@Carpboy Dude, if you’re going to just ignore the thread and be insufferable you can go and be insufferable outside this thread. You don’t seem to be restrained by the thread’s content anyway, so I don’t think you’ll notice any change doing it elsewhere, thank you, bye.
@insanemaniac: That cleared up many things, actually. Well then, there’s no viable PvE tanky build because the game is botched at the core of its design, that’s actually quite funny, to be honest. And I can get behind that. I don’t have any problem with people telling me this is not viable, anyway, but I like understanding why things are that way.
Let’s talk WvW then, I don’t like zergs, and dungeons end up being quite boring anyway.
How should I go for a WvW tanky-support build, then?Is there any way to edit the topic title, by the way?
So you want one for solo/small man groups? Link in my signature
Technically it does cleave…just in a line
guys the threads gonna have to be 4+ pages before any reds think about reading it, lets get crackin
Youd need to build into condi dmg, but then your hammer and mace would hit like a wet noodle, so its a waste
Anything but zerker in PVE is horrible in PVE. Im sorry you don’t like that :/
None of this is worth it for pve
All is Vain [NoGF]
Orbs, scholar, or x2 altruism x4 lyssa if using medkit

Best roaming build for guard
Inb4 warr OP Anet nerf!!!!1
1. Well you precast focus 5 whilst using CoL/smite/scepter auto, then a split second before it explodes you swap and use JI followed by some sword autos and if they put a condition on you use smite condition since that also does a ton of dmg. At this point theyll either be downed or super low. If they try to heal knock them back with shield, if not wait until they do since thats the only real reason i use a shield, to interrupt heals. Use blinds/blocks as needed. Use scepter to kite or to set up a CoL->smite combo. Use sword to stick on people and for the awesome auto.
2. I dont use it nor reccomend it for a reason
Ah yes, because maths and EHP have such a relevance in PvP.
You can’t crunch PvP into a spreadsheet.
Sure, but you can crunch stats into a spreadsheet, and the stats on that build are mathematically better than any other. How does that not apply?
Oh and one more thing, for zergs, I assume one can’t just go melee in that case?
Jump right in with the melee train. Report back your findings
That looks pretty decent. However you have little to no actual defense

