I got used to a FWA build with strength runes. I don’t mind being slow until I run with people who are running with traveler’s (Everyone, to be honest), but I get some interesting fights in the back of a group. I put a much greater focus on condition damage for burns on my build; for example, if someone pressures me when I have a fire aura up, they take a good chunk from burns. However, I chose Burning Precision and Blinding Ashes, which I’ve recieved complaints about how it messed up a burst after a duel, but I think I’d much rather use the cleansing fire trait so that I can afford to run mist form or signet of air on my utility bar in the future.

If you want a ‘MASSIVE" nerf to conditions, ask for the +/- condi duration foods to be reduced. If you face a condition build with only one cleanse, you are going to have problems with conditions. That’s really all I can say to you.

Well, if you run it with the axe trait, it will pop every time you enter death shroud. Of course, that’s not actually making it good. It is pretty terrible in comparison to the other two Spite grandmasters, but we can’t even get them to fix Dhuumfire and Master of Corruption, two traits that potentially make the skills they affect worse.

Staff is like a pair of one size fits all pants that cannot be depended on to make you look good. It is utility that can be used on any spec, but it is not the staple on any of those specs.

Necro vs Mesmer has always been bad for Necro. We’re not particularly well equipped enough to pressure them into blowing all of their stealth (Each one is really long and they have up to 4 stealths), and a good number of them can interrupt us long enough for them to kill us. Think of power mesmer like a thief that doesn’t need to be close and against condi mesmer, you can literally walk away and they’re helpless.

Honestly the trait punishes you twice for giving only one benefit.

That depends on your perspective. Me, I look at Master of Corruption and I see two benefits with no downside. Benefit 1, it reduces the cooldown of my corruption abilities. Benefit 2, it causes my corruption abilities to give me more conditions, so I get ammo more quickly. Plague Signet, Deathly Swarm, Putrid Mark, Spiteful Renewal, we’ve got all sortsa unseemly uses for contagion.

I would trade all the self condis that I can to transfer for condis that I can apply to the foe without applying it to myself so that I can save my transfers for defense from something dangerous like immobilize.

Blinding Ashes needs a per target ICD. I wouldn’t say it needs a nerf because the only ways to proc it outside fire is to rely on a 33% chance of a % chance that is on a 5 sec ICD or utilities.
Shocking Aura only stuns at melee range, so a ranger can still happily pewpew through it, and the ele really loses out if the opponent ignores the ele while shocking aura is up and heals. I would say this trait is fine for now.

Neither of these are true.

You can take Burning precision and proc it in all attunements. Or stuff like Runes of the Balthazar.

Shocking aura procs in the radius of 600 units, which is a bit further than melee range I would say. And apparently it procs on some ranged attacks, too. I haven’t tested that, though. Imo, the cooldown should be just increased a bit, 25 seconds is quite too low. Mirror of Anguish has 60 to compare.

I mentioned Burning Precision, and Balthazar Runes only proc burn on heal.

Tempest Defense has the cd of shocking aura. 600 is a bit farther than melee range, yes, but it is not really ranged either. The uptime of Shocking Aura with this trait is only high with mainhand dagger. Also, if you want to stun the ranger that just knocked you out of range, you still have to close the gap, and you do not break stun with this trait. The difference between this trait and Mirror of Anguish is that Mirror of Anguish is that the foe is taking their own stun no matter where they are, however this trait is still one of the stronger anti cc traits, but it is not as strong as hard to catch, which is a guaranteed stunbreak on a similar cooldown.

Don’t ask for nerfs. You will get them. Also, read before saying something is wrong…

35% Crit Chance
This is without full ascended, but it would only be a small bit higher with full ascended.
You need to add a few things and use food buffs to do well in WvW. Also, condis are WAY stronger because of the 40% condi duration food

  1. Burning: completely remove burning from Engineers, Necros and Mesmers. Make it an exclusive damaging condition for Eles and Guardians. As long as Necros, Engis and Mesmers can put out almost ALL the damaging conditions on top of burning, while Eles and Guardians have nothing else besides burning (you can’t really stack bleeding as an ele and if you try to you can’t stack burning, both in the same build/ at the same time aren’t possible). As long as this doesn’t change burning can never be balanced. It will either be OP for engi/mesmer/necro and a viable choice for condition builds for Ele/Guard like it is now, or it will be balanced for engi/mes/nec while underpowered for us like it was before the big patch.

