You can interrupt shelter during the start up animation. It does happen enough to be annoying. I’ve recently swapped to trap heal with trapper runes to help with my sustain.
Dragonhunter can be shut down easily. Seriously, an auramancer is cancer and even a Scrapper with that hammer getting reflects about as fast as we get trueshot.
DH doesn’t do enough burst to kill these tanky classes in teamfights before dying ourselves. Now I’m not saying DH is an awful spec, because it is very nice imo. The problem is that it can be made to feel tiny against the current sustain meta we are seeing.
Also that condi rev is scary..
Me and my buddies pulled 6 summons in 1 map and won without losing our first set of guards.
mitigation > healing.
as soon as enemy team finds out you aren’t running shelter, you’ll get targeted and dropped faster than a necro.
Eh, from what I’ve seen, guards not running shelter do just fine. The healing trap saw plenty of action in the pro league.
Honestly, I don’t see why we can’t see our own MMR. Just make it that you can’t see other people MMR if you worry about bad behavior. What’s the concern on now showing MMR in PvP panel?
Im guessing without the 10’s of thousands of concurrent players, the mmr’s might look really silly with who is matching with who, so it’s best to keep it hidden to save face.
I have all the data now. You played everyone one of those games in a 3-man party, which will bump up your effective MMR for matchmaking. Prior to that day you played solo or duo mostly. The performance of your team must not be as good as the MMR bump is trying to account for in premades, so your MMR is adjusting downward to accommodate.
All this mmr talk! Just let us know our mmr
Or just tell me if my mmr is higher than my normal queue buddies
These are professional players competing for a $200,000 prize pool, and they’ve already had a full month to play with the new specs in casual games. When you’re on a pro team competing in a major tournament, you play what you think is going to give you the best chance of winning, not what you happen to feel like that day. That can even mean switching off of your preferred
Unless you are Crysis. Then yolo. #BestNPCKillerNA
I want anyone on here calling True Shot OP to try and go kill an auramancer. Tell me how that goes. We are practically getting erased in a 2v2 when an auramancer is present. And with their perma 40% protection and high stability up time, they just dance over our traps.
We already had bad match ups but this is ridiculous. I did 800k damage and felt completely useless as I just keep shooting in vain to a team of double auramancers. The spike is not high enough to burst down tanky classes. So we get big sexy numbers, without the spike to kill real bruisers or bunkers.
Just look at the Pro league yesterday or try DH in a high mmr queue to see its HUGE short comings.
True shot hits bunker classes with protection for around 3k and under. Plus the kneel and root is a big drawback. It’s really not as powerful as you think. But it is definately good.
You know 3k on a bunker class with protection on a 4s cd is quite strong. If the bunker gets hit for 3k by a single ability, then the cleave could down him. Still, dodging exists in the game for a reason.
3k hit from our hardest attack while running a max dps build is not really that much. Then watch as that scrapper slaps you down.
Yea I understand all of the new elite specs are just better than their core specializations. I just think 3k on a RANGED ability might be too strong, especially after they (hopefully) tone down elite specs.
That’s a crit mind you

Do a test to simulate the worst case scenario. Then doest record or stream it. I believe this totallyyyyy

Will we ever see that mmr? Games like dota share that bad boy freely. Maybe gw2 can start)
30 second merciful intervention untraited would be nice. Though for the healing it does, 25 would be ideal.
I doubt they will do it, so druid can have their superior heals.
All you have to do is watch the Pro league qualifiers with Radioactive’s Crysis to see what the state of warriors is.
low mmr
I really don’t think enough people take pvp in this game seriously enough for “mmr” to actually be a thing.
Eh it kind of is. My buddy and I are constantly queued with Apex, radioactive and abjured players, along with a lot of really good players.
Then if we queue with some of our friends who are fairly new to pvp, there is a noticeable drop in player skill.
I think people are confusing PVP feedback for PVE.
All the complaints are about pvp.
Warriors do excellent damage and bring great utility. Which is all you need in PVE. Where warriors run into problems in PVP, is trying to stay alive long enough to use all that dps. This is a non issue in PVE where the dodge button and whirl wind are enough to keep you up.
If you really want a combo, Take Hammer, Longbow, Test of Faith, and Wrath of Justice.
