Go with 0/20/30/0/20 for Ham/GS. You’ll like it, trust me.
For unsuspecting foe? I already have 46% crit chance before fury and ive also got perception stacks on my hammer so i can get up to 76% crit chance which is plenty good for me
Elixir builds are great offensively, youll never have trouble against passive healing and defense. They can be really squishy at times or extremely tanky. It all depends on how you use the skills available to you
All the builds you guys are submitting involve the bomb kit. So is it safe to assume that bomb kit is our most useful utility in a zerg? If yes, is it better to spec for power bombs or condi bombs? Thanks again
Well bombs for frontline, yes. Mostly cus theyre the only real AoE . But you can be a squishy DPSer with nades in the back line to.
Id say power, just because of the absurd amount of condition removal flying around in zergs
Right, thats why im trying to get it high, so when the nerf hits itll be 65-75% which is the same as the present d/d build. And with the 6% buff to celestial ill get ~100 extra toughness and vitality (not to mention all the other stats) which means i could either keep it or i could use different food to get the crit dmg to 75-85%
As i said, i tried going for the new fire trait but i just couldn’t get the stats to work, i ended up with way to much power and not enough of everything else. If there was armor that had crit dmg without power i could’ve probably done it, but Anet dont wanna do that.
Lordbyron, maybe you should try something different if you die before you can use it? Maybe use it before your <25% health?
Which stats do you feel are lacking? I used ER to make up for the list condi cleanse which i think is more than enough on its own, but if i really need to i could trade mist form for cleansing fire. Evey single stat except boon duration is higher than the standard d/d build. The power looks really bad, but with the way eles can stack might, and the new runes of strength, getting up to 25 stacks of might is effortless. I tried to get high crit dmg because most people are saying theyll lose 20-30% of their crit dmg after the patch. This’ll put the crit dmg from this build to what the present d/d build was before ferocity
Right after i finally get my ele lvled to 80 anet decides to introduce ferocity/get rid of 2/2/2 boon duration runes. But i think i may have come up with something that is even better than the present ele.
Stats are very different than the standard d/d build . You may notice i have a lot more crit dmg and vitality, with a bit more healing power as well. However what takes a big hit is the boon duration. But there are some ways to get around this. For example, the new strength runes will make keeping 25 might effortless, and the new GM air trait will bring decent weakness uptime, which makes up for the loss of protection uptime. Sigil of leeching can somewhat make up for the lost sustain from evasive arcana.
Its also worth noting this build has a lot more dmg multipliers than the standard d/d build. (Especially if you use bolt to the heart). Im at first i tried doing this with the new GM fire trait, but i just couldn’t get the stats to work. Let me know how good you think this will be for ele post patch. I’ve still barely even used him for WvW.
Until we know how ferocity will be divided between trinkets and armor we won’t be able to say how much our hybrid builds will be affected.

Since Ferocity will assimilate the old +Crit Damage stats to all the other stats, you can exactly see how much Ferocity each item will give you.
For example, a Draconic Helmet will always give you +45 points of it’s primary stat and +32 points of both of it’s secondary stats.
So if Berserker’s Draconic Helmet gives you +45 Power, +32 Precision and +2% Crit Damage right now, it will give you +45 Power, +32 Precision and +32 Ferocity after the patch.

This is the part that I was referring too which also confuses me. If they are just converting the crit damage % into a Ferocity stat then trinkets would still give you a better bang for your buck in terms of crit DPS and clearly be the best to equip for a critical damage boost. It almost sounds like they will be modifying the amount of ferocity across all your gear.
Exactly. Thats the whole point of ferocity. Currently ascended trinkets, and shoulders/gloves/boots give you the most crit dmg per stat. If they change crit dmg into ferocity, a regular stat and not a %, then its normalized. Whereas a berserker helmet now gives 45 power power, 32 precision and 2 crit dmg and a berserker shoulder gives 32 power, 24 precision, and 2% crit dmg. Clearly if you want to mix and match changing the helmet to soldier would give much better bang for your buck then changing the shoulder since youre getting more stats for the same loss of crit dmg. Thats what theyre normalizing. Now itll just be like another set where there are more trade offs. There won’t be a most effective %crit dmg per stat slot anymore because itll be normalized to be the same amount as pices without crit dmg
Now I get it, thanks for clearing that up for me. So a berserker ring which has 8% crit damage will now have a 68 ferocity stat which is equal too a 4.5% crit damage. This is going to suck. It’s going to make it difficult (next to impossible) to get my nice tanky high burst mix.
edit: How come condition damage gets to be a primary stat on some gear but not ferocity?
They did say with crit dmg now being an actual stat and not a % it could very well introduce options for armor with ferocity as the main stat