Yeah, celestial HGH nades is so beast in wvw

Mixing valk/zerker is bad and this thread proves it
Really? Mine just fell out of the sky waiting for me to loot it.
Ok i need to know something before i decide wither to bother with dungeons in this game or just forget about them completely and only play for another 5 days or so until ROS comes and we give up.
Will the rest of the dungeons be like this?
Dungeons in any MMO are the place to farm gear or tokens for gear and other useful stuff…
Is the problem from this dungeons or are all dungeons like this and it’s a L2P thingy.
Yes all the dungeons are like this. You need to l2p the game before you can succeed in the game :O shocker
You could almost argue that the Chaos line has more individually valuable traits than any other line…
See, that’s what I thought… so I’m not crazy.
@ Maxinion: Yeah, I guess I should’ve made specific reference to this thread right in this forum as the starting point for my question. The builds that are discussed there kinda got me wondering.
Those are all dungeon/fractal builds so of course there are 0 points in chaos
Play d/p yourself for at least a week. Just play conservatively and patiently
Caed is caed , he is extremly skilled and knows how to burst , most thieves will hide in stealth and won’t deal any damage. S/P low skillcap high reward , D/P high skillcap high reward. Which one you pick?
I’ve played my thief in tpvp exclusively with d/p trickery. Yeah its hard at first (mostly just to survive) but once you get the hang of it its not so bad
Pretty much all the good and most common WvW builds in here
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/I-m-moving-10-points-but-where
After march 18 both will proc. same with 2 on swap
That would be an awesome answer, if I was using proc on swap. What about proc on crit? Will both proc on crit, will only the main hand proc, or does main proc on 1-3 and offhand proc on 4 & 5?
On proc, be it swap or crit, all share the same cooldown. Thats the bug. So if i have blood in main hand and leeching in offhand, only blood will ever go off. You effectively don’t even have a sigil in your offhand
Thieves use d/p, s/p, and s/d trickery in spvp. I should know, thief is my second main. Look up caed on twitch. Best thief NA using a d/p trickery build
If we’re only looking at the stats , cavalier may look better but without lyssa and food the cit chance is probably below 35 . considering most thieves use a D/P trickery build which is based on stealing boons , you will not have any fury while fighting them , so having crit DMG without critting is useless.
Also the survability in my build is higher because of endurance return on burst skills. I’m pretty sure a dodge worth more than an extra 100 armor.
Why are you taking runes and food off of my build, but not yours? Lets face it, who doesn’t use food in WvW? Youve also conveniently forgotten the sigil stacks in mine, whereas yours has full stacks, and bl bloodlust. Mine just has food, and if you feel like stacking it, a sigil
Its also not 100 armor more. Its 350 more
D/p trickery is build for spvp, not WvW. Most thieves in WvW use SA. And even if someone does steal your fury, you still have 46% crit chance, 58% with stacks
Crapboy
………twice in the same kittening thread
Basically, an engi with rocket boots, magnet, shield, and fall dmg trait. Endless trolling/fun
Umm, at 9:12 you’re fighting a warrior and he goes into mist form? what? I played very little warrior but I can’t remember anything that lets them do that o.O
Vampirism runes. Theyre pretty sucky tbh
Its called a healing skill :/ withdraw. And it only cures cripple/immob/chill. He prolly wasted his elite to clear those other condis
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/HGH-might-stacking-power-vs-condi
There have been lots of people asking about HGH lately. I think ive linked that thread like 5 times now lol
You probably want a mix of soldier/zerker gear. It won’t be optimal for PVE, but itll be close enough that its fine. Awesome for roaming/spvp, and good for zergs provided you have good positioning
crap boy
……
Why try and get those stats when you could get these, with absolutely 0 buffs or expensive foods?
Well im not a fan of fractal, fused, or tormented. Especially tormented
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUAQRArd8elUgSDHHyNEf4Eh1DAeQ/VVIeXPgYEbIA-jUCBYfDim+IwEIRM1UQM3UZtYqIas6aYKXAqYLqWGA9xA-w
Change the food to omnom berry ghosts and youve got extremely high sustain, really great dmg, tons of blinds, blocks, and dodges for defense, and soft CC through hydromancy sigils for chasing/sticking on people, and teleports with sword and JI to either get away or chase.
(Dont use hydromancy/energy until the March 18th patch. 2 on swap sigils are bugged in that one will put the other on CD, without getting the benefit of the second. Just use energy/accuracy for now. Should give you plenty of time to get the gear anyway)
Well its really hard to give advice with no idea what your armor or dyes look like
Its easy. If you have all the money in the world, twilight. Every other warrior has it, so must be OP
People dont often realize daggerstorm reflects. It pretty much entirely shuts down engis
Depends on what the engie is running. Grenades will still hit if thrown at your feet. Bombs are much easier to hit. Elixir gun 3 and 4 will still hit you.
Fight a SD engi with it. Fights end really quick
People dont often realize daggerstorm reflects. It pretty much entirely shuts down engis, rangers, p/d thieves, and bow warriors. Its also extremely helpful against certain mesmers as well. In addition, its our only access to stability outside of lyssa or boonstealing. And its on half the cooldown of TG. Its a clear choice for me.
Roll thief.
guys whats the survivability of SD burst engineer? in roaming and zerg
Very squishy. Every dodge/block counts. Mine is quite a bit less squishy than others tho. It can actually take a backstab
My SD build. Blocks 4 days. Energy sigil is also near the same thing as vigor.
Mines a bit leads squishy as well, 2500 armor
Im gonna get hated for this but basically
1. A brain
After playing around moving the 10 points different places I ended up going 30/0/0/30/10 Looking at the poison uptime numbers I can still keep it up IF all of poison volly hits and static shot is still good at 15 second recharge.
I picked up backpack regenerator which I was’t running so my alchemy is invigorating speed, PI, and backpack regenerator.
So far I like it.
Something you may have overlooked. The 30/10/20/10/0 build i recommended earlier has the heal also reset at 25% which is so awesome with HT. seriously its cray cray. You also get perma vigor instead if just 50% uptime. EG is basically rocket boots, just better. Acid bomb+a 180 turn is rocket boots, plus decent bleed/weakness spam on the auto, a heal field, and fumigate is a lot more poison uptime
So these kids in weights today at my school were playing a song called “let me take some protein” with the exact same beat and tempo to “let me take a selfish”, just with a guy saying it. I loled so kittening hard!
Check out this site, which has updated guides for dungeons and meta builds for all professions. http://gw2dungeons.net/.
The current mesmer build you’ll see is 10/30/0/20/10 with sw/sw-sw/f (or pistol if reflects aren’t needed).
10/30/0/20/10
OR
0/30/0/25/15
OR (low/no reflect instances)
30/30/0/0/10
sw/sw + sw/f
can swap out sw/f for sw/p for no reflect fights but … not a massive deal if you don’t.
berserker gear + scholar runes unless soloing or in a pug where you don’t feel you can rely on them for fury, in which case full assassin + scholar is good.
skills you always swap out depending on the situation. for example, feedback is godly for lupicus but terrible on the crystalline entities in arah.
Sigils, you’ll want either force/night, force/accuracy, force/slaying, night/slaying. Force/accuracy is probably the best catch-all since mesmers are pretty low on precision and it’s crucial that you hit higher crit chances.
GS isn’t used because it deals about half the DPS of main hand sword, has zero utility and a phantasm that is completely outclassed by swordsman in terms of DPS, and warden in terms of utility.