Actually, Dhuumfire on Necromancer is so unviable that traiting it reduces our damage, survivability, AND the range of life blast. There is no reason that a necromancer should be using Dhuumfire right now because it costs more than it gives. Dhuumfire is arguably Necromancer’s worst grandmaster.
On the discussion of the OP, Diamond Skin is a terrible, terrible trait. It is completely irrelevant in most group fights and against power builds, but 1v1, it is so disgustingly good against condition builds that you will be called many foul things like kitten if you use it. It needs to be changed
Stone Heart has some nice bunkering potential, but overall, I’d say it is fine because it requires you to sit in earth.

Novice of Corruption is Bad

This trait is outstandingly awful. A master of Corruption would not be more vulnerable to corruption skills, but a novice would. Every heard of that master that cut himself with his own sword? No. You hear about novices that inflict more injury onto themselves than normal. What makes this trait worse is the fact that it is next two two really good traits, one of them even having corruption in its name! In a perfect world, Master of Corruption would be erased from existence, Consume Conditions would not be a corruption anymore and have a 25 second cd again, and Plague would be a Well. However, if this trait must stay, it should be merged with Path of Corruption, have foolish novice penalty removed, and be moved to the grandmaster tier.

On a less serious note, why is it that Necromancers, the king of dying, have death magic as their survivability line? What ever happened to the saying that spiteful old people live the longest? Wouldn’t that make more sense? (I’m seriously joking)

Reaper does not exist yet, so it is foul play to factor it in to current balance imo. In this aspect, I swear, the Necromancer sometimes feels like the most self defeating thread. It feels like there are those of us who simply don’t want Necromancer to be good. Dhuumfire, as it is, is terrible. Even if it was moved to Soul Reaping Adept tier, there is still a chance people would not use it. Even the ele burn on crit trait that procs like Sigil of Air on a longer icd is more viable than this. This trait is like Master of Corruption, but instead of making our corruption skills worse, it makes our Condi dps worse whenever we use it. Honestly, they could split the RS and DS effect when the time comes and make the DS 1 feel as dangerous as it does on power builds by giving it something extreme like several stacks of burn.

Diamond Skin hard counters condi necro. I’m surprised you didn’t realize he was using it at first. Most condi users I know don’t respect anybody using Diamond Skin 1v1 because it makes the fight a total faceroll.

I knew this was how it was gonna be… CC nerf made us an easier target and any buff we received is ineffective because everything else is still two steps ahead of us. Power builds can’t handle being focused, condi builds bring little to a team fight, and mm builds can’t handle AoE. Nothing changed for the better. I’m ready for a Necromancer CDI

If you don’t count “Reflect Necro” as a condition user this is fairly accurate if you directly compare it to condition builds from the other professions. For instance Engineer : 1/5th the ramp up, up to 6 times the damage. Yep, it is totally fair.

I dont care that other profession can dish out Condis faster and say more burns then a Necro, master of Conditions dosent meen fastest way to 25+ Bleeds aso… it meens Mastering/Controlling Conditions back and forth…. “reflect” is a bad choice since we are actually the only class ingame that lacks just that type of skill.

However Corrupting and Controlling, sending conditions back that were originally put on you by the enemy that is Master of Conditions and necro still dominate that part of the game. Yesterday a Ranger useing Gladomers build got killed by me useing only Signet of Plague and the trait Plague Sending, now tell me then how it mattered if he sent more Condis to me faster ? In PvE it may still be bad but imho its not worse then before.

Borrowing someone else’s conditions does not mean you have a viable condition build. You can run the counter condi build in full zerker and still counter other condi builds. Running a counter build in wvw is a joke because it leaves you unprepared for any situation that you do not counter an opponent. In PvP, beating a condi build that is weak to condis is still done better by another condi build that also pressures non condi builds, even if it is more difficult. In PvE, there’s literally no point in transfers when having your own dps is so much better.
By itself, a condition necromancer throws out a mediocre amount of bleeds and poison. By itself, a condi ranger/engi throws out a very large amount of bleeds/burns/poison. Part of viability is opportunity cost, and when other classes do your job better, there is no reason for anybody to take you.
So I could just say, “there is absolutely no truth whatsoever in this comment,” but it is your opinion. If you deny that necromancer is weak as a condi class, we will not get help, and we may even get nerfed when the other powerful condi builds get nerfed, taking our only niche and making us worse at what we’re already bad at.