Start in Hammer
Drop ToF
Let them walk out
Spear them and pull them back through
Banish them while immobilized from WoJ
Immediately swap to LB and True ShotIf you land that you deserve the 12-18k+ damage.
Every DH tries to pull you into that. Decent pvpers already are waiting to dodge that apear. I bet this would work wonders in low mmr.
I think a team shouldn’t be fighting the clock but instead the content.
The clock is the content.
They should just add a meteor falling from the sky and you must kill the boss before the meteor hits. It’ll make bads feel better about it, since it’s now part of the story.
Traps → long bow knock back to push them through your test of Faith → spear and pull back through faith if dodge then true shot else once they get pulled then give then the true shot.
You can use traps with your bow to force your opponent to approach. Few class will out dps that bow, so let them have it and force them to come at you while you have traps sitting.
I use my sword when they force me to. Like reflects or if I want to use some utility on it.
If it’s a skill thing. I assume they are trying a new class or build. If they are making poor rotations and have crappy spacial awareness then I begin judging.
The real problem is your guild is full of cowards. I’d just come out and say “us 10 will be raiding together, we don’t find the rest of you good enough to join our raids, please continue to dump your mats into the guuld hall”.
That may also be why I’m part of a small guild of people who are actually friends(not irl friends but people cool enough to tell me if I suck or am playing sub par)
God combo that if 1 dodge is done then 2 of the 3 traps become useless. At leaSt test of Faith can be used to pull someone through it. I’m tired of these QQ threads disguised to seem less qq’ey
I’m seeing more 1 druid tank/heal with 9 dps
HoT has introduced so much damage and control that the tradional staple of pvp,.the bunker guard is dead. Guardians are best as raw damage now. If you want to be a bruiser you have to go reaper, scrapper ele or rev.
Tbh, if you want to be a yolo queue master, just go reaper. Necros main weakness was cc, but now they output chill in mass amounts and have perms stability in reaper.
You should have ascended accessories and weapon, armor doesn’t really matter.
Vale guardian is doable in exotics, Gorsveal’s requirement is much higher.
Good answer
How about you can queue outside of HotM if you have over 300 games played to ensure you aren’t a new player being confused about different armor for pvp and pve.
With all the engineer Waterfield blasting. I think asterial form on zerker is enough to do supplemental healing outside of Waterfield blasting.
But this is like an optimal group setting. Maybe haver both so you can swap based on that particular parties needs.
Engie is being taken in the highest amount right now in raids. What is dis post about.
Can we add an option for people doing things on purpose to make their team lose. Like having a dance party at various parts of the map. Running around literally not attacking. And any other stupid stuff that may occur?
Especially with the new Ranked system coming out.
“Report for Griefing”
Make worth 100 points. Spawn it twice. And have it drain your hp.
HP draining might be too much. But the 100pts/twice a match approach is needed. Right now you can win matches just be running the orb even if the enemy has 2 points all along.
Ok remove the hp degeneration and force the ball to only be captured at Raven.
Unfortunately, that’s the sad reality if you’re trying to LFG/PUG raids. The community is doing what it’s always done and trying to take the easy route. By that I mean there’s already a loose idea for an ideal composition against the Guardian that non-organized groups are trying to put together: Thief didn’t make the cut.
In that case you have three options:
-Continue pugging and hope that there’s a group that’s not abiding by that loose composition.
-Continue pugging and roll a character that’s being asked for
-Discontinue pugging and find an organized group that’s willing to work with your class.I will admit that any class can be viable against the boss fight, and I’d much rather have a player that’s proficient is a “sub-optimal” class vs trying to force said player into an “ideal” class that he has no idea how to play.
What about a bad player in a sub optimal class?
When Puggin you really don’t know how good someone is. However two things you can verify is their gear and build to at least know if they have 2 of the 3 boxes checked.
Class check
Build check
Skill unknown therefore can’t be considered

I was going to go knights armor and zerker everything else. Then have my buddy on a Zealot Druid. That plus all the water fields from Engies should be enough assuming you use all your defensive skills and dodges well. IE VoC ×2 Focus mace block etc
You need ascended trinkets and weapons. The armor is the smallest gain so you can skimp on that for now.