Ascended Berserker with Force/Scholar (no infusions) and 30/25//15 with Fury and 10 Might: 9932.9
With Ferocity (manually calculated, had to estimate Scholar): 8953.92
Ascended Cavalier with Lyssa, rest Berserker with and //30/10/30 (no idea about traits) with Fury and 10 Might: 6479.86
With Ferocity (manually calculated): 5869.52
First build: 8953.92/9932.9: 9.9% less damage after patch.
Second build: 5869.52/6479.86: 9.4% less damage after patch.
At least with these parameters both builds get hurt equally.
Thats actually very interesting. Before the patch i wasnt running impact on my hammer, i was using perception. However with the changes to stacking sigils and now that 2handeds get 2 sigils i think ill run either impact/air or impact/leeching. Either way it seems my overall DPS will be higher than before the patch. Which is good
Im not trying to say omg necro OP Anet wtf nerf. Just necros are gonna be extremely painful to fight with perplexity and this trait. You guys still have no real defense or disengage so its ok. But 1v1s will blow

Adding some Celestial Trinkets are fine.
It does make a difference when two people are equally skilled, one just has min-maxed gear with every single stat point, and the other has close to min maxed gear. Why not be the guy with the skill and the great gear?
With fear now interrupting, and this trait necros are gonna be so scary to fight. Think how much health youd get back with 15+ stacks of confusion! Plus epidemic. Nerf to crit dmg then this. Rough couple months for solo roamers
There are seriously so many ways to escape. Depending on the build, but pretty much every build has blink and decoy. You can a) blink to higher ground, he will have to find a way up to get you and by that time you’re gone. If you can’t do that, blink out of a stun or any kind of CC if you’re under it, you can also use decoy to get out of CC and start running a direction, use mass invis and switch your direction, mesmers are slow and you really need to fool him so he is going further from you instead of after you. If you have mirror images, you can spawn them and shatter for distortion to give you a bit of time to blink or to run away ect.
Don’t know much about you, but am not sure you can blink to a higher ground.
But as for ways to escape, we do have a lot of ways, also depending on your build and skills you must have chosen. Simple example,
The new preview of sigil of intelligence was your next 3 attacks will automatically crit. If you use 2 of those (one on each swap) and change the build to 30/0/20/0/20 for cleansing ire then yes. Its one off the things i was going to experiment with myself
You keep banner of discipline on your bar, and banner of strength if you don’t need the slot for something else. FGJ, endure pain, and balanced stance are all good depending on the situation and you should swap them out accordingly.
Weapons are GS/axe+mace. You use axe #2 and mace #4 off CD then use 100b+whirlwind. Before you whirl completely past the mob swap weapons and autoattack with axe until 100b is back up

Anet would never completely redo a class. In the end, what does posting this accomplish? People will still QQ daily about stealth. Other people will still tell the QQers to l2p. What did writing this accomplish? Other than a few people saying “yeah, thieves are OP, this would be so great if Anet did this”
I’m not sure I fully understand. Isn’t the whole point of this patch an attempt to put Berserker builds in line with condition builds? If I’m understanding this correctly the change to Ferocity impacts full Berserker builds the least compared to semi-dps/tanky builds. If this change only makes Berserker builds even more mandatory doesn’t that go against the intended purpose?
Exactly. But Anet doesn’t get that. PVE still has the same problems its always had, skippable trash, poor mechanics for encounters, bad ai, and bosses with the only mechanic being massive health pools and 1 hit KOs. Until at least some of these changed zerker will be the top dog for PVE