When I saw Consume Conditions post-patch, I immediately said, aloud, “What is this garbage?”

ANet, you can’t put an idiotic caveat like that on a skill that’s meant to get us out of trouble. That was essentially our ONLY burst heal and now we are at a severe disadvantage to other professions capable of the same without crippling themselves.

We complained for a week. They are determined to make us unviable.

I’ve been playing around with a FWA D/D hybrid spec, and I decided to try Stop, Drop, and Roll. It works wonders, allowing me to negate powerful burns and chills that would opthewise kill and ele. I’m starting to think it is better for general usage than the Frost Aura trait. What are your thoughts? This is in WvW, btw

We also have four damaging conditions without burning, while Eles have two, with burning.

Scratch that, come Reaper release, we will have five damaging conditions.

Burning is better than our four conditions when it can be applied in good amounts and the user can do more than slowly die from lack of real defense. Plus, if the ele puts on a sigil of Doom, then the most important aspect of poison is covered for them.

And we can add confusion through perplexity runes, see how that works? You do not ‘balance’ by assuming one class plays with a handicap and one does not, presumably if any Ele and Necro face each other, they will both have appropriate runes for their build, whatever those may be.

And no, burning has never been better. I started this game and played for nearly the first two solid years on a condition elementalist before finally trying out a condition necro. The advantage in condition damage the necro has, even without burning, is not even comparable to the pitiful condition damage of an elementalist.

You missed the point. Ele can run perplexity too, so that is a moot point. In the upcoming meta, high damage burns are superior to slow bleeds, and condi ele is getting buffed. It has already been shown by the people testing the changes that full condi necro is going to be extremely underwhelming. Burning Precision is way better for a condi spec than dhuumfire, which doesn’t even justify itself over scepter auto.

Realistically the only bad parts of the patch were Corruption related. Everything else was arguably fine, some great maybe a little bit mediocre here and there, but if we could ignore everything related to corruptions we’d have a very different opinion.

The problem is Consume Conditions got wrapped up in that, as did Plague.

I would say that the Curses line and the Master tier of Soul Reaping really hurt Condi necros because of how poorly they were layed out.

To Consume Conditions, they could add a condition to it if they want to keep the “theme”, but not hard as they implemented, something like 3 stacks of vulnerability would make more sense, or other condition. If they already nerfed increasing the cooldown, why apply so many stacks?

Probably because they want to see Necros use other heals. The problem is that none of the other heals are worth slotting (not even the upcoming shout).

Prayer to Dwayna is the new best heal Necros have access to…

You have several weeks to decide if you want to pre purchase, all still playing veteran players are going to consider taking advantage of this, $50 is not too expensive for an expansion when you consider that this game does not charge fees to play, and it is not sensible to call the amount of content being added “thin.” You don’t have to pay extra to get the included character slot anymore, so I’d say the $50 asking price is reasonable. Honestly, it’ll probably entertain the average player for more hours than most games that currently sell for $50 new.
I don’t think there is any justice in continuing to rage over this when anet has made a reasonable compromise that more or less eliminates the need to spend an additional $50 to not feel ripped off. You technically have until the day before launch to prepurchase, so if you decide not to prepurchase, then you’re spiting yourself.

We also have four damaging conditions without burning, while Eles have two, with burning.

Scratch that, come Reaper release, we will have five damaging conditions.

Burning is better than our four conditions when it can be applied in good amounts and the user can do more than slowly die from lack of real defense. Plus, if the ele puts on a sigil of Doom, then the most important aspect of poison is covered for them.

Just FYI Guys Karl said on the stream that they are most likely changing the bleed on plague to a 1 stack 10 second bleed on activation with no re activation I guess the stream paid off.

Most likely? We’ve been kittening about this for a week. They’re just now considering making changes? Patch is tomorrow xD

That is the wrong change anyways. They should’ve made Plague a well. Then it would at least be a buff.

Karl? The ele forums were asking for Robert Gee because Karl has nerfed them so many times. I don’t trust his balance…

I main ele. You should pray that necros don’t get karl.

See? Besides, one big bleed on cast is even better for a suicide spec. You don;t have to worry about the vitality of plague stopping you now.

Well, now you don’t have to lose self dps because of the vitality boost of Plague!
