The way I see it. Is you would be choosing an unreliable dps modifier over a team dps increase. Each vulnerability stack, is 1 extra percent of damage to the enemy. So while the amount you apply might seem trivial, it does Indeed add up. Also you gain extra 50 power on top of that.

Then factor in your perma vigor until they change it. With the hammer’s long AA chains, you generally gain endurance so much, that modifier would be quite underwhelming.

Sadly, I don’t pug Guards in higher levels of fractals. I most welcome thief (for the skip and stealth) and then war, since they can carry themselves.

You might have an arguement for ac. But arah sellers tend to not repeat the paths that often in a single day. There is a minor time difference in dungeon completion when using certain exploits. In fact the underwater skip in arah path 2 and the lupi skip take longer than actually doing it legit. :/

I think people’s main concerns are coral skipping p4. Which I heard was still doable in a slightly more bothersome way. I haven’t been keeping up with anything, so I don’t know.

That describes me exactly. I log on. Look at friends list. No ones on. Look at fractals. No good groups. Look at Arah. No good groups. Log off and go do something else. This game seems to be slowly fading away from me.

Tons of mobs use AoE. People use the skills given them to mitigate.

Hammer is used in Fractal for the perma protection. Not because of the DPS. Its no slouch in the damage department, but its main purpose is to make your team way more durable.

For open world it really doesn’t matter. But for dungeons zerker becomes more optimal, so your teammates don’t have to carry a buff bot around the dungeon.(Considering you are bringing banner and not a shout warrior…)

Drop your guard even for a second, and you’re downed. That’s how low your hit points are, some bosses will kill you even when they strike through aegis(multiple hits instantly); getting downed, though, makes you and your party lose DPS, and it’s also inferior to soldier’s/cleric’s gear on world bosses(as you can’t crit them)…

Fractal weapons are ugly anyway. Best weapon skins are available only in Gemstore, same with armor.
Wouldnt be too surprised if they were selling Asceded Armor in gem store.

There is one nice fractal weapon I’d liket to have. But I know I’ll never get the RNG for it.

Out of curiosity, are skills that group mobs together discouraged as well? Or only terrain tactics are discouraged for grouping mobs?

And best part is, since they are against skipping. They will have to fight their way to the bomb door(if they get that variant), and try to kill all the mobs each bomb pass. Oh that would be fun to watch lol.

I have a knights set of armor that I use to do specific strategies for a few things there as well but that would require a coordinated group.

Really does…. I try to get PUGs to listen to me, but they are often set in their ways on certain encounters. Also I tend to not rule with an iron fist like I do in Arah.

I’d like to see their testers do Dredge lvl 49 without a thief. That would be fun to watch.

It’s this arrogance that turns people off with full zerker. You don’t do anything but discourage those who die often when switching to zerker gear. Instead of encouraging people to fight through growing pains, you falsely assert that zerker guard is EZ mode. Having 11k hp, means you have to know how to play your class well. In High fractals or even arah, you can be dropped in a blink of an eye from certain mobs if you are too slow to an aegis or blind. It is definitely easier than say Ele, but still not “easy”.

Indeed. It went from zerker/assassin mix. To now just zerker. Way to go Anet! Thanks for reminding us that zerker is the only way to go. We were fooled into thinking we were clever for coming up with an optimal gear of mixing. Turns out, full zerker was the answer.

I have to fight the temptation to browse the forums during most boss fights because the experience is just…. that… bad. And that’s just not fun. It’s efficient, but that efficiency comes at the cost of wanting to bash one’s face in with a textbook just to feel something.

Get out of the care bear dungeons. Venture into Arah. Feel some Lupicus melee action. Do that, and tell me you can afk it. I went 3 weeks once, without running any dungeon but arah paths. That’s how much I love that dungeon.

Yup. Zerker will still be best. Now the people who made zerker/assassin armor mix should be asking for a change to full zerker. Now they have a real gripe.

This is a common theme for people new to dungeons. Once you run them hundreds of times, you will quickly see why we stack/skip. But some skips are fun, like the Arah runs. And some bosses are actually fun, like ol’ Lupi <3

I agree. If you remove the champ fight, take away the dredge resistance to blind, and make reflecting stronger versus them. Then it we won’t feel so awful having to kill things normally in there.

Perfect fix if you plan on pugging. Just be on bath salts before you play it, so it won’t hurt as much.

This… They are taking away an important part of our survival in PvP with no compensation. Our health pool should be bumped up to mid tier. That’d be a start.

@Escadin The truth is you can play how you want. Make your own groups accepting all builds and classes. You will complete any content in this game. It may be painfully slow. But you can definitely play how you want. Just make your own parties or join a “play how I want guild” and you good to go.

People who can’t avoid damage while bringing zerker gear will still be kicked from groups I expect.

As stated earlier. Expect people to be more strict on wearing zerker. Since damage across the board will nerfed, now you need everyone in zerker to kill stuff quick. Where as before you were ok with Knight’s gear for beginners.

From an outside observer. I think this would be the best. Check what they put down as dungeons they are comfortable teaching. Then verbally ask them random encounters throughout the dungeon and see how they respond to it.

Like what would you tell your guardian, your ele and your warrior teammates to do against X boss or champ.

Then the teacher would say, Guardian should bring WoR, SoA, and whatever. He should pop wall right at the beginning blah blah. The ele should: blah blah.

These types of questions would allow you to see how well they know the dungeons. Just a suggestion from an outside observer. I’d like to be a mentor, but no one got time for that.

The good news is these parties usually suck. You should avoid them anyway.

Agreed. I never join them. If you run the zerker meta, and are actively trying to get better, then you will be just fine. Once you learn a dungeon well, then you move on to more specific groups looking for experienced/zerker/whatever. Ignore the fools using AP to weed out party members.

I agree, but I still generally stand by being a little prejudiced against players with less than 1k, unless it’s an alt account, because I’m just not convinced that at that point they have the handle of the game that a speed run requires. There are always exceptions, but I guess I’m always a little wary of those <1k AP. ^^

I started farming Arah ~700 AP. By 900 I ran it a ton of times. So whenever I see low AP person join. I do gear check. If they have zerker gear, with the proper weapons and they had a meta build. Then I trust they know what they are doing. If not, das boot!

Just going to echo the hell no! If anything bring a dps PvE build to WvW. Since who really cares about WvW. But in dungeons and fractals you are 1/5 of the team. Don’t drag them down by bringing crap gear in there.

I skimmed your last post. But just get armor with offensive stats. Your team utility comes from your traits and skills. Don’t warrior about Toughness/Vitality/Condi Damage/Healking power. Just go Power/Prec/Crit. For leveling, its pretty much Power and Prec.

If they all do about the same damage, you kill the boss in 1/5th of the time (in fact, less than that, because everyone benefits from each other’s buffs). Maybe you’re just really unlucky and keep getting PUGs made up of four naked level 2 players who don’t move…?

That must be some really slow communication, if decreasing the damage output of the party by 80% results in an increase in speed.

Don’t forget pugs dying several times on Arah skips, or them doing something dumb to cause a wipe. Or them stepping on a body while you trying to skip.
