix and match your gear to get a lot more survivability, while getting more, or equal dmg

For leveling try sword/pistol. Whenever you engage an enemy drop down the #5 just autoattack them to death. Use LoS and various teleports to do the same thing against ranged mobs. The #3 on Sw/p also stuns, and evades for the second part of the attack

What did this thief accomplish? Oh yeah, absolutely nothing other than waste 6+ people’s time

Firstly, there is a huge difference between the combat here and the combat in WoW and most other MMOs, so if by common RPGs you mean common MMOs, then no, I’m afraid your skills -won’t- transfer over. A few things of note:
The combat in this game is much more action-oriented- you can avoid attacks by strafing and dodging as you fight, and using skills to counter enemy attacks. It’s more important to avoid attacks than to heal them.
There is no healer/tank/DPS trinity. Everyone is responsible for their own survival, for DPSing the enemy, for coordinating support and control to make fights more manageable.
Your success in this game depends largely on your skill as a player, rather than your gear.

In addition, GW2 is highly unlike WoW in many other respects. The game’s meant to be more of a journey- you take your time and enjoy the process of leveling, explore to your heart’s content, and when you hit 80, there aren’t tiers of raids and gear to chase one after the other. You pretty much find what you enjoy doing and do it.
My and other players’ advice- don’t treat this game like WoW. Forget everything you know about MMOs and enjoy the journey.