As far as soldiers, I can’t imagine that is the optimal choice for tanking.
(edited by Cat Has Ducks.1982)
Should be percent based off the total match time missed. Like 20% or something.

My intentions are to buy HoT at some point but I wanted to see how this played out. I purchased with real $$$$ GW2.0 (x3) almost 3 years ago so I am not a freeloader. I mostly play WvW and PvP so new content for PvE does not interest me. Apparently WvW is dead and PvP is useless without these new builds? Why do I feel like I am being held hostage for $50?? Is this the future of F2P?
I agree with you man.
When ranger will be good I’ ll buy Hot…
Untill then no. So let’ s wait man
Druid is bad? Am I in a parallel universe?
Mmmmm, this wasn’t a balance patch, so there’s still time for them to bring down the nerf hammer.
This. The nerf bat will come after HOT sales calms down.
Shatter mesmers are still fine, D/P thieves can still do a bunch of damage, bunker guardians are still a thing without DH.
I cry evrytiem I see a bunker guard now….
The only reason it’s called OP is the low mmr sees noobs able to place traps and get a bunch of kills because other noobs like to zig zag in and out of traps.
DH is definately strong, I just wish it wasn’t so easy to appear to be mildy good when using DH. Anyone can place traps and get some kills as opposed to scrapper which takes time to learn how regen combos works to maximize your sustain(unless you go condi then just spam them pistols)
DD ele still works. Soldier engie rifle still works. And warrior was proven OP by Crysis yesterday. So you got that.
They will bring the elite specs down from the heavens after the holiday season when everyone is done buying the expansion. Got to keep your player base feeling like they have to buy it.
Extremely high crit builds can work if you know your constantly going to be running with a ranger or warrior for their +crit & fury buffs.
This is more true then ever now that many objects & world bosses can be critically hit.
All that being said these builds generally use 1 handed weapons to make full use of radiance.
Looking at your build it does have high critical chance but almost no sustain.
If you really want to use a high crit build I would suggest http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vVAQJApfnsABVDhVdCedC8DhF/h6Kc9Byh/43+WBg6E-TBSBABFqH4hTAQEKBvR9nyU+R0+DIYCCgHAAA-e
Mace is chosen over sword due to more sustain, more AOE and the fact the auto misses much much much less often.
If you want even more sustain you can use shield instead of torch.
As far as traits go, Radiant fire will have more burst while retribution has more sustain (if your group can maintain it).
Depending if u use a shield or not any of the valor mid traits is nice.Lastly remember you need a banner warrior or ranger with spotter and fury uptimeto make full use of the build but having 100% crit chance has some serious advantages.
Sustain doesn’t play much a part for mace over sword. Mace is taken because it craps all over the sword in PvE for damage.
This is different in PvP since players don’t just sit in symbols. The sword shines with its gap closing abilities and projectile negation. Just need to fix that third auto attack.
Tldr; thief is garbage for raids
I used to swear by the Auramancer build. I charged onto points, shooing off the Thief, captured it, and defended it like a boss against 3 enemies. I felt unstoppable…two or three of us together could take on the entire enemy team!
But then I realized…
…pure damage stacks.
Damage stacks a lot harder than heals, natural damage reduction, and boons. I didn’t quite believe my realization for a while, until I encountered a match where my fellow Auramancer and I got wrecked repeatedly by two Reapers + a Herald. Even though we were outnumbered – we were supposed to be Bunkers! We were supposed to be unstoppable!
So now I play a Herald. Auramancer has insane damage reduction, but one needs complete damage negation to Bunker properly.
That’s why 1 good auramancer with a compliment of damage is where they shine. Not soloing a bunker node.
Dank warrior play TBH,
Actually, by seeing them go into stealth, you are being made aware that a burst is likely incoming.
Great thieves doing the the ol, look at me go stealth move.
I’d like to watch this. I enjoyed that one weekend where you opened up the weekly to pro players to see how Stronghold works. Was enjoyable to watch.
I haven’t had too much trouble with DH while playing my scrapper. It’s probably because I actually know everything a DH can do, so I can do counter play. Plus putting condi and reflecting all their true shots is funny.
Just wait for ranked to come back so you can set the stock model option back on.
